We wonder if Keri Hilson and her people (mainly Polow Da Don) had that whole “leaked diss track” thing planned to generate buzz for her new video release, which will in turn have people talking about her just in time to make pretty good numbers when her album debuts in 2 weeks (March 24th 2009). Anyway, here’s “Make Love,” a new promotional video for Keri’s debut album, In A Perfect World. The music video itself features Kanye West as Keri’s leading guy.

Keyshia Cole, Ciara & Keri Hilson

Keri Hilson has finally broken her silence and shut down those rumors that clogged the Internet saying that she was dissing Beyonce and Ciara in a leaked remix to “Turning Me On.” Click here to peep the song if you haven’t gotten a chance to already.

“I just want to tell Ciara it’s not about you,” the singer songwriter told Ciara in a live phone call. Hilson called Atlanta radio station V-103 to put the rumors to rest while Ciara and Polow Da Don were in the building. “People are just reading way too far into it. People take things and make it what they want it to be. It wasn’t taking shots at nobody.”

Ciara responded: “Cool… I guess everybody is here to listen to what Keri said and I take it for that. From my end, it’s always been nothing but love for you. I was very happy for you to get where you are.”

Hilson said: “I know that’s sincere. It is the same coming from me when I tell you that I’m proud of you. I’ve always meant that and I always do mean that. I’ve watched it from ground zero with you. I’m not jealous of anybody’s career. We are all like the same thing. Keyshia’s on my album. I’ve worked with Ciara many times. I’m a fan of Beyonce’s.”

Then who is the song about? “It’s anybody that ever tried to take me down and didn’t want to see me succeed,” explained Ms. Keri. “I’m not gonna call their names because I feel I’ve addressed it.”

So it looks like Keri Hilson is using the age-old formula of generating beef for press. Homegirl has an album coming out March 24th and she knows we’re in a recession … so we can see why she’s dissing Beyonce and Ciara in this new remix to her “Turning Me On” single, which features T-Pain and Lil’ Wayne. Peep a few of the lines where she’s allegedly dissing Bey & CiCi below.

FYI: Keri’s never written any tracks for Beyonce, but she has written for Ciara. Apparently Bey snubbed Keri though, which is why she’s a little hot and said, “you need to go have some babies, you need to sit down you fadin…” Her jab at Ciara is basically the last line, where she says “just check the credits ho … catch me in Decatur ho,” which is an obvious diss to someone living in the Atlanta area. She actually goes in on both of them when she says “you can dance, she can sing.” You can probably figure out yourself which one is which ;-)

Now I ain’t tryna start no mess, there’s just something on my chest that I need to get off ’cause you turning me off. Ya vision cloudy if you think that you the best, you can dance, she can sing, but need to move it…

You need to go have some babies, you need to sit down you fadin…

I ain’t turnin it off, I’m still turnin it on. Go on ‘head tell these folks how I been writing ya songs. I been puttin you on, just check the credits ho. And if you want me you can find me in Decatur ho…

Good strategy in theory, but Beyonce ain’t what you want Keri. CiCi … maybe. But Beyonce? Nah…

Ne-Yo // Grammy Career Day 2009 Mary Mary // Grammy Career Day 2009

R&B singers Ne-Yo and Keri Hilson, along with Gospel singing group Mary Mary and musical producing legend Jimmy Jam all attended Grammy Career Day 2009 in Los Angeles, CA. In preparation for this weekend’s Grammy Awards, the event was held at the University of Southern California campus and also featured appearances from Jesse McCartney and and music producing duo Stargate. All of the celebrities made up one big panel who spoke to students at USC.

A cheering audience of music career aspirants greeted panelists for the day’s first event: a Super Panel comprised of current Grammy nominee Ne-Yo, McCartney, Hilson, EMI Music Publishing president/West Coast Creative Big Jon Platt and The Recording Academy chairman/producer Jimmy Jam. Moderated by Recording Academy West regional director Lizzy Moore, the hour-long session touched on various subjects from songwriting and production to publishing. On the subject of songwriting, McCartney advised fledgling songwriters that “when you try to fit a certain genre or mold, you fail. Write what you know. That’s your template.” Cautioning that “your spot in this business is not etched in stone,” Ne-Yo recommended that students finish school and follow the “3 P’s” in their career endeavors: passion, persistence and patience. “It doesn’t matter how much money you make if you can’t count it,” he emphasized. “It’s also difficult to write a song if you can’t read or write. Being prepared and following the 3 P’s will get you where you’re trying to go.”
