COMMON & T-PAIN GIVE EACH OTHER DAP ON THE RED CARPET AT THE 2008 BET HIP-HOP AWARDS

ATLANTA // SATURDAY, OCTOBER 18TH 2008 »
AIRDATE: THURSDAY, OCTOBER 23RD 2008 ON BET @ 8 PM EST.
The 2008 BET HIp-Hop Awards went down in Atlanta over the weekend, and here you can check out the photos from the red carpet. If you haven’t heard yet, Katt Williams was nixed from his hosting duties, and T-Pain filled in for the comedian at the last minute. BET made up some bogus story talking about how Katt bet T-Pain he couldn’t beat him in a break dance battle, and how Katt’s hosting duties were up for grabs to whoever won. It later came to light that Williams had been arrested on the morning of the show. Sound familiar, anyone? *Cough* T.I. *cough* got arrested *cough* last year *cough* and he was *cough* supposed to perform. I’m just saying…

Anyway, follow the break to check out photos of Ciara, T.I., Flo Rida, Rick Ross, and more all on the red carpet at the ‘08 BET HIp-Hop awards.

MIAMI BEACH // SUNDAY & MONDAY, OCTOBER 5TH & 6TH 2008 » Phat Farm CEO Russell Simmons and his daughters, Ming Lee & Aoki Lee, enjoyed a day of fun (and yoga) this weekend in Miami Beach. He was actually spotted solo on Sunday when he was doing the yoga thing, but I just decided to lump both days into one post (I get lazy like that sometimes). NEW YORK CITY // TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9TH 2008 » I feel like I missed some major update or something. With me focusing on my marriage to Vanessa Simmons, I don’t have much time to even think about worrying about what’s going on with Bow Wow and my sister-in-law, Angela Simmons. But are these two dating now? Last I heard, Rev. Run wasn’t playing that relationship crap unless Bow Wow was seriously thinking about tying the knot in the future. And now he’s all good with the uncle and hugging all up on Angela. Does the Rev. know about this? lol. Anyhow, Uncle Russell threw a party to celebrate the latest season of his Argyleculture clothing line. Continue reading for more pics from the shindig.

Aye girl, there’s something on yo head!! Solange (formerly known as Beyonce’s little sister) is currently hanging out in London, and was spotted in the city sometime today. It has just been confirmed that the singer will be the new face of Armani Jeans. Here’s a quote from Giorgio Armani himself:

“Armani Jeans expresses my vision of a young, independent, casual lifestyle with a strong and cool, fashion sensibility. Solange epitomises this style perfectly and brings to it that swing so evident in her new single, I Decided.”

Solange is making paper! It’s so crazy how quickly she’s come into her own here recently. I’m happy for her. More candids of your favorite celebs when you continue reading!

Fashion designer Kimora Lee Simmons wants her ex-husband, Phat Farm CEO Russell Simmons, to pay up! To the tune of $40,000 per month, that is. In documents filed Tuesday, which were obtained by TMZ in L.A. Superior Court, KLS is demanding a whopping $20k per month in child support, per child, up until the year 2019 (for Ming Lee) and 2022 (for Aoki Lee). That’s $6 million total over the next 14 years, for all of you math wizzes out there.

I’ve always thought Kimora was money hungry, but damn … this takes the cake! She’s already rich as hell off her Baby Phat empire, and now she’s trying to cash in on being a baby mama. I’m all for child support, but when the mother is already making a more than comfortable living, the father shouldn’t be obligated to pay THAT much. $40,000 a month? That’s nuts!

Singer Mary J. Blige performed live on NBC’s “Today Show” in New York yesterday as a part of the summer concert series.

British supermodel Naomi Campbell was spotted on the set of popular television series “Ugly Betty” in Beverly Hills Thursday (May 1st). When asked about her experienced on the set, this is what she had to say:

“I was given a crash course in playing softball and at one point hit the ball so hard it actually broke in half! I had a fantastic day on set; the cast and crew were lovely. The coach said he had never seen anyone pick up the game so quickly.”

Broke the ball in half? Cast and crew were lovely? Not surprising. First of all, I’m sure she’s very fond of “hitting things” with baseball/softball bats, with that temper of hers and all. So I’m sure breaking that softball in half was nothing. And, if I were part of either the cast or crew, I’d be “lovely” too. There’s nothing worse than a pissed off Naomi Campbell … especially a Naomi Campbell with a baseball bat in her hands!

Russell Simmons Publicly Endorses Barack Obama

Hip-hop mogul and Phat Farm CEO Russell Simmons has publicly released a statement announcing his endorsement for Senator Barack Obama, saying that he was inspired by the diversity among supporters of the senator from Illinois.

“Today I am announcing my personal endorsement of Senator Barack Obama for President of the United States,” announced entertainment mogul Russell Simmons Sunday. “From the sidelines of the primaries and debates, I have been particularly inspired by the fact that Sen. Obama has built an unprecedented, national movement comprised of people from all ethnic, racial, political, social and economic backgrounds. Although I have great respect for the accomplishments of Sen. Clinton and I have personally worked with Sen. Clinton successfully on issues concerning education, prison reform and poverty, I am now compelled by my own personal conscience to publicly state, ‘I support and endorse Barack Obama for President.’

As the Chairman of the non-partisan, nonprofit The Foundation for Ethnic Understanding, it is my personal opinion that Sen. Obama’s campaign for President has and will continue to transcend race in America and have a profound positive impact on the very issues I have been fighting for my whole life. Many of you know my work as Chairman of the non-partisan, nonprofit Hip-Hop Summit Action Network. Hip-Hop as a cultural phenomena is also about transformation and taking action to end poverty, war and ignorance. While I am endorsing Senator Obama as a private citizen, I am in complete solidarity with the transformative consciousness of the growing number artists and young people from the hip-hop generation that are overwhelmingly supporting Obama.”

If you are a registered voter and live in either Texas, Ohio, Vermont, or Rhode Island, make sure you exercise your rights as a citizen and participate in your state’s primary or caucus tomorrow. Out of the 2,025 delegate votes needed, Barack Obama is currently sitting pretty with 1,202 votes, while Hillary Clinton only has 1,042.
