Jay-Z and Coldplay helped the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas celebrate its grand opening at the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Day (Sat. Jan 1) with a live concert held inside the hotel’s Marquee nightclub.

During Jay-Z’s set, he invited Chris Martin from Coldplay and musician John Mayer to the stage, as well as rapper Kanye West to perform alongside him. Jay-Z and his wife Beyonce also sang a duet of his “Forever Young” song later in the evening. Some of the celebrity attendees at the event included Alex Rodriguez, Brandy, Taraji P. Henson, Selita Ebanks, Channing Tatum, Christina Milian and more.

The 2011 Grammy Awards will be here before you know it (February 13th 2011 to be exact), and today, the nominations were announced with Eminem receiving the most nods! The Detroit born rapper has an impressive 10 nominations, while R&B newcomer Bruno Mars scored 7, and Jay-Z and Lady Gaga each snagged 6.

Other acts nominated include Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, B.o.B., Drake, Beyonce, John Mayer, Susan Boyle, Rihanna, Fantasia, Monica, Usher and tons more. Michael Jackson was even on the list, receiving a nomination in the “Best Male Pop Vocal Performance” category for “This Is It.”

The new word on the sidewalk is that Kim Kardashian and John Mayer went out on a date one night recently in New York City.

Kim is currently in the Big Apple filming her new reality show with her sister Kourtney, and according to Page 6, the celebrity socialite and reality TV star is on the hunt for a man in New York. So her friends hooked her up with John Mayer one night!

Serial celebrity dater John Mayer may have his eye on curvy Kim Kardashian. Sources said Mayer recently was out one night with the sultry star, who’s in town filming her new series. One source said, “They brought along other friends, but the idea was to see if they would hit it off.” Kim’s made it clear she’s on the hunt for a new man in New York.

Sources tell TMZ that Kim and John “totally hit it off” and that the Page 6 story is completely true! The sources also say that the pair have “gone out” together a few times (alone, just the two of them) since the first NYC group date.

We’re told the story in Page 6 — that the two hung out with a bunch of people in NYC to see if there was any chemistry — is totally true … and after that John and Kim spent a couple of nights hitting the town by themselves. One source close to Kim tells us it’s “nothing serious” … yet — but she thinks John is a “really cool guy.”

Sounds like Kim Kardashian has found herself a white boy this time around! But racist a** John Mayer? C’mon Kim, we know you can do better than that!!

Actress Jennifer Aniston and singer John Mayer’s relationship has more ups and downs than a roller coaster ride!

One day the two are back together…the other day their both enjoying the single life. Well according to OK Magazine, Jen wants to work things out and feels that it was John who got away from her.

“It’s ironic, because the rumors about her past always come back to her and [ex-husband Brad Pitt]. But Jen feels it was actually John who was the life of her life and the one who got away.”

Well maybe they are back together after all….who knows?

Singer/musician John Mayer has joined the likes of so many other celebrities….and has pulled the plug on his Twitter account. In less than 140 characters, John left his 3.7 million followers with a simple farewell: “What does this button do?”

A spokeswoman for Mayer also spoke out and said that he discontinued his Twitter since his Battle Studies Tour is “now at a close and a return to the studio is planned.”

Musician John Mayer thought it’d be cool to use the N word in a recent interview with Playboy Magazine for their March 2010 issue. Just because you got to perform at Michael Jackson’s funeral and Jay-Z’s big 9/11 concert doesn’t mean you’re cool enough with black people go around saying the N word…

PLAYBOY: If you didn’t know you, would you think you’re a douche bag?
MAYER: It depends on what I picked up. My two biggest hits are “Your Body Is a Wonderland” and “Daughters.” If you think those songs are pandering, then you’ll think I’m a douche bag. It’s like I come on very strong. I am a very…I’m just very. V-E-R-Y. And if you can’t handle very, then I’m a douche bag. But I think the world needs a little very. That’s why black people love me.

PLAYBOY: Because you’re very?
MAYER: Someone asked me the other day, “What does it feel like now to have a hood pass?” And by the way, it’s sort of a contradiction in terms, because if you really had a hood pass, you could call it a nigger pass. Why are you pulling a punch and calling it a hood pass if you really have a hood pass? But I said, “I can’t really have a hood pass. I’ve never walked into a restaurant, asked for a table and been told, ‘We’re full.’”

PLAYBOY: It is true; a lot of rappers love you. You recorded with Common and Kanye West, played live with Jay-Z.
MAYER: What is being black? It’s making the most of your life, not taking a single moment for granted. Taking something that’s seen as a struggle and making it work for you, or you’ll die inside. Not to say that my struggle is like the collective struggle of black America. But maybe my struggle is similar to one black dude’s.

PLAYBOY: Do black women throw themselves at you?
MAYER: I don’t think I open myself to it. My dick is sort of like a white supremacist. I’ve got a Benetton heart and a fuckin’ David Duke cock. I’m going to start dating separately from my dick.

All of the big celebrities came out for the launch party celebrating the official opening of Vevo, a brand new new music video website owned by Sony Music, Universal, EMI and Abu Dhabi Music Company. The site itself is hosted by Youtube, Sony and Google and currently features video content from artists on Universal. Folks like Rihanna, Ciara, 50 Cent, Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga, Adam Lambert, a number of record label executives and more all showed up for the big launch party for the new site Tuesday night (Dec 8) at the Skylight Studio in New York City.

TV star Rashinda Jones is denying rumors that she and guitarist John Mayer are seeing each other. The online gossip mill said the two were spotted having dinner together Friday night (Oct 23) at the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood. Supposed “witnesses” at the restaurant even said John borrowed a guitar from one of the restaurants’ performers and sung “Your Body is a Wonderland” to Jones, who plays Ann in the new NBC comedy, “Parks & Recreation.”

But a spokesperson for Rashida says she and John were NOT there together. They were there separately, each with their own group of friends.

“She was having dinner with friends – totally independent of him,” the rep told WENN. “He came over to the table she was at with her friends, said hello to everyone, (and) asked if he could play the guitar that her friends were already playing. (His) performance was not directed at anyone.”

Rashida Jones, whose father is musical genius Quincy Jones, is still dating presidential speechwriter Jon Favreau.

The huge celebrity guest list at the event included Halle Berry, Usher, Samuel L. Jackson, Nick Cannon, Tyler Perry, Robin Thicke, Mary J. Blige and more. Rapper Jay-Z brought out the big guns when he performed Friday night (Sep 11) in New York City’s famed arena, Madison Square Garden for the “Answer the Call” 9/11 benefit concert. The Brooklyn, NYC born and raised hip-hop icon performed some of his biggest hits from his old albums and some new songs from his most recent album, The Blueprint 3. Rihanna, Kanye West, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Diddy, Pharrell, Swizz Beatz, John Mayer, Kid Cudi and Santigold joined Jay-Z on stage during the sold-out concert. All proceeds from the show went to the New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund.

Mama Tina was even in the crowd showing her son-in-law some love and throwing up the Roc sign!
