The 2011 American Music Awards took place at the Nokia Theater L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California last night (Sun. Nov 20).

The annual showcase of American music was quite the star-studded spectacle too, with red carpet appearances from the likes of Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Jennifer Hudson, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Soulja Boy, Taio Cruz, Miguel and many more.

Many different celebrities were on hand for the 11th Annual BMI Urban Awards, held Friday night (Aug 26) in Los Angeles at the Pantages Theater.

Some of the celebs in attendance at the 2011 BMI Awards were Drake, Dr. Dre, Mario, Christina Milian, Busta Rhymes and more. The show also featured performances/appearances from Wiz Khalifa, Game, Snoop Dogg and Charlie Wilson.

Former collaborators 50 Cent and Lil Kim linked up earlier this week to perform their 2003 hit single “Magic Stick” at the Winterbeatz Music Festival in Melbourne, Australia.

Though largely unconfirmed, recent reports suggested that the pint-size rapper had inked a deal with 50 Cent’s G-Unit records. But acording to UMG’s new roster, Lil Kim is now an artist under Universal Music Group.

Other acts who performed Wednesday night (Aug 17) at the Winterbeatz festival in Australia were rapper Fabolous and R&B singer Mario. Check out a few pics below:

The 2010 ESPY Awards were held yesterday (Wed. Jul 14) in Los Angeles, CA. And celebs like Amber Rose, Mario (who brought along his new girlfriend Dez), Terrell Owens, Chris Bosh, Kenyon Martin, Hank Baskett & Kendra Wilkinson, Zac Efron and more all walked the red carpet before making their way into the Nokia Theater L.A. Live for the ESPYs, which, hosted by sports network ESPN, honors the best athletes and teams in the world of sports. Reggie Bush also attended the Espys Wednesday evening, but chose not to arrive to the show with his rumored new girlfriend Amber Rose, who made her presence known on the red carpet with a bright yellow dress.

The 2010 Espys also featured a performance from singer Janelle Monae, who also participated in a funny skit with actor/comedian Will Ferrell (equipped with one of those loud, annoying vuvuzelas). Actresses Monique Coleman and Keke Palmer hung out with actor/comedian Chris Tucker Saturday afternoon (May 29) in Los Angeles at the Pacific Palisades High School as the three of them participated in Britticares “Smile for Life” 5K Run/Walk in memory of Brittiana Renee‘ and other young children who suffer (or have died from) cancer.

A sold out crowd turned out Saturday night (May 15) to see Chris Brown and his friends perform at the “Virginia Stand Up! A Call to Action” charity concert in Richmond, VA. The R&B/Pop star headlined the benefit concert held at the Virginia Commonwealth University’s Siegel Center and really put on a show for the ladies, as noted by our friends over at Neon Limelight.

After running through uptempo songs like “Gimme That,” “Run It,” and “I Can Transform Ya” — and changing into denim jeans, a black t-shirt, and a denim jacket — Brown slowed things down with a couple of steamy songs from his Valentine’s Day mixtape In My Zone. He pulled one lucky girl from the audience (making sure she was of age), sat her in a lounge chair, and treated her to a up close and personal serenade of “Sex” and a shirtless grind-fest during “Take You Down.”

The singer also brought out guests T-Pain, Keri Hilson, Trey Songz, Tank, Mario and Ryan Leslie to perform their own sets for the concert. Chris even invited Young Money rapper Tyga to perform a collaboration from their new Fan of a Fan mixtape.

The event was organized by Chris, along with the Greater Richmond Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Central Virginia Food Bank, in an effort to help out his home state of Virginia and to give further relief aid to the victims of the January earthquake in Haiti.

Chris, we’re glad to see you giving back to those in need. Keep up the good work!

R&B singer Mario and his new cut buddy were spotted frolicking in Miami Beach over the weekend. The girl’s name is Desiree aka “Dez” and she’s supposedly Amber Rose‘s former BFF (and rumored ex girlfriend cause you know Amber goes both ways). According to the homie Necole Bitchie, Mario and Dez have been living it up in Florida all week and were also spotted vacationing at Disney World.

Now if you have no clue who “Dez” is, here’s a little background info: She first got her 15 mins of fame after photos of her and Amber Rose in freaky poses circulated the net some time last year.  She’s a former stripper from Philly who danced at the same club as Amber and she also was in a long-term relationship with Mario’s manager J Erving who almost wifed her up. So how the hell did Mario end up with her? O_0

Mario is the latest celebrity to hop on the PETA bandwagon and promote their whole anti-fur movement. The 23-year-old R&B singer says he picks his bare bod and “ink” (tattoos) over “mink” (fur).

“Every piece of fur that you see out there and people wearing, there’s an animal [who's] lost … his or her life.” This realization prompted him not just to give up wearing fur but also to pass up opportunities to profit from the suffering of animals. In the video, he tells us, “I’ve been offered deals to wear fur … for tour and for stage.” But Mario proves with this ad that he’d rather go shirtless than steal the skin of a beautiful animal. The 2009 Soul Train Awards, hosted by Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard, were held earlier this month (Tues. Nov 3) at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta and were aired last night (Sun. Nov 3) on BET. We posted the arrival photos shortly after the show was recorded at the beginning of the month and here are the pictures from inside the show!

Folks like Robin Thicke, Ludacris, Keri Hilson, Fantasia and more performed. Trey Songz and Toni Braxton opened up the show with Braxton’s new single “So Yesterday” and ended their performance with a big ol’ passionate smooch on the lips! Toni says it was all planned and her husband knew about it well in advance so any speculation about that causing the separation between she and her husband is reportedly false.

R&B singer/actor Mario hit the stage as the headliner at the event, which included a full day of activities, contests and other events, including the concert. The event is totally free and was hosted by comedian Kevin Heart. Producer/songwriter turned singer Sean Garrett and new R&B girl group Rich Girl also performed during the concert portion of the event.

Teaming up with the fast food giant, Mario will perform in over six North American cities this summer. The best part is… it’s free !

In addition to having Mario lined up for what Burger King is calling “BK Fam Fest,” the chain will also offer a full day of activities, contests, and other events in each city. The 2008 BET Awards aired last night and yours truly is here to inform you of the hottest (and not so hot) styles worn at the award show. Some of the best dressed female celebs of the night were Rihanna, Gabrielle Union, Jennifer Hudson, and Alicia Keys. Rihanna wore a neon yellow Giambattista Valli dress from his spring/summer 2008 line, Gabrielle Union wore a gorgeous white Celine Vonn dress, Jennifer Hudson wore A brown Peter Soronen corset dress, and Alicia Keys wore a strapless pink David Meister David Meister dress with Melody Ehsani Hate/Love Rings. I also loved Alicia’s Sergio Rossi heels. Keep reading for more styles from the show.

Some more looks I thought were hot came from Ashanti, Lauren London, Cassie, and Trina. Ashanti wore a black Marchesa gown, Lauren wore Givenchy Open Toe Ankle Booties and a strapless French Connection “Wizard” dress, Cassie wore a cute pink Vivienne Westwood dress, and while I loved the yellow dress Trina wore, her Louis Vuitton Murakami Monogramouflage speedy really took away from the look.

Each of my picks for my best dressed guys had on Guccci! Chris Brown, Mario, and David Banner were all dressed to impress and weren’t the only ones rockn’ Gucci. Rick Ross, Flo-Rida, Shawty Lo, and Soulja Boy all had on the brand as well.

For worst dressed we have Soulja Boy, Keyshia Cole, Lil’ Mama, Angel Lola Luv, Keri Hilson, and Solange. I liked the yellow dress Keyshia wore and the black Betsey Johnson Dahlia Dress Angel wore but, I hated it on them. The yellow dress looks to big on Keyshia and the Betsy Johnson dress just doesn’t look right on Lola. Soulja Boy and Solonge just have too much going on in their looks, Keri Hilson’s 70′s inspired style is NOT working for her and Lil’ Mama is just … unique.

From sporting top hats to wearing four watches on one arm, T-Pain was BY FAR the worst dressed celeb at the BET Awards. I can’t knock T-Pain too much, I mean, weren’t we all expecting him to wear something foolish? T-Pain is just different and I guess he likes to incorporate that into his “style.” Hey, at least it’s not stopping him from selling records!

Of course she had to run home after she did her duty at the ceremony because child neglect charges aren’t something anyone wants on their record!

Actor Denzel Washington was spotted on location yesterday afternoon (Apr. 27th) in NYC for “The Taking Of Pelham 123,” his new movie, directed by Tony Scott. Be on the look-out for the movie when it hits theaters summer 2009.

Rapper Trina performed at the Beach Ball Festival in Miami yesterday afternoon (Apr. 27th). The festival is best known for its competitive activities that include staff members of some of South Beat Miami’s hottest nightclubs and restaurants going head-to-head in games of dodgeball, tug-of-war, rock climbing, and more. And to keep it even more interesting, there’s a liquor-tasing tent, and of course, musical performances.

The Lakers games these past couple of weeks have been on and poppin’ as far as celebrity turn-out! It seems as though every day, or every other day at least, we’re posting about who hit up one of the games. Singer Mario and actor Evan Ross can be seen above with their “Kool Moe Dee” shades on at last night’s game. Why the hell are they wearing shades to a baksetball game? I’m not sure about how they like to view games, but if I had courtside seats, I definitely wouldn’t be hindering my view in any kind of way. But that’s just me.

R&B singer Mario will be one of 12 celebrity performers on ABC’s top-rated Dancing with the Stars when it returns in its 6th season premiere March on 17, 2008.

“I’ve never done ballroom dancing, but I’ll be ready. Everywhere I go, I represent my city, Baltimore,” he said. “And coming from a place where success stories for youth are few and far between, I see my involvement in Dancing with the Stars as a chance for me to show millions of viewers what hard work and dedication can accomplish. This is the story of my life. When my manager called me to talk me about being on the show, he knew what my first answer was going to be. But then I came to notice that the show gave viewers a chance to get to know the performer behind the costume – and I liked that. I like the fact that I will be carrying the torch for my generation. And, I also like the fact that I will be doing it with such a diverse and accomplished cast of other performers this year. This is definitely a challenge, but I’ve had challenges all my life. At the end of the day, if you dedicate yourself, there’s nothing you can’t do. This is just another way for me to express myself, and we’re going to be amazing.”

(J Records), which is in stores now – I highly recommend you buy this album! I think the single is gold, really every song from that album I find single-material. The song is really subtle with melodies and harmonies, it’s “whip-listenable,” as well as pleasurable, in my opinion.

Chris Brown ft. Will.i.am » “Picture Perfect” » LISTEN » (Full) » “Picture Perfect” featuring domestic-producer Will.i.am will be Chris Brown’s forth single from Exclusive (Jive). It’s interesting they’re making this a single; Chris Brown co-produced it. “PP” took me a minute to get into, it wasn’t my immediate favorite when I first heard Exclusive, but I’m feeling it now! I can’t wait to see how this plays out, with the promotion, video, etc.

Fergie » “Finally” » LISTEN » (Full) » “Finally” will be the final single from Fergie’s 3x’s platinum-album The Dutchess (A&M). The song itself was produced by John Legend, he was the pianist, and also Fergie stated that she would be performing with him at the 50th Grammy Awards. I liked this song a lot listening to Fergie’s album, the song was a nice ballad for her, it really showed her vocal capability nice.

Kanye West ft. Chris Martin » “Homecoming” » LISTEN » (Full) » “Homecoming,” featuring Cold Play’s Chris Martin, will be the fifth single from Kanye West’s 2x’s platinum-album Graduation (Def Jam). Unfortunately the song will only be released in the UK, instead of “Flashing Lights,” which is serving as the fourth single in the rest of the world. I said it once, and I’ll say it again, you UKer’s get everything! Lol. But for real, I really like this song, “Homecoming” has to be the most creative, conceptual song I’ve heard, as far as personification, this great man – is genius!

Mariah Carey brought in the new year with Da Brat, Mario, Vanessa Simmons, Kelis, and Nas at Tao Nightclub in Las Vegas. I wonder how many people it took to shove Mariah in that tight ass dress. I ain’t hatin’ though, the body is bangin!

THE DELANO HOSTS A NEW YEAR’S EVE CELEBRATION IN MIAMI

Cee-Lo Green, Christina Milian, Dre (of Cool & Dre), and Jazze Pha partied it up New Years Eve at the Florida Room at the Delano in Miami.

“Down In Tha Dirty” is the second single by Disturbing tha Peace from their compilation album Strength in Numbers. It features Bun B & Rick Ross and was produced by Clinton Sparks.

Although not an “official” single Mario decided to go ahead and release “Do Right,” produced by Akon, with a video. I loved this song from Go the most!

“Independent” is the first single from Webbie (idk why ppl say I look like him lol) from his album Savage Life 2. It features Lil Phat and Lil Boosie. Aw, what a positive song – I like this! And that Pimp C dedication was really nice!

Givin’ Me A Rush, also called Give Me A Rush, is a single from Tyra B. from her debut album Introducing Tyra. It has so far peaked at 68 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, and 69 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. It contains vocal interpolations from both Michael Jackson’s Human Nature, and Paula Abdul’s Rush Rush. The music video for the single was premiered on 106 & Park December 11th 2007.

Mario ft. Akon – “City”

Here R&B crooner Mario can be heard with Konvict’s own Akon in a nice, smooth R&B duet entitled “City.” The song, which features Akon, is an unreleased track from Mario’s latest album Go (J Records). This was an interesting collaboration for me, Akon rocks it, I’ll admit. I can see why this didn’t really make the album but still a great track and solid delivery from Mario nonetheless. Mario I find so flawless collaborating becos he meshes so well and seemingly effortless, it’s magical. There’s talk of a “Crying Out For Me” remix circulating – it’ll be interesting to know if there are any guest appearances involved.

Keyshia Cole and Mario hit up MTV’s Total Request Live yesterday afternoon. Keyshia performed her new single “Shoulda Let You Go” with Amina, and Mario was there to promote his new album “Go.” Lupe Fiasco dropped by the popular countdown show as well.
