The 2011 BET Hip-Hop Awards just went down over the weekend (Sat. Oct 1) in Atlanta, and the black carpet posted up outside the Civic Center was littered with rappers and other celebrities.

Hip-Hop figures like Big Sean, Rick Ross, Tyrese, Nelly, Wiz Khalifa, Wale, Da Brat, DJ Khaled, Busta Rhymes, LL Cool J and tons more all posed for pictures as they arrived at the show, hosted by comedian Mike Epps.

With Shawty Lo being the newest member inducted into the G-Unit camp, 50 Cent appears to have a few more surprises up his sleeve.

Over the weekend, Shawty Lo brought Lil Kim out on stage during Hot 107.9′s Birthday Bash and after she performed “It’s All About the Benjamins,” the Queen Bee made an announcement that left many to believe she might be joining the gang as well.

“If ya’ll don’t know, this my boy right here. G-Unit South, that’s where it’s at. And I’m family too, down with the G-Unit camp. We got surprises for ya’ll.”

The 15th Annual Hot 107.9 Birthday Bash went down in a major way last weekend in Atlanta, GA at the Philips Arena. This year’s Birthday Bash featured performances from recording artists Monica, Ludacris, Gucci Mane, Plies, Rick Ross, Young Jeezy and many more.

After serving six months in Fulton County Jail for charges stemming back in November, rapper Gucci Mane is finally free! Immediately following his release, he held a press conference in front of the jail with his homie Shawty Lo by his side, and announced his plans for the next few months and also talked about his new business deal with Asylum/Warner Bros. Records.

Gucci has also decided that he wants to clean his image up and become a positive role model.  During his press conference outside the Fulton County Jail in Georgia, Gucci Mane (real name: Radric Davis) announced that he wants to turn his life around and stay out of trouble from here on out.

“Unfortunately, my incarceration also came at a pivotal point in my career, just as my first major label album was dropping. I was forced to miss what should have been one of the proudest moments of my life. This is something I will make sure never happens again. My time in jail was trying, but I grew from it and am now a stronger and better person. I want to continue on a positive track and truly focus on being a role model to my fans and my community.

“I have made some mistakes in my life that have hurt a lot of people who care about me. I have worked very hard to get past them, but those mistakes have brought me to where I am today, and they will not be repeated. These past six months have been a difficult time but fortunately I have learned a great deal from my experience. I was able to do a great deal of soul searching; I am coming back with a new attitude towards life.”

Hip-hop represented over the weekend in Atlanta for “Converse Takeover Weekend.” The first event was the Converse Tip-Off, which was held at the Georgia Freight Room Friday (Apr 30) and was attended by Jermaine Dupri, Young Money artist Shanell, model/actress Melyssa Ford and more.

The following day (Sat. May 1), rappers Cam’ron and Jim Jones put their differences aside and suited up as “The Jones Family” team at the Converse Band of Ballers celebrity basketball tournament at Clark Atlanta University. The pair confirmed to Miss Info that they were trying to work things out and reconcile their differences:

“Above all, me and Cam, we still brothers. And we’re building on getting back on track but first, I apologize for being a rude brother, for saying things publicly without first trying to handle them privately…”

Other celebrity bball players at the game were Jermaine Dupri (who headed the “So So Def” team) and rappers Shawty Lo (who led the “Southern Hospitality” team) and O.J. da Juiceman. O’Zone magazine founder Julia Beverly, Sirius XM Shade 45 radio personality Angela Yee and TV/radio host Kenny Burns were also spotted at the game. The final competing teams in the championship game was Jim Jones’ the Jones Family versus Shawty Lo’s Southern Hospitality team with the Jones Family taking the win with a final score of 10 to 5.

R&B singer Monica performed for an intimate crowd last night (Thurs. Apr 29) at the Midtown W Hotel in Atlanta for V-103 Soul Sessions. The 29-year-old entertainer’s set included her classics “Don’t Take It Personal,” “Before You Walk out of My Life” and “Angel of Mine” and her new songs “Still Standing” and “Everything to Me.” Mo also paid tribute to music legend Whitney Houston by performing “I Will Always Love You” and “You Give Good Love.”

Celebrity attendees for the concert included Kandi Burruss, Jazze Pha, Shawty Lo and V-103 radio personality Frank Ski. Monica’s mother Marilyn, her father M.C. Arnold Jr., her younger brother Montez and her two sons Lil’ Rocko and Romelo also were in attendance, along with Monica’s manager Melinda Dancil.

T.I., Young Jeezy, Lil Scrappy, and Ludacris (photographed from L to R above) were just a few of the names who took the stage Sunday night at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, and according to our boy Freddy O, “everybody that was anybody was in the building!” Other rappers who took the stage were Rick Ross and Shawty Lo.

T.I., brought out by Young Jeezy, was actually a surprise guest and wasn’t originally included in the line-up. Freddy said fans at the show were a little confused since T.I. was supposed to head to prison a couple of weeks back, but a quick Google search will let them know that ol’ Clifford has until May 6th to turn himself in. Ain’t the inna-net grate?!

T.I. told MTV News that his former feud with fellow Atlanta rapper Shawty Lo wasn’t beef. Because he’s just too grown for a word like “beef.”

“See, I’m a grown man. These situations are not that major for me, you know? It’s always more blown up in the media than it is in my mind. That’s nothing to me. I never even considered it to be a big deal to begin with. So, something like that, I just didn’t do it for publicity,” Tip told MTV News. “I’m not doing it for the purposes of taking pictures, and for people online to talk about it and people on TV to talk about it. As a man, I don’t mean anybody no harm, I wish everybody the best, I ain’t never been a hater, I congratulate success, and I move on and keep doing what I’m doing … That word ‘beef’ is used too loosely, to me. ‘Beef’ is kind of like ‘swag.’ People just throwin’ that word around,” T.I. said. “To me, man, if I don’t mean you no harm, we can’t be beefin’. If I see you, and I don’t attack you, it ain’t no beef, and vice versa. Everything else is just entertainment to me.”

Atlanta rappers T.I. and Shawty Lo surprised concertgoers Friday night when the two reportedly united onstage at T.I.’s Club Crucial in Atlanta. The two have been going back and forth with diss tracks and numerous verbal jabs in interviews for over a year. Their biggest blow-out was back in November 2008 at the Dirty Awards when Tip’s crew and Lo’s crew got into two separate physical altercations during the ceremony, eventually shutting the whole thing down prematurely. But according to recent reports, the two have made up and ended the childish beef, just in time for T.I. to serve his 1-year prison sentence on weapons charges (beginning in two weeks).

“After that last altercation at the Dirty Awards, I told him my side of the story,” Lo said Sunday in his studio, located in Atlanta’s Bankhead neighborhood. “We talked for, like, 15 minutes. We decided in 2009, we’re coming into a clean slate. And he’s finnin’ to go in. What better place to do it than in Bankhead at Club Crucial? … It was unexpected,” Lo continued. “We already talked. Me being a man, I just went up there, and the crowd went crazy. They was shocked. We dapped each other as soon as I hit the stage. It was a good feeling.”

Despite the beef between the two being dead, Lo said making a song with Tip is probably premature thinking at this point, but it isn’t impossible.

“We don’t know,” Lo said with a smile before going off to join the likes of Fat Joe, Jim Jones, Young Jeezy and DJ Drama and DJ Infamous’ party at the Velvet Room. “Stay tuned. Everything is in the mix. We haven’t talked about doing music since 2006, but at least we have been talking. It feels good to be here.”

No, that’s not a typo … we really mean FIGHTS! With an “s.” If you didn’t know what the “Dirty Awards” were before today, then you damn sure know what they are now! The 2008 Dirty Awards, hosted by Radio One, went down last night in Atlanta at the Georgia International Congress Center. The show, hosted by rapper David Banner, went on without a hitch … that is, until Atlanta rapper Shawty Lo hit the stage. After Shawty Lo performed “Dey Know,” the one song everybody knows him for, he proceeded to poke fun of T.I.’s Grand Hustle crew with his own version of “Ain’t I,” a song by Grand Hustle artist Yung LA. Shawty Lo called his version “Don’t I.” While we don’t know the specifics of all of the details, we do know someone from Grand Hustle (eyewitnesses say it was Alfamega) got heated and threw a chair on the stage, and it all went downhill from there. Authorities broke up the fight, and the show continued.

Shortly after the on-stage brawl, we hear T.I. and Shawty Lo talked privately with each other backstage, with T.I. insisting that the two end their childish, pointless, and long-running beef. Later in the show, T.I. accepted an award, and the Grand Hustle crew got up on stage to perform the REAL version of “Ain’t I.” When T.I. got to his verse, he changed up a few of the works, making verbal jabs at Shawty Lo. And near the end of the performance, a member of Grand Hustle hopped off the stage and stole on someone who witnesses say was allegedly Shawty Lo’s brother.

Authorities, once again, broke up the fight. But this time, pepper spray was involved and the show was immediately shut down prematurely. Sources say the confrontation didn’t end there as the two sides continued to fight outside of the show.
