Poor Omarion. The former B2K member’s third studio album Ollusion dropped last Tuesday (Jan 12) and opened at a disappointing No. 19 with only 19,000 copies told for the week. That’s definitely no bueno for an artist who should be considered established. His last album 21, released in 2006 debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 ad sold 119,000 copies (100x more!) in its first week due to the success of the album’s lead single “Icebox.” And his debut album O dropped in 2005 and also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard album charts with 180,000 copies sold. So yeah, 19k is pretty bad :-/

But anyway, on to the good news! Even though his latest album tanked, he’ll still be able to pay his bills with no problem as MTV has scooped him up and given him a gig as a judge on the upcoming season of MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew.” The 25-year-old entertainer will be replacing Shane Sparks, who was axed after child molestation allegations were brought against him late last year.

O had this to say about joining the judge’s panel:

“I’m so excited to be a judge on MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew. Dancing and performing is what I do and being a judge on this show will allow me to give creative feedback to the newest and hottest dancers on the rise.”

We think that this a perfectly good look for Omarion since he has a great deal of dance experience! Congrats to Omarion! He’s exactly what more artists should do. Think outside of the box. Music isn’t selling, so you have to be creative and think of new ways to bring in some chips. Those bills gotta get paid somehow!

Choreographer Shane Sparks posted $590,000 bail Saturday night following his arrest the night before for nine counts of child molestation. Sparks, a judge on MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew and a regular choreographer on FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance, is accused of molesting a 15-year-old girl back in 1994. But according to his attorney Steve Meister, he’s completely innocent and these charges “reek of opportunism.” In addition, both Shane and his legal team are claiming that the victim is trying to extort the 40-year-old Hollywood dancer/choreographer.

“Shane Sparks is innocent, he knows it and soon the world will know it. We are going to fight this tooth and nail. It’s a bogus accusation that reeks of opportunism and exploitation. The timing is beyond suspicious, and this whole thing stinks to high heaven,” states Meister. “We are going to fight to clear his name, and we are going to succeed.”

Meister and Sparks say that since the girl took so long to come forward, and conveniently waited until Shane became famous (and had a little money in his pocket) her case has no merit. The next step in the case would be for his legal team to build his defense in an effort to prove his innocence, which Meister says he’s confident he’ll be able to do.

On the other hand, if Sparks is found guilty and convicted in court, he’ll have to provide fingerprints, a DNA sample and register on a national database of sex offenders.

Wow! When will the madness end? Well-known choreographer Shane Sparks, a judge on MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew,” was arrested today on a felony warranted and was charged with 8 counts of felony child molestation. As of right now, he is currently being held on $590k bail! Via MTV News:

According to a spokesperson for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, Sparks, 35, was taken into custody at around 8 a.m. PT on Friday on a felony warrant charging him with molestation that allegedly began in the early-to-mid 1990s. The age of the victim was not revealed by the DA’s spokesperson, but Sparks would have been in his early 20s at the time they allegedly began. The DA’s office spokesperson declined to provide more specific detail on the allegations at press time because the original charging document released to the press contained substantial typographical errors that did not reflect the true nature of the charges.

KTTV Fox News 11 in Los Angeles reported that the victim was one of Sparks’ dance students at Millennium Dance Complex in Los Angeles. MTV had no comment on the arrest, and a rep for Sparks told MTV News that no comment was available at press time.

Cincinnati-born Sparks has worked with Brandy, Aaliyah, Monica and Lindsay Lohan and was nominated for an Emmy for his choreography on “So You Think You Can Dance.”
