R&B crooner John Legend and his model girlfriend of over 2 years Christine Teigen were picture perfect as they arrived on the red carpet of the 14th Annual National Breast Cancer Coalition Fund’s New York Gala at Cipriani 42nd Street Thursday evening (Nov 5).

John is in the middle of working on his fourth studio album, which he revealed is more soulful than his previous albums and will be completed by the end of he year and released by mid-2010.

“It’s soulful,” he tells The Boombox. “It’s a little more retro. It’s a collection of cover songs, so that’s part of the feel of it, taking us back. We still have a bit of work to do on it, but we’ll probably finish by the end of the year and put it out by the middle of next year.”

Rapper Jay-Z and singer Alicia Keys opened Game 2 of the Major League Baseball World Series with their much hyped performance of “Empire State of Mind” in front of 50,000 baseball fans (and millions of viewers at home) at Yankee Stadium Thursday night (Oct 29) in New York City.

R&B singer/songwriter John Legend and his model girlfriend Christine Teigen went out for lunch Wednesday afternoon (Sep 23) in the Soho district of New York City. After their meal, John took the couple’s bulldog out for a short walk.

Project Sunshine, a nonprofit that provides free educational, recreational and social programs to hospitalized children, recently held a benefit in New York City’s Nikki Beach on the Upper East Side. John performed at the event due to Christine’s involvement.

John: “My girlfriend Christine is very involved with Project Sunshine. She’s a volunteer and she helped organize this event and if I didn’t want to get kicked out of bed I had to be here tonight.”

Christine: “I clearly see John doing so much stuff with charity work and everything and when you’re around him so often you start to feel like you’re not doing anything. We wanted to make it a night of fashion and of art and music. The fashion show tied in with the fact that we had these amazing designers that wanted to be involved with Project Sunshine so much that they donated to the gift bags and with auction items as well.”

“Slideshow” (featuring John Legend) is the latest single from T.I.’s platinum certified sixth studio album Paper Trail and here’s the official music video for the song. The video is a montage of different clips/images of T.I. doing various community service acts before heading to prison for federal gun charges. He began serving his year-and-a-day sentence on May 26, 2009. Continue reading to peep the video.

John Legend, a budding philanthropist, hosted the $1,000-per-ticket benefit dinner and performance in an effort to show that everyone can make a difference to help end world poverty.

I’m trying to understand what possible motivation you may have had for publishing that vile cartoon depicting the shooting of the chimpanzee that went crazy. I guess you thought it would be funny to suggest that whomever was responsible for writing the Economic Recovery legislation must have the intelligence and judgment of a deranged, violent chimpanzee, and should be shot to protect the larger community. Really? Did it occur to you that this suggestion would imply a connection between President Barack Obama and the deranged chimpanzee? Did it occur to you that our President has been receiving death threats since early in his candidacy? Did it occur to you that blacks have historically been compared to various apes as a way of racist insult and mockery? Did you intend to invoke these painful themes when you printed the cartoon?

John Legend performed at Sobe Lifewater’s Club Sports Illustrated event, which celebrated the unveiling of the most anticipated Sports Illustrated issue of the year – the annual Swimsuit Issue – where Bar Rafaeli is this year’s cover girl. Sources tell Gossip On This that the party actually started in NYC where the models gracing the issue threw a little bash. Then everyone boarded a Southwest Airlines plane and flew from NYC to Las Vegas where the party continued at LAX nightclub. They must have some deep ass pockets to afford to do all that. Doing big things in a recession, we hear that!

John Legend added himself to the list of celebrities who have had something to say about Chrianna-gate ‘09. This is what the singer told People.com:

“I know both of them. I was surprised when I heard because it doesn’t strike me as something Chris would do,” Legend told PEOPLE Thursday at Las Vegas’s LAX during the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue release party. “You never know what’s inside people or what can trigger that,” he added.

Although Legend has never recorded with either Brown or Rihanna, he knows them both from award shows and just being in the music industry together.

“It’s an awful story,” he said. “I feel terrible for both of them but if Chris did what they said he did, that’s unacceptable. He has to accept the consequences of it.”

ATLANTA // WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 29TH 2008 » T.I. was spotted voting yesterday in Atlanta. If you are looking at this picture like I was and wondering how was T.I. able to vote after committing a felony, here is a little info for you courtesy of MTV.

How was T.I. able to vote? Well, the Georgia Secretary of State’s office, in consultation with their own lawyers “reviewed the law and found that Mr. Harris is eligible to in Georgia because the state constitution says that to be able to vote, you have to have served your entire sentence, which includes all probation and fines and any other stipulations,” said Matt Carrothers, the Secretary of State’s director of media relations.

Because T.I. is not slated to go to prison until next year on felony gun charges and is not currently incarcerated — though he is under house arrest — and is not on probation, all he had to do was contact the county he votes in and get re-registered in order to cast a ballot.

The 2008 Video Music Awards aired Sunday night and yours truly is here to bring you the 411 on all of the hottest (and not so hot) styles worn at the show! There were many hot styles worn to the show, but first and foremost, I gotta show some love to the men, because if you take out the select few that I will talk about later on in the post, just about every guy was dressed to impress! Some of the best dressed male celebs of the night were Ludacris, Ne-Yo, LL Cool J, T.I, John Legend, and Chris Brown. Ludacris looked like Mr. Urban High Fashion wearing Gucci from head to toe (tie included), Ne-Yo also looked good rocking Gucci from head to toe, LL Cool J lost the bedazzled tee’s and kept it simple yet classy in Gucci, John Legend really gave an edge to the classic white button up, black tie, and pants look by adding a fly white leather jacket, and Chris Brown decided not to wear his favorite red carpet designer and opted for a Louis Vuitton Jacket, Cassett Jeans, and Dior kicks. The purpose of the DNC is for Barack Obama to formally accept his nomination as the party’s official presidential candidate. But we all have to do our part to get this family into the White House! So if you haven’t registered to vote yet, get off your lazy behind and go register! And once you do that, you have to actually get up (once again, it’s not that bad, I promise) and go out and VOTE on November 4th.

Black Hollywood showed up and showed out at the first ever BET Honors, which were held in Washington D.C. Saturday night. The ladies glammed it up on the red carpet, and the fellas got their GQ on. Honorees included R&B star Alicia Keys and supermodel Tyra Banks, Time Warner board chairman Richard D. Parsons and Princeton professor Cornel West. “For me, I’m just a girl still from Harlem, and here I am,” Keys said. “It’s a tremendous feeling to do what you love and for people to love what you do. … People are honoring me for doing what my heart tells me to do, (and that is) so fulfilling.” Actor Blair Underwood presented Keys’ award, while her musical idol, Stevie Wonder, performed a special rendition of of “As” especially for her. John Legend, Wyclef Jean, Gladys Knight, Brian McKnight, Jill Scott and Raheem DeVaughn also performed. The show is set to air sometime in February. Check your local listings for more details.

R&B singer John Legend celebrated his 30th birthday at “The Bank” in Vegas over the weekend with his girlfriend Christine Tiegen.

In an effort to fight world poverty, John Legend has released this video in conjuction with his Show Me Campaign. “Show Me” is off of his latest album, Once Again, and the video was directed by Lee Hirsch.

So the 2007 Movies Rock! show went down last night (December 7th): a night of movies, fashion and music! Performances include Chris Brown, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige and John Legend, Jennifer Hudson, Will.I.Am, Busta Rhymes, LL Cool J and Eve! It looked fun, I’d say my favorite performance would have to be Fergie Ferg with “Live and Let Die” (Guns N’ Roses), she did an amazing job and did that song much justice. Ooh, I also love Usher’s performance of Gene Kelly’s “Singing in the Rain” – great show! Really they ALL did a fantastic job, I’m so proud of everyone! I’m mad I missed it y’all! Ha ha, expect more performances after the cut!
