Jay- Z performed live at the 2011 Adult Swim Upfront event last week, which was held at the Roseland Ballroom in NYC Wednesday night (May 18).

Ne-Yo, Pharrell Williams and Swizz Beatz were also holding it down at the event along with many others celebs. During the press event, Adult Swim — a “sub-channel” that airs on Cartoon Network — announced the launch of three new series,”The Heart, She Holler”, “China, IL”, and “Tight Bros,” all due to premiere this fall.

L.A. radio station KIIS FM held their annual Wango Tango concert last Saturday night (May 14) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The event was hosted by Ryan Seacrest and co-hosted by Britney Spears, while stars like LL Cool J, Paris Hilton, Jordin Sparks and more were in the mix and spotted on the red carpet. The concert also featured performances by Jennifer Lopez, Ne-Yo, Pitbull, Ke$ha, Selena Gomez, Lupe Fiasco and many others.

Ne-Yo has already expressed his distaste in users of “auto-tune.” And in a recent interview with our buddies over at That Grape Juice, the singer/songwriter condemned the use of it once again, and said it was a cheating method for Pop singers to use.

Speaking on the widely used production method he explained:

“I was talking about anybody who says that they are a ‘singer’ and lets auto-tune do the heavy lifting. I feel like if you’re doing this for the purpose of a trend then you’re cheating! It’s cheating! I feel like if you’re a singer then sing.

“Mind you, auto-tune and melodyne, these are tools that are supposed to help make your music better. I always use the terminology of it being a safety net. Singing is like walking a tightrope, and auto-tune and melodyne are supposed to be used just in case you fall. You’re not supposed to put on your auto-tune wings and jump off the cliff and fly around!

“A lot of cats are getting lazy to the point that they’ll sing it just as good as it has to be and let auto-tune do the rest.”

Ne-Yo is currently overseas on tour in Japan.

What do you think about Ne-Yo’s opinion on the use of auto-tune?

Platinum selling singer/songwriter Ne-Yo recently had to rip a few pages out of Donald Trump’s playbook and  tell a few of his back up dancers “You’re Fired!”

According to published reports, the dancers didn’t want to travel to Japan where the singer has a series of concert dates lined up because they feared for their safety in the tsunami stricken country.

Ne-Yo’s manager informed the dancers that despite their safety concerns — specifically the threat of aftershocks and exposure to radiation — they were still going ahead with the Japan dates. That’s when four dancers decided not to make the trip to Japan. And as a direct result, those dancers were then told by the tour manager they were dropped from the rest of the tour, which wraps in Korea on March 30th.

Ne-Yo has two more shows in Japan, March 22nd and 24th, with some proceeds from the shows going to victims of the earthquake.

“Beautiful Monster” singer Ne-Yo is hitting the headlines again and this time he’s dishing on why his album sales for his 4th studio album Libra Scale were poor. He explained that due to focusing his attention on the movie-based concept for the LP, he may have confused fans.

He told the Associated Press:

“I didn’t get to pay as much attention to the music as I normally would because I was so focused on the story line that the album is based off of. There was so much energy put into that, that when it came time to put the music together, you know, for one there wasn’t as much time and for two there wasn’t as much energy.”

The singer also starred in recent box office smash “Battle: Los Angeles” and acknowledges that going back and forth on both projects affected his song-writing.

“I was kind of back and forth with (both projects). It’s almost impossible to take the amount of focus to shoot a film like this and the amount of focus it takes to put an album together and do them at the same time.”

We agree. Libra Scale was definitely not your best work, Mr. Ne-Yo. We’ll give you one more chance though, just make sure you do it RIGHT the next time around.

Last week, platinum selling singer-songwriter Ne-Yo, who has never been featured on the cover of Rolling Stone, took to his Twitter page to question why such an iconic magazine would plaster such an iconic tart like Jersey Shore’s “Snooki” on their highly respected cover:

“Wow. Snooki is on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. Really? I quit,” Ne-Yo tweeted on March 7, adding, “(Just kidding, but almost serious….). No disrespect to Snooki, I don’t know her, but damn Rolling Stone?” he wrote in a second tweet. “REALLY? REALLY! I guess…..”

Snooki, 23, responded on Twitter the very next day, asking:

“Neyo’s mad that I got the cover of rolling stone? Hm you lost a loyal fan,” she tweeted. “What a buzz kill.#sorry.”

The war of words went a step further when 31-year-old Ne-Yo defended his public opinion to E! Online:

“I don’t know her so I can’t disrespect her but I feel like Rolling Stone is a music magazine,” he told the site, “and for them to put her on the cover, it’s like, ‘Really?!’

Then this past Sunday (Mar 13), Snooki  finally threw the last blow when she  told UsMagazine.com:

“I’m a big fan of Ne-Yo,” she admitted. “Every song was on my iPod and I deleted them yesterday just because of his comments.”

“Why do you hate me? I’m the nicest person ever,” Snooki told him via the gossip site. “I understand you are a little mad cause your career is not up right now and I’m on the cover but you know what – like I’m a nice person and I deserve it, so get over it.”

Ouch! It has to suck when you get publicly “ethered” by a no talent, alcoholic reality “slore” with about 10 minutes left in her 15 minutes of fame. Harsh!

LeBron James isn’t the only one coming out with a cartoon series…

In a recent interview with the Associated Press, R&B singer Ne-Yo revealed that he has landed a deal with Cartoon Network to release a show called “I Heart Tuesday.”

Ne-Yo says that the animated series was created for his sister and will focus on the life of “a 16-year-old girl that inherits the curse of her bloodline and she’s forced to save the world from the unknown evil every Tuesday for the rest of her life.”

But that’s not all the 31year-old entertainer has up his sleeve. Ne-Yo is also in the process of creating a line of hats.

Since megastar Beyonce released her megahit Irreplacable, Ne-Yo has made known his feelings concerning the song. In a recent interview with UK radio station Choice FM, the “Beautiful Monster” singer said:

“One song that I gave away and didn’t want to is Beyoncé’s ‘Irreplaceable.’ I honestly wrote that song for myself. But that song actually taught me a very interesting lesson – men and women don’t actually think that much differently on the grand scheme of things However, a man singing it comes across a little bit misogynistic, a little bit mean.”

However, shortly after his quotes hit the Internet, Ne-Yo took to his Twitter to clarify his statement, claiming that he was misquoted. See what he said below:

Ok. What’s this I hear about me wishing I never gave Beyonce’ Irreplaceable? Y’all ACTUALLY believe I said that? SERIOUSLY? Wow. Aiight. Believing everything you read is just as bad as letting somebody run you. Stop letting these media haters and bloggers control y’all.

You wanna know ’bout me? ASK ME. You wanna know if I said somethin’ ASK ME. C’mon y’all. I KNOW you’re smarter than that. All good. Beyonce’ is a friend of mine. I’m sure she knows I’d never dis her in regard to Irreplaceable or at all for that matter. (Source)

In a recent interview with Amaru Don TV, the R&B singer expressed his dislike for the form of music T-Pain made famous.

Read what he said below:

“Auto-tune was meant to be a safety net, right[...]It was not supposed to be wings. You’re not supposed to strap it on your back and jump off the building. That’s not what auto-tune was meant to be. If you’re using it for what it’s meant for, cool, fine, and good[...]not, I can’t sing at all, so let’s turn auto-tune all the way up so I just sound like Willy the Robot. That wack! That’s terrible! It takes all the character out of your voice and you become a robot[...]Take the damn training wheels off. That’s how I feel about it.”

Estelle celebrated her birthday just a day before, and Ne-Yo recently opened up a boutique with his girlfriend Monyetta called “Emerlyn & Ester”. Congrats to everyone!

Black Hollywood gathered together over the weekend (Sat. Jan 15) in Washington, D.C. for the 4th Annual BET Honors. Stars like Jamie Foxx, Ne-Yo, Keyshia Cole, Trey Songz, Boris Kodjoe and wife Nicole Ari Parker, and more, walked the red carpet before making their way into the Warner Theater for the ceremony.

The pre-recorded show, hosted by Gabrielle Union, also featured performances by Keyshia Cole, Ne-Yo and Tank, as well as appearances by supermodel Iman, writer/director Tyler Perry and others. The 2011 BET Honors air on TV next month (Mon. Feb 21) at 9pm.

John Legend and his girlfriend Christine Teigen partied it up with singers Ne-Yo and Estelle, as well as “Jersey Shore” star DJ Pauly D, at Legend’s 32nd birthday party at RdV lounge Wednesday night (Jan 5) in New York City.

With his gorgeous Thai-Norwegian model girlfriend Christine Teigen at his side, the ‘Live It Up’ singer hit the dance floor for most of the night, stopping to blow out candles on a giant birthday cake bearing a picture of him as a kid and pop open a magnum of Moet Chandon, which RdV bedazzled with rhinestones that said, ‘Happy Birthday John!’ “He loved that,” one partygoer tells PopEater.

“He had the best time,” the source says. “He didn’t stop dancing the whole night. He had so much fun with his friends and with Christine. The vibe in the room was electric. Everybody was really happy and was really celebrating. He loved everything,” says the partygoer. “He got there at around 11 and stayed for hours. It was a really great night.”

R&B star Ne-Yo was in London a couple months back to promote his new album “Libra Scale” on Biz Live Sessions.

Ne-Yo played songs like “One In A Million” and “Beautiful Monster” for the show which is known to invite artists to perform acoustic sets in an intimate studio setting. In addition, Ne-Yo had some fun posing for a promotional shoot that same day.

R&B singer Ne-Yo isn’t all that happy about his upcoming album Libra Scale being leaked on the Internet with its release just weeks away….but he’s remaining positive about it!

In a series of tweets recently posted, Ne-Yo revealed how he felt about the whole situation and how he isn’t going to let the haters rain on his parade. Check out what he wrote below…

Salutations all. I’m in japan and my album officially came out today out here. Today is a day that I SHOULD be very happy, but it has been brought to my attention that my album was hacked and leaked in the U.S. roughly a month before it’s U.S. release. Initially this angered me. It’s stealing plain n’ simple. But then I started thinking. Why do I make music….? To sell records, make money, or is it because I love it, love how it touches people, how it helps people? The honest answer is both… However, my love for music and it’s effect on people, outweighs my desire to simply sell records, or get that number one debut spot.

In a time where people buy their status and falsify their success, can those things really be that important to me? The answer is no. So with that said, I’ve come to this place of mental peace. No longer stressing people that steal the music, how it’ll effect my sales. The bottom line is, I worked hard on this project. The music, the concept, the whole lot is for the people, respect or not. So if you as a fan give a damn about me, buy the album when it comes out. If you don’t care, go get it off the internet. Your choice. Ether way, the music, the concept, the whole lot, served it’s purpose. It gave the people something quality to vibe to. I’m not solely in the business of selling records. I’m in the business of making art. That’s what an artist does, period.

So with that twit fam and haters alike, I bid you farewell for now, and leave you with this…. I’LL BE DAMNED IF YOU HACKER FUCKS GET MY NEXT ALBUM BEFORE IT’S TIME!!! FUCK YOU ALL!!!! Have a nice day.

Ludacris (with the help of some of his celebrity friends) hosted his annual all star celebrity basketball game in conjunction with his LudaDay Weekend festivities over Labor Day Weekend in Atlanta.

Sunday (Sep 5) at the 5th Annual LudaDay Weekend Celebrity Basketball Tournament, held at Morehouse College’s Forbes Arena in Atlanta, Luda, Chris Brown, Chris Paul and Terrence J‘s team (with Larenz Tate as assistant coach) competed against Nelly, Polow Da Don and Sammie‘s team (coached by Teyana Taylor with Kenyon Martin as the assistant coach) with Luda’s team taking the win at the final buzzer.

Other celebs spotted at the 5th Annual LudaDay Weekend Celebrity Basketball Tournament were Kelly Rowland, Lance Gross, Keshia Knight Pulliam, Bow Wow, Ne-Yo. And at the end of the game, Luda’s non-profit (The Ludacris Foundation) was presented with a $25,000 donation from AirTran.

R&B singer/songwriter Ne-Yo and the “Queen of Pop” Beyonce haven’t hit the studio together since Ne-Yo penned “Irreplaceable,” one of the Beyonce’s biggest hits over the span of her 7-year solo career. But according to a recent interview with Access Atlanta, Ne-Yo says a new collaboration the Pop superstar is coming along great!

Q: So how is this new collaboration with Beyonce coming?

Ne-Yo: (After a good chuckle) It’s coming along nicely. I can’t speak too much on it, but it’s another direction for her, and she’s carving out her own niche. In a minute nobody will be in Beyonce’s lane. They really can’t get in her lane now, but they really can’t get in her lane after this album. (Note: Ne-Yo collaborated with Beyonce in 2006 for her “B’day” CD. He helped pen “Irreplaceable,” which became one of Beyonce’s biggest hits.)

D/L: NE-YO – ONE IN A MILLION

The “Beautiful Nightmare” singer recently revealed in an interview with MTV that he had been writing songs for the late Pop idol Michael Jackson before his death and even sent him three or four drafts a week while he was on tour. But has now decided to not sell the tracks or even use them himself out of respect for MJ.

The singer/songwriter told MTV:

“I can’t sell them on to someone else, as that would be disrespectful, but I also think it might be disrespectful to bring them out myself. So I don’t know, I’ll sit on them and wait. It’s definitely quality music but they were songs written absolutely for Michael Jackson. Hopefully the songs will see the light of day, it just has to be the right way.”

Big-ups to Ne-Yo for that one! There are some things you just don’t touch…

Songwriters were honored Friday night (Jun 25) during the 23rd Annual ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards, which was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. R&B singer Ne-Yo, along with the songwriting/production team Christopher “Tricky” Stewart and Terius “The Dream” Nash, were presented with the night’s top honor: “Songwriter of the Year,” while rapper Dr. Dre was honored with the “Founders Award,” which was presented to him by his good friend Eminem.

Other celebrities and honorees at Friday night’s ASCAP awards were Jermaine Dupri, his artist Dondria, singer Janelle Monae, rapper Gucci Mane (who performed during the show) and more. Even Ron Artest from the Los Angeles Lakers made a random appearance at the 2010 ASCAP awards.

We knew we were right about this one too. R&B singer Ne-Yo will be joining the likes of Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz because he now has a little one on the way! In a recent interview with Ebony at a photo shoot for his upcoming album Libra Scale, Neyo talked about his excitement on being a father.

“I am 30 and I do have my first child on the way, and I’m very, very, very excited about that. It’s a New Year’s baby and I’m just in a really good place right now.”
