Over 83 million people tuned in last Friday night (Jan 22) to catch the Hope for Haiti Now telethon, which aired live and commercial-free on several major networks and was also streamed real-time online. The effort was spearheaded by MTV Networks, actor George Clooney and rapper/singer Wyclef Jean (who is from Haiti himself) in an effort to raise awareness and relief for the troubled country of Haiti, who suffered a massive earthquake earlier this month. According to recent numbers, over $61 million in pledges were made by members of the general public. Organizers will continue to take contributions for the next six months.

Celebrities who helped out by either performing or taking phone calls from pledges (or both) included Jay-Z, Rihanna, Bono from U2, Taylor Swift, Denzel Washington, Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson and tons more. In the issue, the couple, who tied the knot last Spring at a commitment ceremony in Africa, discuss how they met and how they make their non-traditional marriage work. The newlyweds also talked about a few other things, including their family life and how supportive Russell Simmons (Kimora’s first husband and the father of her two daughers) has been of their relationship. DJIMON ON THE NIGHT THEY MET: “She turned around and said, ‘Hi, my name is Kimora Lee,’ and I said ‘Right, you don’t need to introduce yourself. I am quite aware of who you are.’…We were having a deep conversation about our families, about kids, about this and that…And then the eyes meet….and I realized, there’s so much more to her. I never thought she would be as grounded as she seemed that night…As I was giving her my number, I said, ‘Well, I hope you would enjoy the number for something other than your fashion shows or get-togethers or parties…First thing in the morning, I sent her a text. I wanted to catch her because she was to leave and go back to New York. I wanted to get, as we say, a good conversation in before she took off. I sent a text and said, ‘Hey, if you are up for dinner…’ And that’s how we started it. I said to her, ‘You’re one very successful woman. You have it great. You have two kids. You are married to one of the most iconic men in the world (Kimora and Russell were separated before she and Djimon met). What else could you need? Or want?’ I was much more skeptical of where she was coming from than I was about what I had to offer. I realized that she was looking for a great foundation as far as relationships are concerned and that really hit me. No woman has ever made me feel the way she makes me feel. She makes me dream big.”

KIMORA ON DJIMON: “He’s just different. I can’t explain it. If you meet Djimon, to know his personality and his sentiment. (she sighs) I don’t know. He’s just different spiritually. I just never would have thought a life could be possible like this. Me and Djimon can be in a room full of people or we can be in a room alone and we maintain a connection. I feel like he’s my long-lost friend. Something about him is really nourishing for my soul and makes me very happy. I don’t feel like I’m keeping up with any Joneses. I don’t feel like my hair or my clothes have to be a certain way. I don’t feel like I need anything. I feel like I’m more than a complete person, Djimon really completes me. I feel like my life has fallen into the right place in a great way. I’ve been very slow and deliberate, and I feel like it has paid off for me in ways that I could not have imagined.”

KIMORA ON HER & RUSSELL’S BREAK-UP: “Russell and I had a great relationship….but I think coping with or adjusting to my life, which was becoming very big and very busy was tough for him. When you get older, when you get wiser, when you get busier, when you start to create a career for yourself, a life for yourself, I think that certain issues or topics or indiscretions or whatever you want to call them are not going to be OK as when you were a teenager in love. Nothing’s the same when you hit that mid-20s, late-20s stage. And when you’re in your 30s, you kind of know what you want for yourself. I felt like I owed it to myself and to my children to obtain the best life possible. People may have thought the break-up was because my personality is so much bigger than life. I’m loud. I’m over the top, whatever. I’m a family girl with children, and that’s really the goal and the life I want for myself. I have everything a girl could ever want. I have everything that you could buy. I have every diamond in ever color. That’s not important to me now. I have it all and I could do fine without it. And that’s what’s important to know. I cannot say that Russell wants something different, but I want different in a partner. I expect different in a partner. I expect an equal playing field when it comes to matters of family and raising children.”

SCANS/EXCERPTS VIA: BLACK CELEBRITY MEN

I just got finished watching Push…… Not what I was expecting. I mean I have a fatal attraction to movies so I’ll watch just about any of them, but this one is pushing it… The plot takes a while to develop and characters pop up all over the place. Honestly the whole “superhuman race” and “being hunted by some super secret agency” reminded me of “Jumper.” I found myself drifting in and out of consciousness during this movie, though the actors did do a good job in making the film actually worthwhile and a bit bearable.

Djimon Hounsou, Dakota Fanning, the always sexy Ming-Na, and Chris Evans all gave outstanding performances. It just goes to show that a good movie needs both a good plot as well as a good cast. Don’t get me wrong the film was decent but that’s it. It was jus “decent.” So if you have nothing else to do with one of your evenings, why not watch it? It’d probably be a good waste of time. That being so, I gotta give this one a 5.5/10.

Fashion designer Kimora Lee and her actor/model fiancee Djimon Honsou welcomed a baby boy into the world Saturday (May 30) at a hospital in Los Angeles. She announced her first son’s birth via her Twitter page, saying “It’s a boy! Thanks to everyone out there for all your well wishes!” She and Djimon decided to name the baby, whom they call their “little prince,” Kenzo.

Little Kenzo is Kimora’s third child and joins his big sisters Ming Lee (age 9) and Aoki Lee (6), whom Kimora both had with her hip-hop mogul ex husband Simmons. The two divorced in 2008 but remain friends and business partners. Kenzo Lee Honsou, named after famous Japanese fashion designer Kenzo Takada, is 45-year-old Honsou’s first child. Congrats to the couple on the new addition to their family!

Us Magazine is reporting that fashion diva Kimora Lee Simmons and actor Djimon Honsou are pregnant!

Kimora Lee Simmons and actor Djimon Hounsou are expecting their first child together, a source close to the couple tells Usmagazine.com. Simmons, 33, has two daughters, Ming Lee, 8, and Aoki Lee, 6, with hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons, whom she divorced in 2008 after nearly 10 years of marriage.

“I have a lot of hang-ups in life with men. I’m not very trusting,” she told Harper’s Bazaar last year. “After my breakup, I thought, ‘I don’t need anything.’”

But after meeting Hounsou in February 2007, she said, “I have someone who has the heart, the soul, and the hotness.” Added Hounsou , “My first impression has always been the same, that she’s a very beautiful lady, very capable and intelligent and smart with great family values. She’s the least high-maintenance lady I’ve ever dated.”

Asked if she wanted more kids, Simmons told Us last September, “I would love to. I practice everyday.”

Congrats to the couple. We can’t wait to see what baby Honsou’s gonna look like.

Kimora Lee Simmons finally has her long-sought-after bun in the oven. The demanding diva has been trying for a child with her lover, Djimon Honsou, and sources say the two have finally made magic. “She’s pregnant,” a source told us. A rep for Simmons couldn’t get a hold of her client for five days. Simmons already has two children, Ming and Aoki, by ex-husband Russell Simmons.

2007 is coming to a close, and we here at Think2wice thought it would be the perfect time to highlight some of the greatest moments, people, etc. of the past year! First up, is “Favorite Couples.” And you guessed it, Jay-Z and Beyonce are perched at the top of this list! These two cause a stir in the gossip blogs whenever their names are mentioned. It’s gotten to the point where we’ve given them one name … Jayonce. Despite both of their busy schedules, Jayonce still finds the time to spend time with each other, whether it be a sporting event, a week-long vacation, or just having dinner at one of NYC’s top restaurants. Recently, rumors sparked of the two being married after people spotted matching tattoos on their ring fingers (IV – “FOURever” ??), but those rumors were immediately shot down by one of Jay-Z’s reps. Who knows … they probably are married! Hell, didn’t Janet keep her marriage to that guy from the public for like 10 or more years? Anyhow, hate it or love it, Beyonce and Jay-Z are with each other for the long run, as long as they keep their relationship as private as it has been for the past 4 years.

T.I. & TINY

A “Favorite Couples” post could not exist without the presence of Clifford and Tameka. Oh, excuse me … T.I. and Tiny. These two have been off and on for some time now, and a lot of folks like seeing them together. They have a son together, and are rumored to have another one on the way. Earlier in the year, Tameka lost their would-be second child due to an unfortunate miscarriage. Ironically, a few days before this, the two were reported to have separated, but a week or so later … were back together again. No one knows if or when they will get married, but we all know that they genuinely love each other. Tiny even got arrested with her man! Now if that’s not a “ride or die chick” I don’t know what is. Sadly, we may not see these two together for the next few years. T.I. is currently on house arrest, and it looks like he’ll be getting at least 5 years in a Federal prison on weapons charges. But that’s only speculation. Only time will tell what the future holds for T.I. & Tiny.

NELLY & ASHANTI

I don’t know if they are in denial, don’t want us to know about them, or really are “just friends,” but Nelly and Ashanti sure do spend a lot of time together. Their whereabouts aren’t publicized like the afore mentioned, but never-the-less, these two make a great couple. There are (old) rumors circulating that their relationship is nothing more than a big ol’ publicity stunt, but you know out-of-hand some rumors get. There have been a few occasions where the two have been spotted out and about with each other on vacation, shopping at a jewelry store, hanging out in Beverly Hills, and even a few parties/random events. No one is sure when they’ll announce their relationship, but then again, Jay-Z and Beyonce never did. It’s just something everyone “knew” after a while. And so far, no one “knows 100%” whether Ashanti and Nelly are dating. But they are pretty close =)

NAS & KELIS

I like to call this couple the “other Jay-Z and Beyonce.” Nas has a pretty big hip-hop career and Kelis was the first girl to scream on a track. Since their marriage in January 2005, these two have made their rounds in celebrity gossip. Nas and Kelis first hooked up in 2002 at Diddy’s VMA after-party. They got engaged Christmas 2002 at Kelis’ mom’s home and shortly after that had an X-Rated duet together (“In Public” on Kelis’ Tasty album). Even though we all love this couple, they tend to keep themselves out of the spotlight, and for good reason. Couples in the spotlight tend to get burned by that kind of exposure and end up splitting. But their love is so genuine that I don’t see that happening anytime soon. In the future you’ll be able to check them out in their reality TV show (not sure when that will be hitting television), and come February 2008 Nas will be all over the media when he releases his new album, “Nigger.”

50 CENT & CIARA

Here’s another couple who wants to keep the media out of their business. Their rumored relationship dates back to earlier this year (June to be exact), and was “confirmed” (I guess you can say that) in July with the “I Can’t Leave ‘Em Alone” video. If you ask either of the two, they say that they’re “just friends,” but as you know … we don’t believe them, they need more people! Every girl wants a bad boy, and Ciara definitely picked the baddest of the bad. A big step-up – if you wanna call it that – from her previous “boyfriend” Bow Wow.

USHER & … TAMEKA

Let me preface this by stating that I don’t condone this relationship what-so-ever, but we couldn’t leave the newlyweds out of the mix. Usher and Tameka have known each other for a while. She upgraded from stylist to wife in a period of a little more than a year. For a while it seemed as though Usher wasn’t planning to marry anyone after his big break-up with Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas of TLC, but I guess we were all proved wrong. The year 2007 was crazy when it came to Usher and Tameka news. First, it was the surprise engagement. Then, there was the “rumor” (later confirmed) that Mama Patton (Usher’s mom) didn’t like Tameka. Next up were the allegations of her being a fraud and all of that jazz, then there came the pregnancy, and the shot-gun, but slightly lavish wedding that took place in Atlanta, even though the two were originally to be married in a huuuge NY ceremony the week before. And last, but not least, was the birth of their first child together, Usher Raymond V. Supposedly Usher’s releasing an album sometime next year, so there’s no telling what 2008 will hold for the odd couple.

KANYE WEST & ALEXIS PHIFER

The fashionisto, and the fashionista. A lot of people, including the late Dr. Donda West, like to see these two together. Earlier this year, this is what she had to say about her future daughter-in-law.

I think she’s a very outstanding young woman. She’s quite talented, very intelligent, very creative. Very sweet, thoughtful, generous. I can’t think of one negative thing I would say about her, even in private! The best thing that I love about her is that she loves my son. You can’t beat that.

It has been reported that in an effort to fulfill one of his mom’s last wishes, Kanye plans on marrying Alexis very soon. And you know when they do, it’s going to make big headlines.

MTV personality LaLa Vazquez and Denver Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony have been dating for a while (a long while) and have been engaged for nearly 2 years. He proposed to her New Years Eve 2005, and since then, the two have brought a baby boy into the world. Kiyan Anthony was born in March of this year. When are they going to get married, and what the hell are they waiting for? Maybe they’ll see wedding bells in 2008 … or maybe not. We’ll just have to wait and see.
