Apparently, Jay-Z and Kanye West‘s “(Watch) The Throne” compilation project has inspired Chris Rock in one way or another.

The comedian revealed to Vulture that he wants to team up with Dave Chappelle for a joint nationwide stand-up comedy tour!

“I’ve been talking to Chappelle a lot. Been trying to get Chappelle to go on tour. You know I’m not the hard one,” he said, laughing. “But I’m trying to make that happen. After seeing [Kanye and Jay-Z's tour], I was like, ‘Me and Dave should do this.”

Convincing Chappelle to go on tour is like getting a fat girl to lay off the debbie cakes. We don’t see it happening … but if it does, we know it will be epic!

The 2011-12 NBA season officially kicked off on Christmas Day (Sun. Dec 25) with a number of basketball games, including the Boston Celtics vs. New York Knicks game at Madison Square Garden, which was attended by R&B singer Alicia Keys, her producer/rapper husband Swizz Beatz and their 14-month-old son Egypt.

Other celebs spotted at the Celtics/Knicks game were Spike Lee, Chris Rock and Tracy Morgan.

The 2nd Annual Steve Harvey Foundation Gala took place on Monday night (Apr 4) at New York’s Cipriani Wall Street. The comedian, on behalf his foundation, honored Tyler Perry, Chris Rock and his wife Malaak Rock and others at the annual charity event.

Some of the stars who attended the ceremony were Russell Simmons and his niece Angela Simmons, music exec. Antonio “LA Reid,” Denzel Washington’s wife Pauletta, Gayle King, actor Boris Kodjoe and more. The event, hosted by Steve Harvey and Sherri Shepherd (from “The View”), ended up raising $600,000 for the Steve Harvey Mentoring Weekend for Young Men.

EBONY Magazine recently caught up with funny man Chris Rock and got him to open up about his appearance in the wildly popular “Yeezy Taught Me” skit on Kanye West’s “Blame Game”, a song that appears on the rapper’s latest album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

“We made it in New York. My family was in Africa for a week, and I had nothing to do. I bumped into [Kanye] at Mr. Chow, and he got me hanging out in the studio for a while. It sounded like it’s all me, but it’s him. He recorded me doing five times as much stuff, and he put it together. Then he texts me, ‘Yo, we got a classic!’

“He kept telling me, ‘It could be iller, it could be iller.” He’s an instigator; he just instigated that performance out of me. That was the highlight of my year. To be in something that cool? It’s the best piece of art of the year. They could play the record in the Museum Of Modern Art.” (Source)

Chris would later reveal to the NY Times :

“I did that quicker than I read scripts that they offer me money to do. I thank him so much it probably freaks him out. Especially at this late date, to get on something, the album of the moment, that stuff is priceless, you can’t put a price tag on that. I felt invigorated by it,” he said. “I’ve still got my fastball.”

Chris … you Rock! Maybe not to Amber Rose (who the song mercilessly makes fun of), but groupies’ opinions don’t matter anyway. Everybody loves Chris! And that skit was off the chain.

The 45 year-old comedian/actor helped calm down and relax a pregnant woman whose water broke at a New Jersey shopping mall on Friday (Dec 10).

According to an eyewitness, Rock spotted the woman just a few feet away from the store he was shopping in…..and decided to lend a helping hand by telling a few jokes until the paramedics got there.

“He was making the crowd and the woman in labor laugh. She recognized who he was immediately and he stayed there until the paramedics took her away.”

Guess laughter is the best medicine after-all. We bet the baby was inside his mama cracking up though. Everybody Hates LOVES Chris!!

Stars took to the Kennedy Center in celebration of the 33rd Annual Kennedy Center Honors ceremony in Washington, DC on Sunday (Dec 5).

The event takes place to honor five individuals who have spent most of their lives inspiring and enriching the cultural vibrancy of the nation. This year, Oprah Winfrey and Paul McCartney (the Beatles) were among the five chosen ones. President Barack Obama gave a speech with the honorees present at the East wing of the White House before they all headed to the Kennedy Center to join celebrity guests.

Chris Rock and his wife, No Doubt, Tyrese and Jennifer Hudson were some of the many that walked the red carpet.  The event will be televised on CBS on December 28th.

It seems that comedian Chris Rock might have gotten his azz handed to him (no pun intended) backstage at the 2010 NAACP Image Awards last week. As actress Gabourey Sidibe made her way to the stage to accept her award for “Best Actress” from Chris Rock, he grabbed her butt with both hands; she playfully slapped him off and laughed, but apparently, her father, who was in the audience, wasn’t laughing.

“As I go up to get my award in a room where my dad is, because he’s one of my dates, Chris Rock grabbed my butt with both of his hands – and then I slapped him back. I didn’t think too much of it at all, but my dad was super pissed.”

“Some dudes gotta have it – it’s my own fault for being too damn fine.”

LOL! We love this girl and her self-confidence. The first time actress is nominated for an Academy Award for her starring role in “Precious.”

The hit movie “Precious” (nominated for an Oscar) took home a total of 6 awards Friday night (Feb 26) at the 41st Annual NAACP Image Awards, which aired live on FOX from Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium.

Newcomer Gabourey Sidibe was awarded with “Outstanding Actress,” while Mo’Nique picked up the “Outstanding Supporting Actress” award, Lee Daniels won the “Outstanding Director” award and Geoffrey Fletcher was named “Outstanding Writer.” And the film as a collective won “Outstanding Motion Picture of the Year” and “Best Independent Film.”

Over 83 million people tuned in last Friday night (Jan 22) to catch the Hope for Haiti Now telethon, which aired live and commercial-free on several major networks and was also streamed real-time online. The effort was spearheaded by MTV Networks, actor George Clooney and rapper/singer Wyclef Jean (who is from Haiti himself) in an effort to raise awareness and relief for the troubled country of Haiti, who suffered a massive earthquake earlier this month. According to recent numbers, over $61 million in pledges were made by members of the general public. Organizers will continue to take contributions for the next six months.

Celebrities who helped out by either performing or taking phone calls from pledges (or both) included Jay-Z, Rihanna, Bono from U2, Taylor Swift, Denzel Washington, Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson and tons more. SHARON OSBOURNE BEING INVESTIGATED BY THE LAPD » The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating an incident that happened this past Sunday (Dec. 14th), reportedly involving Charm School: Rock of Love host Sharon Osbourne and contestant Megan Hauserman, during the recording of the VH1 reality series’ finale show.

Allegedly, words were exchanged between both Sharon and Megan, and when Megan told Sharon that she’s “only famous for managing a brain dead rock star,” all hell broke loose, according to TMZ. Sharon then lunged at Megan, scratching and pulling her hair, so much that Megan had to be taken to a hospital. TMZ cameras caught her leaving the ER with a sling on her left arm and plugs of hair missing from her head.

We hear Megan is pressing charges, but so far, none have been filed yet. Calls to VH1 and Sharon’s people were not immediately returned. The moral of the story is … don’t f**k with the Osbournes!!

CHRIS ROCK’S DAUGHTERS WANT A PLAY DATE WITH THE OBAMA GIRLS » Comedian/actor Chris Rock recently spoke to People and told them that his daughters want to be friends with Malia and Sasha Obama, President-Elect Barack Obama‘s daughters.

“His girls are a little older than mine,” said Rock about President-elect Barack Obama’s daughters Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7. “My girls want a playdate. They look at the youngest and they’re like, ‘We can play with her, Daddy.’ We’ll see.”

Chris Rock’s daughters, Lola and Zahra, are 6 and 4 years old, respectively.

MOS DEF’S LAWYERS WANT THEIR MONEY » It’s been reported that rapper Mos Def is apparently in hot water with his divorce attorneys. Why? Because he has yet to pay them for their services. According to reports published by celebrity website Star Pulse, attorneys from the Blank Rome legal firm claim that the actor/rapper owes them over $60,000 in unpaid legal fees after they helped him with the divorce of his wife, Maria Yepes, in 2006. So now the firm is suing him to collect their money.

In addition to being sued by his own lawyers, Mos Def is also in a legal battle with a photographer. He’s currently facing charges of felony robbery and malicious destruction of private property after fashion photographer Volker Correll alleged he ripped a camera from his neck and smashed it to the ground, Kanye West style, during a confrontation in Vegas this past August.

But despite all of that, Mos Def is looking forward to his fourth album’s release, Ecstatic, due in April 2009.
