Lil Scrappy is lucky to be alive right now … becasuse the Atlanta rapper was hospitalized Tuesday after suffering a severe asthma attack.

“I damn near died … if it weren’t for my driver, mom, and rap artist I would have been dead,” Scrappy told TMZ.

Scrappy says he had been heavily drinking Monday night and when he woke up Tuesday morning could barely breathe or talk. “I felt like I was dying,” he said.

He was immediately rushed to the Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, where he was treated and later released.

Scrappy now owns a breathing machine and plans on taking it everywhere he goes. “I will never leave anywhere without it again,” he said.

Lil Scrappy has spoken out on his ex-girlfriend former Crime Mob rapper Diamond dating Soulja Boy.

The Atlanta rapper called into the Durtty Boyz on Hot 107.9 and explained what’s really going on. Check out the audio clip below:

Atlanta rapper Lil Scrappy‘s mama is not a happy camper. And it has everything to do with Diamond (Scrappy’s now ex fiancee) dumping her son for another ATL rapper …. SOULJA BOY!!!

Upon learning that Diamond, former member of rap group Crime Mob, was hooking up with Soulja Boy, Scrappy’s mama (aka Mama D) went in on Diamond live on the radio in Atlanta this week. Calling her a “dirty low down b*tch,” Mama D was not pulling any punches when she let Hot 107.9 know how she felt about Diamond.

“Okay, the b***h done got breast implants and booty shots, the b*tch ain’t real first of all,” Mama D said. “Secondly, Soulja boy is gonna come behind him anyway. So at the end of the day Scrappy is chilling, he’s fine, he’s the Prince of the South and he got it good.”

“She lied like a motherf**ker!” Mama D shouted on the radio. “Called Scrappy back, talking about I was just hanging out with him. Whooooooo! I want to put my hand around that b***h throat. I want you to go on the radio and say ‘Mama D is angry because you don’t mess with Mama D son.’ But you know what ladies and gentlemen? Her son is doing good. The Prince of the South is still the reigning prince because he’s chill like that, he’s gonna keep it pimpin’.”

“It’s f’d up how she did it … low down dirty b*tch,” she continued. “She’s lucky I don’t take [inaudible] and pimp her azz. She gonna give it up like that, she might as well get some money for it hoe. Scrappy, Mama D, we gonna keep it G, ya heard me? Let the radio know that Scrappy the Prince of the South is still the reigning Prince and he’s chilling on South Beach, okay, with a beautiful lady. He ain’t stunting that sh*t there, he’s all good.”

Ludacris (with the help of some of his celebrity friends) hosted his annual all star celebrity basketball game in conjunction with his LudaDay Weekend festivities over Labor Day Weekend in Atlanta.

Sunday (Sep 5) at the 5th Annual LudaDay Weekend Celebrity Basketball Tournament, held at Morehouse College’s Forbes Arena in Atlanta, Luda, Chris Brown, Chris Paul and Terrence J‘s team (with Larenz Tate as assistant coach) competed against Nelly, Polow Da Don and Sammie‘s team (coached by Teyana Taylor with Kenyon Martin as the assistant coach) with Luda’s team taking the win at the final buzzer.

Other celebs spotted at the 5th Annual LudaDay Weekend Celebrity Basketball Tournament were Kelly Rowland, Lance Gross, Keshia Knight Pulliam, Bow Wow, Ne-Yo. And at the end of the game, Luda’s non-profit (The Ludacris Foundation) was presented with a $25,000 donation from AirTran.

Tags Boutique in Atlanta threw R&B singer Kandi a birthday party recently. Some of the folks in attendance at the small get-together were Lloyd, Lil Scrappy, Toya and Kandi’s Atlanta Housewives cast mates Kim, Sheree, Lisa and newcomer Cynthia Bailey.

Meanwhile, Kandi is still working on her upcoming solo studio album and is also gearing up for the next season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, both due for release in the fall.

The 2009 BET Hip Hop Awards went down in Atlanta, GA Saturday (Oct 10). We hear Jay-Z and Young Jeezy opened the show in a big way with a surprise performance! Other tidbits from the show include the late DJ AM being the recipient of the “DJ of the Year” award, Kid & Play popping up during New Boyz‘ performance and Gucci Mane performing like 3 or 4 times. The show also featured performances from Soulja Boy, Ludacris, Jim Jones, Snoop Dogg and more.

The show, hosted by comedian Mike Epps, airs on BET on Tuesday, October 27th at 8/7c and we hear it was actually the best out of the few that have gone on over the past few years.

Rappers Ludacris and Shawnna were spotted at Luckie Food Lounge in Atlanta Wednesday night (Aug 12) on the set of their new music video for the debut single from their upcoming Battle of the Sexes album, due in stores later this year. The disc will be the first ever hip-hop album from both a male and female perspective.

Comedian Lil Duval also hit up the set of the video. He knows he’s a damn fool for that wig! LMAO … are you following him on Twitter? If you’re not, you’re missing out on some hilarious daily commentary!

T.I., Young Jeezy, Lil Scrappy, and Ludacris (photographed from L to R above) were just a few of the names who took the stage Sunday night at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, and according to our boy Freddy O, “everybody that was anybody was in the building!” Other rappers who took the stage were Rick Ross and Shawty Lo.

T.I., brought out by Young Jeezy, was actually a surprise guest and wasn’t originally included in the line-up. Freddy said fans at the show were a little confused since T.I. was supposed to head to prison a couple of weeks back, but a quick Google search will let them know that ol’ Clifford has until May 6th to turn himself in. Ain’t the inna-net grate?!

RICK ROSS WAS A CORRECTIONS OFFICER BACK IN THE DAY » Over the past couple of days, rumors began to spread about rapper Rick Ross‘ past employment as a corrections officer in Dade County, FL, and it all started with a comment made by fellow Miami rapper Trick Daddy. Of course, in true hip-hop fashion, Ricky Ross denied the allegations stating that his life was “100% real,” and accused his “haters” of photoshopping his face onto someone else’s body. Well, it turns out, Mr. Ross (real name: William Roberts) was indeed a corrections officer, according to official reports leaked by TheSmokingGun.com. Way to go, Ricky! Or should I say, Willy…

The site matched the rapper’s Social Security number with that of William Roberts who graduated from the Florida Department of Corrections (DoC) training academy and was assigned to Dade County’s South Florida Reception Center in December of 1995. He was 19 years old at the time. He left the job in 1997.

He left the job 2 years later, and about 9 years later, became the rapper we all know as Rick Ross. Wow, what a life history!

LIL SCRAPPY RELEASED ON $1500 BOND » After spending close to 48 hours in prison, Lil Scrappy has been released from prison on $1500 bond. The Atlanta rapper was thrown into jail after attempting to save his sister from her abusive boyfriend. Scrappy and the boyfriend got into a fight, which resulted in the rapper suffering non-threatening stab wounds.

Police found marijuana, $8,000 in cash, and a gun in his car, which resulted in him being charged with felony use of a weapon and a possession charge. His sister’s boyfriend was not charged, and still has not been arrested.

DMX ARRESTED FOR USING A FAKE NAME » DMX was arrested … again … over the weekend. This fool just can’t stay out of jaill, can he?! The rapper was arrested sometime this past Saturday in a Phoenix mall, due to an alleged incident at the Scottsdale Mayo clinic in April where the rapper was being treated for an illness. He apparently used a fake name – “Troy Jones” – so that he could escape those medical bills.

On June 23rd, DMX was arrested in Miami for not having a valid driver’s license. On the 27th, police arrested the rapper in Miami for allegedly attempting to purchase cocaine and marijuana. And a few days later on July 2nd, he was arrested at the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport for missing a mandatory court date. This most recent arrest (July 19th) would make the 4th time in the past month, that the rapper has been arrested. But this time, so far, he hasn’t been released.

“He’s back in jail again,” Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio told the Associated Press. “I don’t know why judges keep letting this guy out. Every time he goes in there, he gets out on bond. I’m hoping this is the one time he’s going to pay the penalty for his offense.”

According to Necole Bitchie, following a brief altercation late last night, rapper Lil’ Scrappy was stabbed and subsequently arrested by the police, and is currently being held in Dekalb Country jail. Word is the Atlanta rapper was responding to an emergency call from his sister, who was being attacked by her boyfriend. And when he rushed to her house to confront the guy, they got into a scuffle, which ended up in him being stabbed in the arm. When police arrived, they found along with $8,000 in cash, a .38 Caliber and 2 lbs. of marijuana. Scrappy is said to be in stable current condition and is currently being held on $1500 bond with the following charges: felony firearm/knife possession, felony marijuana possession, misdemeanor battery, and misdemeanor obstruction of officers.

See what you get for trying to help your sister? I hope they arrested her boyfriend too. I’ll have more info as this story develops…
