Future has helped Ciara finally get a much-needed hit and how does she repay him? By messing with his money! That is, according to one man who just slapped Ciara’s boo thang with a lawsuit for bailing on a concert appearance because she wanted to be all uppity and what-not.

In an interview with Power 105.1′s “The Breakfast Club,” promoter Cliff Dutton says Future skipped out on a club appearance in Las Vegas and blames it all on Ciara. Apparently, when the club sent stretch limos to scoop up Future and Ciara, Ciara refused to enter and asked for SUVs instead.

Why would she act so funny over stretch limos? I assume because it’s no longer 1993. Whatever the case, after they sent SUVs per request, she still refused to go to the club so the couple skip the event altogether. Cliff ultimately booted them both from the hotel suite he paid for and has subsequently filed a $46,000 suit against the rapper.

Cliff told the morning show team, “I don’t give a damn about Ciara. I didn’t book Ciara.” Apparently, this would have been Future’s first paid appearance in Las Vegas.

Ciara, don’t come between a man and his money. You’ll mess around and get traded for Mya.

Ciara was the special guest on the ‘Wendy Williams Show’ this morning where the Grammy winner discussed a wide array of topics like her new album, her new boyfriend Future, and her longtime feud with Rihanna. It not anything else, it made for quite an interesting interview.

In Ciara’s video for her latest single, “Body Party,” the former princess of Crunk ‘n’ B and her beau Future apply lessons learned from the Steven Seagal School of Acting.

As Future one-two steps back into the party after initiating the onscreen courtship, Ciara smiles and says, “He reads!”

Apparently, this confused the hell out of a number of people who had no idea as to what she was talking about, because, you know, reading is black gay lingo for telling somebody off.

At first I just assumed that Ciara was doing a half-ass attempt at using the Queen’s English, but it turns out that even if she was just biting black gay lingo, CiCi didn’t know it.

In an interview with Muu Muse, Ciara was asked about the meaning of “He reads!” and…well, good luck deciphering that explanation.

I have to ask though: When you say “He reads,” what does that mean exactly?
Ciara: (Laughs) I mean like, he reads! Like, that works. Like, that’s it. In that case, when I said “he reads”, it was just like…he reads! Like, he’s cute, he’s it, and he’s everything. It’s like that first reaction of when you meet somebody and he really like…he reads. Like…yes.

Uh huh. Okay, alright. So I’m gonna have to use that then!
Ciara: He reads! Yes, he makes you feel something, while he also looks cute, and all of that good stuff.

Girl, what? Next time just say, “He’s cute.”

I love Ciara‘s “Body Party.” So much so that I made a $1.29 donation to her “Keep Me Relevant” fund on iTunes. I want this girl to win even if she continues to express her own reservations with such an outcome. I don’t love the “Body Party” video, though, or at least, not as much as others seem to.

For one, she’s not dancing enough. Not to mention, I’ve seen this sex kitten bit from her. Don’t get me wrong. God bless the sex kittens, but at what point do you get the ones who offer the same purr the exact same way every single time spayed?

That aside, anyone working to bring back the butterfly has my full support on such endeavor. Beyoncé did her part by including it as an old school dance in the “Get Me Bodied” video, but I’ve got to give it CiCi just doing it because it felt right. You better believe the first thing I did when I was able to crawl out of bed from illness late last week was to do the butterfly.

So yes, gon’ Ciara, and might I add, I also enjoy the reference to Janet’s video for “That’s The Way Love Goes.” At the same time, I think that’s why I don’t completely love this video and why I can’t completely commit myself to the band of misfits known as the C-Squad. Well, I think that’s what they’re called. Whatever, you get it.

How many Janet Jackson videos is Ciara going to recreate exactly? Okay, so it wasn’t a direct rip like those other two drawn from Damita Jo’s “You Want This” visual, but once I found out Ciara’s album change, I began to frown.

The fact that Ciara has switched her album title from One Woman Army to simply Ciara and the motivation behind it is not lost on me, he who has been a long time attendant of the Church of Janet Jackson and Butterflying Saints. Like the janet. album, Ciara marks Ciara’s fifth studio offering. Coincidentally, it’s the 20th anniversary of the janet. album.

All that plus the single cover for “Body Party” mimicking Janet’s single covers for “You Want This” and “All For You.” I’m not sure Janet Jackson knows what a Ciara is, and even if she did, she’s too busy swimming in her husband’s money fault as armed guards block brother Jermaine access into hers. Still, I’m irked for her.

Meanwhile, earlier someone asked me, “Do we believe this relationship?” referring to her and Future.

My response was, “I believe part of Ciara’s attraction is the idea that it’ll boost her celebrity.” That’s not to say her feelings aren’t more genuine than that horrible valley girl tone she now speaks in, but I do think Ciara and Future want us to know they’re a thing. You can tell because they keep force-feeding it to the press blogs.

I wish someone would tell her that being a Kardashian is not a ticket to the musical promised land.

But because I’m such a good and modest person, I’m hoping Ciara’s fifth album is good and she can at least get her a gold plaque out of the deal. No matter what happens, however, I find Ciara creatively lazy. She is not an artist. She just wants to be famous. That’s fine, but riding Janet Jackson’s jock alone won’t get you there.

The other day another friend was lamenting how Ciara continues to let her potential to evolve as a dancer and performer go by the wayside. I used to share those frustrations, which is why my criticism of her could be a wee bit on the harsh side. Okay, my ass was mean as hell. I’m over it, though.

Just gimme an album I can twirk, too, Ciara. I don’t trust you on much else — including Janet level performances and videos. Hell, not even Mya terms of artistry (refer to the Moodring album). If you want to see an act take choreography seriously, go look up the “Grown Woman” performance. Or hell, the OMG Girlz…and the gays, of course.

You won’t ever be Janet, Ciara, but maybe you can become the music star La Toya never was. But, I do hope some other young woman steps up and gives us the kind of music Janet did years ago. Something socially conscious, self-affirming, and sexual. Ugh, dammit, I miss you so much, Janet. You can’t take off that burka for a few minutes and give me one more album (a good one).

By the way, I want Ciara to stop acting as if she’s consumed with “positivity” when it comes to Rihanna — so much so that she won’t be bothered with their rift. Girl, look above. You started that. Don’t be cunty if you don’t want to deal with the consequences.

On a scale of 1 to 10, interviewing your ex on national television has to rate at about a 20 on the awkwardometer. Poor Ashanti and Bow Wow got more than their fair share of awkward this week.

A quick back story and point of reference here: You know your career is on life support when you have to moonlight as a journalist or on-air personality to collect a paycheck.

After a string of flop projects, Ashanti and Bow Wow are both firmly in the struggle category. So in order to keep the cash flowing, Ashanti’s taken on a job with FUSE and Bow Wow is now a host on BET’s video countdown staple “106 & Park.”

Nelly and Ashanti were sort of like the C-grade Beyonce and Jay-Z. Like Bey and Jay, they started out as friends. But unlike Bey and Jay, they never officially confirmed the obvious fact that they were dating. This despite countless paparazzi pics of the two traveling together and meeting up on different occasions.

Recently, word on the street is that Ashanti and Nelly called it quits. But if her interview with the rapper is anything to go by, things appear to be smooth between the two.

Most of the interview is boilerplate, but you can catch a glimpse of their chemistry when Ashanti asks Nelly what his turn-ons and turn-offs are in a woman. He starts off by saying, “Bad breath.” Ashanti screws her face and points at herself saying, “Not me.” Nelly laughs and reassures that he’s not talking about her. But things get even more cozy when Nelly gushes that he likes a woman with “nice thighs.”

Everyone knows Ashanti got them ham hocks and she graciously accepts his compliment.

Bow Wow had a similar experience to Ashanti, but his was a bit more awkward. Though he was cordial, there was a strange unspoken tension during the interview.

And his decision to sit on top of the couch as opposed to on the seat of the couch with Ciara and his co-host was telling. It was as if he wanted to maintain some distance between himself and Ciara at all times. Or maybe he just wanted to be taller than Ciara for once.

Whatever the case may be, it’s safe to say that Bow’s probably not all the way over his ex, Ciara.

The last time Ciara had a video catapult her career into comeback mode was back in 2006 for her Aaliyah-inspired hit “Promise.” And she’s done it again in 2013 with her new video for “Body Party.” Baby, I swear it’s deja vu.

It’s no secret that CiCi’s career has been on the struggle tip in recent years. Her albums have flopped harder than Aretha Franklin’s pancake breasts do when she unzips herself out of her Body Magic for the night.

Many singles have come and gone and the album title for her latest and potentially last great hope changed at the last minute. The project was dubbed ‘One Woman Army’ for nearly a year but now Ciara has rebranded it as ‘Ciara.’ The switch seems to have worked though, based on the response to her new video “Body Party.” The video has racked up over 1 million just a couple of days.

Like “Promise,” “Body Party” thrives on Aaliyah-isms and bump-and-grind R&B. Ciara plays up her tom boy and sex appeal simultaneously.

In the house party portion, she’s dressed like a butch lesbian from the ’90s with baggy pants and a masculine sleeveless shirt. But the other set-up has CiCi rocking a sexy blonde bob and nothing but lingerie.

She’s giving you a little beauty and the butch, I suppose.

The video, in a throwback to the ’90s, has a couple of noteworthy celebrity cameos. Peep the brief shot of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta”s dysfunctional couple, Stevie J and Joseline Hernandez.

Guess they left Molly the Maid at home again. Damn.

Additionally, Ciara’s real-life boyfriend Future plays her love interest in the video.

Other ATLiens are in the building too, as her old pal Ludacris drops by, ratchet prince Trinidad James makes a cameo, and she reunites with her one-time producer Jazze Pha. The two weren’t on speaking terms for some time so it’s beautiful to see Ciara mending fences. Maybe that’s why her blessings are finally starting to blossom.

The scene that Nicki Minaj liked best was that seductive headstand Ciara did for Future.

Just when you thought the beef between Rihanna and Ciara had settled down, Ciara went and reignited it.

Ciara recently did an interview with Bay area radio station Wild 94.9, and when she was asked about her feud with Rihanna, CiCi had some not-so-nice things to say about RiRi.

“I think she’s nuts right now! Like whatever’s going on because for me it doesn’t make any sense,” Ciara said (via Necole Bitchie). “I don’t have beef with anybody, but I’m not going to be disrespected either. I wish her well. I don’t know what her problem is. She has a lot of good things going on with herself. A lot of good things I’ve always said I’ve been happy for her. I don’t get it. I really don’t, but I wish her well. I wish her positivity.”

Rihanna was quick to respond on Instagram. “How u gonna hate from the outside??? Thanks for the free promeaux sis!! When will they start asking her questions about HER?” she posted. (see below)

Ciara also fired back. Last night she tweeted:

This isn’t the first time the two singers have gone back-and-forth with each other over social media. Just last month, Rihanna and her  BFF Melissa Forde took to Instagram to post a picture seemingly mocking Ciara. Forde wrote for the caption (for the photo below): “#BodyParty (bathroom acapella version) #London”

In a recent interview with Chicago radio station 107.5 WGCI, Ciara responded to Rihanna and her BFF Melissa Forde throwing shade on her new “Body Party” single and the “bathroom acapella version” she uploaded to YouTube.

Earlier this week, Ciara posted a video to YouTube of her singing an acapella version of her new single “Body Party,” and out of nowhere, Rihanna’s BFF Melissa Forde appeared to mock the clip with a photo of them having a “viewing party” for the song, accompanied by the following tweet:

At the time Ciara responded with a tweet saying, “Don’t have time 4 the silliness. Grow Up and Do Something Positive with ya selves for once. God Bless,” but she elaborated a bit further with WGCI’s “Tony Sculfield and the Morning Riot,” and told the radio hosts that she thought everything was cool with Rihanna, until she went and dissed her on Twitter and Instagram.

“I thought everything was cool because I actually saw Rihanna two years ago at the Met Gala after we had the little small back and forth, and from what I recall everything was cool,” she said.

She continued, “So, in my mind I operate from a place of love and pure support. If you would have asked me about her up until this point I would have nothing but good things to say because I’m really happy for her. But I didn’t receive what they did from a positive place.”

In addition to her beef with Rihanna, Ciara also talked about her upcoming appearance on BET’s “The Game” and responded to old rumors of KFC selling her 2009 album “Fantasy Ride” along with the purchase of a meal. Long story short, they didn’t; and where the hell do stories like that come from, anyway?

Beef alert! It has long been rumored that Rihanna and Ciara have been beefing, which was made public last year when the two went back and forth on Twitter. And it looks like the feud between RiRi and CiCi seems to have flared up again.

Ciara recently released a video of her singing an acapella version of her new song “Body Party,” and early Tuesday morning (Mar 5), literally out of nowhere, Rihanna’s BFF Melissa Forde mocked the clip with the above pic and the following caption:

R&B songstress Ciara releases her new single “Body Party” (produced by super producer Mike Will) — a very sexy, intimate and passionate song.

The song’s cover art definitely fits its description. A sexy Ciara is lying in bed, naked with a sheet covering her body parts.

And guess who co-wrote it alongside Mike Will? If you guessed her boyfriend Future, then you are absolutely right.

The song’s lyrics read:

In a recent interview with Billboard, Ciara tells us how the record came about, and how much she loves working with Future:

“Let’s just say that this record came out of a very sincere place. I think when things just organically feel right; naturally good things come from it.

“He’s such an amazing, creative person. I can be very creatively expressive myself, but there’s nothing like being able to work with someone that can bring a new flavor.

“What I like about [working with] him, it’s almost like I got to learn more things about myself. I can’t avoid being inspired by what’s going on in my life. To be honest, I’m in a very happy place.”

Ciara’s forthcoming highly anticipated album ‘One Woman Army’ is set to be released in June.

Can we call them the new A-town It Couple? Seems like Ciara and her new boo, rapper Future, are really stepping things up a notch as they are now being spotted out together more and more. Guess they’re taking this leap now, since Future and his baby mama drama has died down a bit.

The two were spotted out Tuesday night (Feb 26) in Beverly Hills attending dinner at Mastros, looking just too good as they complimented each other wearing all black. Or maybe is it just CiCi we’re looking at? A well-dressed Ciara, wearing very little make-up, and a sheer black shirt, a fur throw, leather pants, and of course a pair of Louboutins, looked amazing.

Future, dressed in a button downed black shirt, black jeans, and black Timbs, tried to get his grown man look on, and looked pretty dapper.

Guess that’s not too hard when you have a fashionista like Ciara on your arm. I’m sure she gave her boo a few fashion tips, without completely trying to change his look up, because we all know how Future loves to wear those beanies with every outfit. I’m glad he didn’t with this one.

I’m sure I don’t speak for myself when I say we’re all rooting for this relationship to work out for CiCi. She’s been longing for true happiness for quite some time. You remember… from Bow Wow, to 50 Cent, to Amar’e Stoudimire, and now Future.

Rumors that rapper Future and R&B singer Ciara have been dating have been swirling for months, and speculation of a relationship between the two Atlanta natives grew earlier this month when they were spotted having lunch in Beverly Hills.

Both Future and Ciara have been dodging the rumors for some time now, but it sounds like things may be heating up between the pair … enough so that Future has revealed how smitten he is with Ciara in a recent interview with ATL radio station Hot 107.9:

She’s a beautiful woman, amazing, incredible, everything that comes with those words, that’s what she represents. I can tell you, all the negativity that comes with me and her is not true. Our personal lives is our personal lives.

Sometimes people present it like it’s true and they think they have facts, but at the end of the day, we know what’s true and we know what’s not true and anything negative from that situation, we [are] not even representing that. What you see is what you get.

We are at a time where, I am on Epic, she’s on Epic, I love music, she loves music. And we love being in the studio with each other. We love being around each other and that’s just what it is. The chemistry is there. It’s amazing. She makes me happy, I make her smile.

Anything negative around that is all false because every time you are doing something positive and somebody sees you happy, they want to find something to tear you down. She’s a great woman. I believe at the end of the day, once the media passes over and all of the foolishness goes past, we gon’ be able to be good. And we gon’ be good.

It’s only comments, rumors and certain speculations. As long as we have that understanding, no one can ever come between us.

Give Ciara credit for one thing: She doesn’t give up easily.

Although her last album, Basic Instinct, was dead on arrival, she’s decided to stay on the horse and give it another go ’round with her new album, One Woman Army. This, despite the fact that her first buzz single “Sweat” featuring 2 Chainz went absolutely nowhere, but we digress.

Ciara’s not done trying to get y’all to twerk and jerk to her music again so she dusted off that trusty ol’ Miami Bass sound for her new single “Got Me Good.”

The video is parched, dry and set in a desert: A perfect metaphor for her current state of affairs. Director Joseph Kahn put her impressive fancy footwork skills at the forefront and she managed to finally do a dance routine without breaking out her trusty matrix move.

The question remains though: Is this enough to make Ciara relevant again?

Ciara pours her heart out about parting ways with a former love in her new single “Sorry” and the accompanying music video, which premiered on VEVO and BET’s “106 & Park” today.

According to Ciara herself, the slow jam, produced by Jasper Cameron, and the first official single from her upcoming album “One Woman Army,” is said to be inspired by an ex-boyfriend.

“It’s someone that I really loved,” CiCi told Essence, without revealing their name. “They’ll know who they are when they hear the song.”

Fans of Ciara will be glad to know that the R&B/Pop star is working hard on a follow-up to her 2010 album “Basic Instinct.”

During a live chat with MTV to promote her new movie “That’s My Boy,” CiCi revealed that she is putting the finishing touches on her next album, titled “One Woman Army,” and the album’s first single “Sweat” will drop soon.

“I’m finishing up my album. It’s called One Woman Army and you guys will be in for a treat very soon,” she told MTV News. “My new single ‘Sweat’ will be coming as well. … It’s gonna make you sweat in all kinds of ways.”

Ciara parted ways with Jive Records last year and re-united with her longtime mentor L.A. Reid over at Epic Records. She stars alongside Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg in “That’s My Boy,” which hits theaters on June 15th.

Ciara was spotted hanging out with a friend at the New York Knicks vs. Toronto Raptors basketball game Tuesday night (Mar 20) at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The R&B/Pop singer, showing off her new blonde highlights and wearing a pair of Giuseppe Hidden Wedge Sneakers (according to Necole Bitchie), was all smiles and looked to be enjoying herself as she and her friend, who was wearing a pair of red-bottom Christian Louboutin platform heels, watched the Knicks defeat the Raptors 106 to 87.

Atlanta’s music royalty packed into the city’s historic Cascade Skating Rink and donated their time and money Wednesday night to help the homeless and less fortunate at DeVyne Stephens’ Roll Over Hunger Celebrity Charity and Skate Jam Wednesday night.

The guest list for the charity event included Ludacris, T.I., Young Jeezy, Big Boi, Toya, Polow Da Don, Ciara (who showed up in a wheelchair and wearing braces on both legs) and many others.

Through this star-studded event, DeVyne Stephens and his DeVyne Intervention foundation were able to raise thousands of dollars to help feed Atlanta’s homeless.

All of the proceeds went straight to he Hosea Feed the Hungry Foundation Holiday Dinner Program, which provides four major meal service events for Atlanta’s homeless, serving over 200,000 hot meals every year.

No word just yet on why Ciara rolled up to the event (literally) in a wheelchair, though it looks like she (and everyone else) had a ball!

Proceeds from the charity event will go straight to Theron’s Africa Outreach program, which is committed to reducing violence and HIV/AIDS among African youth.

Today marks a sad day in the music industry: the 10th anniversary of Aaliyah’s tragic death.

10 years ago today, Aaliyah Dana Haughton, the young R&B singer known worldwide as Aaliyah, was tragically killed in a plane crash in the Bahamas, putting a sad end to a promising career.

Just before her untimely passing, Aaliyah (born in Brooklyn, and raised in Detroit) had just released her third, self-titled album and had filmed the music video for the project’s second single “Rock the Boat.”

She was also in the middle of filming a new movie “Queen of the Damned,” following her blockbuster debut in “Romeo Must Die.” (FYI: Aaliyah was also in negotiations to star in the “Matrix” as well as “Honey” and a re-make of “Sparkle.”)

But all of that was cut short on August 25th 2001 when Aaliyah, who was 22 at the time, and members of her entourage died after their plane crashed shortly after take-off from the Bahamas following the “Rock the Boat” video shoot.

Though Aaliyah was only able to release three albums during her short time here with us, each one left a significant impact on the music scene then, and still shows its influences today.

“I met Aaliyah when I was about 15 [yrs old]. It was I think at a rehearsal for the Soul Train Awards and someone introduced us. I was so excited to meet her because she was the first girl on the scene. She came out before Monica and I did, she was our inspiration. At the time, record companies did not believe in kid acts and it was just inspiring to see someone that was winning and winning being themselves. When I met her I embraced her, I was so happy to meet her. I told her how much I loved her. She said the same thing about me and we connected. It was a great moment I’ll never forget.

“We [later] performed at a radio event together. I remember going on before her and I could see her in a section where they kept the artists and she was just bobbing her head, really being supportive. It felt like [there] was no competition, or any of that. She was just very, very supportive. Then when she got on to perform, the entire place was singing her songs word for word, and so I was I. I was trying to sing louder than everybody else so she can hear that I knew her stuff and that I was being just as supportive as she was to me.

“There was a moment when I won at, I think, [Soul Train] Lady of Soul [Music Awards]. She sent me flowers saying how proud she was and ‘congratulations.’ I just thought that was so angelic and sweet of her. People say that Aaliyah is angelic and that just made me feel like ‘wow, that’s a moment.’ Other artists supporting another artist when everybody’s trying to put you against each other, which was very special. I was like ‘whoa, that’s really big of her.’”

Monica

“The first time I met her, she was extremely quiet. You [weren't] going to get a lot of words out of Aaliyah in a first meeting. It takes a lot of time for her to warm up to people because she had this shyness… I’ve never seen [Missy Elliott] in the type of turmoil and pain that she was in after Aaliyah passed because there’s no replacing the type of friendship that her and Missy had.”

Ciara

“She was true to who she was and she didn’t seem to care about it. The core of her art is to me, heavily, heavily, urban based… It never felt like she was trying to reach across or do anything more than just keep that cool, soulful, heavy, urban core about it… I really respect that and I appreciate that.”

Estelle

“Her purity of voice was incredible… Her vocals and style is what had her stand out above and beyond everyone. When I listen to her voice now, I think, ‘She was killing it. She was a beast.’”

Keyshia Cole

“When I found out that she [had] passed that night, I just cried [while] on the tour bus. That’s amazing for someone to have that affect on other people’s lives. I think why it affected me so much without me knowing her is because she seemed to have a beautiful soul.

“[There was] something about her spirit. She connected before reality TV, before any of that happened in our era. It was something about her that made you connect to her. She seemed like she had a beautiful soul.”

“The state of R&B in the ’90s, where she stood, she was second to none. She was pretty much the top female. It was a new sound, the production from Timbaland. Everyone had to pay attention. That was just a time I would love to go back to you. Everything was all about us, and it was all about Aaliyah. It would just set her apart from everyone in the ’90s…we came at a great time.”

“When I was on tour her and Joel Silver came to my dressing room to see if I wanted to be a part of the movie. Most people would have their people call, but she came herself.

“I’m like, ‘Is this a trick question? You have to ask me if I want to be in a movie with Aaliyah? Hell yeah.’ We [then] met up in Vancouver to [do] Romeo Must Die. She had a presence on TV that was incredible. It was sexy but kind of gangster.

“We did the [Back in One Piece] video in Mount Vernon and Yonkers. I got to bring Aaliyah to the hood. Not many people can say that. She was easy to talk to and down to earth. Aaliyah made you feel comfortable, with her and with yourself. That’s one hell of a combination.”

“Half these chicks that are doing it right now wouldn’t be doing it [if she were still here]. Aaliyah would be on top. As far as I’m concerned she’s still on top.

“Thank you,” DMX says she would tell Aaliyah if still here. “Thank you for the opportunity. Thank you for memories. They’re all priceless.”

Ciara was spotted on the beach in Miami Monday afternoon (Jul 18) rocking a sexy two-piece bikini.

According to recent reports, the R&B singer may be joining the newly restructured Epic Label Group, which is now being run by music mogul Antonio L.A. Reid, who gave Ciara her first record deal at his former label LaFace Records back in 2003. We hear Reid also wants to bring Pink, Mariah Carey, Usher and Jennifer Lopez to the label as well.

The paparazzi gave Ciara a bit of a startle as she made her way out of LAX Airport Sunday morning (Jul 10) following Monica’s big wedding in L.A. the night before. Ciara made funny faces with YouTube sensation Keenan Cahill in Times Square, New York City yesterday (Tue. May 3). Both were attending an event held to raise awareness for National Teen Pregnancy Month, an initiative to prevent unplanned pregnancies amongst teenage girls.

Times Square was jam packed with teen girls who were wearing pink t-shirts with the words “Don’t Be A Statistic” written on them and balloons placed under their shirts to make it look as if they were pregnant.

A few months ago the “1, 2 Step” singer made a controversial move and published a letter via her Facebook about wanting to be released from the label. Here’s a snippet of what she wrote:

“It is true that I have asked and I pray that my label will release me. I have had some great times and success with my label but sometimes, like all great things, it’s at that point where I feel we don’t share the same views on who I am as an artist.”

Fast forward to today and the R&B it-girl is focusing on big things for her future and building her own empire. In an interview with The West Australian, the “Goodies” singer dished:

“Right now, I am in the process of letting things fall how they are supposed to,” she says. “It may sound crazy to you, but I have never really managed to take time for me and to enjoy my life and enjoy the benefits I have been blessed with,” she says.

“I want to look back five years from now and be happy I have set up the proper building blocks for my business to run on, even if I don’t want to perform. I am working hard on every aspect of my career, from who I am as a performer to making music, TV and films. From my perspective, my goal is to do more than just perform. To use the platform I have been given to turn it into something more, to do something different.”

So what does Ciara see as her biggest accomplishment?

“My greatest achievement is being able to last for this long in the music industry,” she says. “It is really hard and it’s a journey. You need to keep reinventing yourself to just stay around. Of course, winning a Grammy was great for me as well. It is something I cherish and value, I am proud to say I have a Grammy.”

It was a war of words with Rihanna and Ciara the other night on Twitter!

Ciara made a special guest appearance on E!’s “Fashion Police” Friday night (Feb 25) and when host Joan Rivers asked her what she thought of Rihanna’s style, Ciara said:

“I ran into (Rihanna) recently at a party. She wasn’t the nicest. It’s crazy, because I’ve always loved and respected what she’s done in fashion. It wasn’t the most pleasant run-in.”

This week the net has been a buzz of the rumor that I have been dropped from my label. At this point that rumor is false..It is true that I have asked and I pray that my label will release me. I have had some great times and success with my label, but sometimes like all great things, its at that point where I feel we don’t share the same views on who I am as a artist.

he past two albums have been very frustrating for me. At times there were songs I chose to lead a project and I was ignored! This project, I even tried to get Gimmie Dat started. I spent tens of thousands of my own money only to hear the radio PDs tell me my label didn’t want the song played. I even spent more than one hundred thousand dollars out of my pocket on the video to bring my vision to it and still no label support.

I do understand that some labels are not financially supporting their artists and I have become one of them. You, my fans, know that I strive to do my best to deliver to my you the best songs and creative vision I possibly can. I’m dedicated to my music, performance and to my fans! I’ve tried to be a team player with the label only to have compromised what I truly believed. And was not given the right opportunity to promote and inform my fans of the release of this album.

I have so much of me as a artist I still want to give to the world and my fans. A release would allow me to go be creative with people who care and understand me as a artist. In a short time, I will be able to bring to you a new music energy and a visual excitement! Thank you so much for standing by me through the good, bad, and the confusion. I love you all.

Staples Center was full of celebrities during last night’s basketball game! As the Los Angeles Lakers took on New York Knicks Sunday night (Jan 9), lots of celebs, including Ciara, Spike Lee, Denzel Washington, Dr. Dre, George Lopez, Adam Sandler and others, were seated in their VIP courtside seats taking all of the bball action in.

Ciara sat down with Chelsea Handler last Wednesday (Dec 15) to talk about her new album, her favorite curse word and more. One thing the pair DIDN’T talk about though was 50 Cent……..for many obvious reasons.

While on the promo trail for her new album Basic Instinct, Ciara made a stop at BET’s “106 & Park” yesterday (Tues. Dec 14) to promote the release of the new project. The singer did a little dancing at the urging of the live studio audience, and talked to hosts Terrence J and Rocsi about what she’s doing for Christmas, her new album and more. CiCi even rapped a few lines from her song “U Got Me.”

Ciara’s “Basic Instinct” is in stores NOW!

R&B singer Ciara has been out and about promoting her new album Basic Instinct (in stores TODAY).

CiCi made a guest appearance on “The Wendy Williams Show” Monday (Dec 13) f0r the first time…and gave her take on a number of issues, including her album getting pushed back and BET banning her “Ride” video….to rumors that she’s dating 50 Cent.
