Jay-Z and LeBron James brought out the stars Saturday night (Feb 19) in Los Angeles at their annual “Two Kings” dinner and after-party held in conjunction with NBA All-Star Weekend 2010. First up was the actual “Two Kings” dinner at Craft, followed by the after party at CAA in L.A.

This year’s event, sponsored by Bing, featured appearances from big names like Kanye West, Rihanna, Ciara, Drake, Ne-Yo, Gabrielle Union, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Amber Rose and plenty others.

Beyonce’s New Album Will be Her Biggest Ever, Says Producer Sean Garrett

Beyonce‘s “break” from music is over.

Songwriter/producer Sean Garrett (“Video Phone,” “Get Me Bodied,” “Upgrade U,” etc.) recently spoke with our good friends over at Pop Eater and said that Beyonce’s upcoming fourth studio album will be a party album and will be bigger than anything she’s ever done!

“It’s going to be her biggest album ever,” Garrett says. “We’re going to take it to a whole other level.”

And last Thursday night (Sep 2) Luda kicked off LudaDay Weekend with a private dinner at his famous Straits restaurant in Atlanta, where he was joined by the likes Kelly Rowland, Sean Garrett, Keshia Knight Pulliam, ATL Mayor Kasim Reed and more.

We are getting word that producer/singer Sean Garrett is very close to finalizing a record deal with Cash Money Records. The super producer himself revealed in a recent interview with MTV how his close his ties are to the label and Lil Wayne, who brought the deal to the table shortly before the rapper and Young Money CEO began his year-long bid in prison. “I really got a lot of respect for Wayne,” Sean said in an interview. “Wayne embraced me with open arms before he went on a little vacation. He took me on tour with him. He was really open arms about rocking with him. He put me on the pilot seat going on right before him. I got a lot of respect for [Cash Money], because it represents where music is going as far as really believing in yourself and not just being in a box. Just creating your own style, your own movement and believing in your team. Cash Money is really family-orientated. I can bring a lot to Cash Money, in reference to what I do, developing their other artists, helping them to travel across the water. They’ve got artists they are trying to break internationally. It’s sort of a win/win situation.”

Damn, the Cash Money/Young Money family is really trying to do the damn thang right now! Who else is in talks to sign with them? LOL

Hip-hop’s self-proclaimed Barbie, rapper Nicki Minaj, released her very first music video as a solo artist yesterday on BET’s 106 & Park. The video is for Nicki’s debut single “Massive Attack” and it features producer/singer Sean Garrett. The Hype Williams directed music video also features appearances from Minaj’s BFF Amber Rose and her boss Birdman (of Cash Money Records, Young Money‘s parent label).

Nicki says she dedicated the video to her other boss, incarcerated rapper Lil Wayne, CEO of Young Money:

“I wanna say shout-out to my baby Wayne, because he’s not here,” Minaj said, sitting in the video’s pink Lambo a couple of weeks ago. “This means the world to me, because Wayne was one of the first people that believed in me. He’s not here to see my first video. But he’s here in spirit, obviously. I wanna tell him, ‘I love you very much. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me thus far.’ And to my whole team, Young Money, I love you guys. This is for Wayne and this is for my whole team. Usher Says “Papers” Was Written & Recorded Before His Marriage to Tameka Foster Ended

Usher states that his buzz single “Papers” from his most recent album Raymond vs. Raymond was life imitating art. Usher spoke with MTV News last week to discuss the new LP and its vivid material.

“I think people would have immediately alluded to the fact I was talking about my wife when I made that record — and now my ex-wife,” he said. “When the song was recorded, I wasn’t divorced. It was some reality in the contrast of trying to make it all work, having to balance a career and having a normal life. Coming in at 6 in the morning and arguing was a reality when you have those type of relationships. I felt that in a way, the story did touch on certain things at the time. I didn’t know how realistic it would become. I didn’t know I would become divorced. I did know it spoke on the contrast between trying to balance this world of being married and having this responsibility that’s like a marriage at the same time. The song spoke to that place. Unfortunately, it did become a reality.”

Usher’s ex-wife Tameka Foster, told People that “Papers” was only for entertainment purposes and it shouldn’t be taken literally. But of course she would say that since most people (including us) still think the song is about her. The shoe fits too snug for it not to be about her…

The chorus in the song Papers chants:
For you, I gave my heart and turned my back against the world / ‘Cause you were my girl, girl, girl / I done damn near lost my mama, I done been through so much drama, I done turned into the man I never thought I’d be / I’m ready to sign them papers…

The track was written by Sean Garrett and produced by Zaytoven.

“Let’s say I wrote a record for Usher three or four months ago where I really didn’t have any idea of what he was going through personally. I work really hard at creating records I feel that’s gonna fit like a glove to an artist,” Garrett explained back in June. “Me and Usher have a close relationship; I tend to sort of assist certain artists in giving them a direction, where I think they need to go in their next move. I felt that was the direction we needed to go. I felt that was the question everyone wanted to know: Was [his relationship] good or was it bad? Was it right? Are you happy or you’re not?

The music video for “We Are the World: 25 for Haiti” debuted Friday night (Feb 12) during the opening ceremony for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

This version of the song, featuring vocals from Justin Bieber, Jennifer Hudson, Lil Wayne, Janet Jackson, Miley Cyrus, Jamie Foxx, Mary J. Blige, Kanye West, T-Pain, Usher, Wyclef Jean and much more, is much more contemporary than the original but it fits today’s music era. The song’s original writer and singer Michael Jackson also appears in the song and video (his sister Janet sings the first chorus with footage of Mike thrown in). They also kept one of MJ’s original parts and show footage of him singing it (Nice!).

The 25th Anniversary recording features over 80 artists and performers. The recording of We Are The World 25 For Haiti embodied the same enthusiasm, sense of purpose and generosity as the original recording 25 years ago. Every one of the artists who participated, regardless of genre or generation, walked into the room with their hearts and souls completely open to coming together to help the people of Haiti.

The video shows footage of Haiti and the efforts surrounding its repair, along with footage of the artists mentioned above and more recording the song in the studio. Check it out below…

The 2009 Soul Train Awards, hosted by Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard, were held earlier this month (Tues. Nov 3) at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta and were aired last night (Sun. Nov 3) on BET. We posted the arrival photos shortly after the show was recorded at the beginning of the month and here are the pictures from inside the show!

Folks like Robin Thicke, Ludacris, Keri Hilson, Fantasia and more performed. Trey Songz and Toni Braxton opened up the show with Braxton’s new single “So Yesterday” and ended their performance with a big ol’ passionate smooch on the lips! Toni says it was all planned and her husband knew about it well in advance so any speculation about that causing the separation between she and her husband is reportedly false.

Usher and Sean Garrett Working on Divorce Track for New Album

Usher‘s new forthcoming album Monster has been receiving a lot of attention lately and with a new song about divorce and filling out papers slated to be on it, the entire album itself is bound to turn heads. Producer Sean “The Pen” Garrett apparently wrote a track about filling out divorce papers before he knew of any drama between Usher and his ex-wife Tameka Foster and had the R&B singer lend his vocals for the song, which holds no official title as of yet.

“[Songwriter] Sean Garrett called me to the studio,” producer Zaytoven, who’s worked on songs for Gucci Mane and OJ Da Juiceman, told MTV News last week in Atlanta. “He called like, ‘You’ve got to come hear this song. I’ve got a hit.’ ” Zay went to the studio and heard Garrett’s reference vocals on the track, and soon after heard the finished version with Usher’s vocals.

“This was awhile ago,” Zay said. “This is before there were any reports about Usher’s marriage in the news. So I was thinking to myself, ‘Is he trying to say something?’ I don’t know what Usher is going through, but Sean Garrett made a song about filling out papers, divorce papers. The beat, it’s got a bounce to it. It’s outta here.”

“It’s not particularly called ‘Filing Papers,’ ” Garrett clarified on Wednesday via phone from Atlanta. “Let’s say I wrote a record for Usher three or four months ago where I really didn’t have any idea of what he was going through personally. I work really hard at creating records I feel that’s gonna fit like a glove to an artist. Me and Usher have a close relationship; I tend to sort of assist certain artists in giving them a direction, where I think they need to go in their next move. I felt that was the direction we needed to go. I felt that was the question everyone wanted to know: Was [his relationship] good or was it bad? Was it right? Are you happy or you’re not?”

Garrett maintained that he and Usher didn’t speak about trouble in the singer’s marriage at the time. Of course, Usher filed for divorce from his spouse of nearly two years, Tameka Foster-Raymond, earlier this month.

Asked how he felt when he learned about Usher’s divorce, Garrett said, “I’m a heavy believer in God. I’m a Pisces. My intuition is crazy. I think that’s healthy in the process for me writing and producing for people. I can feel a person’s vibe without them even saying it. I can read a person’s body language. Maybe it was a sign. Maybe it was a sign of what my man was going through and he needed to get out. Maybe it was something she needed to hear as a wake-up call to her. I don’t know — their relationship is not my business. But once people hear this record, it’s gonna make their hair raise up.

“Whether you’re a female in love, male in love, it’s a real record,” he continued. “Your mama has to feel this record, your daddy has to feel this record, everybody has to feel this record. That’s what good writers do. That’s what ‘Yeah!’ [Usher's 2004 hit, also co-written by Garrett] did. That’s what this record is gonna do. This is such an explosive record. I definitely feel it’s what Usher’s been wanting to say. But at the same time, it’s what a lot of people wanted to say, they just didn’t know what to say.”

Garrett divulged that he and Usher have worked on three songs so far and plan to knock out three more before the LP is wrapped up. The album currently has no release date.

At press time, a rep for Usher had not responded to MTV News’ request for comment about the song.

Mario, RichGirl and Others at Burger King Fam Fest 2009

FreddyO hit up the 2009 Burger King Fam Fest in Atlanta over the weekend. R&B singer/actor Mario hit the stage as the headliner at the event, which included a full day of activities, contests and other events, including the concert. The event is totally free and was hosted by comedian Kevin Heart. Producer/songwriter turned singer Sean Garrett and new R&B girl group Rich Girl also performed during the concert portion of the event.

Teaming up with the fast food giant, Mario will perform in over six North American cities this summer. The best part is… it’s free !

In addition to having Mario lined up for what Burger King is calling “BK Fam Fest,” the chain will also offer a full day of activities, contests, and other events in each city. Hosted by comedian Kevin Hart, BK Fam Fest is geared toward providing eight hours of fun and food for families, incuding arts and crafts, a build a whopper contest and other family fun activities. On top of that, Burger King will donate $2,500 from the Have it Your Way Foundation to a local charity of your choice in each city.

The 12th annual event gave hopefuls from across the country a chance to display their talent in front of Atlanta’s influential, superstar-spotting music community, and the showcase finalists were chosen by a group of top BMI songwriters, producers and industry execs from a whopping 300 submissions. AIRDATE: THURSDAY, OCTOBER 23RD 2008 ON BET @ 8 PM EST. The 2008 BET HIp-Hop Awards went down in Atlanta over the weekend, and here you can check out the photos from the red carpet. If you haven’t heard yet, Katt Williams was nixed from his hosting duties, and T-Pain filled in for the comedian at the last minute. BET made up some bogus story talking about how Katt bet T-Pain he couldn’t beat him in a break dance battle, and how Katt’s hosting duties were up for grabs to whoever won. It later came to light that Williams had been arrested on the morning of the show. Sound familiar, anyone? *Cough* T.I. *cough* got arrested *cough* last year *cough* and he was *cough* supposed to perform. I’m just saying…

Apparently this is new music from Ludacris‘ forthcoming album, Theater of the Mind (Def Jam). The song “What Them Girls Like“, which is Dark Child-produced, features Chris Brown and Sean Garrett. I like this song, I could do without Sean Garrett, though. I guess he was doing Luda a favor since he was on his single. But I hate Sean’s part, it might grow on me, but not anytime soon.
