Muhammad Ali & Michael Phelps // 15th Annual Celebrity Fight Night Keisha & Forest Whitaker // 15th Annual Celebrity Fight Night

Olympic champion swimmer Michael Phelps was honored to receive the Sports Achievement Award at former champion boxer’s Muhammad Ali’s Celebrity Fight Night event, where Oscar winner actor Forest Whitaker also received the Celebrity Fight Night Entertainer Award.

The Celebrity Fight Night Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded in 1994 by Jimmy Walker. It supports the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, as well as numerous other charities.

This year’s event marked the 15th year, and with a celebrity guest list including Jordin Sparks (who also performed), Kurt Warner, John Elway, Hill Harper and more, organizers say it raised more than 6.6 million dollars! Continue reading for more pics.

R&B singer Alicia Keys attended the National Black Theatre’s Communication Arts Program Symposium Friday in New York City. In other Alicia news, she recently announced that despite her talented musical background, she had to learn how to play the cello for her role in The Secret Life of Bees, on DVD March 31st. She added that even though she stopped practicing after filming wrapped, she does have plans on pursuing the instrument in the future.

“I had to work hard at it and I was constantly practicing, constantly learning and re-learning the proper way to play. It takes a year or so just to learn how to hold the bow properly and use it the right way, so just making it feel effortless and look effortless was a challenge. It had to look as if I’d been playing for 15 or 20 years. That took a lot of practice - but I’m used to discipline and practice … I didn’t play after finishing the film but I do want to rediscover it and I will probably start again from the beginning and learn properly,” said the star.”

Jonas Brothers & Jordin Sparks TourThe Jonas Brothers have announced a world tour, which will begin this summer in Dallas, TX and will last throughout August 2009 with the final North American show ending August 31, 2009. Overseas tour dates haven’t been announced yet. The show will be sponsored by Live Nation and Burger King and will feature opening act Jordin Sparks. What is this, the “Purity Ring Tour?”

Grammy nominated and platinum-selling recording artists, Jonas Brothers, today announced the dates and cities for “The Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009.” The tour, which will take the band to three continents, will feature new music taken from the June 15 worldwide release of their upcoming Hollywood Records album. “The Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009,” presented by Burger King(R), kicks off in Dallas at New Cowboys Stadium on June 20 and will take the band throughout the United States and Canada. In addition to their 44-city North American trek, Jonas Brothers will also play three European dates including recently sold-out shows at Paris’ Zenith Arena and London’s Wembley Arena plus a just-added date at Madrid’s Palacio De Deportes. Additional European shows will be announced soon along with debut tour dates in South America. “The Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009″ is produced by Live Nation.
