Rapper Jay-Z brought out the big guns when he performed Friday night (Sep 11) in New York City’s famed arena, Madison Square Garden for the “Answer the Call” 9/11 benefit concert. The Brooklyn, NYC born and raised hip-hop icon performed some of his biggest hits from his old albums and some new songs from his most recent album, The Blueprint 3. Rihanna, Kanye West, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Diddy, Pharrell, Swizz Beatz, John Mayer, Kid Cudi and Santigold joined Jay-Z on stage during the sold-out concert. All proceeds from the show went to the New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund.
Mama Tina was even in the crowd showing her son-in-law some love and throwing up the Roc sign!
Hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs was spotted leaving a restaurant in downtown Manhattan Tuesday afternoon (Sep 8).
Diddy recently confirmed to MTV that he’s been in talks with Ma$e about possibly making a return to Bad Boy Records, but he says he’s not looking to add anymore artists to the label’s roster right now.
“Mase has called me,” Diddy said. “We’ve spoken. He’s basically said, ‘Just keep your eye on me. Making this switch, I gotta kinda bear this cross for a second. Just watch what I do.’ I said, ‘I’ve seen.’ He’s definitely one of the dopest MCs to ever touch the game. People can’t deny that. He’s one of the most successful. I’ve seen people come back from different things in this game. I said, ‘Yeah. Without a doubt, I’ll keep my eye on you.’ I spoke to him today. He’s out there working.
“With the future of Bad Boy, I definitely think it’s time for me to come up with a game plan,” he said. “A lot of things have changed. I have a great legacy I have to protect. I’m taking some time. I don’t wanna sign anything new. I wanna focus on this Janelle Monáe album, on this Cassie album, on this Last Train to Paris. Those are the albums I’m focusing on. I’m not making anything new. I wanna come up with a game plan that works going forward with the future of Bad Boy.”
As you should already know, Diddy has formed a new group called Dirty Money with singers Dawn Richards and Kalenna. The group is for his new album Last Train to Paris and the video for the lead single “Angels” feat. Biggie has been released. Peep the Hype Williams directed black and white video after the break.
Diddy’s new group, Dirty Money, are set to release their debut music video any day now. But in the meantime, here’s a 53 second teaser for “Angels” (feat. Notorious B.I.G.). Dirty Money is a trio consisting of Diddy, Dawn Richard (formerly of Danity Kane) and another singer named Kalenna. Diddy decided to form this group to accompany his upcoming 5th studio album, Last Train to Paris, set to drop November 24th via his Bad Boy Records imprint. Check out the sneak peak of the video below!
Cassie and Diddy, pictured above with designer Zac Posen, attended a special screening for “The September Issue” Wednesday (Aug 19) in New York City. Could Cassie and Diddy not make their “relationship” any more obvious?
Other famous faces who hit up the screening were supermodels Jessica White and Chanel Iman, who was pictured sucking face with her boyfriend. Actress Sienna Miller also attended the special NYC screening of the film.
And the drama between rapper Yung Joc and Diddy’s Bad Boy record label continues…
In an exclusive interview with Rolling Out, Joc is speaking on why he hasn’t come out with an album yet, among other things. The Bad Boy recording artist first showed that he wasn’t happy with his label earlier this year because of unpaid royalties and a lack of promotion. He also publicly revealed that he had plans on filing a lawsuit against Diddy’s Bad Boy label and Block Entertainment.
“Honestly, there is no current situation with Bad Boy right now,” the rapper said. “We’ve been in talks of me being possibly released. I just don’t think at the present time that regime is the right outfit for me at the moment, considering I work very hard as an artist and I’m still in the position where I’m not able to put out my music because of some conflicts of interest…”

Hip-hop mogul Diddy has got himself into a bit of trouble! His Bad Boy recording label has been sued for copyright infringement by a singer named Kirby Shields. Kirby alleges that his song “I’m Just Getting Started” is identical to Day 26’s “Just Getting Started” record, which is featured on their sophomore album Forever In A Day.
But peep this! Shields says the track was produced by Christian Davis Stalnecker, a producer he hired to work “exclusively” for him back in 2007. So now you may have a case of a producer selling the same record to two different artists! And we’re sure Diddy, Bad Boy and Day 26 had no idea, which makes this whole thing that much more crazier.
Take a listen to the two songs to hear the obvious similarities below!
Diddy recently posted a video on his official YouTube page introducing his new group Dirty Money. The group, which consists of former Danity Kane member Dawn, a new singer named Kalenna and the Bad Boy head honcho himself, will be featured on Diddy’s upcoming Last Train to Paris album. Peep the video below:
