Janet Jackson // October 2009 Harper's Bazaar Magazine

Janet Jackson gave her very first interview since the passing of her brother Michael Jackson to Harper’s Bazaar Magazine. The pop diva is featured on the cover of the October 2009 issue of the magazine and talks about the last time she saw Mike, her break-up with Jermaine Dupri and everything in between. She even revealed that she’s stayed away from the television, newspapers, the internet and the entire media in general ever since June 25th.

Janet Jackson hasn’t watched television since her brother Michael died suddenly in Los Angeles on June 25. She has blocked herself off completely from the hysterical media coverage of his death — who did it, what did it. “It will drive you crazy,” she says. “People can have rhinoceros skin, but there’s a point when something’s going to hurt you. Not everyone is stone, stone. I haven’t watched the news in weeks. I had to ask my chef, How’s Obama doing? I haven’t read a newspaper. On top of that, [we've lost] a family member.”

The last time Janet saw Michael was on May 14, two days before her 43rd birthday. It was a family celebration, the Jackson kids were running around, and she and her big brother hung out, ate Thai food, and tormented each other. “We had so much fun that day,” she says, her soft voice almost inaudible. “We kept calling each other after and saying how great it was.”

Janet is also now single, recently breaking off her seven-year relationship with music producer Jermaine Dupri. Does she still believe in marriage? “For [some] people, sure! I don’t know if I’ll get married again. [She's been married twice, as a teen to James DeBarge and to choreographer René Elizondo.] I’ll put it like this: If God wants me to, then I will.” Dating? “Yeah, I’ve had people ask me out. I haven’t entertained any offers thus far, but I’m locking myself in my work right now.” Some might say boys smell anyway. “Yeah, they stink,” she chuckles, “and they’re dirty.”

Janet and Michael Jackson

We’ve kept from posting this due to the fact that it was falsely reported a while ago but now that MTV has confirmed it, we are please to inform you that Janet Jackson will be taking to the stage this Sunday to tribute her late brother, the one and only King of Pop Michael Jackson! The pop singer, who has nine moonmen of her own, will help open the show and honor MJ’s long and successful career in the music biz.

It’s about damn time someone gave MJ a proper tribute, and who better to do it than his sister? Janet has kept silent since the passing of Michael so this is a nice way to make a statement. We’re definitely looking forward to this Sunday! Expect this to sh*t all over BET’s “tribute.” Yes, we’re STILL bitter about it!

The VMAs will air September 13th at 9PM EST.

The film will run only for two weeks, starting on October 28th and tickets will go on sale Sunday, September 27th. In the meantime, visit the official website for more details.

That poster looks great and we will be standing in line for those tickets as soon as they go on sale! Those tickets are going to sell out quickly and we definitely expect this movie to break records. Will you be seeing this when it comes out?

Chris Brown // Michael Jackson

It’s really up to the courts whether or not Chris Brown will be taking part in a Michael Jackson tribute concert, set to be held in Vienna on September 26th. Jermaine Jackson himself announced that Brown, along with Mary J. Blige, Akon, Natalie Cole, Angela Bassett and more are set to appear at the tribute and the final list of performers and celebrity attendees hasn’t been finalized, so more could be (and will be) added.

Sometime during the show, expected to draw 65,000 fans to the venue, Jermaine will perform alongside a virtual Michael Jackson in a sure-to-be touching and “magic moment for all who loved his music,” Jermaine said.

While a label rep denies that Chris Brown will be taking part in the tribute, Jermaine says that the young pop star definitely wants to be a part of it.

“Chris Brown is working out some situations but he definitely expressed to us that he wants to be here,” said Jermaine. “It’s just up to what he’s going through with his court case right now. … People make mistakes and he’s a wonderful performer and during these times people need support and that’s really important.”

Michael Jackson's casket // Michael Jackson's Private Funeral

Nearly three months after his surprising death, Michael Jackson was finally laid to rest Thursday evening (Sep 3) in an intimate ceremony only attended by close family and friends at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, located in the Glendale district of Los Angeles. According to reports, guests were told the ceremony would start promptly at 7 P.M. (sunset) but the Jackson family left them waiting for about an hour until they showed up a little after 8 P.M. (PT). Jackson’s brothers, Randy, Marlon, Tito, Jackie and Jermaine, wheeled his gold casket to the front of the service once they arrived, and his three children, Prince Michael, Paris and Prince Michael Jr., placed a gold crown on top of the flowers adorning it. They also wrote letters to their father that were placed inside of his casket, alongside one of his signature white gloves.

Celebrities among the attending guests were, of course, the Jackson family, Chris Tucker, Elizabeth Taylor, Quincy Jones, Berry Gordy, Macaulay Culkin, Rev. Al Sharpton, MJ’s ex wife Lisa Marie Presley and Gladys Knight, who sang a gospel song after a prayer by Pastor Lucius Smith. Clifton Davis also performed “Never Can Say Goodbye,” the popular song he wrote for the Jackson 5. After the ceremony was over, MJ’s brothers carried his casket to the Grand Mausoleum, where Michael Jackson entered his final resting place.

Dr. Conrad Murray // Michael Jackson

Dr. Conrad Murray administered lethal levels of a drug known as “Propofol” to Michael Jackson, which caused him to go into cardiac arrest and die, reports TMZ. The King of Pop’s sudden death has officially been ruled a “homicide.”

Dr. Conrad Murray told cops he had been treating Jackson for 6 weeks for insomnia — giving him 50 milligrams of Propofol every night through an IV. Murray told cops he feared Jackson was getting addicted so he reduced the dosage to 25 mg. The morning Jackson died, Dr. Murray gave Jackson valium at 1:30 AM. Murray said the valium didn’t work so he gave the singer an IV injection of lorazepam — an anti-anxiety drug. Murray told cops Jackson was still awake, so he then gave him midazolam — a sedative. Murray gave Jackson more drugs. He says at 10:40 AM, he administered 25 mg of Propofol. Dr. Murray told cops Jackson repeatedly demanded the drug.

Dr. Conrad Murray // Michael Jackson

It’s being reported that Michael Jackson’s doctors, Dr. Conrad Murray and Dr. Arnold Klein, are both set to be arrested in the upcoming weeks and both will most likely be charged with Michael Jackson’s death. Murray, Jackson’s personal doctor, is facing manslaughter charges, while Klein, Jackson’s dermatologist, will face charges linked to medical malpractice related to the singer’s drug addiction. Dr. Klein isn’t expected to be arrested for several weeks due to police still gathering evidence against him.

Officers investigating the late ‘Thriller’ singer’s death are planning to arrest Dr. Conrad Murray over claims he gave Michael prescription drugs, including an injection of powerful anaesthetic Propofol which is alleged to have killed him on June 25. Investigators had hoped to take the physician into custody as early as next week, but they are now planning to issue one more search warrant – believed to be on a Los Angeles pharmacy – to gather more evidence before moving forward, according to Fox News. Murray – who has allegedly told officers he administered the injection – was to be charged with second degree murder, but officers fear they don’t have enough evidence to make the charge stand.

Kanye West // Michael Jackson

We’re not sure if you caught the “update” to our original story of Kanye West supposedly campaigning to be the new King of Pop, but it turns out the whole thing was fake and if you notice, the website we sourced the story to has a disclaimer at the bottom basically saying you should take everything posted on the site with a grain a salt. And in true Kanye fashion, the Chicago bred rapper himself has responded to the bogus story with a message all in caps on his personal blog:

I WAS JUST LISTENING TO WENDY WILLIAMS AND HEARD SOME QUOTE ABOUT ME SAYING I’M THE NEW KING OF POP. NOT ONLY DID I NOT SAY THAT, I HAVEN’T SAID ANYTHING. IT MAKES ME FEEL BAD THAT OBVIOUSLY I MADE PEOPLE FEEL THAT I WOULD BE CORNY ENOUGH TO SAY SOMETHING SO WHACK AFTER THE PASSING OF AN IDOL, A LEGEND AND MORE THAN THAT A HUMAN BEING WITH FEELINGS AND FAMILY. IT SCARES ME TO THINK WHAT PEOPLE WILL BELIEVE, WITHOUT EVEN A SOURCE. ANY RANDOM PERSON CAN TYPE SOMETHING ON THE INTERNET AND THEN THE WORLD BELIEVES IT. I DON’T TALK TO PRESS OR DO TV OR DO PROMOTIONS OF ANY SORT. I’VE STOPPED CHASING AND BUYING INTO FAME. FAME IS LIKE CIGARETTES WITH NO SURGEON GENERAL WARNING. IT DESTROYS MOST PEOPLE AS IT DID TO THE TRUE AND ONLY KING OF POP. WE EXPLOIT OURSELVES AND EAT OUR OWN EGOS ‘TILL THERE IS NOTHING LEFT. I HAVE A FEELING THAT THIS WON’T BE THE LAST FALSE STATEMENT WITH MY NAME ON IT, BUT THIS WILL BE THE LAST TIME I DEFEND MYSELF. I’M DONE.

Now, we’re not going to lie. That satire website had us fooled for a minute, but we still didn’t put it past Kanye to come up with something that crazy and outlandish. C’mon now, it’s KANYE we’re talking about here! But we’re glad to know dude hasn’t completely lost his mind. With this recent (and last) explanation, we’ll be sure to give our boy the benefit of the doubt in future cases.

Paris Hilton // Paris Jackson

Here’s something that may give you a little giggle. Or make you want to slap the nearest blond-haired female. Or both. Your girl Paris Hilton seriously thinks Michael Jackson named his only daughter, Paris, after her!

Hilton tells Extra, “My mom and Michael went to high school together and they were best friends since they were 13. So I grew up knowing Michael very well and when he had his daughter, he always loved the name Paris and grew up being an uncle to me. So he asked my mom if it was okay and of course she said yes and I think she’s such a beautiful little girl and I’m proud we have the same name.”

She probably thinks Paris, the capital of France, is named after her too! What a dumb@ss…
