Looks like Metta World Peace is getting back to his old “Ron Artest” ways.

After celebrating a monster dunk, the Los Angeles Lakers star aggressively elbowed James Harden from the Oklahoma City Thunder in the face last night during the first half of the Lakers’ 114-106 double-overtime victory.

World Peace was immediately ejected from the game, and officials say that he could face suspension.

Metta claims that it was totally accidental, but from the looks of it …. we beg to differ!

Ron Artest, who now legally goes by the name of “Metta World Peace,” is the first celebrity to be voted off from the 13th season of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.”

The basketball star and his professional dance partner Peta Murgatroyd were eliminated from the dance competition Tuesday after the judges gave the pair a low score of 14 out of a possible 30 the night before during the show’s premiere.

Looking like a modern day Dennis Rodman, for his debut performance, World Peace bared his chest in a gold vest and shaved the Hebrew words for his last name into the side of his head.

Len Goodman, the show’s head judge, said the over-the-top athlete’s cha-cha was “all sizzle and no sausage,” calling his footwork in the ballroom “atrocious.”

The 11 celebrities who remaining in the competition are: reality stars Robert Kardashian and Kristin Cavallari, TV personalities Nancy Grace, Carson Kressley and Ricki Lake, singer Chynna Phillips, author/activist Chaz Bono, Italian actress Elisabetta Canalis, actors David Arquette and J.R. Martinez, and World Cup soccer player Hope Solo.

Ron Artest‘s name change to “Metta World Peace” has been approved!

Three weeks after his bid was blocked because of unpaid traffic tickets, a court commissioner granted the Los Angeles Lakers player’s request to officially change his name from “Ron Artest” to “Metta World Peace” (First Name: Metta, Last Name: World Peace.)

His publicist Courtney Barnes said the NBA player chose the name Metta because it is a traditional Buddhist word that means loving and kindness toward all.

“Changing my name was meant to inspire and bring youth together all around the world,” Metta World Peace said in a statement released after the hearing. “After this short delay, my tickets have been paid and I’m glad that it is now official.”

Ron Artest Metta World Peace (This is gonna take some getting used to!) first requested the change back in June, citing only personal reasons.

He is scheduled to appear on the next season of “Dancing With the Stars,” which premieres tonight on ABC!

Yesterday we gave you the news that season 13 of “Dancing with the Stars” is back with a diverse celebrity cast. And oday, we have the knowledge of who is going to be paired with who during each week’s dance-off!

During today’s episode of Good Morning America, it was announced that two-time champion Cheryl Burke will get to dance with reality royalty Rob Kardashian, while former talk show host and actress Ricki Lake has been paired with three time champ Derek Hough.

Chaz Bono is partnered with Lacey Schwimmer, Hope Solo is partnered with DWTS favorite Maksim Chmerkovskiy, J.R. Martinez has been paired with Karina Smirnoff, and Nancy Grace is partnered with new to the show Irish dance pro Tristan MacManus.

NBA star Ron Artest has been paired with Peta Murgatroyd, Elisabetta Canalis has been paired with Maksim’s brother Val Chmerkovskiy, actor David Arquette will dance with Kym Johnson, Chynna Phillips will strut her stuff with Tony Dovolani, and reality star Kristin Cavallari will dance with Mark Ballas.

And Anna Trebunskaya (former dance partner to boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard) will partner with Carson Kressley.

Carson said of his partner when asked if he’d met her “We did, like five minutes ago. … You have to know how to dance so she’s going to teach me and I’m going to be amazing.”

“Dancing with the Stars” has announced the cast that will be taking part in the show’s 13th season!

ABC has thrown all sorts of celebrities in the mix for this season and we’re sure it won’t disappoint.

Household names such as NBA star Ron Artest, reality starlet Kristin Cavallari, talk show host and actress Ricki Lake, actor David Arquette, George Clooney’s ex-girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis, Cher’s daughter-turned-son Chaz Bono, pop singer Chynna Phillips, legal commentator Nancy Grace, TV personality Carson Kressley, “All My Children” star J.R. Martinez, and soccer player Hope Solo are all set to compete on the ABC dance competition series.

And finally … a reality show wouldn’t be a reality show without a Kardashian. 24-year-old Rob Kardashian is set to join the cast as well!

Soon after the big announcement, Ricki and Carson took to Twitter to share their excitement.

Carson tweeted, “So excited to be part of the #DTWS cast for season 13! I’m gonna kick nancy graces butt #MichelleSeniuk on #DWTS.” Ricki also tweeted, “Me and my sweetie backstage at my new day job. #DWTS.”

Ron Artest a.k.a. Mr. Metta World Peace may be taking his skills on the basketball court to the dance floor.

According to TMZ, the L.A. Lakers star is in talks with the producers from “Dancing with the Stars.”

Nothing’s official yet — but sources tell us, both Artest and “Dancing” producers have been in touch to hash out a possible deal … and Ron’s pretty excited about the prospect.

But here’s the catch — “Dancing” won’t end ’til November and basketball season typically starts in October … which means if the lockout ends early, Ron could be S.O.L.

That said, Ron could theoretically handle both commitments simultaneously — because as TMZ first reported, “Dancing” producers are desperate for A-list talent … so there will be NO minimum rehearsal requirement next season.

Ron Artest is back in the news for being weird again…

The former NBA champion announced yesterday that he has filed paperwork to officially change his name to “Metta World Peace.”

“My understanding is ‘Metta’ will be his first name and ‘World Peace’ will be his last,” Artest’s spokesman John Black said. “Metta is an early Buddhist word, with various definitions along the lines of kindness or goodwill.”

According to TMZ, Ron — excuse us, “Metta” — even has plans to put his new last name — “Peace” — on the back of his #15 Lakers jersey.

Name changes are usually granted by a judge, unless of course the change results in confusion or fraud. Other famous athletes who have successfully changed their names include Cassius Clay (Muhammad Ali), Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) and Chad Johnson (Chad Ochocinco).

We can’t wait to hear Ron Metta explain himself this time around.

Stars packed into Milk Studios in Hollywood, CA last Thursday (May 12) as AT&T and Samsung hosted a launch event for Samsung’s new Infuse 4G phone.

The event, which featured a headlining appearance and performance from rapper Nicki Minaj, saw dozens of red carpet appearances from lots of stars, including Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Rowland, Keri Hilson, Ron Artest and plenty others.

Everyone’s favorite basketball player with ADD — Ron Artest — was pulled over in Los Angeles Monday (Sep 6) when cops spotted the L.A. Laker driving around in something called an “Eagle Roadster,” which apparently is an over-sized golf cart that can reach up to 152 miles per hour.

Law enforcement sources tell us Artest was cited because the registration on the car was expired. But get this — we’re told the car isn’t even registered to Ron … but somebody out in Tennessee. Ron — who was smiling throughout the entire incident — was eventually sent on his way … but sources tell us cops were “very happy” he was wearing a helmet.

Songwriters were honored Friday night (Jun 25) during the 23rd Annual ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards, which was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. R&B singer Ne-Yo, along with the songwriting/production team Christopher “Tricky” Stewart and Terius “The Dream” Nash, were presented with the night’s top honor: “Songwriter of the Year,” while rapper Dr. Dre was honored with the “Founders Award,” which was presented to him by his good friend Eminem.

Other celebrities and honorees at Friday night’s ASCAP awards were Jermaine Dupri, his artist Dondria, singer Janelle Monae, rapper Gucci Mane (who performed during the show) and more. Even Ron Artest from the Los Angeles Lakers made a random appearance at the 2010 ASCAP awards.

Model Amber Rose hit up the “Twilight Saga: Eclipse” movie premiere at the Nokia Theater L.A. Live during the Los Angeles Film Festival Thursday (Jun 24). Her boyfriend Kanye West was nowhere to be found (as usual here lately it seems) but maybe they’re waiting for the BET Awards this Sunday to re-unite on the red carpet. We’ll see.

Last night, the the Los Angeles Lakers managed to take the Boston Celtics by storm to become the 2010 NBA Champions two years consecutively. In a post-game interview, Ron Artest, who has been known for his troubled past on and off the court, gave out a big thank you to his hood and family, but especially to his psychiatrist!

“I want to thank my psychiatrist she really helped me relax a lot.”

Congrats on the game Ron and the Lakers! We’re glad that psychiatrist could help your crazy a**.

Sunday night (June 6), the Boston Celtics showed up in Los Angeles at the Staples Center and tied the series (1-1) between the Los Angeles Lakers. Ray Allen (of the Celtics) pretty much carried the whole team on his back this game. Allen hit an NBA Finals record, eight 3-pointers, on Sunday night with 32 points and 2 assists, and led the Celtics to a victory by 9 points (103 – 94). LA Laker Kobe Bryant, who had 21 points, had something to say about his team’s loss:

“It’s the most important game. Game 1 was the most important, Game 2 was the most important, now it’s Game 3,” Bryant said. “It’s just the next game, simple as that.”

The Celtics’ Rajon Rondo achieved a triple double with a total of 19 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. Rondo said:

“The best part about getting a triple-double is getting a win,” Rondo continued. “That’s pretty much it. It would be pointless to get a triple-double and lose the game.”

Game 3 will be in Boston Garden at the TD Banknorth Garden Tuesday June 8th on ABC at 9PM/ET!

Pro basketball player turned rapper Ron Artest (yeah, he really is trying out this rap thing!) has landed his own reality show that will document his life.
The Los Angeles Lakers’ star forward’s show is titled “They Call Me Crazy” and will feature Artest making amends for his past transgressions, including a controversial 2004 brawl with fans during a Pistons-Pacer game.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show will also feature Artest seeking new Hip-Hop talent for his recorded label, Tru Warier.

The same company this is distributing Faith Evans’ new reality show It’s All About Faith is developing They Call Me Crazy.

“I’m really excited to have the opportunity to invite people into my world to see the real me, and show them there are many more sides to the Ron Artest they see on the basketball court,” Artest said in a statement “This show will allow me to share my experiences with others, and hopefully people can learn from the mistakes I’ve made.”

An air date was not available as of press time.

Singer Chris Brown and his BFF, producer Polow Da Don, were spotted sitting courtside this past Friday night (Mar 19) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles as the Lakers defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves with a final score of 104 to 96.

Shannon Brown of the Los Angeles Lakers celebrated his 24th birthday Sunday night (Nov 29) at Playhouse Hollywood in Los Angeles and partied it up with his teammates and some of his industry associates.

Shannon is pictured above (3rd to the left) with Kobe Bryant, Anthony Lindsey and Omarr Gilbert. Other folks at Brown’s shindig were Ron Artest, DJ Sean Mac and DJ Mbenga. Electrik Red and a few other people also came through and partied with Shannon and his friends.

And a video for the currently untitled album’s debut single, “Yesterday,” was shot earlier this month in Los Angeles by filmmaker Bille Woodruff, who also directed a couple of Toni’s old videos (“Unbreak My Heart” and “He Wasn’t Man Enough“)

The music video for “Yesterday” will feature cameo appearances from NBA ballers Ron Artest (pictured above) and Shannon Brown, both from the Los Angeles Lakers. The video is set to premiere sometime in November, but enjoy these video stills from her official website for now.

Ron Artest of the Los Angeles Lakers paid a visit to Millions of Milkshakes in Los Angeles, CA Sunday (Oct 25) to develop his own custom milkshake, sign autographs and pose for press pictures.

He brought along his children (pictured above) as he created his milkshake made from soy milk, peaches, blueberries and pineapple. He called his cold, sweet beverage “The Defensive Booster.”

No matter how much fun you had this past Saturday on 4th of July, we guarantee whatever event you attended didn’t top Diddy and Ashton Kutcher‘s White Party. Everybody who was anybody attended the event, which was held to help raise awareness for Malaria No More.
