Morgan Freeman wants you to know that he is NOT in a relationship with his step-granddaughter E’Dena Hines.

The actor released a statement to TMZ yesterday denying ongoing rumors claiming the two have been dating for roughly 10 years and were planning to get married in the near future.

“The recent reports of any pending marriage or romantic relationship of me to anyone are defamatory fabrications from the tabloid media designed to sell papers. What is even more alarming is that these fabrications are now being picked up by the legitimate press as well.”

E’Dena — who is the granddaughter of Morgan’s ex wife and is in no way related by blood to the legendary actor — also issued a statement on the matter.

“These stories about me and my grandfather are not only untrue, they are also hurtful to me and my family.”

Morgan says for years, he remained silent up until this point because he didn’t want to “dignify these stories by commenting.” But he says he felt the need to speak out after the false stories were picked up by various “mainstream outlets.”

So there you have it. Morgan Freeman and his step-granddaughter are NOT dating and are NOT getting married. So stop spreading that disgusting rumor! (We’re talking about YOU, National Enquirer)

The 2012 Golden Globe Awards were hosted by Ricky Gervais (for the third time in a row) live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills Sunday night (Jan 15).

Big winners for the night included George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Idris Elba, and the movies “The Artist” and “The Descendants.”

Morgan Freeman was also honored during the three-hour ceremony, with Freeman taking home the Cecil B. De Mille Award, presented to him by legendary actor Sidney Poitier, which Freeman said was an honor in itself.

The official full trailer for “The Dark Knight Rises” — one of next year’s biggest movies — is finally here!

The Film Society of Lincoln Center presented legendary actor Sidney Poitier with the 38th Annual Chaplin Award last night (Sun. May 2) at Alice Tully Hall in New York City. Poitier made history back in the 1960′s when he became the first black person to win an Oscar for his role in “Lilies of the Field.”

Some of the many stars that came out to congratulate Mr. Poitier on receiving the prestigious Chaplin Award included Sanaa Lathan, Chris Tucker, Quincy Jones, James Earl Jones and Morgan Freeman.

Another Twitter hoax has claimed the life of yet another celebrity. Just last week, a trending topic led folks to believe that Keith Sweat had died, forcing the R&B singer to release a video proving that he was alive and well. And now, actor Morgan Freeman is going through something similar (minus the “hey! I’m alive” video).

The rumor apparently started from a fake retweet from CNN that read: “RT @CNN: Breaking News: actor Morgan Freeman has passed away in his Burbank home.” That particular tweet was passed around multiple times, and was re-tweeted by other media outlets, and before you know it, Morgan Freeman became a trending topic. However, CNN’s Twitter account never displayed such a tweet and the network itself cleared up the rumors this evening with a post to its official Twitter page.

The Hollywood Reporter’s annual “Power 100: Women In Entertainment Breakfast” took place this Tuesday (Dec 7) in Beverly Hills.

Many of Hollywood’s influential women were in attendance, but one in particular seemed to stand out. Halle Berry was like a busy bee flying from flower to flower! The actress was there to present Helen Mirren with an award, but was also seen socializing with actors like Morgan Freeman, along with producers, publishers and mentees alike at the event. World renowned actor Morgan Freeman is teaming up with fellow actors Harry Connick Jr. and Ashley Judd in a new movie called “Dolphin Tales.”

The film is based on the true story of a young dolphin named Winter who loses her tail in a crab trap and is rescued off the coast of Florida before being transferred to an aquarium. “Dolphin Tales” will focus on an 11-year-old boy with a huge heart who finds the dolphin missing her tail, and with the help of some friends, including Harry Connick Jr. as a marine biologist and Morgan Freeman as a doctor, he is able to create a prosthetic tail to replace the dolphin’s lost one. Ashley Judd is set to play the boy’s mother.

Production will begin September 27th in Clearwater, FL with the film due for release sometime next year via Warner Bros.

The 82nd Annual Academy Awards, also known simply as “The Oscars,” was held Sunday night (Mar 7) in Los Angeles at the Kodak Theater. GQ Men of the Year Wale and Drake attended the party celebrating their honor at the Chateau Marmont Wednesday evening (Nov 18) in Hollywood. According to the popular men’s magazine, Wale, Drake and Kid Cudi have “killed” gangsta Hip-Hop, earning each of them the “Man of the Year” title.

GQ says: Have you been listening to hip-hop this year? If not, we’ve got good news: The gangster persona is finally dead, and these are the kids who killed it. One song at a time, they build a new era in which duct-taped kilos, exotic firearms, and freaky girls are out and real life is the focus. … Wale is as famous for his live shows as for the slick-witted lyricism of his debut Attention Deficit. Kid Cudi is the cut up who scored with the stoner anthem “Day N Nite” and his album Man on the Moon. And then there’s Drake, who found himself turning down multimillion-dollar offers after his single “Best I Ever Had” exploded. (It helps that the girls like Drake. A lot.) In a move that surprised damn near everyone, Lil Kim and Cyndi Lauper performed “Time After Time” on stage together Saturday night (Jul 18) at the Mandela Day 46664 Celebration Concert … and Lil Kim sang! Albeit, Kim didn’t do very well with her vocals but we give her credit for being bold enough to do something like that in front of so many people. MORGAN FREEMAN DOING WELL AFTER SURGERY » Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman remained in criticial condition throughout the weekend following a serious car crash that flipped his vehicle multiple times and required the jaws of life to pull him free from the wreckage. To see just how serious this crash was, check out a photo here. The “Dark Knight” actor underwent surgery last night, and his condition is said to be improving.

“Morgan is doing well after his surgery last night to reconnect nerves and repair damage in his left arm and hand,” his spokesperson, Donna Lee, said in a statement Tuesday. “The surgery last night lasted four and a half hours. He’s visiting with family this morning. As of this morning he’s up and walking around and looking forward to his release in a few days.”

BERNIE MAC IS NOT DEAD DESPITE RUMORS » Actor Bernie Mac has gone through the horror of being reported as dead, when he’s in fact, alive, but unfortunately, not well. The 50-year-old actor is currently in the hospital undergoing treatment for a chronic case of pneumonia. In regards to the death rumors, his publicist Danica Smith, immediately squashed them over the weekend:

“It’s not true,” Smith told the Chicago Sun-Times, “It is a very horrible rumor. Nothing has changed from yesterday. He is responding well to treatment and will be released soon. He asked that his privacy and that of his family is respected while he gets well. He’s Bernie — he’s one of the best guys you’ll meet.”

Bernie’s publicist also made it clear that his case of pneumonia is completely unrelated to his sarcoidosis, a disease he was diagnosed with a few years back. The disease is said to cause tissue inflammation, particularly in the lungs, but has been in remission since 2005. That’s good to hear! We are praying that Bernie Mac gets well soon as well.

SNOOP DOGG’S “DAWGS” BUSTED FOR HAVING WEED ON THE TOUR BUS » Pot smoking 101: Never smoke weed in a moving vehicle … and that includes tour buses! When Dallas police officers pulled a tour bus occupying rapper Snoop Dogg and his entourage for expired registration tags, they noticed a “funny” smell. They subsequently searched the bus, and found 2 ounces of marijuana. We all know how Snoop Dogg is with his weed, so we all basically know it was his. But 2 unidentified men claimed it was theirs so that Snoop could proceed with the night’s concert, and they were arrested, and later released on $1500 bond. Don’t we all wish we had friends like that?

Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman was injured in a serious car accident in Mississippi Sunday night, according to published reports. The “Dark Knight” star was in a one-car crash about 11:30 p.m., according to celebrity Web site TMZ. The accident happened in the vicinity of Batesville, Miss. According to Memphis’ WMC-TV, Freeman’s 1997 Nissan Maxima went off the edge of Mississippi Highway 32 and flipped several times before coming to a rest.

The actor, 71, and his unidentified female passenger were extracted from the car using the Jaws of Life. Freeman, who talked to state troopers after the wreck, had to be airlifted to a hospital in Memphis, Tenn., more than 100 miles from the scene of the crash. His condition is “serious,” a spokesman at the Regional Medical Center at Memphis said. It was unclear whether alcohol was a factor in the incident.

Freeman lives in Charleston, Miss., which is about 30 miles from the scene of the accident. He also owns a home in New York City. The married father of four won the Academy Award in 2004 for his supporting role in “Million Dollar Baby” and earned a Golden Globe Award for best actor for the 1990 film “Driving Miss Daisy.” Freeman’s publicist could not be reached for comment.
