Katy Perry was “Wide Awake” Sunday night (May 20) as the Pop singer performed her new single Cirque du Soleil-style at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas.

“Russell who?” is exactly what recently divorced Katy Perry was probably asking herself while she made out with her new boyfriend, Florence + the Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd over the weekend at the Coachella Festival.

Eyewitnesses say the new couple couldn’t keep their hands off each other, and made no attempt to attempt to hide their lust for one another as they put on a show of PDA for the Coachella crowd.

The 27-year-old “Part of Me” singer rocked a pair of high-waisted shorts with a matching sheer blouse, while Ackroyd wore a white tee and jeans. When they weren’t kissing or making googly eyes at each other, Perry and Ackroyd either held hands or held each other in a close embrace.

Rihanna sure does know how to party, and the Pop singer looked like she was having the time of her life while enjoying (and partaking in) the 2012 Coachella Festival in California this past weekend.

During Day 3 of the weekend-long concert festival in Indio, CA, Rihanna surprised fans when she hit the stage with DJ Calvin Harris and the two performed their “We Found Love” single.

Rihanna also performed her latest single “Where Have You Been,” and she spotted her BFF Katy Perry in the crowd and went crazy with her and a group of fans in the audience.

Right before that, a purple-haired Katy Perry stag dived into the crowd and crowd-surfed across the audience as Rihanna and Calvin Harris were performing.

Later in the night, Rihanna was spotted rolling up a blunt in the crowd before hopping on top of her bodyguard’s shoulders to take in the rest of Calvin Harris’ concert set as she puffed on her “cigarette.”

Katy Perry took to the stage Sunday night (Feb 12) at the Grammy Awards and performed her hit single “E.T.” and also debuted her new song “Part of Me,” marking the Pop singer’s first televised performance since her high profile marriage fell apart.

The lyrics to “Part of Me” has many thinking that the song is a not so subtle dig at Perry’s estranged husband Russell Brand.

“Days like this I want to drive away…You chewed me up, and spit me out, like I was poison in your mouth…But that was then, and this is now. Now look at me, this is the part of me that you’re never ever going to take away from me,” Katy sings in the song.

The lyrics to the song continues, “Now look at me, I’m sparking/A firework, a dancing flame/You won’t ever put me out again. So you can keep the diamond ring. It don’t mean nothing anyway/In fact you can keep everything/Except for me.”

“Part of Me,” which was officially released on iTunes today, comes from the special edition of Katy Perry’s double-platinum certified album “Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection.”

Now that Russell Brand and Katy Perry are officially getting a divorce, “friends” of the couple are coming out of the woodwork and have juicy stories to share with the tabloids.

Like how Russell hurt Katy’s feeling when he told her that her recent hosting stint on Saturday Night Live “wasn’t that funny.” (Ouch!)

And not only that, but he also quickly turned down a request from Katy to appear with her on the show and didn’t even fly to New York to watch her.

“There were so many times when he wasn’t there,” an insider says of Brand, 36, who blindsided Perry, 27, by filing for divorce Dec. 30 without consulting her.

Weeks before, when the “Firework” singer guest-hosted Saturday Night Live, the British comic turned down Perry’s plea to perform in a skit with him, remaining in L.A. instead. And after Perry had pulled off her SNL stint?

And when the Arthur star did show up to support his wife, as he did at Perry’s final concert stop in November, “He was totally uninterested and seemed annoyed he was there,” says a witness. “I don’t think he sat through one song.”

Russell Brand has filed for divorce from Katy Perry, his wife of a little over one year. In the documents (obtained by TMZ), Brand cites “irreconcilable differences.”

The reason all of this isn’t a total shocker is because sources close to the couple recently revealed that they were having problems, and spent Christmas on two totally different sides of the world.

Katy spent her Christmas in Hawaii with “friends” and family, while Russell spent his Holiday in London with his own “friends” and family.

Russell was also spotted out in London without his wedding ring both today AND yesterday.

Earlier today, TMZ, citing “multiple sources,” had reported that the couple had no plans to divorce, however, they were told that the newlyweds were having problems, but it had nothing to do with reports of a “big, blowout argument” because apparently, no such argument ever occurred.

But it looks like things have changed, and Russell is said to have totally blindsided Katy by filing the divorce petition.

He released the following statement just moments ago:

“Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.”

Earlier this month, Brand had appeared on “Ellen” and spoke on the divorce rumors that were surrounding him and his wife at the time:

“I’m really happily married … I’m married to Katy. Perpetually, until death do us part was the pledge. I’m still alive.”

Sounds like someone had a change of heart.

And another one bites the dust…

Katy spent her Christmas in Hawaii with friends and family, while Russell spent his all the way on the other side of the world in London with his own friends and family.

Perry was spotted in the ocean in Hawaii on Christmas Day, but her husband, or even her wedding ring for that matter, were nowhere in sight.

Granted, the singer could have taken the ring off to protect it from getting swept away at sea, but still … the question remains.

Why would you spend a family-oriented holiday like Christmas without your significant other … on purpose?

According to an inside source, the huge distance was due to a very heated argument the couple had just before Christmas that ended in an explosive exchange of “f**k yous.”

“They had a massive fight,” the insider said.. “She was like, ‘F**k you. I’m going to do my own thing.’ Russell replied, ‘Fine, f**k you too.”

“They haven’t split up just yet, but things are not good. The fighting is getting worse. Katy doesn’t think Russell respects her parents’ Christian beliefs or her friends. The split may come soon, but they are both so dramatic and volatile, the relationship could become great again,” the anonymous source explained.

Guess we’ll just have to wait and see where it goes from here!

Katy Perry kept things simple as she, dressed in all pink (including her hair and guitar!), took to the stage at the 2011 AMAs last night (Sun Nov 20) in Los Angeles and performed an acoustic version of her latest single “The One That Got Away.”

At the end of her performance, the Pop star was met with a standing ovation, and was also presented with a special award of achievement for scoring five #1 singles from her latest album “Teenage Dream” on Billboard’s Hot 100, an accomplishment only equal to Michael Jackson and his 1987 “Bad” album.

The 2011 MTV Europe Awards were held Sunday night (Nov 6) in Belfast, North Ireland.

The show, which was hosted by singer/actress Selena Gomez, is held annually to highlight European music, and also draws A-List stars from the United States. This year’s show featured appearances and performances from Gomez’s boyfriend Justin Bieber, Taio Cruz, David Guetta, Bruno Mars, Ludacris, LMFAO, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and more.

As far as the actual awards were concerned, Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga picked up the most trophies, including best male and best female act. Gaga also won awards for best song and best video for her hit single “Born This Way,” while Bieber picked up the award for best Pop act.

Other awards went to Bruno Mars, Eminem, Katy Perry and British rock band Queen, who received the “Global Icon” lifetime achievement award.

Even though her parents may think she is headed straight to hell … Katy Perry is still making big moves. The Pop star, dressed in a Hersey Kiss bra, is featured on the cover of the Summer Special issue of Rolling Stone Magazine, where she talks about being embarrassed by her big boobs as a teenager (she even taped them down to hide them) and more.

On her political awakening and wanting a “revolutionary change” in the world:
“It just feels like the thing running our country is a bank, money. I know it sounds like an intense viewpoint, but I’m only slowly but surely getting the wool taken off my eyes. When I was a kid, I asked questions about my faith. Now I’m asking questions about the world. I think we are largely in desperate need of revolutionary change in the way our mindset is. Our priority is fame, and people’s wellness is way low. I saw this knowing full well that I’m a part of the problem. I’m playing the game, though I am trying to reroute. Anyway, not to get all politically divulging and introspective, but the fact that America doesn’t have free health care drives me fucking absolutely crazy, and is so wrong.”

On reacting to bad reviews from critics:
“Whenever people ask me about having bad reviews, I’m like, ‘Have you seen the run I’ve had? Have you seen the numbers?’ Numbers do not lie!”

On recognizing the limits of pop music:
“I’m not a dummy. I know ‘California Gurls’ isn’t going to save the world. But I got a lot of heart from my upbringing and I put a lot of heart in my songs.”

On being embarassed by her big boobs as a teenager:
“I started praying for [breasts] when I was, like, 11,” she says. “And God answered that prayer above and beyond, by, like, 100 times, until I was like, ‘Please, stop, God. I can’t see my feet anymore. Please stop!’ I was a lot more rectangular then. I didn’t understand my body. Someone in sixth grade called me ‘Over-the-shoulder boulder holder.’ I didn’t know I could use them. So, what I did was, I started taping them down. How long did I tape them down for? Probably until I was about 19. And, no, I don’t have any psychological pain because of it.”

On her obsession with “Ancient Aliens:”
“Oh my God,” she says. “When it talks about the sky people , how everyone comes from the sky and how the Pyramids were used for star observations, it’s too much for me. It all seems to connect the dots. It’s blowing my mind.”

Before Katy Perry became an international pop star she was merely the quiet daughter of two Christian pastors.

Turns out, Katy’s mom, Mary Hudson, liked her better that way. Katy’s dad, Keith Hudson, recently revealed to Star Magazine there’s “quite a bit of tension” in the family right now because of Mary’s upcoming memoir, which deals in part with Katy’s superstar success.

In one passage, Mary laments Katy’s provocative wardrobe. “Katy stepped out from behind the changing doors in a tiny risque costume. No mother wants to see the top of her daughter’s boobs…” Mary says.

Both Katy’s parents are evangelical Christian ministers, something Katy has both celebrated and complained about in past interviews. She once poked fun at her mom for not letting her watch the “Smurfs” as a kid (Smurfette was too “slutty”) after she was cast as Smurfette in the upcoming live action movie.

Katy said at the time, “It’s just like another one of those days where it’s like, ‘Guess what, Mom: I kissed a girl! Guess what, Mom: I’m going to be naked in a music video!’”

Perhaps your wondering about the sexually driven “Kissed a Girl.” Mary addresses her mixed feelings about Katy’s first hit song, too.

“I recognized the psalmist gift in her performance. Yet she sang out, ‘I kissed a girl, and I liked it,’ while thousands joined her,” Katy’s mom writes. “One part of my heart soared… the other part broke for the thousands of hungry souls being fed something that didn’t nourish their spirit, but fed their flesh.”

Still, Mary insists her new memoir is about her Christian faith, and “not some kind of tell all book about my daughter.”

Yeah …. right.

“Teenage Dream” pop star Katy Perry has been saying all kinds of nice things about her collaborator Kanye West, who appears on Perry’s now #1 single hit “E.T.” In a recent interview with MTV News, Perry said of West:

“I always felt like I wanted someone to give this song just another dimension. And it’s like he’s one of the greatest, to me, one of the greatest MCs of our generation and I think we will look back in time at Kanye and recognize, even though he may be multi-dimensioned in so many different ways, that it’s hard to understand it and grasp our mainstream minds around it.”

She went on further to flatter Kanye by saying:

“I think we’ll look back and we’ll be like there’s a guy who always tried and strived to give us a beautiful piece of artwork. He doesn’t care about any of the haters and he just really approaches things with a beautiful kind of innocence. We sat down and talked when he showed up to the music video set and he’s just so enthusiastic about music and art and visuals and making his tour into the best tour that anybody’s ever seen. He’s really always pushing himself and I admire that.”

So is there any chance that the international pop sensation would let the “All of The Lights” rapper produce material for her albums?

“Why not? That’s where he comes from. He’s got like a bajillion Grammys for producing records and writing songs. That’s where he started and I admire his work, whether it’s with Jay-Z or with Rihanna or with Nicki Minaj. I like all the different angles and approaches. I mean, he brought Bon Iver and La Roux—just like the strangest—not the strangest, but you wouldn’t expect it and then put them on a song. He’s got some wild style.”

Kanye is, indeed, definitely one of the greatest. Who else agrees with Katy Perry?

New York City has been infested with Smurfs! Well … at least that’s the idea behind the upcoming 3D movie starring the little blue creatures, due in theaters this summer.

“The Smurfs” features the voices of Katy Perry as Smurfette, Jonathan Winters as Papa Smurf, Paul Reubens as Jokey Smurf, George Lopez as Grouch Smurf and Fred Armisen as Brainy Smurf, and is set to hit theaters on August 3rd.

Katy Perry slowed things down with her “Not Like the Movies” performance last night (Sun. Feb 13) at the 2011 Grammy Awards.

As KP sang the lyrics to her ballad in a swing, images of she and her husband Russell Brand‘s wedding showed up on the screen behind her. The footage showed Katy and Russell as they exchanged vows, and ended with Russell lifting Katy’s veil to share their first kiss as a married couple.

Then, Katy was lowered from her swing and up next was a performance of her Pop hit “Teenage Dream,” which she dedicated to all of the Valentines in the audience.

Katy Perry tones down her usually eccentric look for the cover of the March 2011 issue of Elle Magazine. Inside the issue, the singer talks about having kids with hubby Russell Brand, wanting to look like supermodel Kate Moss, wanting to be the type of “diva” Beyonce is and more.

On performing: “I think some people will die on the stage, and I’m not so sure I want to do that. Like, I want to have kids! I’m totally fine with saying that. I think some people are scared because they’re worried it’s going to ruin their career, but I want to live a full life.”

On how her career has panned out: “I feel like I’m at a point in my life right now where I could potentially stick around. I don’t feel like a diva, but I think diva is a great and powerful word in the sense of what Beyonce makes it. And maybe I can’t be Beyonce, but maybe I can be Cyndi Lauper. I mean be like her, not be her. That would just be weird.”

On whether she’s had any reservations about presenting a provocative image: “We’re past that. I’m a sexy girl, so what? I never claimed I was a nun!”

On her much talked about figure: “I was shaped like a square at one time. I was! I’m generally around 130 pounds, which is totally fine for me. But when I was a kid, I was the same height and weighed more like 145. And I had enormous boobs that I didn’t know what to do with, so I wore minimizers, which were not cute. Those thick-ass straps! I got made fun of for the over-the-shoulder boulder holder…and all I wanted was to look like Kate Moss. Little did I know…that these things would come in handy someday.”

On her relationship with husband, Russell Brand: “Everything clicked really fast. We kind of instantly got past all the surfacey stuff. And ever since then, there hasn’t been a dull moment.”

On how their relationship works: “We both needed balance, and we give that to each other. It wasn’t about me taming him, which is what everyone always says—it was about timing.”

On balancing work and her personal life: “I think you can have it all. You just have to work really hard, because great things don’t come easily. Everyone’s been told that marriage is hard work, and it is: You have to make time for the things you love.”

Meanwhile, he Pop singer has made a promise to her adoring fans: that her upcoming tour will be “sweet” and “shocking” … but not in a sexual way, of course. The “Firework” singer is scheduled to perform 95 shows all over the world in her upcoming “California Dreams” Tour, and hopes to “raise the bar” with her performances.

“Touring is no longer an ordinary thing where you play an instrument in jeans and a T-shirt. I really want to raise the bar. It has some pizzazz these days, and I’m definitely bringing the pizzazz with a lot of bells and whistles. The show has a Broadway feel to it. It’s got a storyline that’s going to be very interesting, kind of loosely based on my life, but a cartoon version. I have this whole thing in my show that is about candy and cupcakes and meat. It’s both really sweet and shocking, but not in a sexual way.”

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Perry admitted that one thing she hates is how she never has time to actually enjoy her stay in foreign countries, due to her hectic touring schedule. But that will all change this time around, the singer says.

“This time around when people ask ‘how was Barcelona?’ I’m not gonna be stupid and be like, ‘Uh, your room service is great.’ That was really annoying the first time. Before, I’d go to these magical places and literally just have time to taste the room service.”

KP’s “California Dreams” World Tour kicks off in Portugal on February 20th and will wrap up in Ireland on November 2nd. The North American leg of the tour (CLICK HERE FOR THE DATES) begins its journey in Atlanta, GA on June 7th and ends with two dates in her hometown of Santa Barbara, CA on August 13th and 14th.

Katy Perry is hitting the road!

The “California Gurls” singer announced via Facebook (and later Twitter) that she is all set to kick off her 40-date “California Dreams” World Tour. The North American leg of the tour begins its journey in Atlanta on June 7th, and Katy will make stops in Orlando, New York, New Jersey, Toronto, Dallas, and Los Angeles before wrapping up with two dates in her hometown of Santa Barbara, CA in August.

“It’s an edible-looking tour with meat and candy,” she said. “It’ll look like a smorgasbord of them.”

Perry also said that she will be hiring Mark Ryden and Will Cotton, the artists who created the artwork for her Teenage Dream album, to help her create the look of the fantasy world tour.

Are you looking forward to Katy Perry’s new tour?

It’s that time of the year again. The 2011 Grammy Awards will be here before you know it (in less than a month to be exact), and among the performers announced were Eminem, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Cee-Lo Green, who are ALL nominated for at least 1 Grammy Award each.

Eminem leads all nominees with 10 nominations, while Lady Gaga has 6 and Green and Perry each have 4. Additional performers, presenters and special segments will be announced soon, according to the official Grammy Awards website.

The 2011 Grammy Awards are set to take place live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 13th, and will air on CBS at 8 pm.
