The 9th Annual Ford Hoodie Awards went down over the weekend (Sat. Aug 13) at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Hosted by Steve Harvey, the 2011 Hoodie Awards featured appearances from R&B singer Letoya Luckett, actor/BET personality Terrence J, actor/comedian Kevin Hart, gospel singers Tye Tribbett, Marvin Sapp, & Kirk Franklin, actresses Tisha Campbell-Martin & Tichina Arnold, and many more. The show also featured performances by soul singers Jill Scott, Anthony Hamilton and Kem.

As hinted by its name, the Hoodie Awards — conceived and developed by Steve Harvey — celebrates the best of the “hood,” ordinary people doing extraordinary things. So instead of celebrities taking home trophies, its every day people that get their time to shine in the spotlight.

Here is the last batch of photos from this weekend’s 2009 Essence Music Festival, sponsored by Coca Cola and held in New Orleans, Louisiana at he Louisiana Superdome. The ladies of En Vogue reunited on the main stage Sunday night (Jul 5) at the Superdome, which also hosted a performance from legendary soul/gospel singer Al Green. Gospel singing group Mary Mary performed on stage Thursday evening at the 40th Annual GMA Dove Awards, which were held at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee.

The ladies of Mary Mary, who are a part of the judges panel on BET’s “Sunday Best,” received an award for Urban Recorded Song of the Year for their song “Get Up.”

Gospel singer/songwriter Kirk Franklin, who hosts BET’s “Sunday Best” presented an award along with actor Billy Baldwin. Kirk also grabbed the award for Urban Album of the Year for his 10th studio album “The Fight of My Life.”
