When it comes to his beef with Common……Drake says he wants to get past all the negativity. (Even though he helped cause a good bit of it!)

The Young Money star has come forward and apologized to Vanessa Bryant for his diss line in “Stay Schemin.” He also plans to hang up the beef with Common and not make a response track.

On responding to Common:

 ”No. Because despite how it’s been worded by him that situation is not a “hip hop moment” or a “battle for the sake of musical integrity”…it’s a ploy for attention around the release of an album. More than anything it was just disappointing cause what kid isn’t a fan of what Common has done for our genre. A guy who made such an incredible career for himself based off expressing genuine feelings about life and love is now targeting me for sharing my story.”

On dissing Vanessa Bryant:

“That line came from a conversation about being this young and making this much money and the fear of losing it all. I just used his potential situation to address my own life. I never intended to offend Vanessa or anyone else. That line had everything to do with me and what goes on in my head as a 25 year old man with this much income flowing in. Kobe is and always will be a friend and an icon to me.”

Drake isn’t alone in his “awkward” beef with Common.

During an interview on Power 106′s “Big Boy’s Neighborhood,” Cash Money CEO Birdman spoke on the ongoing feud and explained how he supports Drizzy in whatever decision he makes, but doesn’t plan to get involved with dissing other rappers on tracks.

In one of the weirdest rap beefs we’ve seen in a long time…….Drake and Common have been firing shots at each other a lot lately.

But things really started to get intense between the two rappers when Drake dropped a verse dissing Common on Rick Ross’ “Stay Schemin” track.

Shortly after the song was released…..Common responded on the same track and went in on Drizzy’s style, how he’s a punk for dissing Vanessa Bryant, and even made fun at Drake’s obsession with Destiny Child’s “Say My Name.”

VH1 hosted their “Divas 2011″ concert at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City Sunday night (Dec 18).

Among the celebrities who walked the red carpet just before the ceremony took place were R&B singers Jennifer Hudson, Jill Scott and Chaka Khan, as well as rappers 50 Cent and Common, Pop singer Jessie J and country music legend Dolly Parton.

Common was the latest celebrity sit down in Chelsea Handler‘s hot seat on her popular late-night talk show “Chelsea Lately.”

While there, the rapper/actor briefly talked about his new TV show “Hell on Wheels,” as well as his love for big butts, how he memorizes his rap lyrics, his upcoming album, and why he wants revenge against Justin Bieber.

In addition to all of that and more, Common also shared what type of music his 14-year-old daughter listens to, and how she thinks Diggy Simmons is a better rapper than he is.

The 2011 Soul Train Awards were held in Atlanta at the Fox Theater last Thursday night (Nov 17).

Hosted by Cedric the Entertainer, this year’s Soul Train Awards saw appearances from a variety of celebrities, including R&B singer Keri Hilson, model Amber Rose, actor Lance Gross, NeNe Leakes and Cynthia Bailey from the Real Housewives of Atlanta, Tamar Braxton, our blogger friend Necole Bitchie (who won the award for Best Soul Site — CONGRATS!!), and many more.

The show also featured performances from Mindless Behavior, Common, Cee-Lo, Melanie Fiona, Robin Thicke, Eric Benet, Mary Mary, Gladys Knight, Lloyd, Miguel and a few others.

The Soul Train Awards also paid tribute to the late Heavy D midway through the ceremony with a touching video of the rapper accepting a Soul Train award for 1990′s “Big Time,” and performances from Big Daddy Kane, Naughty By Nature, Kurtis Blow and Goodie Mob.

According to XXL, a source close to the deal has confirmed that the Chicago rapper/actor will be releasing his next record on Warner. As of press time a release date is unknown.

Com’s last album, 2008?s Universal Mind Control was put out by Universal. Surprisingly, the Chicago-born MC dropped an EP on iTunes earlier this week along with a new group called Cocaine 80s (consisting of long time producer No. ID and other musicians).

This coming Wednesday the White House will host a rather uncommon guest and his name is … Common!

The Chicago bred MC, who’s real name is Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr. will join First Lady Michelle Obama for poetry night.

The highly publicized dinner has become a must attend event for Hollywood A-lister everywhere.

Despite this being a cause for celebration, Common’s attendance has sparked a bit of  hate among political cronies of the past administration due to his criticism of George “Dubya” in the past. Back in 2007, the Grammy nominated MC spit a few controversial lyrics in  his song “Burn A Bush.”

“With that happening, why they messing with Saddam? Burn a Bush cos’ for peace he no push no button, killing over oil and grease, no weapons of destruction, how can we follow a leader, when this a corrupt one?

Wasn’t like he was lying. Let the haters hate playa … you just worry about doing your thing come Wednesday night. Congrats homie!

Lots of celebrities participated Friday night (Feb 18) in the annual Celebrity All-Star Game. The all-star line-up included Trey Songz, Rob Kardashian, Romeo Miller, Rick Fox and others repping for the West; and Nick Cannon, Common, Scottie Pippen and more representing for the East Coast.

In the end, the East came out victorious (54-49) with Justin Bieber (from the West) scoring the coveted MVP trophy (as voted by the fans). Also spotted at the 2011 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game were Magic Johnson, Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom.

The 10th Annual Jack in the Box Celebrity Shoot-Out went down over the weekend (Sat. Jan 29) in Arizona. Celebs like Chris Brown, Common, Terrence J, Frankie Muniz, Romeo, Pooch Hall (from “The Game”) and more competed against one another in the match, held at the US Airways Center in Phoenix, AZ.

Brown’s team, which included Common, Frankie Muniz and Pooch Hall defeated Romeo’s team, consisting of Terrence J, DJ Clue and fitness guru Billy Blanks. In addition, Chris Brown was named MVP of the game. Proceeds from the shootout were donated to Phoenix Suns Charities and Suns Nite Hoops.

Serena Williams‘ BFF Selita Ebanks recently paid a visit to the Wendy Williams Show and was asked about Serena and Common’s rumored “secret engagement” that allegedly occurred over the Holidays. And while reps for Serena Williams continue to deny the engagement rumors, Ebanks played coy when Wendy Williams grilled her on her friend’s rumored engagement.

“I’m the best friend, and I wouldn’t be the best friend if I told you, so I don’t know … #KanyeShrug” Selita jokingly told Wendy, later adding: “You know what, he would be smart if he did marry her. So, he’d be a very smart man.”
