Nia Long is a mommy again!

The “Big Momma’s House” actress and her basketball player husband Ime Udoka welcomed a baby boy, their first child together, on Monday, he rep told E! Online.

Long, who is also a mother to a 10-year-old boy from a previous relationship, named her newborn son Kez Sunday Udoka.

“This is the most exciting time in our lives,” Long and Udoka told People in a statement this past June when they announced they were expecting. “Words can’t explain how thrilled we are by the new addition to our family. We feel truly blessed and appreciate all the well wishes and prayers.”

Nia Long was initially told by her doctor that it would be difficult for her to get pregnant at 40 years old. The actress told Ebony Magazine in her recent cover story:

“I honestly asked God for this. I remember I was driving home from the doctor, and I called [my boyfriend] Ime, and I was like, ‘Babe, I’m really kind of sad right now. The doctor actually said if I wanted to have more children, it would be hard.’ The next time [Ime] came to visit, he said, ‘I don’t believe that.’ I said, ‘You don’t?’ He said, ‘No.’ And I said, ‘Good, me neither.’ Then I got pregnant.”

Taking cues from Demi Moore, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, Paula Patton and other celebrities who have posed pregnant … a very pregnant Nia Long shows off her baby bump on the cover of the November 2011 issue of Ebony Magazine.

Inside, the 40-year-old actress opens up about her pregnancy and the pressure society puts on women to get married and have babies at a certain age.

“Society tells us ‘Get married before 30…’ I think if we just take our time as women, and do what comes natural to us and for us, we would make fewer mistakes,” she told the mag.

The 2011 BET Awards were held Sunday night (Jun 26) in Los Angeles, California at the Shrine Auditorium … and the show, hosted by actor/comedian Kevin Hart, featured appearances/performances from Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Taraji P. Eddie Murphy and family gathered at the Juliet Supperclub in New York City on Tuesday (Jan 18) to celebrate his daughter Bria Murphy’s new partnership with Softsheen-Carson as their new spokes model.

Bria’s mother Nicole Mitchell and sister Shayne looked happy to be there in support of the 21-year-old. In addition, actress Nia Long and model Tyson Beckford were also at the event. Congrats, Bria!

Held Thursday night (Mar 4) at the Beverly Hills Hotel in California, the annual event honored a room full of women, including Cicely Tyson, Gabourey Sidibe, Zoe Saldana, Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige and more for their achievements in Hollywood and in the entertainment industry.

Michael Jackson‘s brothers (L – R): Jermaine, Tito, Jackie and Marlon arrived together on the red carpet of the King of Pop‘s new film, “This Is It,” which premiered worldwide Wednesday (Oct 28) and made $2.2 million on its opening night in North America Tuesday (Oct 27). Actress Nia Long shed her threads to team up with PETA in their popular “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” campaign that urges people to “be comfortable in your own skin and let animals keep theirs.” Above you can check her out butt azz naked (and obviously photoshopped) on a subway train in the animal rights group’s anti-fur campaign.

Nia believes that “all things that have given life deserve to live.” She also went on to say: “In being a responsible adult and really understanding what happens for one fur coat and how many animals are killed and slaughtered for one fur coat, it just isn’t worth it to me.”

In a recent interview with the U.K. based Pride Magazine, the 38-year-old Brooklyn native had this to say about Beyonce‘s acting skills:

“I didn’t see ‘Obsessed,’ so I can’t comment, but it’s just not about how talented you are anymore. It’s about, ‘How much box-office revenue will this person generate?’ When you see certain people – we won’t name names – they just don’t have the skill, and no one in their team has said, ‘You need acting classes.’”

The 38-year-old actress, who last starred on the ABC series ‘Big Shots,’ said there are some exceptions.

“If you take time to develop your craft, God bless you. Jamie Foxx is an example of both [an actor and singer].”

Long also vented to the glossy about the quality of roles Hollywood offers black actresses.

“If you were able to take all the black actresses and the choices we’ve made collectively, it’s a pure reflection of what you see on film. People need to work. But the content? The opportunities for black actresses are more widespread today, but the quality has suffered,” she offered.

Days before the graphic photo of Rihanna‘s facial injuries was released, several stars were asked to weigh in and deliver their thoughts on the situation between Chris Brown and Rihanna, which occured about 2 weeks ago.
