Jay-Z shot the music video for his new single, “Run This Town,” which features fellow rapper Kanye West and singer Rihanna. The three of them can be seen on the set of the upcoming vid in the pic above. The video, directed by Anthony Mandler, was filmed in New York City and will be dropping very soon. And judging by these pics, the video is gonna be amazing! Or at least we hope…

Rapper Kanye West took the stage Wednesday night (Aug 5) and performed at Casio’s G-Shock “Shock the World” event at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. The company, celebrating 26 years in the timepiece business, unveiled its new collection of watches before treating the crowd with an exclusive performance from Mr. West. His girlfriend Amber Rose can be seen in the audience supporting her man in the pics below.

Rapper Kanye West surprised the audience and performed on stage with fellow rappers Malice and Pusha T of the Clipse during the Diesel U Music 2009 NYC Tour at Webster Hall last Thursday (Jul 30) in New York City.

In related news, Kanye and Eminem are both nominated in the same four categories for the upcoming 2009 MTV VMAs: Video of the Year, Best Male Video, Best Hip Hop Video and Best Special Effects. It’ll be interesting to see who takes what September 13th when the VMAs air live from Radio City Hall in NYC.

We’re not sure if you caught the “update” to our original story of Kanye West supposedly campaigning to be the new King of Pop, but it turns out the whole thing was fake and if you notice, the website we sourced the story to has a disclaimer at the bottom basically saying you should take everything posted on the site with a grain a salt. And in true Kanye fashion, the Chicago bred rapper himself has responded to the bogus story with a message all in caps on his personal blog:

I WAS JUST LISTENING TO WENDY WILLIAMS AND HEARD SOME QUOTE ABOUT ME SAYING I’M THE NEW KING OF POP. NOT ONLY DID I NOT SAY THAT, I HAVEN’T SAID ANYTHING. IT MAKES ME FEEL BAD THAT OBVIOUSLY I MADE PEOPLE FEEL THAT I WOULD BE CORNY ENOUGH TO SAY SOMETHING SO WHACK AFTER THE PASSING OF AN IDOL, A LEGEND AND MORE THAN THAT A HUMAN BEING WITH FEELINGS AND FAMILY. IT SCARES ME TO THINK WHAT PEOPLE WILL BELIEVE, WITHOUT EVEN A SOURCE. ANY RANDOM PERSON CAN TYPE SOMETHING ON THE INTERNET AND THEN THE WORLD BELIEVES IT. I DON’T TALK TO PRESS OR DO TV OR DO PROMOTIONS OF ANY SORT. I’VE STOPPED CHASING AND BUYING INTO FAME. FAME IS LIKE CIGARETTES WITH NO SURGEON GENERAL WARNING. Now, we’re not going to lie. That satire website had us fooled for a minute, but we still didn’t put it past Kanye to come up with something that crazy and outlandish. C’mon now, it’s KANYE we’re talking about here! But we’re glad to know dude hasn’t completely lost his mind. With this recent (and last) explanation, we’ll be sure to give our boy the benefit of the doubt in future cases.

Popular financial gurus Forbes has released yet another list. Their previous list featured Beyonce perched at the top, earning a staggering $87 million in one 12-month period. And now her husband, rapper Jay-Z, is sitting at the top of the “Hip-Hop Cash Kings List,” earning an estimated $35 million over the past 12 months. A far cry from the $82 million he pulled in last year, but still pretty damn good, especially in a recession.
