Rump-shaking extraordinaire Shakira wants the world to know that she was NOT the victim of a gutsy ring-stealing fan in Mexico last week … although a viral video which appeared to capture the crime states otherwise.

The singer’s publicist Joseph Carozza issued the following statement to TMZ:

“There is no truth to this report. A fan grabbed her hand and she looked down. Her ring is still visible on her hand as she continued to walk through the crowd.”

While performing at a recent concert in Monterrey, Mexico last  Thursday (April 7), hip swinging beauty Shakira provided one ambitious fan with more than just a great show … she  provided him with the ring right off  her finger, literally!

In a fan video of the incident, you can see the Colombian pop star shaking hands with her fans using her left hand while clutching a microphone in her right hand. One hand she shakes seems to linger before pulling away, and Shakira quickly looks back to find the fan before looking down at her hand. Like a true professional, Shakira is not phased by the theft and continues her performance.

Shakira is officially a free woman now…

The Colombian singer announced on her blog Monday (Jan. 10) that she has broken things off with her boyfriend of 11 years, Antonio de la Rue. But Shakira says she and her boyfriend, who have been broken up since last summer (but kept it private), may reconcile sometime in the future.
