Singer Mariah Carey is still holding her tongue on reports stating that her and husband Nick Cannon will be expecting a little one in months to come. At a Wal-Mart shareholders event in Arkansas on Friday, the singer/actress remained “hush-mouth” on all of the pregnancy rumors going around.

Last month, Carey dropped out of Tyler Perry’s remake of Ntozake Shange‘s 1975 play “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf” before filming could start taking place. This definitely drew a big red flag and became even more evident when we find out it was all due to medical reasons.

But if Mariah doesn’t have anything to say about the matter, her “Precious” star Gabourey Sidibe sure does! In a recent interview with UsMagazine.com, Sidibe shared her excitement about her co-star’s rumored baby news. Check out what she told them below:

“I have faith that she will be a great mother… She’s loving and nice. As soon as anyone gets married, everyone’s like, ‘Have babies! I’m like that. As soon as my friends get married, I’m like, ‘When are you having babies? Have babies already!’”

When asked for a picture, the less-than-enthused newbie star could barely crack a smile. One photo-seeking fan said jokingly, “that’s all you’re going to give me,” to the pouty Precious. Gabby responded, “you’ll get what I give you.” Later in the evening FishbowlDC overheard a Politico reporter asking Gabby for a quick interview. Gabby replied, “one question” and then proceeded to give the reporter a one-word answer. When asked a follow up Q, not-so-Precious said, “sounds like three questions, good night.”

However, during a recent interview with Radaronline.com, Gabby’s mother Alice Tan Riley personally spoke out against all of the accusations being made about her daughter:

“Would you believe all of those comments? Gabby was not raised to be a rude person. It has been a big change having all that attention and I think she has done well- she is happy right now– those comments are just other people’s opinions.”

We’re not surprised she said this! Parents never seem to see their kids for who they really are and tend to defend them even when they’re wrong.

Has Hollywood really gone to up and coming actress Gabourey Sidibe‘s head and boosted her ego? New reports regarding the “Precious” star say so!

New video footage (via Rhymes with Snitch) has surfaced of Gabby coming off as rude to a group of people as she made her way through an airport. Just before she and her entourage went on their way through the terminals, her security asked the photogs to not follow them, but they did anyway and snapped a ton of pictures which seemed to annoy Gabby and her crew. One of the shutterbugs told Sidibe she “looked beautiful” to which the young actress responded by saying “I know!” very matter-of-fact like. Then one of them had the nerve to ask the dumbest question known to man: “What do you prefer more, Gabby or Precious?” which most likely ticked her and her people off even more.

Later in the video, she’s seen holding a small bouquet flowers and asks who gave them to her, and when one of the photographers claimed them, she promptly responded with “You can have them back!” which was hilarious! And at that point, her security said “Enough!” and threatened to call the cops if the paparazzi didn’t stop taking pictures of Gabby.

But that’s not all. According to a columnist over at The Washington Post, Gabby was extremely rude to him at the White House Correspondents dinner in D.C. last week, and when he relayed how she treated him to another writer, she recalled her own bad encounter with Gabourey Sidibe. Y’all know how much I loved the powerful film from director Lee Daniels about an obese New York City teenager enduring unspeakable abuse at the hands of her parents. After Oscar night, I wrote, “I was rooting for Gabourey Sidibe for best actress. But the moment edgy comedienne Mo’Nique won the Oscar for supporting actress, I knew that the divine Sidibe was toast.” But after meeting Sidibe at the White House Correspondents dinner and hearing about others’ negative encounters with her, I’m putting down my pompoms.

I was thrilled to spot her at a table laughing uproariously with the man sitting to her right. “I know you’re having a good time and I’m sorry to interrupt,” I began. My next sentence didn’t come out because Sidibe shouted over the din, “Yeah, come back in five minutes!” Thinking she was joking, I laughed and pretended to walk away.

When I noticed that the look in her eyes meant she was serious, I walked back to her and said, “I just wanted to congratulate you on your nomination. I thought your performance was spectacular. I even wrote a column about it.” After wishing her good luck, I rejoined my friends.

Back at the table, I sheepishly related the incident to my colleague Jo-Ann Armao. “Oh! She’s horrible,” Armao said in her wonderfully blunt way. She told me that she saw Sidibe at the pre-cocktails and told her that she’d seen “Precious” three times (an amazing emotional feat that only adds to my awe of Armao) and that she thought Sidibe’s performance was “incandescent.” What was Sidibe’s response? “I guess I should say, ‘Thank you.’”

At the MSNBC after party, the partner of a “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” producer said to me, “Look! There’s Gabby Sidibe. I’m going to ask her to take a picture with me.” I warned him, “She’s mean.” To which he said, “I don’t care. I just want a picture.” I didn’t see what went down, but the dejected fan came back and said incredulously, “She said no.” No doubt the constant interruptions and jostling are bothersome. Her ever-shrinking zone of privacy must be irksome, too. And there’s no law that says Sidibe has to show grace to her fans or appreciation for their kind words. But a true star would.

Up and coming actress Gabourey Sidibe lived out every celebrity’s dream over the weekend: the rare opportunity to host an episode of NBC’s popular sketch comedy series “Saturday Night Live!” With only one film under her belt, the actress got the chance to not only host, but perform in several skits throughout the live late-night telecast.

Sidibe, famous for her starring role in the Oscar winning movie “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire,” poked fun at people’s confusion between herself and her Precious character as she sang in a doo-wop-style opening monologue: “Movies are not real life, that’s something you should know. Lenny Kravitz is not a male nurse, and Mariah Carey doesn’t have a mustache,” Gabby sang to a tune similar to “The Shoop Shoop Song (It’s In Hiss Kiss).”

The young actress later played a Jamaican nurse in a sketch making fun of Suze Orman. She played a loud-mouthed, know-it-all neighbor who yelled at kids on her front stoop. She acted as herself in a press junket sketch, and in another skit, she hilariously sold alarm clocks that speak to you. And she also played a grumpy DMV worker as she competed at the “2010 Public Employee of the Year Awards.” In addition, Gabby starred alongside Andy Samberg in an SNL Digital Short titled “Cherry Battle,” where the pair, dressed in long robes, spit cherries at each other in slow motion.

Actress Gabourey Sidibe attended a meet & greet session for her movie “Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire” at Cinemart Roppongi Monday (Apr 5) in Tokyo, Japan. The film opens at the end of this month (Sat. Apr 24) in Japan.

Howard Stern can take his highly abrasive opinions and shove them as Oscar nominee Gabourey Sidibe proves him wrong for saying she’ll have no more opportunities in Hollywood past her debut in the hit movie “Precious.” It was recently announced that Gabby will be hosting an upcoming episode of the popular NBC sketch comedy series “Saturday Night Live!”

Ms. Sidibe is going to be hosting an upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live! “It literally just happened,” my source said of the deal. No word on an exact date yet.

SNL is not—we repeat, not—the only gig Sidibe has scored since her feature film debut. She has a recurring role on Showtime’s upcoming The Big C, about a teacher (Laura Linney) living with cancer. Sidibe plays one of her sassy students. The series, which is set to premiere in August, also costars Oliver Platt.

Hollywood might just have to make room for Ms. Sidibe, don’t you think? Because it looks as though she ain’t going nowhere anytime soon!

“The truth is Gabourey would like to lose some weight but the reality is that she would not have gotten the role of Precious if she had not been heavy,” Ridley said. “As her mom I would like to see my daughter healthy but if she didn’t lose weight that’s not a problem either – it runs in our family. I’m proud of my daughter no matter what and the truth is that there are all kinds of acting roles for all sorts of people.”

Oscar nominee Gabourey Sidibe is proving to many that she won’t disappear anytime soon. According to a press release from Showtime, Gabby has just signed a deal to star as a recurring guest in the dark comedy series “The Big C.” The series will star Laura Linney as Cathy, a “repressed suburban wife and mother who reclaims her life after a terminal cancer diagnosis” and Oliver Platt (from 2012) as her “immature, but well-meaning husband.” Gabby will play a student in Cathy’s class with an attitude. “The Big C” is expected to premiere in late summer.

In addition, Gabby will star along side Zoe Kravitz in a project from Sundance called “Yelling to the Sky,” written and directed by Victoria Mahoney. The last time Gabby started in a film that was shown at the Sundance film festival, she went on to get nominated for an Academy Award.

Who’s eating their words now, Howard Stern?

Radio shock jock Howard Stern is running his mouth again… Going against the grain (as usual), the Sirius XM radio show host had a lot to say about young actress Gabourey Sidibe (star of the Oscar award-winning movie “Precious”), calling her “enormous” and saying she’s too fat to have a career in Hollywood.

“There’s the most enormous, fat black chick I’ve ever seen. She is enormous. Everyone’s pretending she’s a part of show business and she’s never going to be in another movie,” Stern said. “She should have gotten the Best Actress award because she’s never going to have another shot. What movie is she gonna be in?”

“‘Blind Side 2,’” Stern suggested. “She could be the football player, take out the whole front line.” Stern, on the air with his co-host Robin Quivers, also played the speech given by Oprah Winfrey to Sidibe at the Oscars on the program. The hosts said Oprah was lying to her by saying she’s going to have a career in Hollywood. “Come on, be honest with the girl,” Stern said. “Look in that room. Who else do you look like? Those are the people that work all the time,” Quivers agreed.

Actress/comedienne Mo’Nique was honored last night with the Oscar award for “Best Supporting Actress” at the 82nd Annual Academy Awards! As many critics (and the media alike) predicted, the actress turned late night TV talk show host won the prestigious award for her role as “Mary Jones” in the hit movie “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire.”

Backstage at the Oscars, Mo’Nique had this to say:

“The reason why I have on this royal blue dress is because it’s the color that Hattie McDaniel wore in 1940 when she accepted her Oscar. The reason why I have this gardenia in my hair, it is the flower that Hattie McDaniel wore when she accepted her Oscar. So for you, Miss Hattie McDaniel, I feel you all over me,” Mo’Nique said.

Mo’Nique made history with her win as she is the first stand up comedienne to win an Oscar. She also added to history as the fifth black actress to win an Academy Award. Those who went before her were Hattie McDaniel, Whoopi Goldberg, Halle Berry and Jennifer Hudson.

And speaking of historics, Geoffrey Fletcher, who won the Oscar for “Best Adapted Screenplay” for his role as the screenwriter for Precious, was the first African American screenwriter to win a gold statue, so congratulations are definitely in order for both he and Mo’Nique. Actresses Gabourey Sidibe and Mo’Nique were presented with high honors over the weekend at the 25th Annual Film Independent Spirit Awards, held Friday (Mar 5) at the Nokia Theater LA Live in Los Angeles. Gabby took home the award for “Best Actress,” while her co-star Mo’Nique won the award for “Best Supporting Actress.” And director Lee Daniels won “Best Director” while the movie “Precious” as a whole won accolades in the “Best Screenplay” and “Best Feature” categories.

It seems that comedian Chris Rock might have gotten his azz handed to him (no pun intended) backstage at the 2010 NAACP Image Awards last week. As actress Gabourey Sidibe made her way to the stage to accept her award for “Best Actress” from Chris Rock, he grabbed her butt with both hands; she playfully slapped him off and laughed, but apparently, her father, who was in the audience, wasn’t laughing.

“As I go up to get my award in a room where my dad is, because he’s one of my dates, Chris Rock grabbed my butt with both of his hands – and then I slapped him back. I didn’t think too much of it at all, but my dad was super pissed.”

“Some dudes gotta have it – it’s my own fault for being too damn fine.”

LOL! We love this girl and her self-confidence. The first time actress is nominated for an Academy Award for her starring role in “Precious.”

The hit movie “Precious” (nominated for an Oscar) took home a total of 6 awards Friday night (Feb 26) at the 41st Annual NAACP Image Awards, which aired live on FOX from Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium.

Newcomer Gabourey Sidibe was awarded with “Outstanding Actress,” while Mo’Nique picked up the “Outstanding Supporting Actress” award, Lee Daniels won the “Outstanding Director” award and Geoffrey Fletcher was named “Outstanding Writer.” And the film as a collective won “Outstanding Motion Picture of the Year” and “Best Independent Film.”

It’s become a trend for Vanity Fair to shoot an issue every year titled “A New Hollywood” that includes up and coming actress that have recently made splashes in Hollywood. When I first saw the cover for the 2010 issue, I did a small double take. The article included Twilight’s Kristen Stewart but not Gabourey Sidibe? Then I decided to look at the full spread, hoping she’d be there; but no, she wasn’t. And as I examined the spread more, it came to my attention that there was something seriously missing here: African-Americans! A friend of mine made a comment that it was the “skinny white girl” issue and honestly, I could not agree more.

This year’s ladies include (2^nd Picture: left to right) Carey Mulligan, Kristen Stewart, Abbie Cornish, Mia Wasikowska, Amanda Seyfried, Rebecca Hall, Emma Stone, Evan Rachel Wood, and Anna Kendrick. Now tell me, how many do you recognize? I’m a film major and only recognize five but have only seen four of them act. Amanda Seyfried stared in the movie musical Mamma Mia! and later went to co-star in the flop Jennifer’s Body. Kristen Stewart stars as Bella in the franchise Twilight, though her acting can be seriously questioned. Emma Stone has gone the comedian route in movies like Superbad and Zombieland but apart from that, hasn’t done much else. Lastly, Evan Rachel Wood starred in the movie Thirteen years ago and has recently been in Across the Universe and The Wrestler. As for the fifth one I recognize, I’ve seen Anna Kendrick in the trailers for Up in the Air.

Needless to say, it is very clear that there is a conscious effort not to include two female African-American actresses who have made more than just a splash and have more credibility under their belts than the featured actresses. Gabourey Sidibe, for one, has only been in one movie, Precious, and has already received both Oscar and Golden Globe nominations for Best Actress, with ten other wins. She has been proclaimed as one of the breakout performers of the last year, yet she doesn’t make the “New Hollywood” list? Hmm…

Next is Zoe Saldana. Yes, she’s had small roles in movies such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Vantage Point but it wasn’t until last year when she broke out as a star with her role as Nyota Uhura in Star Trek. She then went in to grab a lead role in the record breaking Avatar. She’s been nominated for an Image Award, MTV Movie Award, etc., and with a sequel to Star Trek in the works and four movies already completed for 2010, I think it’s clear to say that she is definitely a breakout actress. Yet, again, she doesn’t make the “New Hollywood” list? Something doesn’t seem right here.

I can’t honestly see why Zoe did not make the list. She’s thin, beautiful, and talented. She doesn’t have the bra size of the women on the cover and she has acknowledged it, but that didn’t stop her from making People Magazine’s annual 100 Most Beautiful People in the World list. Some will defend Vanity Fair, saying it’s because she has acted before 2009 or even 2008. But so has the other females on the cover. Kristen Stewart starred in Speak and Catch That Kid in 2004, and Panic Room in 2002 while Evan Rachel Wood’s credentials go back all the way to 1994. So what other reason could they possibly have not to include her? It’s not like the others have had a bigger hit than Avatar. As for Gabby, I think it’s clear why she wasn’t included: she doesn’t fit into today’s mold of what females should look like. She isn’t the skinny light-skinned stunning beauty. But so what? With only one movie, she’s already nominated for the two most prestigious awards in the film industry, a feat not even Anna Kendrick, also an Oscar and Golden Globe nominee, can size up to.

There’s only one reason that I can think of that these two aren’t featured and as we are living in the 21^st century, it’s a shame that we must result to it. This seems to be a deliberate exclusion of African-American women for the sake of sales. After the success of African-American women such as Oprah, Tyra Banks, Beyonce, Halle Berry, Jennifer Hudson, etc., you would think that this wouldn’t be an issue that today’s society should have to deal with but clearly it is, and it should be addressed.

What are your thoughts on Vanity Fair’s cover? Do you agree and think that Gabby and Zoe should have been featured and that they’re clearly trying to fit a stereotype? Or do you think this conclusion is digging too deep and reaching?

“Precious” star Gabourey Sidibe only has one movie role under her belt, but her performance in that one movie earned her a nomination for an Academy Award (as announced yesterday) and a lot of major props amongst her peers in the entertainment industry. This is huge! Just a few weeks after winning a Golden Globe, actress/comedian Mo’Nique has received an Oscar nomination for “Best Supporting Actress” for her role in “Precious!” In addition, breakthrough actress Gabourey Sidibe received a nomination for “Best Actress” and the film’s director Lee Daniels received a nod for “Best Director.” The film itself has two nods of its own as well in the “Best Picture” and “Best Adapted Screenplay” categories. And the film’s editor Joe Klotz received his own nomination in the category of “Best Editing.”

In a call to “The Early Show” on CBS this morning, the actress gushed over her most recent honor. “I’m floating!” she exclaimed. As excited as the actress is over her nomination, she’s well aware that the proof is right there for all to see. “I believe it is about the performance,” she said, concluding, “and the performance is on the screen.” The ever-humble star was also quick to point out that awards of this sort were not the driving force behind making “Precious,” a Sundance 2009 favorite directed by “Monster’s Ball” producer Lee Daniels.

“With the campaigning, we were very much behind the movie,” she said. “The message of this movie is so strong that it changed lives. That’s what we were supportive of, that’s what we wanted to get out there.”

Mo’Nique is nonetheless honored by her nomination. “I’m very honored and grateful that they recognized the performance,” she said. “We didn’t do the project in the feeling of ‘This is going to get us an award.’ We did the project with the feeling of, ‘Oh my god, this will change lives.’ So for this to be happening, it is just — it’s beautiful.”

Over 83 million people tuned in last Friday night (Jan 22) to catch the Hope for Haiti Now telethon, which aired live and commercial-free on several major networks and was also streamed real-time online. The effort was spearheaded by MTV Networks, actor George Clooney and rapper/singer Wyclef Jean (who is from Haiti himself) in an effort to raise awareness and relief for the troubled country of Haiti, who suffered a massive earthquake earlier this month. According to recent numbers, over $61 million in pledges were made by members of the general public. Organizers will continue to take contributions for the next six months.

Celebrities who helped out by either performing or taking phone calls from pledges (or both) included Jay-Z, Rihanna, Bono from U2, Taylor Swift, Denzel Washington, Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson and tons more. Up and coming actress Gabourey Sidibe sat down with syndicated talk show host Ellen DeGeneres a couple of weeks ago in an interview to promote her new Oscar worthy movie “Precious,” set to hit theaters nationwide this December.

We love us some Gabby! Her bubbly personality jumped at us before she even sat on the couch. When Ellen introduced her she came out and danced to Ne-Yo‘s “Closer” song, later revealing that she and a friend choreographed the whole thing weeks ago before she even knew she would be on Ellen. Big girl got some moves too!

But our favorite part of the interview would have to be towards the end (about 5 minutes into it) when she recalled a funny story about a reporter asking her to give a 30 second preview of her Oscar speech, you know, just “in case” she wins one. And she talked about how she freaked out and accidentally blew up at the reporter.

Ellen: There’s so much Oscar buzz going on and you’ve gotta be excited about that

Gabby: I try not to think about it really because it’s so premature, so it’s crazy to think about. I just did the London Film Festival and a reporter asked me, “Can you give us a 30 second preview of your Oscar speech?” and I freaked out, like on camera! I was like, “Give me a 30 second preview of your Oscar speech!” I almost punched her in the mouth, I was so mad! [laughing]

Actress Taraji P. Henson presented newcomer Gabourey Sidibe with the “New Hollywood Award” during the 13th annual Hollywood Awards Gala Monday night (Oct 26).

The annual event, held this year at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, gives recognition to Hollywood filmmakers and actors; and Gabourey’s breakthrough role as Clareece “Precious” Jones in the new movie Precious allowed her to receive this award.

The New York Times has a preview on the upcoming movie “Precious” directed by Lee Daniels (producer of Oscar-winning film “Monster’s Ball”). The movie stars Mo’Nique, Paula Patton, Mariah Carey, and newcomer Gabourey Sidibe, pictured above on the cover of the Times. The article explores not only the story of Precious but also process that it took to make this film. From having studios reject the story to casting Gabourey Sidibe and Mo’Nique as her “demon” mother. The article also goes into the inspiration behind the film. As the script was being written, Daniels began to figure out the financing of the movie. “Getting Sapphire’s permission was only half the challenge,” Daniels explained. “ ‘Shadowboxer’ hadn’t done so well, so I found myself back at Square 1. It was very, very hard to get financing for ‘Precious.’ All the studios said no. They didn’t want to make a film about a 350-pound black girl who is abused. Everybody kept saying no. My whole life was no. It was just a bunch of nos.”

[Lee] Daniels says that he was a victim of abuse, that he was beaten by his father, a policeman. “He wanted Lenny to be tough,” Daniels’s Aunt Dot, who is his father’s sister, told me. “Leonardo is Lee’s given name, and we all call him Lenny. I think Lenny was gay from the time he was a baby, and his father saw him walking and acting real feminine, and he wanted Lenny to be tough. He tried to get him into boxing. He was verbally cruel. He cracked the whip.”

“Precious” is a world without glitz, glamour — or, for the most part, men. Daniels convinced his actresses to leave their vanity behind. “I asked Mo’Nique to grow a couple of pimples,” Daniels recalled. “And I asked her not to shave under her arms, and she went there for me.” Mariah Carey’s role was originally offered to Helen Mirren, who had scheduling conflicts. Carey and Daniels are close friends — he calls her Kitten, and she calls him Cotton — and he offered her the part on the condition that she show up at the set alone (no entourage) in a taxi (no limo) and freshly scrubbed (no makeup). “People say to me, ‘You are so ugly in this movie,’ and I take that as a compliment.”

After winning three awards, “Precious” was finally bought by a distributor. “I had shown the movie in L.A. to my manager, and he didn’t respond positively,” Daniels said. “My manager, who is white, said, ‘I’m sorry, but I don’t think anybody is going to see this movie.’ That man is no longer my manager.”
