Michael Jordan is engaged!

The NBA legend proposed to his Cuban-American model girlfriend of 3 years Yvette Prieto over the Christmas Holiday weekend, according to various confirmed reports.

And, of course, Yvette said yes.

But, who wouldn’t? This is Michael Jordan we’re talking about. What logically-thinking woman would turn down a proposal from one of the richest men in the world?

His first wife (Juanita) walked away from the marriage with a reported $168 million settlement, making her one of the richest ex wives in sports history, next to Tiger Woods’ ex wife Elin Nordegren, who scored at least $100 million with her divorce settlement.

But Yvette probably won’t be so lucky, as we’re almost positive MJ has learned his lesson this time around and will make her sign a prenup.

Anyway … congrats!

Most of you probably saw the Miami Heat literally demolish the Chicago Bulls in Game 5 of the NBA Eastern Conference Playoff Series last Thursday night (May 26). And some of you might have noticed that former NBA player Scottie Pippen was sitting court side to see Lebron James literally take charge of the game to eliminate the Bulls.

Well the next day, Pippen called into ESPN Radio’s Mike & Mike show to give his opinion of the game and Lebron James. He even went so far as to say that Lebron is better than Michael Jordan!

“Michael Jordan is probably the greatest scorer to ever play in the game, but I may go as far to say LeBron James is probably the greatest player to ever play the game,” Pippen said confidently. “He’s so potent offensively…not only can he score at will, but he keeps everybody involved. You have to be on your Ps and Qs because everybody is a threat to score when he’s on the floor. Not only that, LeBron James will dominate the game on the offensive end and he’s able to do it on the defensive end as well. He can get in those passing lanes and dominate the game.”

Really Pippen?

Lebron James is definitely one of the best players in the NBA today, but he’s nowhere near Michael Jordan in any way. Lebron has not even won a title…yet. Even when he does, he will need to do it about 5 or 6 more times, then you can start making your “King James” vs “MJ” comparisons. Honestly, we could see Kobe Bryant being seriously compared to MJ waaay before Lebron.

Anyway, once LeBron caught wind of Scottie’s outlandish comments, he had this to say:

“Michael’s an unbelievable player. I’ve got a long way — long way — to be mentioned as far as one of the all-time greats. Not even just Jordan. There’s a lot of great players who have played in this league. Larry Bird, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, all these guys who are floating around with multiple rings, Bill Russell, all these guys who have pioneered this game.

“I’m gracious. Humbled by Scottie’s comments, especially with him being a teammate of his and seeing Michael on a day-to-day basis. But as far as me, I’m not going to sit here and say I’m better than Jordan. I’m not better than Jordan.”

Well there you have it! We definitely had an opinion on this matter, but Lebron said exactly what we were thinking.

No one says “goodbye” like Oprah!

A bunch of the media mogul’s most famous friends, including Beyonce, Stevie Wonder, Jamie Foxx, Alicia Keys and many more packed into the United Center in Chicago for “Surprise Oprah! A Farewell Spectacular,” a star-studded send-off for the legendary talk show host.

Beyonce kicked off the festivities with a performance of her new single “Run the World (Girls),” which was followed by a poem recital from Maya Angelou (accompanied by Alicia Keys on the piano), a performance from music legend Aretha Franklin, an appearance from Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, a performance from Usher and more. The event also featured appearances form many other celebrities, including Tyler Perry, Tom Hanks, Maria Shriver (Arnold Schwarzenegger’s estranged wife), Simon Cowell, Patti Labelle, Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes and tons more.

“Surprise Oprah! A Farewell Spectacular” will air on television today (May 23) and tomorrow (May 24).

After NBA mega-star Lebron James‘ controversial decision to join Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh on the Miami Heat, blogs and Twitter accounts said the basketball player would no longer be compared to Michael Jordan, who stayed with the Bulls through thick and thin and led the team to 6 championships.

Well, Jordan himself recently gave his opinion on James’ decision after a charity golf event in Nevada.

“There’s no way, with hindsight, I would’ve ever called up Larry, called up Magic and said, ‘Hey, look, let’s get together and play on one team. But that’s … things are different. I can’t say that’s a bad thing. It’s an opportunity these kids have today. In all honesty, I was trying to beat those guys.”

Earlier this week, Charles Barkley gave his opinion on the situation to the Arizona Republic, and he didn’t bother sugarcoating it:

“Mike and I are in 100 percent agreement on this. If you’re the two-time defending NBA MVP, you don’t leave anywhere. They come to you. That’s ridiculous. I like LeBron. He’s a great player. But I don’t think in the history of sports you can find a two-time defending MVP leaving to go play with other people.”

Basketball great Michael Jordan has stirred up a bit of controversy in a new Hanes commercial. In the commercial, M.J. rocks the “Hitler mustache” and looks rather odd if we do say so ourselves!

Come on Mike, where they do that at?! Hitler?! Of all people? SMH..

Basketball legend Michael Jordan scored a major deal with the Charlotte Bobcats Thursday (Mar 18). The former NBA player was approved to purchase the Bobcats from Bob Johnson for $275 million, making him the first former player to own an NBA team in history! And speaking of historics, MJ is the second black majority owner. Bob was the first.

Michael promises that he’s going to help Charlotte experience what winning is about, and told reporters and season ticket holders in a press conference that owning his very own NBA team is a “dream come true”

Athletes and celebrities alike hit up the Exclusive Fabulous 23 Dinner hosted by Jordan Brand during All-Star Weekend 2010 in Dallas, TX Friday night (Feb 12).

Some of the guests in the building were Denver Nuggets basketball player Carmelo Anthony, his fiancee Lala Vazquez, rapper Bun B, Miami Heat player Dwyane Wade, Michael Jordan himself and more. IT’S MICHAEL JORDAN!

Six-time NBA champion Michael Jordan hit up the Inaugural Mike Weir Charity Classic at the Glen Abbey Golf Club Monday (Jul 20) in Oakville, Ontario (Canada).

The former basketball star is currently part-owner of the Charlotte Bobcats and he owns the “Michael Jordan Suzuki” (a pro closed-course motorcycle road racing team sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association). And he has also owned his own clothing/shoe brand, known as “Jordan Brand,” since 1984 (then known as Air Jordan).

After making a pretty big name for himself with his basketball career, he retired in 1993 to play professional baseball, only to rejoin his basketball team, the Chicago Bulls, just two years later. He retired from basketball for a second time in 1999, but once again, returned to basketball 2 years later as a member of the Washington Wizards.

He retired for good in 2003 and will be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in September 2009.

Forbes released their list of the top-earning African American stars. Oprah Winfrey tops the list, earning a whopping $260 million, Tiger Woods trails behind her at a distant $100 milion, and Jay-Z is right behind him with $83 million earned. The list also includes Beyonce (#9 at $27 million) and Kobe Bryant (#5 at $33 million). The list was determined off of earnings between June 2006 and June 2007. Check out the full list below!

Word on the curb is that she’s planning to sell the estate to L.A. Lakers star Kobe Bryant, who ironically might become a Chicago Bull in the future! I guess she’s “keeping it in the family.” On top of that, home girl is supposedly dating a young banker. So yeah, she’s paid … for life. Must be nice… I mean, real talk, can I just have $100,000??? That won’t even make a dent in that $168 million!!
