The one-year anniversary of Trayvon Martin‘s shooting death was marked with various memorial vigils held across the United States on Tuesday (Feb 26). At the official anniversary vigil for Martin in New York City, where advocates were protesting national gun laws and racial profiling, among the demonstrators were Martin’s parents, and actor/singer Jamie Foxx — who reportedly spoke and sang to the crowd through a megaphone.

In footage obtained by CNN, Foxx told the crowd:

“Don’t think about the color of the child. Think about that child going to school, think about that child hanging out with his father, with his mom. Skiing, skateboarding, doing all these fun things that a 17-year-old child does, and then think about this child on his way home to see his father and then all of a sudden that child has his life taken from him.”

Addressing Martin’s parents directly, Foxx said, “We all want to let you know that we love you and we’re not going to leave you,” before he broke out into song. “No weapon, formed against you, shall prosper,” he sang.

About one year ago, on February 26th 2012, 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was walking through his father’s gated community in Sanford, Florida (near Orlando) when he was shot and killed by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman.

The teen was unarmed at the time of his death, and was wearing a hoodie and only had a pack of skittles and a can of Arizona iced tea that he had just purchased at the gas station on him, which became national symbols representing his murder.

Initially, citing Florida’s state-wide “Stand Your Ground” laws, Zimmerman claimed claimed self-defense in Martin’s shooting death, and was not immediately prosecuted. But that all changed a few months later when a Special Prosecutor charged Zimmerman with murder in the second degree, to which Zimmerman pleaded not guilty to and is currently out on a $1 million bond while he awaits trial this June.

Zimmerman has also requested a hearing under the stand your ground law provisions, which is scheduled to begin in April.

“This is the one-year anniversary of this death, this is a somber day for us,” Trayvon Martin’s father Tracy said at the anniversary vigil. “But also it’s a day of peace for us, because we know as parents we’ve done all we can do to make our children’s lives right.”

Martin’s mother Sybrina Fulton added, “I’d just like to say that I’m the mother of two boys. I have one son on Earth and one son in heaven. I will continue to fight for my boys as well as your boys and girls.”

President Barack Obama rode high on the Audacity of Hope during his 2008 presidential campaign, but it’s safe to say that George Zimmerman is campaigning on the Audacity of Nope.

The man charged with murdering 17-year-old Trayvon Martin sat for an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News, along with his lawyer Mark O’Mara.

In the interview, Hannity asked Zimmerman if there was anything that he would change about that fatal night when he killed Trayvon.

A man with logic and common sense might say, “I wish young Trayvon didn’t have to lose his life.” But not this bumbling, mush-brained doofus.

Instead, he told Hannity that he wouldn’t change a thing because that would be questioning God, and he believes that everything that happened that night was “God’s plan.”

God’s plan?

Did the good Lord come down from heaven and show him the Blueprint?

This moron probably runs around saying slavery was good for America because if it wasn’t for that, then he never would’ve gotten to enjoy Michael Jackson’s Thriller. You just have to see Zimmerman’s interview to believe it.

Needless to say, Trayvon Martin’s parents weren’t at all impressed with Zimmerman’s pathetic interview or his sadistic interpretation of the Almighty God.

Speaking with CBS News, Trayvon’s father, Tracy Martin, punched holes in Zimmerman’s twisted form of worship:

“I simply really don’t know what God George Zimmerman is worshipping because there’s no way that the God that I serve had in his plans for George Zimmerman to murder my son,” said Tracy Martin.

And the church said, “AMEN! Brother Martin!”

You have to wonder what the hell Zimmerman’s legal team is up to with this press campaign.

Are they trying to provoke a mistrial? Or just taint the jury pool?

Oh. No, that’s right. This whole press tour is about rehabilitating George Zimmerman’s public image.

You see, he and his wife lost cool points with the public — yes, even the Tea Party crowd — when they were busted for lying about the big ol’ bucket of PayPal cash they were sitting on when he went to jail in April.

His bond was set at $150,000 then, but earlier this month, the judge revoked that bail and smacked Zimmerman with a $1 million bail.

Paying the bond for that bail has put a hurtin’ on the Zimmermans’ bank account, so now George is trying to do damage control and solicit some more funds. He posted this pathetic plea for coins on YouTube and his official site, therealgeorgezimmerman.com.

Uh, did George Zimmerman ever stop to think that maybe it was in God’s plan for him to be broke? He should stop fighting the will of the Lord and get right with Jesus.

Speaking of spiritual retribution, Zimmerman’s sad little begging hour with Hannity has failed to unleash the cash he so badly needs. The Orlando Sentinel reports that Zimmerman only pulled in $1,500 after the Hannity interview.

George Zimmerman surrendered himself to police Sunday afternoon (May 3) after the judge presiding over the Trayvon Martin shooting death case revoked his bond earlier in the weekend and gave him 48 hours to turn himself in.

The judge ordered Zimmerman back to jail after the court found out that he had access to at least $135,000 in a Paypal account set up to handle donations for his legal defense, proving that he and his wife were not honest with the court about their finances during an April bond hearing.

Zimmerman, a former neighborhood watch volunteer, is accused of shooting and killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin (who was unarmed) in a gated community in Sanford, FL back in February.

Zimmerman, who was charged with second-degree murder for the crime, argues that he acted in self-defense.

His lawyer Mark O’Mara announced Zimmerman’s return to jail in a blog post, saying that Zimmerman’s safety remains a concern, even behind bars.

“We are very concerned about safety still,” O’Mara said. “There are ongoing threats and concerns and complaints.”

O’Mara also said he will be filing a motion Monday asking the judge for a new bond hearing to revisit Zimmerman’s status and allow the defense to “explain why what happened seems to have happened.”

According to reports, Zimmerman turned himself in at least 40 minutes before his 2:30 pm deadline, and is now being held without bail at Seminole County’s John E. Polk Correctional Facility.

Sheriff Donald Eslinger told reporters that Zimmerman — who will be housed in administrative confinement, for security purporses — was “quiet and cooperative.”

Video footage recorded outside the facility shows Zimmerman being peacefully escorted by authorities as he exits a white minivan, wearing handcuffs, jeans and a long-sleeve shirt.

George Zimmerman is going back to jail!

In a totally unexpected new twist, the judge over the Trayvon Martin shooting death case revoked George Zimmerman’s bond, and he has 48 hours to turn himself in.

Prosecutors in Florida asked a judge to revoke Zimmerman’s bail after they filed a motion that says him and his wife “misled and deceived the court” during a hearing back in April.

The motion accuses Zimmerman and his wife of lying to the judge during the bond hearing about the money they collected for their defense. It also accuses the couple of speaking in code to to hide what they were doing.

Prosecutors allege that Zimmerman’s wife knew about the donations her husband received through a publicized Paypal account, but failed to mention the money at his bond hearing.

Zimmerman’s attorney later revealed that the Paypal account ultimately collected somewhere around $200,000.

From the Orlando Sentinel:

“Defendant has intentionally deceived the court with the assistance of his wife,” the motion says. “During the jail phone calls both of them spoke in code to hide what they were doing.”

Prosecutor Bernie de la Rionda told the judge today that “this court was led to believe that they didn’t have a single penny” at the earlier bond hearing.

Zimmerman’s wife “flat out lied to this court,” de la Rionda said. Lester agreed, revoking Zimmerman’s bond. He must turn himself in, the judge said.

Argument on the bond issue came after Lester heard argument about whether he should seal key evidence in the case from the public, including the names of witnesses and the statements Zimmerman made to law enforcement.

Lawyers for the state of Florid believe that as punishment for lying about the money, George Zimmerman’s wife should be charged with contempt of court, which usually results in a maximum 6-month prison sentence. They are also asking for Zimmerman’s bond to be revoked, raised, and for him to be put sent back to jail.

George Zimmerman was charged with second degree murder in the February shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. In convicted, he could face a maximum sentence of life in prison.

His trial is scheduled to begin sometime next year.

George Zimmerman — the former neighborhood watch volunteer who was recently charged with second degree murder for shooting and killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin — was released from jail shortly after midnight on Monday morning (Apr 23) after posting $150,000 bond.

Zimmerman, accompanied by an unidentified male, was wearing a brown jacket and blue jeans, and was carrying a paper bag as he walked out of the John E. Polk Correctional Facility. He didn’t make eye contact with photographers and was completely silent as he made his way to his vehicle.

Under the conditions of his bail, which were set by Judge Kenneth Lester Jr. last Friday, Zimmerman must wear an electronic monitoring device equipped with GPS tracking.

Zimmerman is allowed to leave the state, however, no matter where he is, he must observe a dusk-to-dawn curfew. He is also prohibited from consuming alcohol or any illegal drugs, and he has been legally banned from possessing a firearm, for very obvious reasons.

Attorney Daryl Parks, who is representing Trayvon Martin’s parents, said that while the family respects the judicial process that allows Zimmerman to be released from prison … they are still “devastated by him being able to walk the streets.”

“It’s with a very, very heavy heart that they’ve seen him walk freely late last night back into the public,” Parks said on CNN.

George Zimmerman stunned a Florida court during his bond hearing on Friday when he took the stand and offered a personal apology to Trayvon Martin’s parents, who were sitting in the courtroom.

Addressing Martin’s family directly, Zimmerman said, “I am sorry for the loss of your son. I did not know how old he was. I thought he was a little bit younger than I am. I did not know if he was armed or not.”

Benjamin Crump, another lawyer for the Martin family, said that Zimmerman’s apology was not only self-serving … but poorly timed and insincere.

“The apology was somewhat of a surprise because we had told them this was not the appropriate time, but they just disregarded that, and he went and pandered to the court and the media and gave a very insincere apology,” Crump told CNN.

George Zimmerman admitted to murdering Trayvon Martin on the night of February 26th in a gated Sanford, Florida community. He told police he was acting in self-defense under Florida’s “Stand Your Ground Law.”

For his safety, Zimmerman’s current whereabouts are being kept a secret until his next court appearance.

George Zimmerman — the most hated man in America right now — is behind bars at a Florida prison after being officially charged with 2nd degree murder for the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

Zimmerman was performing his duties as a “neighborhood watchman” on the night of Sunday, February 26th when he spotted Martin, who was making his way back to his father’s house after making a quick purchase at a nearby convenience store.

Zimmerman called 911, telling dispatchers that he thought the boy looked “suspicious,” citing recent break-ins in the area, which was an upscale, suburban gated community.

Even though dispatchers asked Zimmerman to not follow the young man, he did so anyway, and the two got into a scuffle, which resulted in Zimmerman pulling out a handgun and shooting Martin in the chest, killing him almost instantly.

George Zimmerman told police that Trayvon Martin — who was unarmed — had attacked him from behind as he was walking back to his truck, and he only shot him in self defense.

But a video taken about 40 minutes after the shooting as Zimmerman arrived at the Sanford, Florida police station after the shooting incident showed him walking unassisted without any difficulty.

There also weren’t any visible injuries or blood on Zimmerman’s clothing, which goes against his erroneous claims that Martin had attacked him.

After questioning, Zimmerman was quickly released, and wasn’t charged for his crime until more than 6 weeks later, on Wednesday, April 11th 2012.

As Trayvon Martin’s story gained popularity across the country, community activists and leaders hosted rallies all over the country, with demands that Zimmerman be brought to justice.

President Barack Obama even offered his opinion on the situation, saying at a White House press event nearly a month after the incident, “If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon.”

Zimmerman’s arrest was delayed in part because of Florida’s controversial “Stand Your Ground” law, which gives people legal permission to use deadly force in the face of danger, without even having to attempt a retreat. Florida is among 21 states with such a law.

Though Zimmerman’s arrest is a step toward the justice that Trayvon Martin’s parents say they are seeking for their son, they say they won’t stop fighting until Zimmerman is convicted.

George Zimmerman was arrested and charged with second degree murder on Wednesday (Apr 11).

He was booked at the Polk Correctional Facility in Sanford, Florida and is currently being held in protective custody without bail.

His first court appearance is scheduled for Thursday (Apr 12) in a secure courtroom inside the jail facility.

28-year-old George Zimmerman faces a life sentence if he is found guilty of shooting and killing Trayvon Martin.

George Zimmerman can count down the hours of freedom he has left … because the neighborhood watch volunteer will finally be charged today for the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

According to various confirmed reports, Florida special prosecutor Angela Corey plans to officially announce the charges this afternoon. It is not immediately clear what charges Zimmerman will face.

NBC reports the charges will be announced at a 6 p.m. EST news conference.

The prosecutor’s ruling comes just a day after Zimmerman’s lawyers withdrew from his case.

Looks like justice may be served after all….

Spike Lee is doing the right thing!

The famed director reportedly apologized to an elderly couple in Sanford, FL who were forced to flee their home after Lee re-tweeted their address on popular social networking site Twitter, thinking that it belonged to George Zimmerman, the infamous neighborhood watchman who fatally shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin last month.

Lee tweeted Wednesday:

“I Deeply Apologize To The McClain Family For Retweeting Their Address. It Was A Mistake. Please Leave The McClain’s In Peace.”

Spike Lee also reached an undisclosed settlement with the Florida couple, agreeing to compensate them for basically ruining their lives, according to Elaine and David McClain‘s attorney Matt Morgan.

“At this point in time, we have come to an agreement with Spike Lee and his attorneys, and at this point, the matter is fully resolved,” Morgan said in a statement. “Spike has agreed to compensate the McClains for their loss and for the disruption into their lives. He’s taken full responsibility.”

Mrs. McClain said the “Do the Right Thing” director was sincere with his apology and “was really kind” during their chat.

“When he called us, you could just tell he really felt bad about it,”" she said. “And it was just a slip, and I just know that he really, really has been concerned.”

The McClains, who are both in their 70s, were forced to leave their Sanford, FL home and temporarily relocate to a local hotel when they were bombarded with numeraous death threats, hate mail and unwanted media attention after Lee re-tweeted a message from another Twitter user containing their address to his 250,000+ followers. The address was originally thought to be George Zimmerman’s.

Elaine and David say they have no ties what-so-ever to George Zimmerman, but Elaine does have a son named William George Zimmerman, and had records from 1995 when he lived with her at that address.

The Trayvon Martin shooting death case continues to spark outrage across the globe as George Zimmerman hasn’t been arrested and charged for his crime.

George Zimmerman is a bold-faced liar, which shouldn’t be new information to anyone with a fully functioning brain who has been following the Trayvon Martin shooting death case.

Newly released police surveillance video, obtained by ABC News, shows that Trayvon Martin’s killer had not one single visible injury … which totally contradicts his fallacious story that Martin attacked him by punching him in the face and slamming his head into the sidewalk “multiple times,” causing various injuries including a swollen lip, bloody nose and lacerations to the back of his head.

The video footage, recorded just four hours after the shooting, shows no such injuries. In fact, Zimmerman appears to be upbeat (and in no pain) as he literally hops out of the back of the police car with no assistance what-so-ever, despite his hands being cuffed behind him.

Take a look at the video:

Do you see any “lacerations” on the back of his head? Nope.

What about that bloody nose? Shouldn’t he have blood all over his shirt? And when you have a bloody nose, aren’t you supposed to hold your head back so you don’t bleed to death?

That’s because Zimmerman clearly lied to police, who are taking his word (and the word of “anonymous witnesses”) over the clear facts.

Trayvon Martin did not attack George Zimmerman. George Zimmerman did, however, murder Trayvon Martin, but Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law prevents him from being arrested, because Zimmerman claims he was acting in self defense when he shot and killed Trayvon Martin the night of February 26th.

Zimmerman’s lawyer Craig Sonner says the video neither supports nor refutes his clients version of the events. “I don’t think it does either one,” Sonner said on the ‘Today’ show. “It’s a very grainy video.”

17-year-old Trayvon Martin was reportedly staying with his father and future step-mother (his father’s fiancee) when he walked to a nearby convenience store to buy a bag of skittles for his little brother, and a can of iced tea for himself.

28-year-old George Zimmerman, a former neighborhood watchman, shot and killed Martin after calling 911 to report a “suspcious” person walking around his gated suburban community near orlando.

Zimmerman — who was told by 911 dispatchers to stay in his car and NOT follow the teenager — falsely claims that Martin confronted him, decked him with a single punch, and pounded his head into the ground several times.

The controversial case continues to spark outrage across the nation (and even the world) as George Zimmerman, who clearly murdered Trayvon Martin for no apparent reason, has yet to be charged with anything.

In response to the nationwide outcry demanding that George Zimmerman be arrested for the murder of Trayvon Martin, the Sanford, Florida Police Department has released more “details” about the incident.

Details that are basically more lies from George Zimmerman, who continues to claim he was defending himself when he shot and killed 17-year-old Martin, who was “armed” with a can of Arizona iced tea and a bag of skittles.

Zimmerman, a now former neighborhood watchman, spotted Martin leaving his father’s house in a gated suburban community near Orlando, FL at around 7 pm the night of February 26th 2012 and decided to follow him and call 911 because he thought the boy looked “suspicious.”

The 911 call released weeks after the incident show that the dispatcher told Zimmerman to remain in his SUV, but he did not follow orders, and continued to follow Trayvon, who was minding his own business.

It was reportedly raining at the time, and the 17-year-old was wearing a hoodie, and talking to his 16-year-old girlfriend on the phone.

His girlfriend says she heard Trayvon ask George Zimmerman “why are you following me?” then hearing sounds of scuffle and the line going dead. Police records confirm that the young woman was talking to Martin moments before his death.

According to George Zimmerman’s version of the events, however … he claims to have lost sight of Trayvon, and as he was walking back to his SUV, he says Trayvon approached him from behind.

Zimmerman told police that Trayvon asked him if he had a problem. Zimmerman said no, and he says Trayvon said something like, “well you do now,” and punched him in the nose.

Zimmerman says he fell to the ground, and he alleges Trayvon jumped on top of him and slammed his head into the sidewalk multiple times.

According to authorities, Zimmerman then pulled out his gun and fired once at Trayvon, shooting him in the chest from very close range.

According to the “official” police report, Trayvon’s body was lying face down in the grass with his hands beneath his body when cops arrived to the scene two minutes later.

Officer Timothy Smith wrote in the report that Zimmerman had a swollen lip, and was bleeding from the nose and the back of his head; and his back was wet and covered with grass “as if he had been laying on his back on the ground.”

Smith said Zimmerman told first responders who were giving him first aid, “I was yelling for someone to help me, but no one would help me.”

Several “eye witnesses” back up Zimmerman’s story, telling cops he saw Trayvon on top of Zimmerman, punching him.

Cries for help were heard in the background on several 911 tapes, and were also heard by a number of witnesses, though exactly who was calling out is in dispute, with some saying it was Zimmerman, others saying it was Trayvon.

One of the 911 calls from the neighborhood was made by a teenage boy, who says he was walking his dog when he saw a helpless Trayvon lying on the ground, which goes directly against that so-called police report. “He was screaming,” the teenager said.

Trayvon Martin was listed in the police report was 6 feet tall, 160 pounds. Zimmerman was listed as 5 foot 9, and he is believed to be around 200 or more pounds.

A woman whose back door was steps away from where Trayvon was gunned down said she heard a boy crying, then a gunshot … and then silence.

“I heard someone crying – not boo-hoo crying, but scared or terrified or hurt maybe,” the woman said. “To me, it was a child.”

Prosecutors are saying that the conflicting stories, in addition to Florida’s controversial “Stand Your Ground” law, adds to the complication of the case.

But even if Trayvon Martin did punch Zimmerman as he claims, Reuters notes that there still may be enough conflicting evidence to imply that the shooting was NOT done in self-defense, which means that an though an arrest is not immediately possible, a grand jury will have to review the case and make that decision.

According to recent reports, George Zimmerman, a mortgage analyst, has been in hiding since a fringe group called the New Black Panther Party put a $10,000 bounty on his head.

Demands for his arrest continues to grow day-by-day as rallies and marches are held nationwide demanding justice for the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.
