After much speculation, Lifetime has confirmed that Lindsay Lohan will play iconic actress Elizabeth Taylor in their biopic about the late actress’s life.

Lifetime Networks’ executive vice president of programming Rob Sharenow said in a released statement, “We are thrilled Lindsay will portray beloved Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor. She is one of the rare actresses who possesses the talent, beauty and intrigue to capture the spirit of such a provocative icon.”

In the movie, called “Liz and Dick,” Lohan will play Taylor during her famed relationship with actor Richard Burton. The two fell for each other when they met on the set of “Cleopatra.”

They left their spouses, married, divorced, remarried and divorced again! (Sounds like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie on steroids)

In a statement, 25-year-old “Mean Girls” actress Lindsay said of landing the role, “I have always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor. She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well. I am very honored to have been asked to play this role.”

Lindsay is also set to star in an upcoming episode of hit TV show “Glee” where she will play herself judging the glee club at the national show choir competition.

Looks like Lindsay’s so-called ‘failed comeback’ on Saturday Night Live paid off after all.

Yesterday afternoon (Thurs. Mar 24), helicopters hovered and security was tight as Elizabeth Taylor’s family gathered to pay their respects to the iconic Hollywood legend who passed away earlier this week.

But even death couldn’t prevent the starlet from arriving to her own memorial service in style:

“She even wanted to be late for her own funeral”, Taylor’s publicist Sally Morrison said of her late client’s request to start the service 15 minutes tardy, following the Tinseltown icon’s funeral at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles Thursday.

Five black limousines were seen driving into Forest Lawn Memorial Park for the private 2 p.m. service. Taylor was laid to rest within the Great Mausoleum, which is also the final resting place for Clark Gable, Jean Harlow and Taylor’s close friend, Michael Jackson. In keeping with Jewish tradition, Taylor was buried within 48 hours of her death.

Taylor’s survivors include her daughter with Richard Burton, Maria Burton-Carson; her daughter with Michael Todd, Liza Todd-Tivey; her two sons with Michael Wilding, Christopher and Michael; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

FYI: Tonight in New York City, the lights on Broadway theaters will go dark for one minute to honor Taylor.

The recent passing of Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor has made another iconic figure especially concerned about her own mortality. Zsa Zsa Gabor was rushed to the hospital yesterday immediately upon hearing the news that her good friend Liz Taylor had died. Her husband, Frederic Prinz von Anhalt, says that she is under the impression that she will be “the next” to go.

At age 94, Zsa Zsa Gabor, who has spent the past several years in and out of the hospital because of a number of ailments, believes she might die very soon. “Zsa Zsa said, ‘Celebrities go in threes and I’m next,’” her husband, Frederic Prinz von Anhalt, told RadarOnline.com.

Although von Anhalt didn’t make clear who the other person in the group of three is, fellow old Hollywood star Jane Russell died just a few weeks ago on Feb. 28.

The news of Taylor’s death Wednesday made Gabor “hysterical,” her husband said, and her blood pressure “went through the roof.” She was consequently taken by ambulance to UCLA Medical Center, which she had just left on March 4 after refusing to have her left leg amputated.

Most of her right left was amputated in January because of an infection. Her husband said earlier this month that Gabor had a “50-50 chance” of surviving another year without the operation. (Source)

Hollywood has lost another legend…

Elizabeth Taylor died this morning (Wed. Mar 23) following a 2-month stint in a Los Angeles hospital. The actress was undergoing treatment for congestive heart failure at the time of her death.

“My mother was an extraordinary woman who lived life to the fullest with great passion, humor and love,” said Michael Wilding in a statement read on Good Morning America. “Though her loss is devastating to those of us who held her so close and so dear, we will always be inspired by her enduring contributions to our world.”

Taylor, who was considered one of the greatest actresses of all-time, starred in classic movies like “Cleopatra” and “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof”. She won several major awards over the span of her career, including an Academy Award for best actress twice for her roles in “Butterfeld 8″ and “Who’s Afraid of Virgina Woolf?”

Taylor dealt with various health problems over the years, including issues regarding congestive heart failure. In February 2011 new symptoms related to congestive heart failure caused her to be admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles for treatment. Midway through the month, it was reported that the legendary actress was being kept in the hospital for monitoring.

According to today’s reports, Elizabeth Taylor was surrounded by her four children — Michael Wilding, Christopher Wilding, Liza Todd and Maria Burton — when she “peacefully” passed away at Cedars-Sinai Hospital. She was 79 years old.

Good news. Elizabeth’s Taylor‘s health is improving!

Just last week, the ailing actress checked into a Los Angeles hospital after experiencing congestive heart failure symptoms. But now she is showing remarkable improvement, according to People Magazine.

“Since being admitted, there has been steady improvement in her condition, and over the weekend she has had visits from family and close friends,” says a statement from reps for the legendary actress, 78, who suffers from an ongoing heart condition. “Her medical team is gratified by her progress to date, and it is hoped and expected that this will continue over the next few days. For now, she will remain under their care in the hospital for continued monitoring.”

While Taylor is enjoying visits from those close to her, “she is sleeping and resting a lot, which she really needs to recover her strength,” the star’s rep Sally Morrison tells PEOPLE. “Due to symptoms of congestive heart failure, she is still being monitored and continues to need rest to recover her strength. She did not have a heart attack.”

Symptoms of congestive heart failure include difficulty breathing and fluid in the lungs.

Taylor, who underwent heart surgery in October 2009, appreciates support of her loyal fans. As the statement continues: “Friends and fans around the world should be reassured that Elizabeth Taylor is in good hands and receiving the best possible care from her skilled and dedicated doctors and nurses.”

Nearly three months after his surprising death, Michael Jackson was finally laid to rest Thursday evening (Sep 3) in an intimate ceremony only attended by close family and friends at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, located in the Glendale district of Los Angeles. According to reports, guests were told the ceremony would start promptly at 7 P.M. (sunset) but the Jackson family left them waiting for about an hour until they showed up a little after 8 P.M. (PT).

Jackson’s brothers, Randy, Marlon, Tito, Jackie and Jermaine, wheeled his gold casket to the front of the service once they arrived, and his three children, Prince Michael, Paris and Prince Michael Jr., placed a gold crown on top of the flowers adorning it. They also wrote letters to their father that were placed inside of his casket, alongside one of his signature white gloves.

Celebrities among the attending guests were, of course, the Jackson family, Chris Tucker, Elizabeth Taylor, Quincy Jones, Berry Gordy, Macaulay Culkin, Rev. Al Sharpton, MJ’s ex wife Lisa Marie Presley and Gladys Knight, who sang a gospel song after a prayer by Pastor Lucius Smith. Clifton Davis also performed “Never Can Say Goodbye,” the popular song he wrote for the Jackson 5. After the ceremony was over, MJ’s brothers carried his casket to the Grand Mausoleum, where Michael Jackson entered his final resting place.

After the service, the family ate dinner at an Italian restaurant in Pasadena, CA.
