The 2009 BET Hip Hop Awards went down in Atlanta, GA Saturday (Oct 10). We hear Jay-Z and Young Jeezy opened the show in a big way with a surprise performance! Other tidbits from the show include the late DJ AM being the recipient of the “DJ of the Year” award, Kid & Play popping up during New Boyz‘ performance and Gucci Mane performing like 3 or 4 times. The show also featured performances from Soulja Boy, Ludacris, Jim Jones, Snoop Dogg and more.

The show, hosted by comedian Mike Epps, airs on BET on Tuesday, October 27th at 8/7c and we hear it was actually the best out of the few that have gone on over the past few years.

Rapper Missy Elliot is in the works to produce a film that accurately portrays her life; from her traumatic past to her rise to fame in the 1990s.

“It’s happening; I’ve just got to find a great writer because I wouldn’t want my story watered down,” she tells Elle Magazine. “I went through a lot, and I accomplished a lot, and I want people to know how it all went down.”

Missy, born Melissa Arnette, was repeatedly raped by an older cousin from the age of eight and also witnessed her father abusing her mother. During the 1990s, she became a star and is the only female rapper to have six certified platinum albums.

Hopefully this means a new Missy album soon. She’s been gone for too long. Would you go see a Missy biopic?

New music from Missy Elliott from her upcoming album Block Party (Atlantic). This new track, “Best Best”, is produced by Danjahandz and also will be the first single from this new album. I personally thought “Ching-A-Ling” was the first single and “Shake Your Pom Pom” would be the second. I like those two tracks better than this but maybe it’s just me. Block Party will in stores September 9th.

The contest closes February 20th and the winner will be announced on March 2nd. The winner will receive credit on Missy’s album and a $500 “Respect Me” Adidas gift card.

$500? Shit, at least make it a G lol. I know “Misdemeanor” ain’t that broke! Well, I don’t know … she might be, seeing as she spends at least $1 million on every video she makes. I don’t know if that’s 100% true, but it’s something I heard a while back. Not totally unbelievable since all of her videos have a lot of special effects and ish… And her new video is in 3D, so yeah, it might be true lol.

Missy Elliott’s MySpace bulletin confirmed that “Ching-A-Ling” would be the lead single from the movie soundtrack Step Up 2 the Streets, which is in stores February 5th 2008, and possibly included on Missy’s yet-to-be-titled studio album set to be released during first quarter. Missy NEVER disappoints, never. I loved all of her projects but Cookbook has to be my favourite from her music catalog. From what I hear her newest album is going to be dance-oriented so that will be grand, “Ching-A-Ling” is just a taste of what we can expect I’m sure but I’m lovin’ it! It’s sort of the “I-got-my-check-now-let-me-go-get-ready-for-the-cl ub” track! LOL Her music is always so lively and extrovert, which is the complete opposite of her personality in person; she is reeeally short and shy – not shy like “scared” – but shy like “reserved” and asexual, like me.

R Kelly’s currently on tour with Keyshia Cole, Ne-Yo, and J.Holiday, and the crew touched down in Atlanta last night. I’m hearing Keyshia’s giving a little trouble behind the scenes though. I was reading on Fresh’s site that homegirl wasn’t too happy about her dressing room arrangement (and the show line-up) at the previous show in Columbus, Georgia. She did NOT go on stage that night because she didn’t wanna go BEFORE Ne-Yo! Why? Because she believes that she’s bigger than he is. Wow… Lol. Style Razzi has all the info on that. But it looks like they came to some kind of agreement cause she hit the stage last night in Atlanta. If anyone went to the ATL show last night, PLEASEEEEE hit us up! I wanna know who came first … Keyshia, or Ne-Yo?? Lol!

But on the real, she needs to chill out with that. Drama on the road is not cool, especially when you have to be around these people almost all day long for a period of 2 – 4 months. Wasn’t she the one causing issues a couple of years ago during Kanye’s tour?? It was something between her and Fantasia if I remember correctly.

Well it’s been quite a ride for pop sensation Justin Timberlake from the release of his sophomore effort FutureSex/LoveSounds (Jive/Zomba) last year to the FutureSex/LoveShow world tour he embarked on earlier this year (and apparently continuing through to November 26). Timberlake is set to release the FutureSex/LoveSounds Deluxe Edition (audio/DVD), with added material, including a subtle duet with mega star singer Beyoncé Knowles.
