A man who shot and killed an escort because she refused to have sex with him was found “not guilty” of murder charges Wednesday by a jury in Bexar County, Texas.

According to the San Antonio Express-News, Ezekiel Gilbert shot 21-year-old Lenora Ivie Fargo in the neck in 2009 on Christmas Eve after she denied his requests for sex, and wouldn’t return the $150 he had paid her. Frago was critically injured and died several months later.

Gilbert testified in court this week that he had found Frago’s escort ad on Craigslist and was under the impression that sex was included in her $150 fee. He said that instead of having sex with him, Frago “walked around his apartment” and left after 20 minutes, saying she had to give the money to her driver, who he believed to be Frago’s pimp and “partner” in the theft.

During closing arguments Tuesday, Gilbert’s defense team conceded the shooting did occur but said the intent wasn’t to kill. Gilbert’s actions were justified, they argued, because he was trying to retrieve stolen property: the $150 he paid Frago. It became theft when she refused to have sex with him or give the money back, they said.

The Texas law that allows people to use deadly force to recover property during a nighttime theft was put in place for “law-abiding” citizens, prosecutors countered. It’s not intended for someone trying to force another person into an illegal act such as prostitution, they argued.

After he was acquitted, the 30-year-ol hugged his defense attorney, and also thanked God, his lawyers and the jury for being able to “see what wasn’t the truth” and for giving him a “second chance.”

“I sincerely regret the loss of the life of Ms. Frago,” Gilbert said Wednesday. “I’ve been in a mental prison the past four years of my life. I have nightmares. If I see guns on TV where people are getting killed, I change the channel.”

Had he been convicted, the San Antonio Express-News reported, Gilbert could have faced up to life in prison.

The senseless 2012 murder of a 16-year-old girl at the hands of her two close friends happened reportedly because her killers no longer wanted to be friends with her.

Last July, Skylar Neese was stabbed to death and left on the side of the road by Rachel Shoaf, 16, and an unidentified minor.

In an interview with CNN, the victim’s father, Dave Neese was asked if he had anything to say his daughters’ killers. Rather than stay quiet or make up some bullshit about “forgiveness,” he had this to say:

“Rot in hell … I want them to go through the pain and agony my daughter went through. I want them to have no life because Skylar doesn’t have one.”

The shocking incident, which occurred in Star City, West Virginia, was initially treated as a missing persons case.

Surveillance footage showed Neese sneaking out of her bedroom window and getting into a car with friends. The friends initially claimed that they drove around town and dropped her off near her home.

For six months, police searched for the teen and despite the intense press coverage, they turned up very few leads.

Eventually, Shoaf cracked, confessing to police what had happened. Shoaf admitted that she and another classmate drove Neese to a spot in rural Pennsylvania where they stabbed her and left her lifeless body on the side of the road.

The victim’s father described the group of friends as “inseparable.”

Perhaps the most unsettling part is that the unnamed murderer actually called the victim’s father repeatedly while she was missing in order to find out what police knew.

It initially appeared as though the girl was a concerned friend who was eager to know if authorities were any closer to catching her killer. Now it’s clear that she just wanted to make sure no one was close to finding out what she did.

So why on earth did these two girls savagely murder their friend?

According to Neese’s father, they “didn’t want to be friends with her anymore.”

Let’s hope these evil little girls are facing a very, very, VERY long prison sentence.

A shocking new development in the case of murdered aspiring actress/model Julianna Redding has emerged.

The brunette beauty was murdered in 2008 at the age of 21 under mysterious circumstances.

An Arizona native, Redding moved to Los Angeles and waited tables while trying to get modeling and acting jobs. She was cast in a 2005 indie film titled “Kathy T Gives Good Hoover.”

Just before she was killed, she appeared in the “hometown hottie” section of Maxim magazine, and for this reason, most of the news stories on the crime have referred to her as a “Maxim model,” which is not necessarily accurate.

But before she had a chance to break into the entertainment business, she was brutally murdered in her apartment. She had been dragged, beaten and strangled. The case remained unsolved for two years until, as PEOPLE noted, a few troubling details emerged.

In July 2010, police arrested 44-year-old Kelly Soo Park for the crime after DNA evidence linked her to the murder.

Though several details surrounding the murder have not been released, it has been reported that Park was hired by her employer Dr. Munir Uwaydah to kill Redding. So what does this guy have to do with the victim? Apparently, he was involved in a business venture with her father Greg Redding.

Furthermore, around $1 million was transferred to Park by Uwaydah around the time of the murder.

According to the Los Angeles Times, an attorney for Uwaydah denies he had anything to do with the Redding’s death. In fact, it is believed that he fled to Lebanon after Park was arrested. Shockingly, the L.A. Times also alleges that the doctor briefly dated Redding.

Meanwhile, Redding’s father has not commented on the situation.

Despite the evidence linking Park to the crime, she was acquitted on Tuesday after a jury decided she was not guilty of first-degree murder.

The news shocked many in the court room and some shouted at Park, calling her a “murderer.”

Onlookers in the courtroom who knew victim Juliana Redding screamed obscenities and called defendant Kelly Soo Park a murderer.

They appeared ready to pounce on Park and were held back by deputies as she turned and was led through a rear entrance.

Jurors had been escorted out a back way before the outburst.

Park wept when the final verdict was announced. Redding’s family left the courthouse without comment.

District Attorney Jackie Lacey later issued a statement saying prosecutors believed in the strength of the evidence and had fought hard and fair in court.

“Although we disagree with the verdict, we respect our system of justice,” Lacey said.

A man has finally been sentenced for a brutal crime he committed over 20 years ago.

According to the Associated Press, Philip Ward killed his six week pregnant girlfriend, Veronica Bowen, on a New York City rooftop in 1989. At the time, he and Bowen had two children together.

The 46-year-old, pleaded guilty to the crime last month and was sentenced to 18 years to life in prison on Friday (Apr 5).

Bowen’s naked body was discovered on the roof of a Manhattan apartment building. Eerily enough her head had been cut off and it was never recovered.

So what took police so long to sentence this monster?

Investigators apparently did not have enough evidence to convict him until recently, when he confessed. According to Ward’s lawyer Franklin Rothman, he decided it was time to own up to the crime so that he could build a better relationship with his children.

“I killed Veronica Bowen,” Ward confessed in a New York prison.

Police now know that Ward and Bown were having severe domestic issues at the time of her death. The two, who met as teens while residing at a foster home, were raising their children together until she moved out of the apartment they both shared.

Bowen, 21, is believed to have been visiting her children on the night she was murdered. Ward purportedly believed that the child she was carrying belonged to another man.

Ward reportedly beat Bowen with a pipe and then stabbed her with a dagger. According to the prosecutor in the case, Bowen cried out “I’m sorry!” as she was being beaten by Ward; and in one heated final act of rage and aggression, he cut off her head with a knife.

He then scrubbed himself of evidence using the building’s water tower and changed his clothing. He also removed the victim’s clothing and trashed them.

Bowen was initially reported missing because her body was not discovered until 15 days after she was killed. Though Ward told investigators he buried her head in Riverside Park, they have yet to find it.

At Ward’s sentencing, Bowen’s sister said that the woman loved being a mother, adored her kids and was deeply in love with Ward, whom she trusted until the end.

“I am haunted by thoughts of what she must have felt in her last moments,” Bowen’s sister said to the judge. “I wish I could hug her again, talk to her, hear her voice and see her lovely face. She was my best friend. To die is one thing, but to die like that is the worst thing I can think of; it’s inhuman.”

All the more disturbing is that Ward is currently serving time for killing another woman, whom he started dating after he murdered Veronica Bowen.

Ward shot and killed girlfriend Sheila Jackson in 1994 and if that’s not horrific enough, he committed the murder in front of Jackson’s 11-year-old daughter and subsequently raped the little girl. It’s unfathomable to imagine what that poor child has had to deal with in her now adult life.

It would be nice to believe that a horrific crime like this one isn’t very common but unfortunately there have been a number of similar cases in recent years.

In 2008, a Greek man, 31, beheaded his 25-year-old girlfriend and her dog. The man then walked around with her severed head until he was apprehended by police.

In April 2011, a 23-year-old engineering student in India sliced off his 18-year-old girlfriend’s head with a dagger in front of his classmates.

This past January, a Niger man was arrested for cutting off his girlfriend’s head after he had sex with her. And just last month a 29-year-old Ghana man beheaded his estranged wife while in the midst of a love triangle.

A northwestern Montana man reportedly shot and killed the host of the Sportsman Channel show “A Rifleman’s Journal” after he flew into a jealous rage after he caught the TV personality with his wife.

According to Whitefish, Mont. police, 41-year-old Wayne Bengston shot and killed Gregory G. Rodriguez, 43, who was in town on business and visiting Bengston’s wife at her mother’s house in Whitefish, the Associated Press reported.

Police said Rodriguez and Bengston’s wife, who works for a firearms manufacturer, had met at a trade show and had become friends, and they were not romantically involved.

Bengston reportedly walked into mother-in-law’s house, where he saw his wife and Rodriguez enjoying a glass of wine, which set him off and he opened fire on Rodriguez in a jealous rage.

After the shooting, Bengston pistol-whipped his wife, then took their 2-year-old son to a relative’s house before he drove 25 miles to his West Glacier home and took his own life.

When Flathead County sheriff’s deputies arrived on Bengston’s property, they found his truck parked in the driveway, and a SWAT team tried to make contact with him, but they were unsuccessful. Officers eventually found his body with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

“It’s pretty much an open-and-closed case. Homicide and suicide,” Whitefish Police Chief Bill Dial said, according to TV Guide.

Gregory G. Rodriguez, a gun expert, was the host of The Sportsman Channel TV show “A Rifleman’s Journey”

The Sportsman Channel released a statement expressing how deeply saddened they were by Rodriguez’s shooting death, and how they will miss his “thoughtfulness, candor and dedication to encourage a safe and enjoyable outdoor experience for all.”

Gregory Rodriguez — of Sugar Land, Texas — leaves behind a wife and two kids. In addition to his TV show, Rodriguez was also the founder and CEO of Global Adventure Outfitters. He was also a contributing editor at Shooting Times Magazine and other publications dedicated to guns.

The family of slain black gay Mississippi mayoral candidate Marco McMillian has issued a statement saying that the political hopeful was savagely beaten and left for dead near a river.

Family friend Carter Womack said that McMillian’s family received the information on their loved one’s brutal death from the Coahoma County coroner, Scotty Meredith, who declined to comment on the situation as of Monday, March 4th.

However, a person with direct knowledge of the investigation, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed to the Associated Press that McMillian had some bruises and there were burns on at least one area of his body.

Coroners still have yet to determine a cause of death, but Womack said that McMillian’s family was told that he was beaten and burned, and his body was drug under a fence and left near a Mississippi River levee when he was killed last week.

This is a very difficult time for us, the family of Marco Watson McMillian of Clarksdale, Mississippi, as we have lost our beloved son, family member, and friend. In this time of our great loss, we want to thank everyone for their words of comfort and support.

We know that Marco was brutally murdered. His body was found on Wednesday, February 26, 2013, beaten, dragged and burned (set afire). This was reported in our meeting with the local coroner on two occasions. We were informed that the official autopsy report could take two to four weeks to complete. We feel that this was not a random act of violence based on the condition of the body when it was found. Marco, nor anyone, should have their lives end in this manner.

Last Thursday (Feb 28), a 22-year-old man from Jackson, Mississippi named Lawrence Reed was arrested for and charged with the death of Marco McMillian.

Reed was targeted in the crime after he crashed McMillian’s SUV in a head-on collision earlier in the week, and during questioning, Reed told police where they could find McMillian’s body. It isn’t known whether or not Reed and McMillian knew each other, and Reed is currently being held in jail without bond.

After years as a dedicated community activist, McMillian — who was recognized in 2004 in Ebony Magazine as one of the nation’s “30 up-and-coming African Americans under 30″ — was running for Mayor of Clarksdale, Mississippi before he was brutally murdered. His slaying has received a ton of media attention, mainly due to his race and sexual orientation, which many believe to be the reason why he was killed.

Funeral services for Marco McMillian will be held at the Coahoma Community College in their Pinnacle building on Saturday, March 9th at 10 a.m.

A 23-year-old man from New York City who stabbed his mother to death, cut her body into pieces and then stuffed them in a series of trash bags that were scattered along several blocks was arrested and charged with murder last week. And apparently, before he discarded of his mother’s remains, he posed in a VERY disturbing photo with her severed head.

The unsettling image, snapped with his cellphone purportedly as a keepsake, was leaked to the New York Post, and it shows Bahsid McLean posing in front of the bathroom mirror, holding the bloody head of his slain mother as if it were a trophy.

Police say that the shocking photo is just one of several images they found on McLean’s cell phone. “I lost sleep over it. Just sheer inhumanity. It’s horrible what he did to her,” one law enforcement official told the Post.

Last Tuesday (Feb 26) morning, a man was out walking his dog when he made a gruesome discovery: the dismembered remains of a woman in a heavy duty plastic garbage bag that investigators later identified as 45-year-old Tanya Byrd, who was last seen alive the Monday before.

Police later found several other bags with the rest of her remains scattered along several blocks. After medical examiners completed an autopsy, they determined the following Wednesday that Byrd was stabbed in the neck before she died, and her death was officially ruled a homicide.

It was later discovered that her son Bahsid McLean was behind the gruesome murder after he confessed to the crime. He has since been placed on suicide watch.

According to police, after getting into an argument with his mother because she told him to grow up and move out, McLean fatally struck the woman while she was sleeping. He then stole money from her to purchase an electric chainsaw to cut up her body.

With the help of a friend (later identified as 26-year-old William Harris), McLean stuffed his mother’s body parts in three heavy-duty trash bags and dumped them in several different locations within blocks of each other.

At his arraignment, McLean — who wore a plastic bag because he kept urinating on himself — reportedly told the judge, “I didn’t do anything wrong.” He also made several other outbursts and was ultimately ordered to be held without bail.

Sources close to the family say McLean is troubled and he resented his mother, who worked as a home health aide and was described as a “beautiful” person and a “hard worker” by her sister.

McLean is said to be schizophrenic and his lawyer said he had been off his medication for days, the New York Daily News reported. His father discussed his history of violent tendencies, saying, “He did destructive things. He set fires. Nobody could control him.”

“He’s acted out in violent ways before, but I never thought he could do something like this. Not in a million years,” one family member, who wished to remain anonymous said.

On Thursday in Jackson, Mississippi, a 22-year-old man by the name of Lawrence Reed was charged with the death of openly gay mayoral candidate Marco McMillian.

The investigation for this case began Tuesday when a man crashed McMillan’s SUV into another car on U.S Highway 49 near the Coahoma and Tallahatchie county lines.

Interestingly enough, McMillian wasn’t in the vehicle during the crash, but on Wednesday morning, McMillian’s body was found near the Mississippi River levee.

McMillian may have been the first openly gay candidate running the conservative state of Mississippi.

He served four years as an international executive director of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. He was also the CEO of MWM & Associates — a consulting firm for nonprofit organizations.

According to his fraternity, he secured the first federal contract to raise awareness about the heavy impact of HIV and AIDS, and in 2004 McMillian was recognized as one the nation’s “30 up and coming African Americans” under the age of 30.

Considering the fact that a rather conservative state like Mississippi doesn’t support gay rights, and is also known for its racism, it wouldn’t be surprising if McMillan’s death turned out to be the result of a hate crime.

A young African American man with such gratitude, and willingness to change lives was taken from us most likely because he was gay, and the color of his skin most certainly didn’t help. What other motive could one have to kill this man?

According to Warren Strain, a spokesman with the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, the autopsy has been completed but toxicology and other test results are pending, and the cause of death will not be released until the report is completed.

Some very sad news out of the state of Oklahoma. Police have confirmed that the body of a missing 30-year-old woman from Oklahoma City was found in the trunk of her car Tuesday in a St. Louis, Missouri neighborhood.

Ebony Jackson‘s family says that she was visiting some friends the St. Louis area last week, but no one had heard from her since last Thursday.

Days earlier, her 3-month old son was found abandoned in a car seat in the hallway of an apartment building in Breckenridge Hills, MO. The child was clean, warm and in good health, and reportedly a full bottle nestled next to him.

While Jackson had a troubled relationship with her baby’s father, police have no immediate suspects, and have no idea how she went missing and ended up dead in the trunk of her car, and how her baby ended up inside the apartment complex. Foul play is suspected, and police are checking her phone records for any clues.

“It’s just totally out of character for her to be in a neighborhood like this, or just the car being in a neighborhood like this,” one family member told Channel 9 News in Oklahoma City.

Not much is really known about Jackson, other than her arrest history in Oklahoma City — three since 2005 (one for assaulting an OKC police officer, another for stealing from Dillard’s, and the most recent for using her son’s stroller to hide stolen merchandise at a local Walmart). Her family tells police that she suffered a brain injury in the past that causes her to have severe memory loss and mood swings.

Jackson’s boyfriend is in St. Louis at this time trying to bring their son back to Oklahoma where he lives.

NFL star Jovan Belcher — a linebacker for the Kansas City Chiefs — shot and killed his girlfriend, then took his own life early Saturday morning (Dec 1), according to various confirmed reports.

Officials from the Kansas City Police Department say that Belcher and his girlfriend Kasandra Perkins — who had just given birth to their daughter less than three months ago — had been arguing earlier in the morning at their home, at around 7:00 a.m. local time, when Belcher fatally shot her multiple times.

Perkins was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. Her mother was at the home and reportedly witnessed the shooting; and tipped police off about the incident.

According to police, 25-year-old Belcher left the scene, then drove about 5 miles to the team practice facility at Arrowhead Stadium and committed suicide in front of two team officials — Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli and head coach Romeo Crennel — who both spoke briefly with the NFL star before he turned the gun on himself.

Police say before he shot himself in the head, Belcher — who had been with the Chiefs for the past four seasons thanked Pioli and Crennel for everything they had done for him. The coaches told police they never felt as though they were in danger.

As of right now, authorities have no idea of a possible motive for the murder-suicide, which has obviously stunned his teammates, and came one day before the Chiefs are scheduled to play against the Carolina Panthers at home. The NFL has said that the game will go on as scheduled.

Actor Johnny Lewis — who once dated Katy Perry, and has starred on popular shows like “Sons of Anarchy” and “The O.C.” — is suspected of murdering an 81-year-old woman before falling to his own death.

According to TMZ, the 28-year-old’s body was found in the driveway of an L.A. home in the Los Feliz neighborhood Wednesday morning (Oct 26) … and the elderly woman who owned the home was found dead inside.

Police believe the woman is the victim of a homicide at he hands of Lewis, who is said to have beat her to death.

Witnesses say they heard the octogenarian woman screaming, and then saw Lewis outside her home attacking two other people with a 2×4 piece of wood and his bare hands. He then climbed onto the roof, and fell to his death.

The men who were attacked by Lewis told police that the actor — who tried to break into the home of one of the men — showed “super-human strength” and was “phenomenally strong,” and it took at least 3 people to hold him back.

Law enforcements say that Lewis — who was renting a room from the 81-year-old victim — is the sole suspect in the woman’s murder, and they are NOT looking for any other possible suspects.

Police also believe that Johnny was under the influence of some type of illicit drug — like PCP or meth — at the time of the bizarre incident.

One source told TMZ that Johnny had gone to a neighbor’s home earlier in the day to introduce himself. The neighbors say that Johnny, who they knew as a “nice guy,” had lived in that house before, moved away, and then came back.

It’s unclear what led to Jonny’s drug-fueled attacking spree that led to the murder of an elderly woman, and eventually, his own death.

Have your barf bags handy, cause this is one gruesome tale that would probably make even the fictional serial killer character Dexter blush.

David Viens, a California man, confessed to law enforcement that he actually killed and then slow cooked his wife Dawn, who had been reported missing.

The L.A. Times has the details on the killer’s confession:

“I just slowly cooked it, and I ended up cooking her for four days,” David Viens said on the tape, which was played in court.

“You cooked on [her] body for four days?” replied Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Richard Garcia.

“Before it was done,” Viens said. It was unclear from the interview where the cooking took place.

Viens, who happens to be a chef and restaurant owner, told police that his wife’s death was an accident. He got “violent” with his wife and duct taped her mouth and bound her arms and feet. The next morning, she was dead, according to reports.

It’s weird that she died from being tied up alone. Presumably her nose wasn’t blocked, so what happened? Did she just die from the trauma of her husband turning violent on her?

Unfortunately, her unnecessary death wasn’t the end of this tragedy. Once Viens discovered his wife’s body, he plotted on how he could get rid of the evidence. WARNING: This is the part of the story where your stomach will do flip-flops.

David Viens said he packed his wife’s 105-pound body into a heavy container and used weights to keep it submerged in the bubbling water.

Viens said he mixed what remained with other waste and poured it into the grease pit at his Lomita restaurant, Thyme Contemporary Cafe. Other remains were packed into garbage bags and chucked into a trash bin. All that remained was his wife’s skull, he told investigators.

“That’s the only thing I didn’t want to get rid of in case I wanted to leave it somewhere,” he said.

Garcia asked Viens where the skull was.

“In my mother’s attic,” he said.

Later that day, investigators scoured his mother’s attic in Torrance. They found nothing.

How do you go from wedded bliss to this gruesome nightmare? Somehow, life in prison doesn’t seem long enough for this cruel, evil man.

Former child star Dee Jay Daniels (real name Dorjan Lyndell Daniels) — who you might remember as little Michael Hughley on “The Hughleys” — was recently arrested in California for marijuana possession, premeditated murder and gang activity charges in connection with a fatal stabbing.

According to E! News, the 23-year-old is among three men who are accused of stabbing a 26-year-old man named John Joseph outside a nightclub in Stockton, California in August 2011.

Daniels — who in addition to the Hughleys (which aired on TV from 1998-2002), was also featured on “Cold Case,” “Coach,” “ER,” “The Wayans Bros,” “Family Matters” and more — is currently being held in San Joaquin County jail with no bail.

If convicted, he could face life in prison.

Lil Boosie is NOT GUILTY!

After six days of testimony from 27 witnesses and a nearly two-hour jury deliberation, Lil Boosie‘s murder trial finally concluded early Friday afternoon (May 11), and the Louisiana rapper was acquitted of ALL first-degree murder charges for the shooting death of a 35-year-old man named Terry Boyd.

Prosecutors argued that Boosie hired Michael “Marlo Mike” Louding to kill Boyd, who was shot to death through a window in 2009 while he was sitting inside his home.

One of the 27 witnesses called during the trial was Louding, who earlier had admitted his involvement in the murder to police, but he changed his story again in court this week, saying he had been pressured by detectives to give a confession.

During a pre-trial hearing held on April 24th, detective Alvin Howard confirmed Louding’s confession. Louding — who is accused of six different murders in Baton Rouge — told detectives that Lil Boosie gave him $2,800 to kill Terry Boyd.

The prosecution also tried to argue that the lyrics to some of Boosie’s songs proved his role in the murder, but obviously the jury didn’t buy it, and cleared the rapper of the murder charges.

If Boosie had been convicted of murder, he could have faced a possible life prison sentence.

“All I can do is give the glory to God because I knew he was never guilty,” said Connie Hatch, the rapper’s mother. “He’s crying and he knew from the beginning he was never guilty.”

“This man has been innocent,” said Boosie’s defense attorney Jason Williams. “He’s been innocent this whole time. Fans across the whole world have been praying for this. And, I thank God that justice was swift. I thank God that the truth came out.”

After the conclusion of the murder trial, the 29-year-old rapper was taken to the West Baton Rouge Parish Prison, where he has been held since the start of the trial.

Lil Boosie is currently serving an 8-year prison sentence for attempting to sneak drugs into two Louisiana State prisons … but that’s nothing compared to life in prison.

George Zimmerman — the most hated man in America right now — is behind bars at a Florida prison after being officially charged with 2nd degree murder for the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

Zimmerman was performing his duties as a “neighborhood watchman” on the night of Sunday, February 26th when he spotted Martin, who was making his way back to his father’s house after making a quick purchase at a nearby convenience store.

Zimmerman called 911, telling dispatchers that he thought the boy looked “suspicious,” citing recent break-ins in the area, which was an upscale, suburban gated community.

Even though dispatchers asked Zimmerman to not follow the young man, he did so anyway, and the two got into a scuffle, which resulted in Zimmerman pulling out a handgun and shooting Martin in the chest, killing him almost instantly.

George Zimmerman told police that Trayvon Martin — who was unarmed — had attacked him from behind as he was walking back to his truck, and he only shot him in self defense.

But a video taken about 40 minutes after the shooting as Zimmerman arrived at the Sanford, Florida police station after the shooting incident showed him walking unassisted without any difficulty.

There also weren’t any visible injuries or blood on Zimmerman’s clothing, which goes against his erroneous claims that Martin had attacked him.

After questioning, Zimmerman was quickly released, and wasn’t charged for his crime until more than 6 weeks later, on Wednesday, April 11th 2012.

As Trayvon Martin’s story gained popularity across the country, community activists and leaders hosted rallies all over the country, with demands that Zimmerman be brought to justice.

President Barack Obama even offered his opinion on the situation, saying at a White House press event nearly a month after the incident, “If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon.”

Zimmerman’s arrest was delayed in part because of Florida’s controversial “Stand Your Ground” law, which gives people legal permission to use deadly force in the face of danger, without even having to attempt a retreat. Florida is among 21 states with such a law.

Though Zimmerman’s arrest is a step toward the justice that Trayvon Martin’s parents say they are seeking for their son, they say they won’t stop fighting until Zimmerman is convicted.

George Zimmerman was arrested and charged with second degree murder on Wednesday (Apr 11).

He was booked at the Polk Correctional Facility in Sanford, Florida and is currently being held in protective custody without bail.

His first court appearance is scheduled for Thursday (Apr 12) in a secure courtroom inside the jail facility.

A Florida man was recently arrested and charged with murder after killing another man and eating parts of his body, including his eye and pieces of his brain!

Tyree Lincoln Smith (pictured above) was taken into custody after his cousin turned him over to authorities.

The body of Angel Gonzalez was found on the third floor of an abandoned building in the New England town, and a medical examiner ruled the cause of death as blunt force trauma.

The perp was turned over to the police by a cousin, who claims Smith turned up at her house on December 15 and said he wanted to “get blood on his hands,” before heading to the apartment building where he used to live.

The next day, he allegedly returned to his cousin’s with not only blood on his hands – but also his pants, while carrying an ax.

He said he had been sleeping on the porch when he was awoken by a Hispanic man, who he invited inside and then ferociously beat around the head and face, before plucking out one of his eyes, and removing brain matter and skull fragments.

According to the police report, the deranged killer took the victim’s body parts to a nearby cemetery where he ate them.

“At the cemetery he said he ate the eyeball, which tasted like an oyster, and the brain matter,” the affidavit stated.

The Greenville County (South Carolina) coroner says that a local man’s body was found near the front steps of a church early Monday morning (Dec 26), which just so happened to be the day after Christmas.

Coroner Mike Ellis said the body of Billy Joe Jamison, 50, was found near the front steps of the Long Branch Baptist Church on Bolt Street in Greenville.

Ellis said Jamison died from multiple blunt force injuries sometime between midnight and 2 a.m. Monday morning.

The manner of death is still pending after an autopsy and investigation, but the case is being treated as suspicious, according to Ellis. Greenville City Police is also investigating the death.

Church security officials said Greenville Police asked for their surveillance video, and family members said they’re working with investigators as they grieve.

“We just want to know what happened,” said Jamison’s brother, Chris Jamison. “It’s kind of early [in the investigation], but we’re just trying to stick together–sisters and brothers that love each other.”

Chris said Billy was his baby brother, the youngest of five. He said he was a handyman,who loved his kids.

Family said Jamison spent all Christmas Day with them before he was found dead overnight.

Police in Texas say a man dressed up as Santa Clause shot and killed six of his family members on Christmas Day before turning the gun on himself and committing suicide.

On Monday, Grapevine police spokesman Sgt. Robert Eberling said the shooter, a member of the family, showed up in the Santa outfit shortly before gunfire erupted.

Police went to the apartment during the day on Sunday after receiving a 911 call in which no one was on the other line. They found four women and three men, aged 18 to 60, dead. A motive for the shootings remains unclear.

“It appears they had just celebrated Christmas. They had opened their gifts,” Grapevine Police Sgt. Robert Eberling said Sunday, adding that the apartment was decorated for the holiday, including a tree.

Two handguns were found near the bodies and it appears all died of gunshot wounds, he said.

Grapevine Police Lt. Todd Dearing said investigators believe that the victims were related, although some were visiting and didn’t live in the apartment. He said police are looking for other relatives to inform of the deaths.

A man who was captured by video surveillance cameras as he attacked an elderly woman coming out of an elevator by setting her on fire and burning her alive told police the reason he did it…..was because she owed him $2,000 for some work he had done for her.

According to various news reports, 47-year-old handyman Jerome Isaac from Brooklyn meticulously planned his attack on poor old Ms. Deloris Gillespie, who was 73 years old, and allowed Isaac to live in her home.

Dressed like an exterminator, Isaac reportedly waited patiently in the building where they lived for Ms. Gillespie to return home from grocery shopping last week.

When the elevator doors opened, police say Isaac stepped in and began spraying Gillespie with gasoline before setting her on fire with a barbecue lighter, igniting what is famously known as a “Molotov cocktail.”

The brutal attack was apparently the result of Isaac being angry over an unpaid bill worth $2,000 after he had done some work for Ms. Gillespie around her home.

Delores Gillespie, 73, died after a man soaked her in gasoline and then set her on fire in an elevator in her Brooklyn, New York City apartment building.

Isaac had reportedly lived with Ms. Gillespie while he worked for her doing odd jobs around the house.

However, Ms. Gillespie fired Isaac after she caught him stealing, the woman’s 52-year-old nephew Rickey Causey said.

“He was doing more stealing than cleaning,” he told the New York Post, adding that before the attack, Isaac had left a note on his aunt’s door demanding payment for chores he had done, but the elderly woman refused to pay him because he was stealing from her.

That’s when Isaac apparently got pissed off and planned the vicious attack against the woman.

The horrifying attack lasted around one minute and was caught on two video surveillance cameras in the NYC apartment building.

Gillespie, who had just returned home from grocery shopping, had no idea what was coming for her when the elevator doors of her building opened and she saw Isaac, dressed up like an exterminator with a protective mask on top of his head and his hands protected with white gloves.

Right when the elevator doors opened up, Isaac sprayed Gillespie directly in the face and over her head and body as she turned away and crouched in the back of the elevator in a sadly futile attempt to protect herself.

Jerome Isaac burned his own face pretty badly after he set Delores Gillespie on fire and burned her alive.

Isaac then pulled out a barbecue lighter, and used it to ignite a rag in a bottle (a Molotov cocktail).

He waited a few seconds before using those flames to set the woman on fire and throwing the Molotov cocktail inside the elevator, which burst into flames as well.

The attacker quickly ran away, with the aid of the building’s stairwell, leaving the poor woman to die in the most horrific way possible. Gillespie was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Sad, I started really crying,” said Evelyn Diaz, Gillespie’s friend. “What this person did to her I said ‘What went through your mind when you did that to this poor lady’?”

“It’s really shocking and you recognized that’s the guy next door when they show me the pictures, even more crazy. I never thought something like that would happen,” Gillespie’s next door neighbor Eric Charles told reporters.

Isaac was charged with two counts of murder and one count of arson after police say he turned himself in with his clothes still smelling like gasoline.

A 16-year-old boy who become a viral video sensation after he received an on-camera beating from his uncle for gang-banging and bragging about it all over Facebook was found shot to death last week, just a few feet away from his home.

According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said Michael Taylor, 16, was found shot to death shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7 when deputies responded to a report of gunshots in the area. Taylor had been shot multiple times.

Sgt. Larry Dyess, JPSO spokesman, told the Times-Picayune that authorities had no suspect or motive in the incident.

Taylor’s mother, Kimberly Ward, told the newspaper that she kept strict tabs on her son, even making him stay on the sidewalk in eyesight of their home when he went outside. The night of the shooting, she said, Taylor received a text message from a friend at about 8 p.m. and went outside to chat.

“She said she called him back inside a few minutes later to find out what was going on, and he told her he was just talking and went back outside. A few minutes later, her daughter received a text message saying that Taylor had been shot, and then another saying he was dead,” the newspaper reported.

“Ward said she rushed from the house, driving around the neighborhood looking for her son, but didn’t find him until she was coming back to her apartment complex. That’s when she saw his body on the cold sidewalk, clad in the red sweatshirt she’d noticed when he left the house.

“I came home and saw my son on the ground,” Ward said.

In the YouTube video, posted in January, Taylor’s uncle ordered him to disavow any ties to gangs, announced that the family “don’t come from that sh–,” and then proceeded to take off his belt and spank Taylor in full view of the laptop camera.

Rappers Lil Wayne and Birdman spoofed the video, as did another video site called StuntKidzTV.

The original video sparked tons of reaction, from people who applauded the uncle’s actions, calling it an overdue return to old-school parenting and discipline, to those who speculated the public flogging might drive the teenager deeper into a gang’s circle because the youth had been humiliated.

“I am not surprised to hear that this young man’s life has ended violently. When I saw the video, I kept thinking that by beating this youth, the uncle was setting him up for some kind of tragedy, either prison or an early grave,” said Stacey Patton, who in April launched the web site SparetheKids.com to offer black parents alternatives to corporal punishment and the tools to help foster the healthy development of children.

“I don’t understand why more people don’t make the connection between how children are dealt with at home and the larger societal impact,” Patton said. “Studies show that maltreated youth make up a disproportionate number of youth involved in school and gang violence. Violent parental discipline increases the risk that a child will act violently later in life. The use of violent discipline teaches children that violence is an appropriate means of shaping behavior and solving problems. Physically disciplining a child has no positive impact for the child, that child’s relationship with the parents, or the larger community.”

Ward told the Times-Picayune that her son was mild-mannered, but had begun hanging out with tough guys, telling her that he did it for protection to avoid problems with other students.

She cited a couple of incidents that she said might have led someone to come after her son, but in each case, Ward maintained her son had been the victim of a misunderstanding or was targeted because of his connection to others who may have instigated a dispute.

She also said Taylor recently took a photo with a friend that was posted on Facebook, that the friend had been involved in an ongoing dispute with an Algiers group and that someone recently threatened Taylor when she took him to the mall recently.

Ward told the newspaper she believed her son’s friends, not his actions, led to his death. “He was guilty by association,” she said.

In addition to Michael Taylor’s mother and sister, the 16-year-old is survived by a brother, grandparents and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday (Dec 14), Black America Web reported.

This is really sad, especially considering the fact that his uncle tried to knock some sense into him and it ultimately did not work.

Tragedy has struck “Wally World” once again after a woman was murdered by her husband over the weekend at a Walmart in Greenville, South Carolina.

According to various local news reports, 47-year-old Avery L. Blandin is accused of fatally stabbing his 38-year-old wife Lilia Blandon, who worked at the Woodforest Bank located inside the Walmart store.

Deputies say they were called to the Walmart shortly after 1 pm Saturday afternoon where they found Mrs. Blandin bleeding to death. She was immediately transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Witnesses told officials that they overheard an argument between Lilia and a large man (later to be identified as her husband) that quickly escalated into a physical fight.

Avery L. Blandin, 47, is facing murder charges after he stabbed his wife to death at a Walmart in Greenville, South Carolina.

Customers who were shopping at the Walmart said that they could hear the woman screaming throughout the store. At the bottom of a news story on WY4FF.com in the comments, one person, who witnessed the brutal stabbing with their own two eyes, stated:

I was at the atm machine and I saw it all. That was horriblle. The lady was begging him to please stop and after about three screams she didn’t say nothing else. Please pray for Mrs. Lillian and her three young daughters she left behind.

Another commenter wrote:

This was a horrible scene to see, I can’t get her screams out of my head. I don’t understand why they did not close the store. There were lots of people who pushed thier cart a side and left, but others remained and the lines were long for the employees who saw this and were crying and having to wait on customers.

Other customers were also appalled that Walmart continued to stay open for business, despite the fact that the store had turned into a murder scene.

“I saw there was blood everywhere, on the ground, on the table, on the wall,” said Brittany King, who arrived at the store shortly after the stabbing. “It’s disrespectful to the family that it happened to. Especially the people and the employees who saw it happen.”

Police tape surrounds the area around the Woodforest Bank inside the Walmart where the fatal stabbing occurred.

“From what I can see, they never really gave (the employees) that opportunity to recuperate,” said Bob Quarles, who had walked into the store just as the attack happened.

In Walmart’s defense, company spokesman Dianna Gee told Greenville’s News Channel 4, “We did, as requested, close our grocery checkout area to allow the police to do their work and provide some level of privacy, given the circumstances.”

“This was a senseless act of violence, and our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s family during this difficult time,” Gee said, adding that Walmart was assisting with the investigation and had turned over surveillance video footage from the store.

Immediately fter the stabbing, Mr. Avery Blandin fled the scene and was located nearby after getting involved in a traffic incident.

Deputies said Mr. Blandin was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital to receive treatment for his injuries and will later be taken to the Greenville County Detention Center on murder charges to await a bond hearing scheduled for Monday (Dec 12).

Walmart, which is considered to be a “family store,” has been in the news a lot recently, and not in a good way either.

Just last week, a woman was arrested after Walmart security caught her mixing up chemicals to make meth. When asked why she was making meth inside the store, the woman said that she couldn’t afford to buy the chemicals and take them home.

A South Carolina woman was recently arrested for killing a family friend, burying her underneath Christmas presents at her house, then stealing money from her bank accounts.

A woman is facing murder charges after the body of a 67-year-old family friend was found hidden beneath Christmas presents in her Jacksonville home.

Patty Michelle White, 37, was arrested in South Carolina on murder charges in the death of Michele O’Dowd, according to the Florida Times-Union.

O’Dowd’s body was found Friday by her twin brother, buried under a pile of gifts for her nephews, nieces and grandchildren, with her bloody face covered with a towel.

“How can you be so sick,” brother Phil Axt said, “to bury the victim with children’s gifts?”

Authorities said White had been living in South Carolina for the past few months but returned to Jacksonville to rob O’Dowd. Axt said the family had known White for around five years, and that she had dated his nephew.

White allegedly did odd jobs for the family, including running errands, and had access to O’Dowd’s credit and debit cards.

Police said O’Dowd’s debit card was stolen and used to with draw $1,000 at two separate ATMs, and that White was identified from surveillance photos from the ATMs.

Authorities didn’t say whether White had been extradited to Jacksonville to face the murder charges.

Police shot and killed a woman who they said was stabbing her 4-year-old daughter Monday (Nov 28) in a northwest Atlanta neighborhood.

40-year-old Carulus Hines was shot after she refused to put down a knife she used to stab her daughter, the AJC reported. The little girl, Nalecia Hines, also died at the scene. It was later confirmed by the Fulton County coroner’s office that the toddler, who reportedly had down syndrome, died from the multiple stab wounds and was not shot.

Police were reportedly called to Hines’ home after her 8-year-old son and adult brother went to a neighbor’s home begging for help.

Joe Daniel (the neighbor) said that the boy and his uncle, who lived in the home with the family, asked him if they could use his phone, which is when they explained what happened. They told Daniel that the boy’s mother had locked them out of the house and “she was acting up.”

The boy also told Daniel that his mother had and threw him out of a window. Fortunately, he only suffered a few minor injuries in the incident.

When police arrived on the scene, they learned that Hines had locked herself in the house with another young child (the boy’s baby sister), so they broke down the door and found her seated in a chair stabbing the child, according to police spokesman Carlos Campos.

After Hines, who police described as a large woman who was over 6 feet tall and weighed over 300 pounds, refused to drop the weapon as ordered, officers fired off several shots (around 10 to 16) at the woman killing her instantly.

They also told the man that Ms. Hines had claimed to be God, and said that she could kill the boy and bring him back to life.

Hines’ mental problems were no secret amongst the people that lived around her either, the AJC reported.

Neighbors said she would speak of being possessed by demons and would sometimes call out Jesus’ name and speak in tongues in her backyard.

“I knew she had some mental issues, I just didn’t know this was the extent,” her landlady Miyoshi Hill told the AJC.

Ms. Miyoshi, who was in tears after the incident, said that she had been letting the family live in the house rent free.

“Yeah, because of her kids, I just couldn’t put her out,” she said. “Her daughter was a disabled child. She has Down Syndrome. Things were just really hard for her, I guess.”

A few weeks ago when Hill told Hines she couldn’t let her continue to stay rent-free, she says Hines became angry and aggressive.

Another woman said that she had seen Hines slap the kids numerous times, and even threatened their lives.

“She said that if they think they can take my kids, I will kill them first,” Tyisha Jackson said, adding that when she asked Hines about her kids recently, she took offense and shouted at her, “I’m tired of people asking about my kids!”

“She had a lot of problems with her kids,” Jackson continued. “She couldn’t feed them or cloth them. The kids always looked raggedy.”

Neighbors also said Hines was having some serious financial problems, and would regularly go next door to another neighbor’s home to get fresh drinking water, wash clothes and even cook. She was also six months behind on her rent, which was $600 a month.

“I think she just snapped,” neighbor Charles Harris told 11 Alive News.”‘Cause she was by my house [Sunday] around 9:30 saying nine demons came out of her. Nine demons. [She said] that she had been possessed.”

Another neighbor said he saw the woman randomly walking up and down the street one day with her eyes closed. She said her dead father told her to do it.

The landlady Miyoshi Hill said she grieves for the children. She said every time she visited, Nalecia would run up and hug her. “She was very smart even though she was a Down Syndrome child. She was very loving,” she said.

Hill said the woman’s son had been taught to feel responsible for his little sister. “Her brother really loved her [the little girl]. His mother told him to always look out for his little sister.”

Hill said after the deaths, the boy told his uncle he had failed at his job.

“I wish I could have done something,” she said, remorsefully. “She shouldn’t have been in the house anyway. I let her stay too long. I hurt for her child, her son, right now.”

A trainer for the Harlem Globetrotters was found dead by his girlfriend after being killed by a man he met in the dating section of Craigslist.

Thomas Bashline, 42, who worked for the Harlem Globetrotters, was found dead by his girlfriend in Frederick, Colorado, two weeks ago.

Initially police believed he may have been killed over drugs tests that he carries out on athletes across the U.S.

However, that is not the case and sources within the Weld County police department now say Bashline met the suspect on the man-for-man personals section on the website.

Officers believe that he had driven 15 miles to Longmont where he picked the man up before taking him back to his home.

There it is believed the suspect shot Bashline in the head before stealing his Chevy S-10 truck which was found in 22 miles away in Boulder, Col.

Officers also said that the man they have in custody is answering questions on an unrelated charge but evidence they found inside the stolen vehicle had linked him to the crime.

His brother, Richard, has refused to speak about the latest turn of events, but soon after Thomas Bashline was killed he told Fox 31 Denver: ‘It’s not natural, it wasn’t suicide. It was murder.’

Bashline had been a high school trainer for 10 years before being hired by the blue team of the Globetrotters three years ago, according to the Denver Post.

Jeff Munn, executive vice president of the club, said: ‘We have just learned of the tragic loss of one of our trainers, Thomas Bashline.

‘Our condolences go out to Tom’s family and friends. The entire Harlem Globetrotters organisation is deeply saddened by this news.’

Bashline was also a businessman, operating a company that administered drugs tests across the U.S. for baseball, basketball and football players.

On the morning that Bashline was killed he was due to go to family friend Myrna Lloyd’s house to work on her computer.

He called her and said he would be there in the afternoon instead.

She said: ‘I’m totally flabbergasted. I can’t fathom it. He was a very good man.’

A man became so enraged over a missing bag of Halloween candy that he plunged a knife into a woman multiples times, according to police.

He was arrested in the Halloween night stabbing, and charges are expected to be upgraded after she died Saturday night.

Maria Adams, 49, was stabbed multiple times at 7150 S. Winchester Ave. on Halloween, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. She died Saturday night at Stroger Hospital.

Her acquaintance, Ledell Peoples, 55, of the Winchester address, was arrested shortly after the stabbing on Halloween. He’s accused of attacking Adams, and was charged with attempted murder and aggravated domestic battery, according to police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.

The fight stemmed from a missing bag of candy. At some point during brawl, a plate was thrown and Peoples suffered a cut over his eye, said the officer.  The fight continued to escalate until Peoples stabbed Adams, police said.

He was booked into Cook County Jail Thursday, where a judge ordered him held on $2 million bond, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s office.

An autopsy is expected later Sunday, and charges are expected to be upgraded.

A 40-year-old man from Greenwood, South Carolina is now being charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime after he shot and killed the mother of his 2-month-old daughter following an argument in the car … all while the their little girl was in the backseat of the vehicle!

According to the arrest warrant, Keith Neal was traveling with Kaybreisha “Kay” Timpson, 20, in his car along with their daughter, Nariyaz Keytasia Neal, Monday.

The warrant said the two got into a verbal argument and Keith Neal retrieved a gun out of the glove compartment, and fired one round that struck Timpson in the left hand, forearm and chest area.

Neal shot Timpson again, striking her in the lower back, as she exited the car, according to the warrant. She collapsed on the side of Merrywood Road.

Neal fled the area with the baby. An amber alert was issued for the girl. She was later found when her father turned himself in, according to authorities.

Timpson died shortly after exiting the vehicle from the gunshot wounds, according to the warrant. Timpson’s family told FOX Carolina that Neal was taken by her father Keith Neal. They said Timpson and Keith Neal were no longer together and on Sunday he was staking out Timpson’s house.

Investigators said Keith Neal called dispatchers after hearing about the Amber Alert and said he wanted to turn himself in to authorities. They said Neal waited at a market in Hodges for deputies to arrive.

“When the Amber Alert hit the airwaves, the guy got nervous and made some phone calls and decided the best thing is to turn himself in,” said John Murray, of the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office. “The Amber Alert really helped us to capture him.”

Timpson’s family said she was a great mom and she only had the one daughter.

Timpson’s father told FOX Carolina that Neal was a quiet man that had never been violent towards his daughter before.

A gunman who allegedly killed his wife and shot two pastors in a church on Sunday killed his previous wife 25 years ago, court records have revealed.

Jeremiah Fogle, 57, was tackled by people attending a prayer service in Lakeland, Florida yesterday, who took his .32-calibre revolver and held him down. Pastor William Boss was shot in the head as he prayed. Associate pastor Carl Stewart was shot in the shoulder, head and back, authorities said.

Fogle and his wife Theresa Brown Fogle, 56, married in 2002 and once attended Greater Faith Christian Center Church as members. But they had not been for several years and had started their own ministry out of their house, regularly hosting their own Sunday services.

Today it has been revealed he pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of his wife, Diane, but was only sentenced to 10 years’ probation in 1987. He allegedly answered the door with a rifle and showed a police officer her body in 1986. Prosecutors reduced the charge from first-degree murder. He handled the rifle in a ‘negligent, careless and reckless manner,’ authorities said at the time. It’s not known why the charge was lessened.

On Sunday, Mrs Fogle’s husband had allegedly walked to the church from their home nearby. She was later found dead in the living room by officials.

He entered through the front door of Greater Faith Christian Center Church, walked down the centre aisle and shot the men, police said. Fogle was then allegedly restrained by other parishioners until authorities arrived. No other church members were injured. He had six live rounds in his pocket and was prepared to shoot even more before he was tackled by ‘heroes’, Sheriff Grady Judd said.

We don’t know exactly why he went in to this mad rage,’ he added. ‘He was focused on killing his wife and certainly meant to kill the pastor and assistant pastor,’ he told the Orlando Sentinel. The pastor and associate pastor were in a critical but stable condition and were being treated for their injuries at a local hospital.

Authorities took Fogle into custody on charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder. They were investigating to determine his motive. During a hearing on Monday, Fogle was charged with murder and attempted murder after the shootings. He was ordered to be held without bond.

The couple ran a transportation firm and his wife had nursed him back to health after he had back surgery, Mrs Fogle’s sister Maria Beauford said. ‘We have no idea what his motive was,’ Ms Beauford said. ‘We just have no idea.’

Fogle was known as a community man and could often be seen in his home’s front garden with his wife.

Jeremiah Fogle’s older brother, Collis Fogle Jr, added: ‘It’s so sad. I’ve been trying to call to figure out what went wrong.’ Authorities said Fogle ran through the church doors after a morning service had wrapped up and just before another daily service.

The red-brick building also serves as a school and sits across from a mobile home park. Several police cars and tape blocked off the church. Fogle had a white bandage around his head on Sunday night and was led to a patrol car, refusing to speak with television reporters. ‘Of all the places you should be safe, you should be safe in a house of worship,’ Sheriff Judd said. ‘Especially on a Sunday morning.’ Fogle is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Monday.

A 18 year-old Scottish man is now facing murder charges for stabbing his 22-year-old girlfriend 30 times after they had an argument about him not wanting to make garlic bread.

A TEENAGER in Scotland admitted today to stabbing his girlfriend to death because she had been “moaning at him” over his failure to make garlic bread for their dinner.

James Ellis, 18, stabbed Alami Gotip more than 30 times on May 25 as the woman’s two young children, to a different father, lay asleep upstairs.

The body of 22-year-old Gotip was later found in the living room of the home in Livingston, West Lothian, Sky News said.

Immediately after the murder, Ellis was seen standing in the front garden covered in blood and holding two knives.

He told police he thought his relationship with Ms Gotip was finishing and he could not imagine her with anyone else.

Detective Inspector Phil Gachagan, of Lothian and Border Police, said, “The brutal violence Alami Gotip was subjected to prior to her death is testament to the violent and remorseless character of James Ellis.”

Ellis, who pleaded guilty to murder at the High Court in Edinburgh, is due to be sentenced on October 5.

A Florida A&M women’s basketball player was stabbed in the neck and killed over the weekend by her girlfriend.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Sept. 5 (UPI) — A 20-year-old woman was being held on a first-degree murder charge in the stabbing death of a member of the Florida A&M women’s basketball team, police said.

Tallahassee police said they arrested Starquineshia Palmer in the slaying of Shannon Washington, who was stabbed with a kitchen knife in the neck and back early Sunday during an argument, the Tallahassee Democrat reported.

Police said Palmer apparently had been in a relationship with Washington, 20, and had been visiting Washington at her apartment.

Friends, family, teammates and other students gathered for a vigil for Washington Sunday at the Florida A&M campus.

“Our hearts and prayers go out to Shannon’s family and members of the Lady Rattlers basketball team,” university President James H. Ammons said. “For Shannon to be killed in the prime of her life is tragic and senseless…. This is a great loss for the university and our athletic program.”

Washington, a Sarasota native, transferred to Florida A&M after earning All-American honors in her two seasons at Illinois Valley Community College, where she averaged 19 points a game last season, and was expected to play shooting guard this year.

“As a coach, this is the kind of incident you just hope you never have to deal with — the death of one of your players at such a young age,” women’s basketball Coach LeDawn Gibson said.

This is so sad in a million ways….

Isaac Turnbaugh of Vermont was acquitted of killing his co-worker in 2004, and he recently called police and confessed to the murder. But guess what? There is absolutely NOTHING they can do it about it.

You see, Turnbaugh is protected under a procedural defense known as “double jeopardy,” which means that a defendant cannot be tried again on the same, or similar charges following an acquittal or conviction.

So in other words … Isaac Turnbaugh can’t be tried again for his friend’s, despite his blatant admission to the crime.

“He could have turned over a video tape of him committing the murder and it wouldn’t change the fact that double jeopardy is attached,” Vermont Attorney General William Sorrell told The Huffington Post. “We had our chance. The jury acquitted him and, just in the same way OJ could confess today to his wife’s murder, it wouldn’t affect what could be done to him.”

Turnbaugh, now 28, stood trial in 2004 on a charge of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Declan Lyons, 24. The two men were coworkers at the restaurant American Flatbread in Waitsfield, a town located about 20 miles southwest of Montpelier, Vt.

Lyons, engaged and expecting his first child, was found dead outside the restaurant on April 12, 2002. He had been mixing sauce in an outdoor cauldron when witnesses inside the restaurant heard a loud popping noise. WPTZ reported that, when the waitresses went outside to investigate, they found an unresponsive Lyons on the ground with a gaping head wound.

Police had no suspects in the case until the following month, when Turnbaugh went to a party and allegedly told six friends that he had shot Lyons. One of the friends told Turnbaugh’s mother and she reportedly contacted the police.

“The whole reason he was charged was because he was sitting around the campfire with friends taking mushrooms and, amidst some sort of schizophrenic break, he confessed to this shooting, to being responsible for [the terrorist attacks of] 9/11 and an assortment of other things,” Turnbaugh’s former attorney, Kurt Hughes, told HuffPost.

uring police questioning, Turnbaugh denied killing Declan Lyons and said he considered him a “really good buddy.”

Friends also described Turnbaugh and Lyons as good friends, which made it difficult to establish a motive.

“All of us can’t fathom why this would have happened,” former co-worker Jen Moffroid told WPTZ in August 2002.

“Not a lot of bad vibes. Not a lot of animosity . . . You don’t know what to believe and we’re just trusting in the system and hoping that the police and courts can figure out what really happened here. We all would really like to know what really happened.”

Hughes said the case was extraordinary, in that he had easy access to Lyons’ coworkers and friends — a rare convenience for a suspect’s defense.

“They all loved Isaac as much as they loved the victim. It was unlike anything I had been involved in before,” he said.

Following his arrest, Turnbaugh was diagnosed with a serious mental illness. The case did not go to court for roughly two years. When it did, Turnbaugh’s lawyer argued that his client was ill and said that the FBI was unable to establish that a rifle belonging to his client was the murder weapon.

According to WCAX, prosecutors never denied that they did not have a motive for the crime, but were hoping that lies Turnbaugh had told police — as well as his confession at the party — would help them to prove premeditated murder.

On April 6, 2004, after five hours of deliberation, jurors found Turnbaugh not guilty of murder.

Sorrell said that he was surprised by the verdict.

“We had these admissions from him, but he had a very good lawyer who was able to raise reasonable doubt that if you couldn’t believe that he was involved with 9/11, then you couldn’t believe that he was involved in this murder,” the Vermont attorney general said. “The jury did its job. We gave it our best shot. Our justice system isn’t always perfect, but it is darn good.”

In the month after he was found innocent, Turnbaugh found himself in hot water with police following a 7-hour standoff in which he was involved. Other than that, he has kept a relatively low profile. That is, until he contacted police in Montpelier recently and allegedly confessed to killing Declan Lyons. There is, however, nothing police can do about it.

According to Anne Bremner, a Seattle attorney and legal analyst, the double jeopardy clause forbids authorities from trying Turnbaugh again for murder in this case.

“The framers of the Constitution wanted to preclude government harassment of citizens via successive and potentially harassing prosecutions,” Bremner explained to HuffPost.

“Let’s take Casey Anthony’s case,” Bremner continued. “Even if she confesses to Barbara Walters, Oprah, or Larry Flynt, for that matter, double jeopardy would preclude charging or prosecuting her again.”

Once again, attorneys on both sides are in disagreement about the alleged confession.

“He’s mentally ill. He made similar so-called confessions before the trial, so it’s nothing new. It’s part of his illness [and] it sounds like he’s having a relapse of some sort,” Hughes said.

Sorrell, on the other hand, believes Turnbaugh’s alleged confession.

“He gave some details this time that were consistent with evidence in the case,” Sorrell said. “Clearly, the victim had a head wound, but the police were never able to find any bullet or bullet fragments enough to do any ballistics, so we did not have evidence of any particular caliber or any particular gun. We believed it was a high-powered rifle, and we knew that Isaac Turnbaugh owned a 30-30 rifle. So, this time, he did say he shot him in the head with the 30-30.”

There have been speculation and rumors that authorities could go after Turnbaugh on other potential charges such as perjury, but Sorrell said the defendant did not testify on his own behalf, so perjury is out of the question. Besides that, the statute of limitations is up and “that’s not what we’re looking to do here,” he said.

A civil suit is also unlikely, the attorney general said.

“Quite frankly, I’m not sure that the victim’s family would be looking for monetary reward,” Sorrell said. “[Secondly], even if they got a verdict for a hundred million dollars, I’m not sure they would be in a position to collect a dime from Isaac Turnbaugh.”

Police have not talked to Turnbaugh since his alleged confession. He did not respond to an interview request from The Huffington Post.

According to Sorrell, authorities still believe Turnbaugh is the killer, and do not plan to re-open the case.

“It’s just a terrible tragedy,” he said. “But, he has to live with what, in fact, he has done.”

Are we the only ones who feel like this whole “double jeopardy” thing is messed up? This Isaac Turnbaugh character is obviously mentally ill though, and he needs some serious help pronto.

What started out as a celebration ended in tragedy after a father opened fire at a roller skating rink Texas during a birthday party for one of his children, killing his estranged wife and four of her family members before killing himself.

Tan Do, 35, and Trini Do, 29, were hosting the party at the Roller World Skating Rink in the Dallas suburb of Grand Prairie, Texas, on Saturday for one of their two children, Grand Prairie police said in a statement.
“The couple had been involved in ongoing marital problems and it is believed that this led to the shooting,” police said. “Trini Do was among the deceased.”

Police responded to a call of a shooting at 7:10 p.m. Saturday (8:10 p.m. ET). Officers found the bodies of five people; a sixth person — the suspect — with a gunshot wound to the head; and four other people who had sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Others who were killed included Trini Do’s sisters, Lynn Ta, 16, and Michelle Ta, 28; her brother, Hien Ta, 21; and her sister-in-law, Thuy Nguyen, 25. “It appears the suspect targeted his estranged wife and her family members,” police said.

The couple’s two children were not harmed, and were in the care of other family members Sunday, authorities said.

Tan Do was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to police.

About 30 people were attending the party at the time of the shooting, but the roller rink was not open to the public, police said. Employees of the rink were not injured. Witnesses were interviewed by police, and the police department’s crisis counselors and chaplain were working with the survivors, authorities said.

A texas man who was sentenced to death for killing a man from India in a “revenge” shooting spree following the September 11th 2011 terrorist attacks was executed Wednesday night (Jul 20).

Mark Anthony Stroman was put to death at 9:53 p.m. ET, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice said.

The U.S. Supreme Court denied a stay of execution for Stroman last month, and his supporters — including a survivor of one of the shootings attributed to him — urged Gov. Rick Perry and the state Board of Pardons and Parole to grant clemency. The state Criminal Appeals Court denied his last appeal on Wednesday.

Stroman, 41, made national headlines after he fatally shot Vasudev Patel during a shooting rampage after the 9/11 attacks. An admitted white supremacist, Stroman targeted those he believed were Middle Eastern, in revenge for the attacks.

A Pakistani man, Waqar Hasan, was also murdered, and a Bangladeshi man, Rais Bhuiyan, was seriously wounded.

“I cannot tell you that I am an innocent man. I am not asking you to feel sorry for me, and I won’t hide the truth,” Stroman told CNN in a recent interview.

“I am a human being and made a terrible mistake out of love, grief and anger, and believe me, I am paying for it every single minute of the day.”

Prosecutors say that just days after the attacks on New York, Washington and Pennsylvania a decade ago, Stroman began carefully plotting revenge. At the time, he was free on bail for previous crimes.

On September 15, 2001, Stroman shot Hasan in the head while the man was grilling hamburgers in his convenience store. The 46-year-old Pakistani native had moved to the Dallas area that year to start a new life with his family.

Six days later, Stroman shot Bhuiyan in the face while he manned the counter at a gas station. Bhuiyan survived, but was left blind in one eye.

Then, on October 4, Stroman attempted to rob the Mesquite, Texas, gas station operated by Patel. Surveillance tapes showed the suspect waving a .44-caliber chrome-plated pistol at the clerk and demanding, “Open the register or I’ll kill you.” The 49-year-old Patel, a Hindu, tried to reach for his gun hidden under the counter, but Stroman shot the man in the chest. He left without taking any cash and was arrested the next day.

It was for that crime that Stroman was prosecuted, convicted and sentenced to death. During the sentencing phase, he made an obscene hand gesture to Hasan’s relatives.

Stroman claimed his sister was on a top floor of the World Trade Center’s North Tower when it and the adjacent South Tower collapsed after airliners were deliberately crashed into the buildings. But that claim was never substantiated during his murder trial and was not raised by his appellate attorney.

In a recent posting on his prison blog, Stroman says the 9/11 attacks sparked something inside him.

“Let’s just say that I could not think clearly anymore and I am sorry to say I made innocent people pay for my rage, anger, grief and loss,” he wrote.

Citing his own statements to fellow inmates, a federal appeals court, in denying his claims, concluded that Stroman believed that the U.S. government “hadn’t done their job, so he was going to do it for them” by retaliating.

The man told his lawyers he once belonged to the Aryan Brotherhood, a white supremacist prison gang, and has a long criminal history of burglary, armed robbery and theft.

Of the 19 9/11 hijackers, 15 were from Saudi Arabia, two were from the United Arab Emirates, one was Lebanese and one was Egyptian, according to federal authorities.

Although he testified against his attacker, Bhuiyan has campaigned against Stroman’s execution. A devout Muslim who came to the United States to pursue his education, Bhuiyan was working an extra job a decade ago and was about to be married.

He said a large “angry” man wearing a bandanna, sunglasses and a baseball cap approached him in the store and asked, “Where are you from?” Confused, Bhuiyan asked, “Excuse me?” Immediately afterward, he remembered being shot, “the sensation of a million bees stinging my face, and then heard an explosion.”

But Bhuiyan has created a website, worldwithouthate.org, to urge Texas to spare Stroman’s life. He also filed a “friend of the court” brief last week in the 5th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, supporting Stroman’s requested stay of execution.

“I — and here I act as a spokesperson for the other victims’ families as well — have been denied our proper voice in the proceedings,” Bhuiyan said in the court documents. “We do not wish to see Mark Stroman executed for his crimes. For myself, it is clear that nothing would cause more devastation and pain to the life I struggled to rebuild after the attack than for Mark Stroman to be killed.”

A handyman who killed a Mississippi priest and stole his car was caught by police on his way to take his family to Disney World. (Smart idea bud!)

A Mississippi handyman killed a priest and was caught in Florida while taking his family to Disney World, authorities say.

Jeremy Manieri, 31, of Waveland, Miss., was arrested Tuesday morning at a motel in Davenport, Fla., without resistance and confessed to killing the Rev. Edward Everitt, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd told WTVM-TV in Tampa.

He had his ex-wife and two children, ages 10 and 5, with him, but they were unaware of the crime, Judd said.

Manieri was easily found because he stole Everitt’s car, which has a tracking device, authorities said.

Everitt, 70, was pastor at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Hammond, La., and was staying at a Waveland beach house used by priests, local police told WLOX-TV in Biloxi, Miss.

Police said Manieri worked odd jobs at the Dominican retreat.

Chief Jimmy Varnell said robbery was the likely motive, and Manieri probably will be charged with capital murder.

Varnell said Manieri has an “extensive criminal history in Georgia, Alabama, Florida,” is a registered sex offender for molesting a child family member and is wanted in Florida for car theft.

The suspect was in the Polk County jail Wednesday awaiting extradition.

This definitely has to be one of the sickest and most disgusting things we have heard in a LONG time! A California woman was arrested Tuesday because police believe she used a microwave to burn her infant baby to death.

Ka Yang, a 29-year-old Sacramento native, originally claimed her 6-week-old daughter’s March 17th death was caused by a seizure. However, after an autopsy was performed on Mirabelle Thao-Lo‘s body, the coroner determined that she had died from severe burns.

Following a 3-month investigation, which included consulting with forensic specialists and medical professionals, the police concluded that the young child may have died as a result of being burned in a microwave oven.

Police described the child as suffering “extensive thermal injuries.” Officer Laura Peck said the arrest took so long because investigators had to pinpoint what they believe is the cause of death by looking for other cases involving similar injuries.

They found three in the U.S., all after children were burned in a microwave: in Dayton, Ohio; Galveston, Texas; and New Kent County, Virginia. “This is rare. The injuries were obviously very unique,” Peck said. “There have been only three other documented cases in the entire country where the injuries were consistent with this case. … Those children were also burned and placed in the microwave.”

Yang was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on Tuesday and charged with one count of homicide. Peck said police do not know a motive. She did not believe Yang had an attorney, and none was listed in jail records. “We wouldn’t assess her mental condition. That will be up to the court system,” Peck said. “The bottom line is no one knows what happened in that house but her and the little baby.”

Yang has three other children, all under age 7, who were removed from the home the day their sister was found dead. They are now living with relatives.

That sick bitch! Someone needs to shove her a** in a microwave so she can know what it feels like. Make the punishment fit the crime.

A Philadelphia woman and man are both in prison right now after authorities caught the woman attempting to hire a “hit man” for $1,000 through Facebook to kill her “baby father.” According to authorities, London Eley posted the following message on her Facebook wall:

“I will pay somebody a stack to kill my baby father.”

Timothy Bynum saw the message in his Facebook news feed and took up the offer with the following responses:

“say no more,” “what he look like?” “where he be at,” “need dat stack 1st” and “ima mop that bull”

The intended target, who is not being identified for safety reasons, says he heard about the messages shortly after they were posted and contacted police, who then quickly moved in and arrested Bynum at his home on the spot.

“Clearly, if he would have received the money, he would have carried this out,” Philadelphia Police Lt. John Walker said. “Inside his home was a 22 caliber gun, fully loaded which had an obliterated serial number.”

Bynum is now facing attempted murder and conspiracy charges, while Eley has been charged with solicitation to commit murder. Both of them are facing a long time behind bars … all because of some silly comments on Facebook, SMH.

Folks, if you’re going to hire a hit man on the Internet, Facebook is definitely not the way to go. Craigslist is much more anonymous!

A police officer allegedly shot dead his troubled son after the 17-year-old attacked him with a hunting knife.

Lieutenant Eric Schmitz was being treated for his injuries in hospital last night after allegedly killing the teenager on the front lawn of their home in Towamencin Township, Pennsylvania.

Prosecutors say his son, Stephen Schmitz, had only been released from a psychiatric clinic the day before.

He had been admitted for treatment two weeks before, when he threatened to kill himself.

According to police, Lieutenant Schmitz shot his son in self-defense after Stephen ran at him with a five-inch hunting knife at around 3pm on Wednesday.

Video footage taken soon after the incident shows officers speaking to the lieutenant, who looks visibly shaken, on the front porch of his home.

Neighbours in the quiet, upscale district said they were stunned by the shooting.

Lieutenant Schmitz, who works for the Hatfield Township police department, was later taken to hospital for treatment where officials said he was being questioned.

They also revealed police had been called to the the house twice before, first in April, when Stephen, a junior at North Penn High School, became ‘enraged’ and threatened to harm himself.

In a press release, Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman said tensions seemed to have eased in the family, but then police were called again on May 29 after Stephen threatened to kill himself.

He was involuntarily committed to the nearby Horsham Clinic for two weeks, and was released on Tuesday, the day before he died.

By this morning, a memorial page set up for the popular 17-year-old on Facebook had attracted more than 1,800 members.

Stephen was described as an ‘actor and director’, and friends also paid tribute to his lacrosse skills.

Dozens more wrote messages on his brother Drew’s Facebook page, describing Stephen as ‘the sweetest kid’.

Another wrote: ‘You were the most kind and caring guy. I’m thankful for being able to know you.

‘You have no idea how many people you impacted. Honestly no one could ever have anything bad to say about you.’

Lieutenant Schmitz, who worked as Hatfield Police Department’s ‘right to know’ officer,  was praised as a ‘wonderful police officer’ last night.

Tom Zipfel, president of the township’s Board of Commissioners, told the Philadelphia Inquirer: ‘He has served us fantastically for many years… You couldn’t find a more decent man or a more decent police officer.’

Ms Ferman said detectives are still investigating, and are looking to speak to anyone with information about Stephen’s behaviour before his death, ‘including threats made towards family members or others’.

A 12-year-old boy could face life in prison for killing his 2-year-old brother.

(CBS/WTEV) JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Florida State Attorney’s Office is charging 12-year-old Cristian Fernandez as an adult with first-degree murder in the death of his 2-year-old brother David Galarrigo.

“The brutal beating death of a 2-year-old is one of the factors that we must consider,” said Assistant State Attorney Mark Caliel, about the decision to charge Fernandez as an adult, reports CBS affiliate WTEV.

Prosecutors say Fernandez acted with premeditation when he beat the toddler inside the family home on March 14.

Galarriago died from his injuries two days after the beating. He suffered from a fractured skull, a bleeding brain and bruising to his left eye, reports The Florida Times-Union.

Quin Jones, the family’s neighbor remembers when police swarmed the apartment unit where the family lived in March.

“Pictures in the house were knocked down and furniture was moved,” says Jones, who says he was able to see inside the unit when police arrived, reports the station.

Fernandez’s mother Biannela Susana has been charged with aggravated manslaughter by culpable negligence and is scheduled to go to trial in September. Police say she initially told investigators that Galarriago was hurt in a fall at the family’s Southside apartment, reports The Florida Times-Union.

If Fernadez is convicted of first-degree murder, he could be sentenced to life without parole.

A would-be teen beauty queen was stoned to death after her participation in a Ukranian pageant reportedly infuriated local Muslim youths.

Katya Koren, 19, was targeted by three fellow teens who said her seventh-place finish in the beauty contest was a violation of Muslim laws, according to British newspaper reports.

One of the suspects, identified as 16-year-old Bihal Gaziev, told authorities that he had no regrets about the stoning because the dark-haired Koren “violated the laws of Sharia.”

The teen’s battered body was found buried in the forest near her village in the Crimea section of the Ukraine. She had disappeared a week earlier.

Koren, described by friends as a stylish dresser, finished seventh in the beauty pageant. The British newspapers said the girl, just like her attackers, was a Muslim.

Justice has finally been served for three slain college students.

A Newark gangmember who hacked at three college-bound students with a machete before his cohort shot them execution-style was sentenced Thursday to 212 years in prison.

Alexander Alfaro, 20, was convicted last month of the robbery murders of Terrance Aeriel, Dashon Harvey and Iofemi Hightower in a schoolyard in August 2007.

During the sentencing, the judge focused on testimony about Alfaro slashing so violently at one victim that the machete became embedded in her skull.

“The machete-wielding Alexander Alfaro hacked her head and hacked her body. . . The force he used to hack her skull with the machete was such that the blade was embedded in her skull and he had to pry the blade out. That’s the evidence. That’s the evidence of what he did. That’s how Alfaro sent her to the after-life,” state Superior Court Judge Michael Ravin said, according to the Newark Star-Ledger.

Alfaro, who was 16 at the time of the murders, is the third person to receive consecutive life sentences in the case. He must serve 180 years before he is eligible for parole.

The lone survivor of the chilling attacks, Natasha Aeriel, provided emotional and disturbing testimony throughout the trial.

The victims – all students at or heading to Delaware State University – were held at gunpoint and forced to kneel against the wall before being shot. Aeriel graduated Delaware State last year.

Two deaf men were stabbed at a bar Saturday night after a woman mistook their sign language for gang signs. (GTFOH!!!!)

Two hearing impaired men were stabbed in a Hallandale Beach bar Saturday night when another patron mistook their sign language for gang signs.

31-year-old Alfred Stewart, who is deaf and mute, and three others including a bouncer are recovering in hospital from non-fatal wounds suffered at the Ocean’s Eleven Sports Lounge and Grill on Federal Highway, where Stewart and his friends were celebrating a birthday.

Police say Barbara Lee became angry when she thought Stewart’s party, all of whom are deaf, were throwing gang signs at her.

The 45-year-old confronted Stewart and his friends and made gang signs to them. Witnesses say they motioned for the “aggressive” woman to leave them alone.

Instead, Lee left and then shortly returned to the bar with a juvenile and 19-year-old Marco Ibanez, who is accused of pulling out a knife and stabbing the men.

In the ensuing melee, the hearing impaired men suffered stab wounds to the torso and back while the intervening bouncer whas struck on the head with a bottle.

Lee and Ibanez were taken into custody and charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

A 24-year-old man is currently on trial in Australia for allegedly beating his roommate to death … all because the victim didn’t wanna listen to Limp Bizkit.

James Madden has been charged with the murder of 48-year-old Emmanuel McPherson — for allegedly smashing an alcohol bottle over his head and stomping him to death back in 2009.

According to the Brisbane Times, the fight allegedly broke out when McPherson tried to stop Madden from playing an L.B. album on their stereo. No word on which album incited the furor.

After Emmanuel was killed … James allegedly wrapped his body in a sheet and dumped it in a nearby creek.

The trial is still underway.

While he chatted with his girlfriend over a webcam from China at around 1 a.m., a Beijing student says there was a loud knock on her door in Toronto, Canada.  A man entered shortly after and a struggle ensued.

Just hours later, 23-year-old Qian Liu’s body, naked from the waist down, was found in her basement apartment after her landlord went to check on her.

Liu’s boyfriend told CTV about their last video chat:

His webcam conversation with Liu was interrupted when she heard a knock at the door at about 1 am. “She opened the door and it looked like they knew each other pretty well,” said the man who requested anonymity. “They said hello and he borrowed her cell phone.”

The victim’s boyfriend said although it appeared that the man wanted to hug Liu, he saw her refuse. “He wanted to hug (her) but she said no and fought back,” he said. “I was so helpless, I could not calm down until in the end the guy closed the computer.”

As police conduct their investigation, users of Toronto’s Chinese-language message boards are conducting their own via rumor and speculation. A former acquaintance has been pinned as a key suspect by the online rumor mill, and a picture has been widely-circulated. But cops say “we’re not solely looking at this one individual,” according to CTV.

Just sad.

Two Texas twins have been charged with murder after they let their mother die and lived with her dead corpse for three months. (Just damn sick!)

Edwin Berndt and Edward Berndt, both 48, were arrested Monday after cops found the body of their mother, Sybil Berndt, still on the floor of their Houston home, covered in bugs.

Officers said they visited the home after a neighbor reported the woman hadn’t been seen for months.

Edwin Berndt initially refused to let anyone in, but relented when cops demanded to talk to his mom.

Cops said the home was in “deplorable condition and smelled terribly.” The woman’s was found facedown, without underwear and a grubby nightgown pulled up under her arms.

The brothers told cops their mother had died after a fall and they decided to leave her there because they couldn’t afford a burial or ambulance.

They claimed they were watching the NCAA college football championship game Jan. 10 when their mother “came in ranting and raving” and slipped fell on the floor.

She was conscious and talking for the three days before she died Jan. 13, the day after her 89th birthday, her sons told cops.

They admitted they didn’t give her food or water before she died, police said.

During a search of the home, investigators found bank statements for accounts that totaled about $700,000.

Herbert Mike Merritt “was on a mission” to get a beer at a neighborhood bar when he shot a fellow patron and later carved a chunk of the slain man’s flesh and took a bite, a witness testified Tuesday.

“There wasn’t anything that was going to stop him from getting a beer,” Douglas Statzer testified in Knox County Criminal Court Judge Mary Beth Leibowitz’s courtroom. “He looked like a man determined to do what he had to do to have a beer, like he was on a mission.”

Merritt is standing trial on a first-degree murder charge in the June 2008 slaying of Anthony Laymon “Tony” Ford, 45, inside the Friends Sports Bar & Grill in Halls. Merritt’s attorney, Phil Lomonaco, contends that his client was in a psychotic state after failing to take his medicine, evidenced by the fact that Merritt carved a chunk of Ford’s chest to eat. Prosecutor Kyle Hixson counters that Merritt was angry after a spat with his girlfriend and spoiling for a fight.

Statzer testified that Merritt hugged him when he walked in but grew angry and defiant when Statzer reminded him that he had been barred from the bar for brandishing a knife.

“Mike said he wanted a (expletive) beer, and he wanted a (expletive) beer right now,” Statzer said.

Susie Jacobs, an off-duty employee sitting next to Ford at the bar, said she told Merritt, whom bar patrons already had dubbed “Mad Max,” to leave. When Ford and others came to her side as Merritt refused, Merritt flung off his leather jacket, whipped out a gun and shot Ford, she said.

As bar patrons scattered, Statzer said Merritt turned to him and repeated his demand for a beer. Statzer said he grabbed a brew from the bartender and gave it to Merritt, who left but quickly returned with a shotgun.

Statzer managed to talk his way out of the bar, leaving Merritt and Ford behind.

As Merritt holed up in the bar and Knox County Sheriff’s Office’s SWAT team surrounded it, Friends employee Tina Ellison phoned the business to check on the bartender. Merritt answered, she said.

“I said, ‘Why did you do that?’ ” she said of shooting Ford. “He said he was mad at his girlfriend.”

Ellison said she begged Merritt to drag Ford’s body to the door so he could be rescued and get help.

“He said it was too late,” she said. “He told me he was trying to cut (Ford’s) heart out.”

Ford was shot six times, slashed and stabbed. The “heart” Merritt nibbled on was actually a fist-sized chunk of flesh, the remains of which Merritt left on the bar.
