Oprah Winfrey & Michelle Obama Cover O Magazine

Television and worldwide mogul Oprah Winfrey interviewed our First Lady, Michelle Obama, for O Magazine. First Lady Obama and Oprah shared the magazine too, which marks the first time in O Magazine history that antoher human being (besides Oprah herself) has covered the popular women’s magazine. Peep a snippet of the interview below:

For all the majesty of the White House, the First Lady has already infused it with a palpable ease; her presence makes the place feel open and approachable. When we sit down to talk, she seems as relaxed as she did when I first interviewed her and her husband in their Chicago apartment in 2004. “This room has the best light in the house,” she tells me as we settle in, shoes off, on a comfortable sofa. “And there’s pie here, too. The pie in the White House is dangerously good.” — Oprah

Oprah: So after the inauguration, what was your first weekend in the White House like?

Michelle Obama: Well, we still had family here, so it was almost like a wedding. A huge, very complicated wedding. The last visitors didn’t leave until Sunday. And then the first Monday was kind of weird. You know: Now we live here, and Barack is getting up and going to work, and it’s just us. This is our home now.

Oprah: I had heart palpitations coming through the White House gate, recognizing that this really is now your home. It’s the White House, and it’s your home.

Michelle Obama: And it’s a beautiful home. When you go out and come back, especially at night, with all the white lights on—it’s just beautiful. We feel privileged, and we feel a responsibility to make it feel like the people’s house. We have the good fortune of being able to sleep here, but this house belongs to America.

Singer Jennifer Hudson dropped by the Oprah show this past Friday (Feb. 27th) to chat with the famous (understatement, we know) talk-show host and perform on the show in one of her first performances since her Fall 2008 tragedy when her estranged brother-in-law shot and killed her mother, brother and young nephew.

When Oprah asked her how she was, she responded stating that she was in a “very good place” and was just excited to be back at work performing and doing what she loves to do.

“I’m good, I’m really good. I’m just glad to be back and glad to be working and just doing what I love to do, you know? It’s like therapy.”

Check out the entire interview and her performance of her latest single “If This Isn’t Love” in the video above.

I’ve been a little detached from the internet over the past couple of weeks due to a few offline obligations and what-not, but I’m slowly getting Gossip On This back into the groove of things. I’m not sure if many other blogs have shown a lot of these but here are a few photos of some of the biggest names in Hollywood watching history in the making as Barack Obama was sworn into office as the 44th President of the U.S.

Even Oprah can somehow separate herself from the most famous celebrities making her seem even more powerful and influential than what she already is. Celebrities like Beyonce, Jay-Z, Diddy, T.I., and more were politely shooed away by President-Elect Obama prior to his victory speech last night at Grant Park Chicago. The president-elect extended his welcome to the innaugration in January though. But Oprah was allowed to cheer Obama on amongst the crowd of 200,000 in Chicago last night, and said the following to British cable network BBC:

“It feels like hope won,” the TV icon told Britain’s BBC. “It feels like there’s a shift in consciousness. It feels like something really big and bold has happened here, like nothing ever in our lifetimes did we expect this to happen.”

Us everyday Americans weren’t the only ones excited last night when it was officially announced that Barack Obama had been elected the 44th President of the United States of America! (Sidebar: Wow, it feels really good to be able to say that) Stars like Oprah Winfrey, Spike Lee, the Rev. Jesse Jackson, and Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas all showed their excitement last night at Grant Park in Chicago, IL, where they were in the midst of a crowd of over 200,000 people cheering on President-Elect Obama. Here are some flicks of Mya (don’t feel bad if you don’t remember who she is) vacationing on the beaches of Barbados. I hear homegirl dipped out on a recent performance and pissed off the locals. The fact that she was even gonna attempt to revive her long-ago dead career should have pissed them off.

Hell, the last time we saw her, she was doing the peanut butter stomp with Yo Gabba Gabba. Unfortunately if you would like to see the former singer making a fool of herself, then you’ll have to do your own perusing around youtube, because the video we posted here is “no longer available.”

Career … or no career, I’d still hit. 2wice! =)

Oprah Winfrey to Launch “OWN” TV Network

According to All Hip Hop, daytime talk show host Oprah Winfrey has teamed with Discovery Communications to launch a new multi-platform media venture named The Oprah Winfrey Network [OWN].

Winfrey, who has criticized some Hip-Hop music, as well as various media outlets for their portrayal of African-American men and women, will serve as chairman of OWN. She will have full editorial over OWN’s content and will be responsible for the programming, branding and creative vision of the network. OWN is slated to debut in 2009 in more than 70 million homes, on what is currently the Discovery Health Channel. “Fifteen years ago, I wrote in my journal that one day I would create a television network, as I always felt my show was just the beginning of what the future could hold,” Oprah Winfrey said in a statement. “For me, the launch of ‘The Oprah Winfrey Network’ is the evolution of the work I’ve been doing on television all these years and a natural extension of my show.”

The network will target women, men and their families, encouraging them to “live their best lives, and by doing so, lift the lives of those around them in ever-widening circles.” OWN is currently seeking a CEO to oversee the day-to-day operations of the venture immediately. Various rappers have criticized Winfrey, claiming that her Oprah Winfrey television show tends to cast Hip-Hop music in a negative light. Rappers like Ludacris, 50 Cent, Ice Cube and others have named checked Winfrey in songs and interviews. “I listen to some Hip-Hop. I’ve been accused of not liking Hip-Hop and that’s just not true,” Winfrey said. “I got a little 50 [Cent] in my iPod. I really do. I like ‘In Da Club.’ Have you heard the beat to ‘In Da Club’? Love that, love Jay-Z, love Kanye, love Mary J. Mary J. is one of my friends.”

Stedman Won’t get a Dime When Oprah Kicks the Bucket…

… but her yet-to-be adopted children will! Ain’t that a bitch?! It’s been reported that talk-show host, and queen of white women all over, Oprah Winfrey, has left her partner of 21 years, Stedman Graham, out of her will. The media mogul recently drew up the legal document, leaving none of her $2 billion fortune to her Graham in the event of her passing, according to MSNBC and The National Enquirer.

Instead, she has dictated that her money will be donated to several charities and the three daughters she plans to adopt, without the help of best-selling author and motivational speaker Graham. A source says:

“(Adoption) is something she has always wanted to do. There’s no talk of her adopting the children with Stedman — this is something she’s going to do by herself.”

First she calls off the engagement, and now this? Whoever the 3 girls she plans to adopt are, they’re going to be some rich mofos. Stedman better be stashing away some used Kleenexes, or chicken bones, or something so he can get his eBay on!
