Paula Abdul wasn’t the only one who got the axe from “X Factor” last night. Judge Nicole Scherzinger and host Steve Jones were also fired from the talent competition TV show.

Fox confirmed the news that neither of them will be returning to the show.

We knew Simon was ruthless, but gee whiz….looks like nobody’s safe around that guy!

Paula Abdul will be an ex-factor on the “X Factor.” The former “American Idol” judge has been given the boot from the talent competition show.

According to TMZ, Paula received the news from a lawyer connected to the show and still hasn’t heard from Simon, who personally invited Paula to join the show’s inaugural season last year.

Damn….we thought Simon and Paula were secret lovers. Guess they aren’t as cool as they act!

Rihanna, Pharrell and Enrique Iglesias lent their musical expertise on Wednesday night’s (Oct 12) episode of “The X Factor.”

Rihanna joined X Factor judge L.A. Reid at his home in the Hamptons mentoring the boys, and Pharrell was over at Paula Abdul‘s house helping her out and mentoring the groups.

Nicole Scherzinger got some help from her friend Enrique Iglesias, who critiqued the contestants aged over 30, while Simon Cowell‘s guest judge Mariah Carey was unable to fulfill her duties due to her flight being grounded because of Hurricane Irene.

The stars were out last night on the red carpet of the 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards!

Held at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles and hosted by Jane Lynch, the 2011 Emmys featured red carpet appearances from tons of celebs, including actresses Taraji P. Henson, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kerry Washington, Lea Michele and Amber Riley from “Glee,” rappers/actors Common and LL Cool J, supermodel Heidi Klum and her husband Seal, TV personalities Kelly Osbourne and Paula Abdul, actor Laurence Fishburne and plenty others.

Looks like Cheryl Cole won’t be coming to the USA to judge on Simon Cowell’s “X Factor” after-all. According to new reports, the British singer lost her spot to Pussycat Dolls breakout star Nicole Scherzinger, who has previously guest judged on the original UK version of “X Factor.”

After Cole was announced as a judge for X Factor USA, Simon and his team caught a lot of flack for their choice with the general consensus being “Cheryl who?” But Cowell, convinced his pick would win over some fans in the States, stood by first his choice. FOX, however, didn’t agree with Simon, and gave Cheryl the boot.

But why would FOX hire Cheryl, then just a week or so later, fire her without reason? Well, according to TMZ, producers were largely concerned that her thick English accent would be difficult for American audiences to understand, and not only that, but Cole and fellow judge Paula Abdul has a “lack of chemistry” … and one or the other simply had to go.

Producers now want Cheryl to return to the UK version of the show, but sources on the inside say she is so pissed off at how the situation was handled, that she may nix her relationship with “X-Factor” altogether.

Ouch!

Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul must be trying to get that “old thing” back. The two TV personalities, who were co-judges on “American Idol,” shared a quick kiss yesterday afternoon (Sun. May 8) as they reunited at the Los Angeles auditions of their new show the “X Factor.”

Fox officially confirmed yesterday that Paula Abdul will be joining the X Factor judge’s panel alongside Simon, Cheryl Cole and Antonio “L.A.” Reid. And Simon says he’s thrilled to have his old friend back.

“We almost weren’t going to do the show,” Cowell said. “This show would never have been the same without Paula and I can’t believe I am saying this – I have missed her a lot, and I am thrilled she’s on the show.”

Paula Abdul is set to be sitting back at the judging table with Simon Cowell, this time on Fox’s highly anticipated “The X Factor”.

“This show would never have been the same without Paula and I can’t believe I am saying this – I have missed her a lot, and I am thrilled she’s on the show,” Cowell said in a Fox press release.

Expressing equal excitement as Cowell, Abdul revealed

“I am excited beyond words to be a part of THE X FACTOR. I couldn’t be happier to bring my love for cultivating talent and performance to such a wildly anticipated show,” she said in the same press release.  “I’m also delighted and grateful to be sitting next to Simon again…but you might want to check back with me in a week or two!”

Other previously announced judges include British pop superstar Cheryl Cole and Grammy-winning producer and former Def Jam head honcho Antonio “L.A.” Reid. “The X Factor”, based on Cowell’s hit British show of the same name, will debut this fall on Fox.

This past Saturday (April 30), The White House held its annual White House Correspondents Dinner and some of the A-List’s biggest and brightest were in attendance.

Attendees to the highly prestigious event, hosted at the White House in Washington, D.C, included Hollywood starlet Scarlett Johansson and her new boo Sean Penn, Carmelo Anthony and Lala Vazquez, Paula Abdul, Will.i.am, Cee-lo Green, President Obama’s biggest detractor Donald Trump, and many more.

In a recent interview with Nikki Finke of Deadline.com, Cowell dished:

“I’ve always wanted Paula. Always been very vocal about that. I missed her the second she left the show. Always loved working with her even though she can be a pain…We’ve agreed that we would meet as many people as possible, and now we’re reaching the deadline we’ve got to make the decision soon. But I think she’s got a really good shot.”

If all goes according to Simon’s master plan, Abdul will be joining Simon when the show hits screens on the FOX network along with industry veteran L.A. Reid and unknown to the US, British X Factor judge, Cheryl Cole.

‘X Factor USA’ is due to premiere sometime in the fall.

Now we have an even better reason to watch The X-Factor when it makes its arrival over here in the United States. Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden says two of Hollywood’s hottest women, Beyonce and Megan Fox, may have their own seat as a judge on the show!

Beyonce would be good — and maybe Megan Fox because she has a crush on the Cowell,” Holden told the U.K.’s Sun. She also believes that ex-American Idol judge Paula Abdul, 47, will make a reappearance as a judge on the new X-Factor.

“My prediction is Simon will bring Paula Abdul out of the toy box and let her play on the X-Factor panel,” she said. Holden, who judges alongside 50-year-old Cowell on Britain’s Got Talent, added: “Simon and three girls would be ace — imagine the sexual tension!”

Other reports also suggest that the show has lined up Beyonce to serve as a guest judge on the U.K.’s X-Factor later this year.

“Simon leaves nothing to chance and is planning for the future already,” a source told the U.K.’s News of the World. “He wants to bring in Beyonce. And what Simon wants, Simon gets. Expect Beyonce on the panel. Nothing has been confirmed yet because the deal hasn’t been sealed … but she’ll be there in some form.

Former American Idol judge Paula Abdul thinks she can be the next Oprah now that the talk show queen will end her reign after next year.

“I have really great ideas,” Abdul told Extra Monday. Abdul, 47, said she hopes to do a talk show in the next two to three years. “It would be fun and quirky and it would be insightful,” she said. “It would be fun to jam with the band and have amazing guests and introduce amazing different formats on the show.”

The Grammy winner is confident in the potential project.”I feel I would be really good at it. I have the ability to connect with people on a level,” Abdul explained. “I’ve proven to pierce the heartstrings, but also to be celebratory and bring out the best in people.”

Abdul respects Winfrey and calls her a “phenomenon” who “broke barriers and let the path for other women to be empowered.” She added, “Like ‘American Idol,’ there’s a place and time that makes history. That’s Oprah.”

Rapper Snoop Dogg, former American Idol judge Paula Abdul and American Idol season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert hosted a press conference announcing the nominees for the 2009 American Music Awards. The media event was held at the Beverly Hills Hotel in California earlier today (Oct 13).

VH1′s Divas 2009 aired live from the Brooklyn Academy of Music Thursday night (Sep 17) in New York City and was hosted by former American Idol judge Paula Abdul. The “divas” for this year’s concert were Jennifer Hudson, Miley Cyrus, Leona Lewis, Adele, Jordin Sparks and Kelly Clarkson.

Paula Abdul has a new gig! The former American Idol judge has officially signed a deal to host “VH1 Divas,” set to air live on September 17th at 9 P.M. She expressed her excitement for her one night gig to her 1,000,000+ followers on Twitter:

This year’s VH1 Divas show will honor Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Jordin Sparks, Leona Lewis and Miley Cyrus- I am so excited!!

In related news, American Idol alum Jordin Sparks was announced as the latest performer to appear on the show. She will be joining Leona Lewis, Adele, Miley Cyrus and Kelly Clarkson. Additional performers and participants will be announced in the coming weeks before the show airs.

“With sadness in my heart, I’ve decided not to return to Idol. I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from day 1 become an international phenomenon. What I want to say most, is how much I appreciate the undying support and enormous love that you have showered upon me. It truly has been breathtaking, especially over the past month. I do without any doubt have the BEST fans in the entire world and I love you all.

Paula’s rep declined to comment, except to confirm that she really is leaving the show, which will begin taping its ninth season this Thursday in Denver. No reason was given for Paula’s departure, but according to TMZ, Paula had been negotiating for a big raise and the deadline for signing the dotted line on her new contract was this week.

Fox TV had this to say:

“Paula Abdul has been an important part of the American Idol family over the last eight seasons and we are saddened that she has decided not to return to the show. While Paula will not be continuing with us, she’s a tremendous talent and we wish her the best.”

Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi will all be returning for Season 9, which is set to premiere in January 2010. American Idol just doesn’t seem like it will be the same without Paula!
