Some of the big names in urban entertainment hit up the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta Tuesday evening (Nov 3) to attend the 2009 Soul Train Awards.

Actress/singer Adrienne Bailon, pictured above with producers turned singers Ryan Leslie and Sean Garrett, celebrated her birthday Wednesday night (Oct 28) at Pink Elephant in New York City.
Just before the pink-themed Nuvo sponsored party, Bailon and some friends (including Hot 97 radio personality Angie Martinez) met up for a private dinner at Le Souk Restaurant. Other folks who helped Adrienne celebrate her 26th birthday were Julissa Bermudez, DJ Webstar, Adrienne’s sister Claudette and DJ Clue.

Mario and Sean Garrett performed at the 2009 J&R Music Fest Friday (Aug 28) at City Hall Park in New York City. And Ice-T and his wife Coco hosted a party at Club Dream in Miami Saturday (Aug 29).

Usher’s new forthcoming album Monster has been receiving a lot of attention lately and with a new song about divorce and filling out papers slated to be on it, the entire album itself is bound to turn heads. Producer Sean “The Pen” Garrett apparently wrote a track about filling out divorce papers before he knew of any drama between Usher and his ex-wife Tameka Foster and had the R&B singer lend his vocals for the song, which holds no official title as of yet.
“[Songwriter] Sean Garrett called me to the studio,” producer Zaytoven, who’s worked on songs for Gucci Mane and OJ Da Juiceman, told MTV News last week in Atlanta. “He called like, ‘You’ve got to come hear this song. I’ve got a hit.’ ” Zay went to the studio and heard Garrett’s reference vocals on the track, and soon after heard the finished version with Usher’s vocals.
FreddyO hit up the 2009 Burger King Fam Fest in Atlanta over the weekend. R&B singer/actor Mario hit the stage as the headliner at the event, which included a full day of activities, contests and other events, including the concert. The event is totally free and was hosted by comedian Kevin Heart. Producer/songwriter turned singer Sean Garrett and new R&B girl group Rich Girl also performed during the concert portion of the event.
Ciara walked the red carpet of the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards Japan Saturday (May 30) in Saitama, Japan. The r&b/pop singer, who recently released her third studio album Fantasy Ride, also performed at the Japanese version of MTV’s popular awards show. Trey Songz was a featured performer and headliner Thursday night at the BMI Urban Unsigned Talent Showcase, held in Atlanta at E.S.S.O. Nightclub. Nas and new Capital Records signee Novel also performed at the showcase. The 12th annual event gave hopefuls from across the country a chance to display their talent in front of Atlanta’s influential, superstar-spotting music community, and the showcase finalists were chosen by a group of top BMI songwriters, producers and industry execs from a whopping 300 submissions.
