Pop and R&B singer/songwriter Leona Lewis kicked off her first solo tour last week at Sheffield Arena in the UK and here are a few pics of her performing at the Liverpool Echo Arena Monday night (May 31).

The UK singer says she was really embarrassed recently when she accidentally flashed her underwear. She says some wind machines were blowing during a performance and somehow the wind got under her dress and her “knickers” were briefly exposed:

“I was singing in front of some wind machines when my dress just blew up! I was only wearing a little pair of knickers, so it was really embarrassing. The wind machines were meant to be blowing my hair, so how did it get up my dress? I was like, ‘Are you doing that on purpose?’ … Everyone pretended they didn’t see, but I know they did.”

But just because she was embarrassed a little about flashing her undies to the crowd don’t assume the “Bleeding Love” singer is a prude. She admits she finds skinny dipping “liberating.” She says she and her friends once stripped butt nekkid and jumped in a swimming pool while on vacation in Portugal:

“I was with some girlfriends in Portugal. One of my friends was going through a hard time with her boyfriend, so we thought let’s do something crazy. It was liberating.”

Pop singer Christina Aguilera is hitting the road with UK singer Leona Lewis this summer! Christina and Leona recently announced plans to tour North America and the rest of the world beginning on July 15th in Connecticut. The tour, produced by Live Nation, will include 20 dates across North America and an unknown number of dates, which will be announced soon, in other continents, including Europe, Asia and Australia.

Aguilera recently spoke to MTV News about the tour, saying that she planned on taking the show all around the world. “It’ll be a world tour. We start in the U.S., then off to Europe, resulting in Asia/Australia, which is usually how they go for me,” she revealed. “It’ll probably take about a year to get through that cycle.” Without giving away too many details, she added, “It’ll be a fun, fun tour; again with the look and feel of Bionic.”

Wearing a black, winged Stella McCartney dress, former X Factor winner Leona Lewis walked the red carpet at a party hosted by the Spanish edition of Harper’s Bazaar magazine at the Casino de Madrid Wednesday night (Feb 17) in Madrid, Spain.

Leona was nominated in the “Best Female Solo Artist” category for the 2010 Brit Awards, held just the night before in London, but she lost the award to singer Lily Allen.

But despite missing out, the singer earlier told MailOnline on the red carpet that she wasn’t hopeful of winning anyway. She said: “I’m excited and really looking forward to seeing Jay-Z. I’m up against some really strong girls and I can’t call who is going to win. The other girls are amazing and we are all deserving.”

Here is “I See You,” Leona Lewis‘ brand new music video for her new single, which is the theme for the new movie “Avatar,” due to hit theaters nationwide this Friday (Dec. 18).

This song will be player during the closing credits of the highly anticipated blockbuster movie and comes from the same group of people who produced Celine Dion‘s “My Heart Will Go On” from the classic movie “Titanic.”

Producer Ryan Tedder has come out to clarify the rumors that circulated Beyonce‘s hit song “Halo.” Many blogs claimed that after Beyonce heard the song, which was originally written for Leona Lewis, she demanded to record it and eventually, the song went to her. Tedder is saying that this is not the case and that the song was originally penned for Beyonce.

“There was this huge scandal that originally ‘Halo’ was meant to go to Leona. That was never the case,” he told Alex and Lucy on Key 103′s In:Demand.

“I’m putting that rumor to bed right now. That song was written for Beyonce. What happened was that Beyonce waited long enough to record that song that I had no communication with her and didn’t know if she was going to do it or not.”

“I thought this would be a brilliant first single for Leona, which it would have. When you have a song as special as ‘Halo’, you don’t want anyone else to sit on it. So sometimes you have to pull the whole, ‘Well, I’m going to get someone else on it’, to prove a point.

“What i did was foolishly say to Leona’s camp, ‘I have it on hold for another A-list artist and I’m pretty sure they’ll take it, but if they don’t, I just want to know if you like it enough to consider it.’

‘I sent it to them and they flipped on it. They loved it and instantly said they wanted to do it. I was like, ‘Wait, wait, wait, no, it’s not free yet! It’s just in case.”

Well, there you have it. We guess that clears up one of the many allegations against Ms. Knowles.

Though Leona Lewis is not seeing the immediate success she hoped for with her sophomore album Echo, she may soon have something else, and much better in our opinion, to smile about. As the album drops to #41 on the charts, buzz about the singer receiving an Oscar nomination is growing.

Leona’s single “Happy” is featured in the film Precious and is being considered for a “Best Original Song” nomination. In addition, she recorded a song called “I See You” for the sci-fi movie Avatar and the track is also being considered for an Oscar nod.

“I’m just so proud of ["Happy"] cos I wrote it, and to be associated with a film like Precious, which is about trying to overcome troubles and trials in your life,” Leona, 24, said of the song. “I’m glad that someone got that message.”

British pop star Leona Lewis already has a reputation for being a good girl, but now she says she’s not only a good girl … she’s a “good diva.” And she’s not going around spending unnecessary money unlike her celebrity counterparts.

“The term ‘diva’ has such a negative connotation, but I see myself as a kind of good diva. I’m a next-door diva,” she said in the latest issue of Petra magazine.

Leona says she doesn’t make crazy demands and insists that she’s very frugal, unlike most pop stars in the industry. And her biggest purchases so far have been her house and her two cost-efficient environmentally friendly whips.

“The biggest things I’ve bought are a house and my two cars. One of the cars is a Mini Cooper. But in Los Angeles I always drive a Hybrid Toyota Prius which is very environmentally friendly.”

Wearing a long dark black dress, singer Leona Lewis performed her latest single “Happy” on stage last night (Thur Nov 5) at the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards, held at the O2 Arena in Berlin, Germany.

We love Leona and judging solely on vocals, she nailed it! But her performance was definitely forgettable because she just stood in one spot … the … entire … performance, which is really boring. We were hoping she would at least slowly walk down that big azz catwalk as the song progressed or something! It’s a good thing she’s VERY easy on the eyes and had all of those nice visual effects on the screen helping her out.

Leona’s sophomore album Echo is set to be released November 17th in the U.S. (Nov 16 in the U.K.) via J Records. Check out a video of her EMA performance after the cut…

Pop and R&B singer/songwriter Leona Lewis performed live on stage Monday night (Nov 2) in London, England at the Hackney Empire. She admits that she was terrified shortly before she hit the stage to perform at her first ever solo full length concert, but she says it went by so fast and she wants to do it more often by going on a world tour next year

“I wasn’t nervous until I got to the side of the stage, then I started shaking. I felt it went so fast and now I just want to do it again. I can’t wait to tour next year,” said Lewis. “I was so worried about falling over in front of the audience. I have never done anything like that before. I was so nervous,” she added.

LEONA LEWIS PERFORMS “HAPPY”

It seems everyone is suffering from leaks these days. Another track has surfaced from Leona Lewis‘ upcoming album Echo. The track is titled “Lost Then Found” and was produced by Ryan Tedder.

“Lost Then Found” is very nice and naturally, Leona sounds amazing on it, but it seems like these typical ballad songs are the only thing she’s good at. It’s nothing special and if you’ve heard one Leona track, you’ve heard them all. On the bright side, she is trying out new styles by having another vocalist on the track.

X-Factor Season 3 winner Leona Lewis was attacked by an unidentied young man at a book signing meet and greet session for her new book “Dreams” at Waterstone’s booksellers in Piccadilly earlier today (Oct 14)! Her publicist, Stuart Bell, released a statement shortly after confirming the incident:

“Leona was the victim of an unprovoked attack. The police were called immediately and medical attention has been sought. Leona is understandably shaken and apologizes to the fans she was unable to meet and complete signings.”

Lewis was posing for pictures and signing autographs Wednesday when a 29-year-old man came up and hit her. Security immediately reacted, escorted Leona to safety and arrested the jerk on the spot.

She was taken to see a doctor just to be on the safe side and can be seen in the picture above (L) leaving the signing in a shocked/shaken state. London’s Metropolitan police say the man was arrested on suspicion of assault and is currently being held in their custody.

UK crossover singer Leona Lewis teams with fellow singer Justin Timberlake in “Don’t Let Me Down,” a midtempo track which will reportedly be featured on the follow-up to her debut album, Spirit. VH1 is finally bringing back its famed “VH1 Divas” after a four-year hiatus. For its first broadcast, the network will have performances from Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis, and… Miley Cyrus.

Past Divas have included Aretha Franklin, Cher, Celine Dion and Mary J. Blige. The only difference is that these singers have been around for decades while this new set of singers have only been around for a few years. Kelly Clarkson has sold over 20 million albums since being the first ever American Idol while Leona Lewis climbed to fame after winning the British reality competition The X Factor. British soul singer Adele won two Grammys earlier this year for Best New Artist and Best Vocal Performance for her single “Chasing Pavements,” While Miley Cyrus is best known for her role on the Disney Channel as Hannah Montana and has scored three chart topping albums with the Hannah Montana soundtracks.

There is seriously something wrong with this picture. Kelly Clarkson is understandable and we would even turn a blind eye to Leona. Adele is a wonderful artist but she hasn’t been around long enough. But Miley Cyrus? What happened to artists like Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Brandy, Monica, Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys … the list goes on. Do you think Miley deserves this honor and will you be watching the concert on September 17th?

Rapper Mims just released his sophomore album Guilt this past Tuesday and above he can be seen at his album release party Tuesday night at Citrine in New York. Looks like the poor guy was the only one in attendance.

Actress Anika Noni Rose attended the 36th annual Whitney M. Young, Jr. Awards dinner, held last night at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel Thursday night in Los Angeles. Anika will deliver the voice for Disney’s first animated Black princess (Princess Tiana) in their new movie, The Princess and the Frog, set to be release later this year.
