The 33rd Annual UNCF Evening of Stars gala was held Sunday evening (Aug 14) in Pasadena, CA and featured red carpet appearances from Keke Palmer, Pooch Hall & Coby Bell from “The Game,” Lance Gross, Tatyana Ali, Musiq Soulchild, David Banner,  and many others.

“I am so excited to announce my next big project it’s a movie called Ragz, the script is fun and full of great music,” Keke said. “I loved the project so much that I wanted to be a producer on it as well, I even got to make suggestions on the script which influenced the music.”

16-year-old Keke Palmer is currently the star of Nickelodeon’s #2 show “True Jackson, VP” but when the deal for her own show was brought to the table, the young actress (who had already been in a few films) was hesitant to accept because she didn’t want big time movie producers to just see her as a TV actress. But she says she’s glad she took the once in a lifetime opportunity because it’s opening even more doors for her career!

“I didn’t want to make it seem like I was less serious about movies, but I’m about to do an album with Interscope and my parents thought it would be good to broaden my audience with kids. I am now so glad I did it,” she tells Variety. “Execs watch the show with their kids and think of me for projects. They see I have a big fanbase, and it opens doors.”

In addition to her show, which is second to Miranda Cosgrove‘s “iCarly,” Keke has starred in big movies like “Akeelah and the Bee” and Tyler Perry’s “Madea’s Family Reunion.” The teenage star is also an aspiring singer and is on the verge of releasing her first studio album (via her deal with Interscope Records). She premiered her song “Top of the World” during the 83rd Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade this year.

Nickelodeon star Keke Palmer attended the 25th Annual Artios Awards, sponsored by the Casting Society of America, Monday night (Nov 2) at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Century City, California.

The 16-year-old actress was a presenter at the event, which honored select members in over eighteen different theatrical casting categories.

November is proving to be a pretty big month for the teen actress already and we’re only 4 days in. According to Black Celebrity Kids, she’ll put her vocal talent to work with a performance this Thanksgiving at the big Macy’s Thanksigiving Day Parade on November 26th.

“I am so excited about this performance , I will be debuting a song I co-wrote called , Top Of The World, so please if you are in the New York area come and check me out in person, and if not please tune in.”

And just 5 days prior to that her new one-hour True Jackson, VP movie “Flirting With Fame” will air at 8:30 PM ET/PT on Nickelodeon.

In the one-hour movie “Flirting with Fame,” True’s (Palmer) crushing on a new boy at school named Justin (Williams), but when she finally gets the courage to ask him out, he turns her down. True and Lulu (Ashley Argota) suspect he’s dating someone until True discovers his big secret. In an attempt to show True his romantic side, Justin enlists the help of superstar Natasha Bedingfield to perform “These Words” for the duo.

It was announced a couple of weeks ago that Nickelodeon had ordered a second season of the hit live-action comedy series “True Jackson, VP,” which currently ranks as the number two show for kids and tweens on Saturday night. Nickelodeon’s Executive Vice President Marjorie Cohn announced the news about the series, which stars multi-talented actress Keke Palmer as 15-year old True Jackson. True Jackson is the vice president of the youth division of a major fashion label.

“Keke Palmer is an extraordinarily talented actress who is both relatable and aspirational to her viewers,” said Cohn. “Her star quality, coupled with a dynamic cast and funny, compelling storytelling, has been a winning combination. We are thrilled to be bringing this successful series back for a second season.”

During its premiere, True Jackson, VP bowed with the network’s largest audience ever of kids 6-11, tweens and total viewers for a live-action series debut. Keke Palmer has been named the “#8 Most Valuable Young Star In Hollywood”, according to Forbes Magazine. 15-year-old Palmer was the only Black Teen Actress named on the list, which included teen actors Daniel Radcliff, Miley Cyrus, Dakota Fanning, Abigail Breslin, Hayden Panettiere, Emma Watson, Freddie Highmore, Emma Roberts and Anton Yelchin.

Keke Palmer has also signed on to star and produce the feature film, Oreo, a script adapted by writer Adam Davenport from a book written by author Fran Ross, with the same title. Palmer and her parents have been working closely with the writer for over three years to develop this material and feel strongly that the timing is right to make this movie.

Oreo is the story of a teen who refuses to be pushed around despite unfortunate circumstances. Her parents divorce when she is very young and neither of them want to take custody of her, or her little brother, who is an infant. This sounds like it’s shaping up to be a sad drama, but no way, Oreo takes matters into her own hands embarking on a cross-country journey to find her parents and hold them accountable for their mess.

“From the very first time I read Oreo I totally loved the main character because she does not sit around crying about the problems in her life she takes action! She is angry with her parents for not taking responsibility for their children, most kids would just be quiet and suffer in silence, but no she does not bite her tongue she gives it to them straight and I just loved her spirit and over all approach to things , this is an adventure/ comedy because a lot of funny things happen to her on the road that are hilarious so that was a plus for me too. I am so happy to be a part of this project.”

The Palmer’s and Mr. Davenport are meeting with several studios trying to find the perfect fit for this “quirky” material and hope to go into production by Fall of 2009, or early 2010.
