The rap cyphers have become the highlight of the BET Hip-Hop Awards each year now, with Hip-Hop artists, both established and up-and-coming, showing off their freestyling skills in black-and-white clips that show in between commercial breaks.

With DJ Premier on the turntables, the cyphers for this year’s Hip-Hop Awards featured verses from T.I.’s Grand Hustle crew (himself, B.o.B, Iggy Azalea, Chip & Trae Tha Truth), as well as Mystikal, Mac Miller, Talib Kweli, RZA, Driicky Graham, Childish Gambino, A$AP Rocky and others.

The 2012 BET Hip-Hop Awards cyphers also featured freestyles from the Ruff Ryders (Mook, Cassidy, Eve & DMX) and West Coast rappers Xzibit, YG, Kurupt, E-40, DJ Quik, Kendrick Lamar and Snoop Dogg.

The 2012 BET Hip-Hop Awards went down in Atlanta Saturday (Sep 29), and here are the photos from the red carpet!

Before rap rivals Rick Ross and Young Jeezy‘s much publicized backstage brawl, a number of Hip-Hop’s finest walked down the red carpet of the BET Hip-Hop Awards outside the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center, including T.I., 2 Chainz, Wiz Khalifa, 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, Meek Mill, Future and many others.

Tina Fey lets her ratchet side show a little on a song called “Real Estate,” the final track on Childish Gambino‘s newly released free “Royalty” mixtape.

Fey, who worked with Gambino (real name: Donald Glover) on “30 Rock,” appears with him on the song alongside rappers Alley Boy and Swank and comes in right before the 5 minute mark.

Her verse:

Yeah, we in here, we in this thing
Gambino is forever, royalty is forever
We ballin’ till we f**kin up the hardwood, homie
This is the life we live, son
My President is black and my Prius is blue, motherf**ker

As the Hollywood Reporter points, out, this isn’t Tina Fey’s first time on the mic — you may recall her turn as female rapper “Lemonem“ in an episode of “30 Rock” this past season, but that sucked … really bad. And this doesn’t!

A great night for Childish Gambino ends up turning into complete disaster in his new music video for “Heartbeat,” a single from his latest album “Camp.”

You may know Donald Glover from the hilarious NBC show “Community.” But what you probably didn’t know is that he raps under the name Childish Gambino, and he’s promoting his debut album “Camp,” which is in stores now.

From that album is a single called “Heartbeat,” which Gambino performed last Thursday night (Dec 22) on the “Late Show with David Letterman.”

Wearing the same red shirt, earlier in the day, the rap newcomer had also paid a visit to BET’s “106 & Park,” where he talked about how he balances his comedy, acting and music, and also kicked a freestyle.
