Rihanna channels a Chinese Geisha girl in a video clip for Coldplay‘s new “Princess of China” single.

The clip should not be confused with the song’s official music video, as it is simply a video played in the backdrop during Coldplay’s live shows.

A spokesperson for the group told MTV News, “It isn’t the official video. It is, in fact, a clip that the band are using during their performance of the song on tour.”

Without revealing a specific release date, the rep also said the video is still being edited and won’t be completed until the end of May.

Rihanna recently filmed the video for “Princess of China,” her collaboration single with Coldplay, and she shared some pictures of her playing dress-up as what she calls a “Gangsta Goth Geisha” on the set.

Rihanna turned the Grammys stage into a big party last night with a highly energetic performance of her “We Found Love” single.

“Grammys, make some noise for Whitney!” Rihanna — dressed in all black — said to the crowd as she danced up a storm.

The tempo soon slowed, and the dancers took off, leaving Rihanna on-stage with just Chris Martin from Coldplay, who provided acoustic guitar accompaniment as the duo performed their collaboration song “Prince of China.”

Coldplay then finished the performance off by bringing the tempo back up and singing their hit song “Paradise.”

The 2011 MTV Europe Awards were held Sunday night (Nov 6) in Belfast, North Ireland.

The show, which was hosted by singer/actress Selena Gomez, is held annually to highlight European music, and also draws A-List stars from the United States. This year’s show featured appearances and performances from Gomez’s boyfriend Justin Bieber, Taio Cruz, David Guetta, Bruno Mars, Ludacris, LMFAO, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and more.

As far as the actual awards were concerned, Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga picked up the most trophies, including best male and best female act. Gaga also won awards for best song and best video for her hit single “Born This Way,” while Bieber picked up the award for best Pop act.

Other awards went to Bruno Mars, Eminem, Katy Perry and British rock band Queen, who received the “Global Icon” lifetime achievement award.

Coldplay teamed up with Pop diva Rihanna for a new song called “Princess of China” that will appear on the rock group’s upcoming fifth studio album “Mylo Xyloto,” due in stores one week from today (Oct 25).

“[Rihanna's] bit on our record is my favorite bit … when the song came out, it sort of asked for her to be on it,” Chris Martin told MTV last month. “And I think at this point, we have nothing to lose, and so we’ve been trying some new things and trying to break down the perceived boundaries between different types of music. … Because from where we’re sitting, it seems like you can try and sound any way you like nowadays. You don’t have to be in a rock box or a hip-hop box or a pop box, and I think it’s fun when you embrace that idea.”

Jay-Z and Coldplay helped the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas celebrate its grand opening at the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Day (Sat. Jan 1) with a live concert held inside the hotel’s Marquee nightclub.

During Jay-Z’s set, he invited Chris Martin from Coldplay and musician John Mayer to the stage, as well as rapper Kanye West to perform alongside him. Jay-Z and his wife Beyonce also sang a duet of his “Forever Young” song later in the evening. Some of the celebrity attendees at the event included Alex Rodriguez, Brandy, Taraji P. Henson, Selita Ebanks, Channing Tatum, Christina Milian and more.

Rappers Jay-Z and Eminem performed in front of a sold out crowd Monday night (Sep 13) at the brand new Yankee Stadium Monday night (Sep 13) in New York City (Jay’s hometown) for their 2-city “Home and Home” tour, marking the first ever performance at the newly opened baseball stadium.

The first two concerts were held in Detroit (Em’s hometown) earlier this month at Comerica Park (PICS HERE!), and Monday night, the Hip-Hop emcees kicked off the NYC leg of the baseball stadium tour with special guests Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Swizz Beatz, Chris Martin from Coldplay and more! Jay’s wife Beyonce even joined in on the fun and performed “Forever Young” with her husband to close out the show, which had a turnout of over 50,000 fans!

R&B singer/songwriter Alicia Keys covered up her baby bump with this puffy, feathered dress as she arrived on the red carpet of the Keep A Child Alive Black Ball in London, England Thursday night (May 27). Alicia and her newly announced fiancee Swizz Beatz were joined by designer Christian Louboutin, actress Thandie Newton, musician Chris Martin, UK group JLS and more at the annual event, held to help raise awareness for Alicia’s charity.

Shortly after the event went down, it was announced that Alicia and Swizzy were not only engaged, but expecting a new baby. While we are still uncertain how far along Alicia is, her rep confirms that she is indeed pregnant and she and Swizz plan to tie the knot “in a private ceremony later this year.”

Over 83 million people tuned in last Friday night (Jan 22) to catch the Hope for Haiti Now telethon, which aired live and commercial-free on several major networks and was also streamed real-time online. The effort was spearheaded by MTV Networks, actor George Clooney and rapper/singer Wyclef Jean (who is from Haiti himself) in an effort to raise awareness and relief for the troubled country of Haiti, who suffered a massive earthquake earlier this month. According to recent numbers, over $61 million in pledges were made by members of the general public. Organizers will continue to take contributions for the next six months.

Celebrities who helped out by either performing or taking phone calls from pledges (or both) included Jay-Z, Rihanna, Bono from U2, Taylor Swift, Denzel Washington, Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson and tons more. Big name stars like Beyonce, Madonna, Jay-Z, Rihanna and more are scheduled to perform in what’s beginning to look like a dress rehearsal for the upcoming 2010 Grammy Awards.

The stars mentioned, among others, will take part in a two-hour televised telethon today (Fri. Jan 22) called “Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief.” The show will air on all major cable networks beginning at 8 p.m. Eastern and will feature musical performances from all over the world from folks like Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Shakira, Taylor Swift, Stevie Wonder, Justin Timberlake and proud Haiti native Wyclef Jean.

The show, which in the United States will begin at 8 p.m. Eastern time on all the major networks and on cable channels, is to feature musical performances from multiple locations: Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Shakira and Wyclef Jean will play in New York, while in London Bono and the Edge of U2 will collaborate with Jay-Z and Rihanna, with Coldplay also slated to perform. The program in Los Angeles is to include performances by Stevie Wonder, Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake and a collaboration among Keith Urban, Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow. Songs from the telethon will be for sale on iTunes for 99 cents beginning Saturday, will all proceeds going to a number of relief organizations.

Jay-Z turned 40 last Friday (Dec 4) and celebrated the occasion with a really big (but VERY private) party in the Dominican Republic, thrown by his wife Beyonce and attended by big name celebrities like Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys, Kanye West, Diddy, Ne-Yo, Oprah Winfrey, Lil Wayne and more. Troubled golfer Tiger Woods was also invited but was not in attendance due to his current situation with his wife and his 10 women.

Actresss Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin from Coldplay were also missing from the crowd but sent a video message congratulating Jay-Z for seeing another year. The whole party itself was based off the Al Pacino movie “Scarface” and Beyonce and the rapper’s mom Gloria were the guests of honor.

Guests were chartered from New York via two private jets and were treated to a lavish dinner of canapés and caviar, along with Dom Perignon champagne to wash it all down. Kanye and Diddy performed and Alicia Keys sung an impromptu version of their hit single “Empire State of Mind.”

Fireworks were shot off at the ind of the night and was presented along with a 40s-style synchronized swimming display. But unfortunately you won’t be able to see any of this because no cameras were allowed and all guests were required to leave their personal cameras and mobile phones at the door to block people’s temptation of twitpicing little snippets of the shindig.
