Monica and her fiance Shannon Brown invited their closest friends to help celebrate Shannon’s 25th birthday Sunday night (Dec 5) at The Colony in Hollywood. The guestlist included Brown’s Los Angeles Lakers teammates Derek Fisher and Ron Artest, along with DeRay Davis and Steph Jones. Shannon was presented with a #12 Lakers Jersey cake during the latter part of the festivities.

The 2010 ESPY Awards were held yesterday (Wed. Jul 14) in Los Angeles, CA. And celebs like Amber Rose, Mario (who brought along his new girlfriend Dez), Terrell Owens, Chris Bosh, Kenyon Martin, Hank Baskett & Kendra Wilkinson, Zac Efron and more all walked the red carpet before making their way into the Nokia Theater L.A. Live for the ESPYs, which, hosted by sports network ESPN, honors the best athletes and teams in the world of sports. Reggie Bush also attended the Espys Wednesday evening, but chose not to arrive to the show with his rumored new girlfriend Amber Rose, who made her presence known on the red carpet with a bright yellow dress.

The 2010 Espys also featured a performance from singer Janelle Monae, who also participated in a funny skit with actor/comedian Will Ferrell (equipped with one of those loud, annoying vuvuzelas). Don’t hang up (or burn) your #2 Lakers jerseys just yet. Derek Fisher tells TMZ that he’s gonna stay with the Los Angeles Lakers! We reported yesterday that Fisher had been talking with Miami Heat officials about the possibility of him joining Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Chris Bosh and the rest of the Heat next season. Now Fisher has finally made up his mind about who he’s playing for next year. Check out what he told TMZ below:

“I have decided to continue with Kobe, continue with our teammates and the fans of Los Angeles. While this may not be the most lucrative contract I’ve been offered this off season, it is the most valuable. At the end of the day, there’s one person I could not turn away from. Kobe Bryant asked me to stay but supported whatever decision I made. He and I have played together for 11 seasons, came into the league together as kids, and has been loyal to me even when others had doubts.”

Even after getting their star player Dwyane Wade to stick around and scoring LeBron James and Chris Bosh as brand new additions, the Miami Heat still aren’t done recruiting new team members. Word on the sidewalk is that Los Angeles Laker Derek Fisher is being courted by several members of the Heat organization (including team players) to join their roster for the next season. Miami Heat president Pat Riley met with Fisher Saturday (Jul 10) but he declined to comment on what went on behind closed doors.

Fisher, who has 5 championship rings, is currently a free agent and is shopping around for the best deal. He’s said to already have an offer on the table from the Lakers but we hear it isn’t the best deal, so Miami might actually have a chance with him!

Fisher has been a Los Angeles Laker for some time now and has taken part in all five of their championships in the Kobe Bryant Area. After they won their second straight title last month, Fisher said that he would come back to L.A. while Bryant declared that he wouldn’t allow his teammate to play anywhere else. So it will definitely be interesting to see what decision Derek Fisher makes in the end.

Guess we’ll just have to wait and see…

The Los Angeles Lakers redeemed themselves with a victory last night (Tues. Jun 8) at the TD Bank North Garden in Boston Game 3 and are now leading the series (2-1) against the Boston Celtics. The Lakers took Game 3 by 7 points, ending with 91-84. Derek Fisher was a key component to this win, knocking down difficult shots and making hard plays within the first ten minutes of the 4th quarter. Kobe Bryant, who scored a total of 29 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 blocks, acknowledged the effort his teammate Fisher put up after he wasn’t attempting to score in the 4th quarter:

“Truthfully, he’s done it over and over and over again,” said Bryant, ”So it’s almost his responsibility to our team to do these things.”

Fisher spoke to the media afterwards and explained what fueled his energy in Game 3 Tuesday night:

“Our thoughts are really just still on how disappointed we are, or were, losing that second game on our home court. I think that had more of our attention and focus than what happened in ’08,” Fisher said. “We didn’t doubt our ability to win here. … We understand when you want to be the best, you have to win wherever, whenever.”

The Celtics’ Ray Allen almost broke another record in Game 3 after following his tremendous performance in Game 2, but this time not so great. Allen had a total of 2 points and missed all 13 field goal attempts he put up, excluding his free throws, one field goal attempt of the NBA finals futility record.  While Kevin Garnett improved from his Game 1 and Game 2 performances in Game 3 with 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists, he discussed his disappointment in the lack of offensive strategies that took place Tuesday night:

“It’s very frustrating, very frustrating when you don’t play well offensively,” Garnett said. “But defensively, you know, you sort of buckle down and get the stops and things that you want and you get back into the game only to come up short. he continued ”Yeah, that’s real disappointing.”

Both Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol of the Lakers had a total of 10 rebounds helping the their team progress to victory in Game 3. Tune in to Game 4, Thursday night June 10th in Boston on ABC at 9:00PM/ET. Check out video footage of the recap courtesy of the NBA below!
