Since the CNN interview with Jackson family patriarch Joe Jackson on the red carpet of the BET Awards surfaced, several media outlets have attacked him and his behavior, saying that he is showing no respect for his son by promoting his plugging his new record label. Since then, Al Sharpton and Joe held a press conference regarding the situation in an attempt to rectify the situation and clear up a few things. Continue reading to check it out.

Rumors are running rampant on the internet insisting that Jay-Z was the force behind Chris Brown not being able to pay homage to Michael Jackson at the 2009 BET Awards. A rapper just doesn’t have that kind of power. It was the BET execs, and more importantly the Viacom execs, who decided it wouldn’t be good for their “image” to let Chris Brown perform. Believe what and who you want to believe, but our sources can confirm that Jay-Z had NOTHING to do with Chris Brown being axed from the show at the very last minute.
In what had to have been one of the most difficult moments in her life, the late Janet Jackson took the stage at the 2009 BET Awards to thank everyone for their prayers and support in honor of her big brother, Michael Jackson.
“My entire family wanted to be here tonight, but it was just too painful … To you, Michael is an icon; to us, Michael is family and he will forever live in all of our hearts.”
Her unexpected appearance was met with applause and a standing ovation from the teary-eyed crowd. And we’re very proud of her for being strong enough to walk out on stage, speak to millions of people and keep her composure. We know how close she and Michael were. After Janet left the stage, Ne-Yo and Jamie Foxx closed out the show with a beautiful rendition of “I’ll Be There.” Continue reading for more photos and video.

Joe Jackson, the patriarch of the Jackson family, gave his first public interview since Michael Jackson’s shocking death to CNN on the red carpet of Sunday’s (Jun 28) 2009 BET Awards. Between him having other people speak for him, referring to his family losing “the biggest superstar in the world” and plugging his new record label at the end, we just think ol’ Joe Jackson was there to show face, instead of honoring his SON. It’s kind of weird how he referred to Mike as “the biggest superstar in the world” instead of his son. He just seems so indifferent to it all. Everything is just business with this guy and the entire interview gives off an awkward vibe.
CNN: I know the last couple of days has been tough for you guys…
Joe: And?… Yeah, it has. It’s been really tough. Remember we just lost the biggest superstar in the world, so it’s been tough…

BET needs to be ashamed of themselves for using Michael Jackson’s name to hype up ratings. Because that’s EXACTLY what they did. If you didn’t catch the 2009 BET Awards, trust us … you didn’t miss much. The show was obviously thrown together at the last minute, and they should have left MJ’s name out of it if they weren’t going to deliver.
On Friday, via their official website, they put out a story saying that they would be “shifting gears” to honor Michael Jackson and his contributions to the world of music and the entire world in general. The final result? A sloppy mess that looks like it was put together in an AOL Instant Messenger chat room the day before. Now we’re not going to knock Jamie Foxx and Ne-Yo for their tributes, because they were on point. And even Ciara did her thing too. But no one would have done a tribute like Chris Brown…

Michael Jackson’s family have taken a moment from this emotional time in their lives to release an official statement regarding the death of their son and brother:
“In one of the darkest moments of our lives we find it hard to find the words appropriate to this sudden tragedy we all had to encounter. Our beloved son, brother and father of three children has gone so unexpectedly, in such a tragic way and much too soon. It leaves us, his family, speechless and devastated to a point where communication with the outside world seems almost impossible at times.
According to recent reports, Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” tour will now become a one performance tribute show to Jackson. The concert will be held in September, will include many high-profile singers and will be a replica of the original “This Is It” tour, scheduled to kick off in London just weeks after the King of Pop passed away. The tour would have also been his last tour, as implied by the press release held in March 2009.
You should definitely expect singers from Beyonce to Chris Brown to pounce on this as it will definitely be the must-see concert of the year. But with one show, you have to wonder how they will handle tickets. We think the thousands that already paid to see him should be able to buy tickets first but then again, it’s not up to us. What do you think about the tribute concert and those already holding tickets?
Not even 72 hours since Michael Jackson passed and a new song featuring Chris Brown, The Game, and Diddy has joined the many other tributes that have surfaced. The song is titled “Better on the Other Side” and it is produced by DJ Khaled and features various artists such as Chris Brown, Diddy, Boyz II Men and more.
Better On The Other Side
Rip MJ.
It’s no secret that Beyonce has always held the late King of Pop Michael Jackson as one of her heroes and one of the reasons why she loves music so much. This week when her “I Am…” tour stopped in Philadelphia, she payed tribute to MJ by performing his classic “I Can’t Help It” off of his “Off The Wall” album. Check it out after the break.

Usher: “This loss has deeply saddened me, with a heavy heart I composed this statement. May God cover you Michael. We all lift your name up in prayer. I pray for the entire Jackson family particularly Michael’s mother and all his fans that loved him so much. I would not be the artist, performer, and philanthropist I am today without the influence of Michael. I have great admiration and respect for Him and I’m so thankful I had the opportunity to meet and perform with such a great entertainer In so many ways he transcended culture. He broke barriers, he changed radio formats! With music, he made it possible for people like Oprah Winfrey and Barack Obama to impact the mainstream world. His legacy is unparalleled Michael Jackson will never be forgotten.”
Diddy: “Michael Jackson showed me that you can actually see the beat. He made the music come to life!! He made me believe in magic. I will miss him!”
Ludacris: “If it were not for Michael Jackson I would not be where or who I am today. His Music and Legacy will live on Forever. Prayers to the fam. R.I.P.”
