R&B singer Fantasia is preparing to release her third album, led by the first single “Even Angels” which she premiered on Oprah earlier this month. Four new songs have leaked from her recording sessions and it’s safe to say that Fantasia is staying true to her R&B roots. While they all sound very radio-friendly, with the way the music industry is headed today we’re not sure if they’re amazing enough to put her back on top. Fantasia took to Oprah earlier today to perform her new single “Even Angels.” The song will be the first single off her new album, set to hit stores soon! Fantasia does a great job and vocally, she sounds amazing. We’re really hoping her label was right in picking this song for her first single though. It’s a much calmer Fantasia but hopefully her old fans will stay with her while she gains new ones.

Fantasia is finally back with a new single! It seems she lost the fight to have “Move On Me” be her first single from her upcoming album but we think her new single “Even Angels” is just as good. The mid-tempo track is produced by The Stereotypes and while it’s still got the R&B feel and sound to it, we see this possibly, with the right promotion, crossing over to the Pop charts!

The track is available now on iTunes and Fantasia will be on Oprah tomorrow to talk about her life and to debut her new single.

Word on the sidewalk is that Fantasia is supposedly dating a married man she met at a T-Mobile store in Charlotte, NC. Sources revealed to The YBF back in November that Fanny met a guy named Antwaun Cook at his T-Mobile store in North Carolina (he’s a salesman) and at the time, he was legally married. He and his wife are now in the process of getting a divorce, but a source very close to Cook said that he didn’t file for divorce until after he met Fantasia, which was in August. And by October, Fanny had “Cook” tattooed on her shoulder (click here for evidence) and was giving him VIP access to all her “The Color Purple” shows.

Since then, Fantasia has denied the claims and even went as far as denying that huge tattoo on her shoulder (which she seems to cover up now-a-days).

Yes, [the rumors] were all really cute to me. I guess it was something about a guy from T-Mobile? Inaccurate. He was hot, but I think I’m looking for my own man. There’s no boo in my life, I’m married to my career. Right now I’m not really focused on a boyfriend; we all know what happens when you get them… I have no tattoo on my shoulder, [that rumor] was very well put together! I wear my body out more purposefully now and when I’m walking I see people checking, “Like does she have a tattoo there?” As a matter of fact, I’ve never even [met him] before. I think I’d want to be with a guy who’s in the same tax bracket as I am … or higher!

Sunday, pictures were released of ‘Tasia and Antwaun on vacation in Barbados. And when asked about the situation yet again, Fantasia had this to say:

“I am 25 years old babe. I have friends. Very nice looking friends. It’s time for me to do what everybody’s so used to me talking about “Freeing myself” and “Not gonna beg you no more” and just in bad relationships,” said Fantasia. “You can’t believe everything you hear. If it’s up to everything you’ve heard, I’d would have had five kids, married three times, illiterate, house in foreclosure. You can’t believe everything you hear so watch the show and you get to hear it from the horses mouth.”

R&B singer Fantasia Barrino dropped by BET Studios in NYC Wednesday (Dec 6) to record an episode of 106 & Park. The American Idol alum is in the midst of promoting her new reality show “Fantasia For Real,” set to to mage its debut Monday at 10 pm ET on VH1.

Video of Fanny addressing rumors of her losing her home and Simon Cowell giving her cash to get it back after the break. No word on that “Cook” tattoo on her shoulder though! Nice work on covering it up too. You ain’t slick lol!

She’s done a film, broadway and published a book, alongside winning the coveted title prize during the third season of American Idol and now she’s doing reality TV. Fantasia Barrino’s new VH1 reality series, titled “Fantasia For Real” is set to premiere on January 11th 2010 at 10 pm.

“Everything that I wrote in the book and I did in my movie kept speaking about me not going back to school. I had been talking about it for so long and I now have a 7-year-old daughter and school is big with me,” the singer told BV Buzz. “I go with my 15-year-old brother and I want to show people in my household and every other child that school is important. Fantasia is a 25-year-old young lady that’s out doing her thing and can take the time out to go back and it’s very important because you need that education. I’m gonna do it even if it takes two hours out of my day to sit down with a teacher. I know that I can’t go to school because they’ll probably have a riot in school, but I’m gonna get my diploma.”

Fantasia has been nominated for eight Grammy Awards and has released two albums since Winning American Idol in 2004. The R&B singer’s debut album Free Yourself is certified platinum and her self-titled sophomore effort is currently certified gold. In 2007, she took on the role of Celie in the broadway musical production of Oprah Winfrey’s “The Color Purple” and she starred as herself in the made-for-Lifetime flick “Life Is Not a Fairy Tale.”

The 2009 Soul Train Awards, hosted by Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard, were held earlier this month (Tues. Nov 3) at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta and were aired last night (Sun. Nov 3) on BET. We posted the arrival photos shortly after the show was recorded at the beginning of the month and here are the pictures from inside the show!

Folks like Robin Thicke, Ludacris, Keri Hilson, Fantasia and more performed. Trey Songz and Toni Braxton opened up the show with Braxton’s new single “So Yesterday” and ended their performance with a big ol’ passionate smooch on the lips! Toni says it was all planned and her husband knew about it well in advance so any speculation about that causing the separation between she and her husband is reportedly false.

The American Idol alum will start recording for the currently untitled album as soon as she gets a break from touring in “The Color Purple.” Her songs this time around will reflect the pain she experienced last year; business-wise and relationship-wise.

We’re excited for a new Fantasia album! We think she’s one artist that won’t ditch R&B for the new Pop sound.

We recently came across this performance of Jennifer Hudson and Fantasia performing their “I’m His Only Woman” duet at the Atlanta stop of the Robin Thick/JHud tour and just had to post it! R&B singer Fantasia will return to her reality television roots come early 2010 when she stars in a new unscripted series on VH1, who is well known for their reality shows. Her first experience with reality television was when she was a contestant on FOX’s hit singing competition show American Idol.

“Fantasia has one of the most fascinating stories in show business, from her tough upbringing to her meteoric rise on the national scene thanks to American Idol,’” Jeff Olde, executive vp original programming at VH1 said.

“Her challenges from fame and her unwillingness to fail have combined to create a larger-than-life talent who appeals to music lovers around the world. So many people wanted to work with her on this, but Fantasia is now part of the VH1 family, and we’re so happy to have her.”

But you can’t blame her because she has a lot to be happy about. She saved her home from foreclosure, she’s going on tour with The Color Purple and she has plans on going back to school to get her diploma. Fantasia Barrino says that she’s ready to get some studying in so that she can earn her high school degree. The 24-year-old American Idol star dropped out of high school when she was in the 9th grade.

“I’ve been talking about it for so long,” Fantasia told E! Online. “I have a lot of young people who look up to me, like my 15-year-old brother and 7-year-old daughter. It’s something that I really need to do and that I want to do.”

This is definitely a good look for Fantasia!

It’s been reported that Fantasia Barrino is set to return to her role as Celie in the musical stageplay adaptation of The Color Purple. The play ended its stint at broad a year ago back in February 2008, and is set to run for three months in Washington, D.C. starting June 30th 2009. She will also play dates when the show travels to Chicago and Atlanta as well. A rep for the production would not confirm the casting news.

“I don’t know anything about it, so I can not confirm this story,” said publicist Linda Stewart of It Is Done Communication.

Fantasia figured out a way to get her $1.1 million home back from the company she owed $58,000 in unpaid loans to. According to TMZ, the American Idol winner borrowed the money from Broward Energy Partners to pay taxes. The auction, which was set to go on yesterday, was called off at the last minute by the Charlotte native after she struck a deal with the company to keep her home.

Wow, this economic recession becomes more and more real every day, as news of the rich and famous falling on hard times losing homes, cars, and other royalties erupts. FOX News is reporting that American Idol Fantasia Barrino is losing her Charlotte, NC mansion and has put it up for auction as the result of not being able to afford taxes from 2006. The home, valuted at $1.1 million, will go on sale in January 2009.

Court documents show that Florida-based Broward Energy Partners agreed to pay more than $68,000 of Barrino’s taxes in October 2006. She repaid $10,000, but a judge later allowed the company to recover the full loan. It’s unclear why the home was chosen as compensation.

A company attorney didn’t return a message Tuesday, and Fantasia’s record label, J Records, had no comment.

Lil Wayne is featured on the cover of the September 2008 issue of Blender Magazine. The Carter III, the latest album from the popular rapper is currenlty sitting in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 with over 2 million albums sold, in just under a few months!

Rumored couple Fantasia and Young Dro arrive hand-in-hand on the red carpet of the 50th annual Grammy Awards, which air tonight Live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on CBS at 8 PM EST. Fantasia, who is a nominee for “Best Female R&B Vocal Perforformance,” can be seen rocking her new skunk-like hairdo that has been receiving a lot of positive and negative comments over the past few days. Musiq Soulchild, who is a nominee for “Best Male R&B Vocal Performance” also made an appearance on the red carpet.

FANTASIA AND HER 6-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER ZION

According to a few sources, over the past 9 months Fantasia has been missing a few shows (50+ to be exact lol) due to exhaustion/being sick. Needless to say, the folks at Broadway weren’t happy. When the star doesn’t show, a stand-in fills in for them, and the people who attend the show are entitled to a refund. So they lose a lot of money when this happens. But anyhow, back to the rumor. Apparently the NY Post’s Michael Riedel added to the story stating that the American Idol winner was pregnanty with Young Dro’s baby, making it seem like that was the reason why she was missing all of the shows. Fantasia has since then come out and clarified all of the misconceptions with a statement:

It is true that she has missed some performances because she has gotten sick from time to time over the nine months, but doing eight shows a week is a lot so she missed a few.

Fantasia, who already has a 6-year-old daughter, Zion Quari, is scheduled to end her extended Broadway run as Miss Celie on January 6th. Chaka Khan and Bebe Winans join the cast as Sofia and Harpo on January 9th. Check out our clear up of the rest of the rumors after the jump!

FYI: Damn, it feels great to be back! Where the hell was I you ask? Well, to make a long story short, there was some digging on some property beside my house and the workers cut right through our cable line, leaving us without television and internet for the past 30 hours! Yeah, I was bored as hell, but luckily I had my BOONDOCKS SEASON 1 DVD to ease the pain. Obviously I couldn’t update here so I hope you didn’t miss me too much! Anyhow, for the next day or so I’ll be “playing catch-up” to post the things I missed out on in my blockage of the outside world (no tv and no internet is NO FUN … trust me!) J Records platinum recording artist and American Idol season 3 winner Fantasia Barrino is apparantly taking a short break from Broadway and currently shooting a video for her next single, “When I See You” in New York City! The video is being directed by Lenny Bass. He’s been in the game for a while, but he is pretty unknown. He’s done videos for Ruben Studdard (Change Me), It’s Goin Down (Yung Joc), and even “Free Yourself” by Fantasia!
