Police in Texas say they arrested a 22-year-old man this week after he attacked a neighbor and ate his own family’s dog alive.

Michael Terron Daniel of Waco, Texas was allegedly high on what is known as “K2″ — a form of synthetic cannabis known to exacerbate existing psychotic disorders — at the time of the June 14th incident, and was said to be “going crazy,” according to police reports.

Witnesses say the man, who had already assaulted several people in his home, told them he “was on a bad trip from ingesting K-2″ before he started crawling around “on his hands and knees and chased a neighbor” back into their home “while barking and growling like a dog.”

Daniel then allegedly took his family’s 30 to 40-pound dog out onto the front porch of the house, where he beat and strangled the pet, and began chewing “hunks of flesh” from the animal.

According to Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton, officers arrived at the house to find Daniel sitting on the porch with “blood and fur around his mouth,” and with the dead dog lying in his lap.

Police say he was “initially incoherent and unresponsive,” and while he was waiting for paramedics to arrive, Daniel asked officers to fight him or use a stun gun “to help him get off his bad trip.”

Daniel was charged with felony cruelty to a non-livestock animal and booked into the McLennan County Jail.

This latest “zombie-like” incident follows a series of bizarre attacks by people allegedly high on synthetic drugs, like bath salts, for instance. If Michael Daniel’s brutal attack sounds familiar, that’s because a guy named Rudy Eugene was shot and killed over a month ago by police in Miami after he did the same thing, but to a human being.

Police believed he was high on “bath salts,” but according to the full toxicology report from his autopsy, it was determined that no synthetic drugs were found in his system. The only “drug” that was found in his body was marijuana, which has left many medical professionals scratching their heads.

Synthetic marijuana, popularly known as “K2″ or “Spice,” is a legal substitute for the real thing, which is currently illegal in most states. However, following recent incidents, like Michael Daniel’s, officials are taking the steps necessary to get the drug banned.

In fact, a federal ban on not only synthetic drugs is on its way to President Obama for final approval after passing the Senate this week.

The bill, sponsored by New York Senator Charles Schumer, will prohibit the sale of at least 31 chemical substances — including synthetic marijuana, bath salts and other synthetic hallucinogens — sold online, in convenience stores and in smoke shops.

The media has been using the term “Zombie Apocalypse” a lot this week, following multiple incidents — in different places — where people have reportedly eaten other people’s body parts.

But what exactly is a “zombie apocalypse,” why is it one of Google’s most searched terms (it’s been a Top 10 trending topic all week) … and do us non-zombies really have anything to worry about?

The Urban Dictionary defines a so-called zombie apocalypse as:

“The End of the World … when people who have died rise again in rotten corpses searching for blood and brains to strengthen them. The Apocalypse is when all Zombies rise and destroy the world.”

While we are almost positive that the dead are not rising, in the past week, there have been multiple reports of cannibalistic activities.

And in one of the incidents, an actual brain was eaten … so we can understand where the widespread panic would come from.

Last Saturday (May 26), 31-year-old Rudy Eugene stripped completely naked, pounced on top of another man, 65-year-old Ronald Poppo, and chewed off large chunks of flesh from Poppo’s face and head near a busy freeway in Miami.

Eugene was shot dead by police, and Poppo remains in critical condition with at least 80% of his face completely gone. Police believe Eugene may have been on “bath salts” when he viciously attacked Poppo. His girlfriend thinks he was either drugged, or under a voo-doo spell.

Then, just a few days after the Miami incident comes reports from Maryland, detailing an incident in which a 21-year-old Morgan University student named Alexander Kinyua admitted to killing his roommate (37-year-old Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie), and using a knife to chop up his body parts before eating his heart and pieces of his brain.

Kodie — who lived with Kinyua and his family for about six weeks at their townhouse in a Baltimore suburb — had been missing since last Friday (May 25) after he left home for an early morning jog, and never came back.

The following Tuesday (May 29) was when Kinyua admitted his monstrous crime to police, after his father and brother called to report that they had discovered a set of human remains — a head and two hands — in a metal tin in their basement, which Kinyua originally tried to hide from them when they questioned him about it.

“He admitted to killing our missing person, Mr. Kodie, and cutting him up with a knife,” Hartford County Sheriff Jesse Bane told reporters Thursday. “He further stated that he consumed Mr. Kodie’s internal organs — specifically his heart and portions of his brain.”

In New Jersey, police say a man stabbed himself repeatedly in front of them, ripped his torso open, and then threw his skin and intestines at them.

43-year-old Wayne Carter underwent emergency surgery and remains in critical condition at a local hospital. Hackensack, New Jersey Police Lt. John Heinemann says Carter has a history of disorderly conduct, and has spent some time in a psychiatric hospital.

Then there’s the 26-year-old mixed martial arts fighter from California who is accused of ripping out the heart of his 21-year-old training partner while he was still alive, after becoming convinced that he was possessed by the devil.

Police say Jarrod Wyatt also cut out Taylor Powell‘s tongue, and ripped off most of his face in a brutal assault that they said looked like a scene straight out of a horror movie.

Wyatt was found naked, and covered in dried blood, standing over his dead friend with body parts — including an eyeball — scattered around the blood-splattered room.

According to an officer at the scene, Wyatt cooked Powell’s heart, tongue and parts of his face in a wood stove at his Klamath, California home, because he thought that Powell was still alive, and that he needed to “stop the devil.”

Police believe that Wyatt and Powell had both taken mushrooms before the horrific incident.

And that’s just here in the United States. As of Thursday (May 31), our friendly neighbors up in Canada are on an international manhunt for a man who is suspected of murdering and dismembering a friend, and mailing his body parts — a head, torso and a foot — to political party headquarters.

Canadian authorities say 29-year-old Luke Rocco Magnotta, who was born as Eric Clinton Newman, and also uses the alias Vladimir Romanov, posted a video of the killing and dismemberment online.

“We believe he filmed himself,” said Montreal police Commander Ian Lafreniere. “It’s gross.”

The victim has yet to be identified because the headless body that they discovered at Magnotta’s apartment — which was covered in blood — was too mutilated to make any immediate identification.

“I’ve been a police officer for more than 20 years now, and I met officers that were doing an investigation for more than 30 years, and they said they never saw a scene like that,” Lafreniere said.

Authorities believe Magnotta has fled the country, and may have gone to eastern Europe, though it is possible that he could have re-entered Canada under another name, because they say he’s really good at disguising himself.

With all of these gruesome, cannibalistic, inhumane incidents happening all in the same week, we can understand why everyone is in a frenzy … but officials at the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) say that the incidents shouldn’t be attributed to a “Zombie Apocalypse.”

BECAUSE ZOMBIES AREN’T FREAKING REAL, PEOPLE!!!!

“CDC does not know of a virus or condition that would reanimate the dead (or one that would present zombie-like symptoms),” agency spokesman David Daigle told The Huffington Post.

So to answer your questions … NO, there is NOT a Zombie Apocalypse … and NO, you should NOT be worried.

Just — with the exception of a little marijuana here and there — STAY AWAY FROM DRUGS and people who do them.

While zombies aren’t out to get you and eat your brain, if you know anyone who messes with “bath salts,” LSD, PCP, or even mushrooms (apparently), keep your distance.

And the “Zombie Apocalypse” continues…

Just days after a man from Miami was caught on camera eating a homeless man’s face off in broad daylight comes reports that a Maryland college student did something similar — but much more gruesome — to his roommate.

Authorities say 21-year-old Alexander Kinyua, an engineering student at Morgan State University (pictured above, to the left), admitted to not only killing his roommate … but also to using a knife to chop up his body parts before eating his heart, and parts of his brain.

37-year-old Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie had been living with Alexander Kinyua and his family for about six weeks at their townhouse in the Baltimore suburb of Joppatowne.

Kodie was reported missing last Friday (May 25) after he apparently left the home for an early morning jog, and never came back. He had left his wallet, cell phone and ID at home.

The following Tuesday, Kinyua’s father called police when Kinyua’s brother told him he had found a set human remains — a head and two hands — in a metal tin in the basement.

According to the charging document, the other son explained to the detective how he had come across two metal tins covered by a blanket in the basement laundry room of Agyei-Kodie’s Joppatowne residence. He opened the tins and found the head and hands.

The brother said he “confronted (Alexander Kinyua), who denied the remains were human,” then went upstairs to get his father, the detective said in the charging document. When the father and son returned to the basement, “the items he observed were gone and … Alex Kinyua was cleaning the container he observed them in.”

Two Harford County detectives later arrived on the scene and discovered the head and hands on the home’s main floor.

“He admitted to killing our missing person, Mr. Kodie, and cutting him up with a knife,” Harford County Sheriff Jesse Bane told reporters Thursday. “He further stated that he consumed Mr. Kodie’s internal organs — specifically his heart and portions of his brain.”

The suspect told detectives to go to the parking lot of the nearby Town Baptist Church, where they could — and did — find the rest of Agyei-Kodie’s remains in a dumpster.

Authorities have said this is one of the most brutal and bizarre killings they have ever witnessed.

“I’ve been with the agency 40 years, and I would say this is the first time I can remember … where someone was placed under arrest in Harford County and as a part of his crime he consumed the victim,” Sheriff Jesse Bane told the Baltimore Sun.

Though Kinyua confessed to the brutal murder, police say they have yet to establish a motive, though posts from Kinyua to his Facebook page suggest that he had become increasingly troubled in recent months.

In January, he was kicked out of the ROTC program after an outburst, and in May, he was arrested after he allegedly fractured a classmate’s skull with a baseball bat. He was arrested on May 20th, was released on $220,000 bail, according to reports.

One student who knew Kinyua said that the other students thought he was strange, and was “always in his own little world.”

As for the victim, the missing person’s report described Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie as “very intelligent,” having earned multiple master’s degrees from schools in his home country of Ghana. He was also a graduate student at Morgan State, but wasn’t taking classes at the time of his death.

Alexander Kinyua — aka the “Maryland Cannibal” — is being held without bond on first degree murder charge.

The Maryland attack comes just days after a man in Miami — dubbed the “Miami Cannibal” — chewed off 80% of another man’s face alongside a busy highway, and wouldn’t stop until an officer shot him to death. Witnesses say 31-year-old Rudy Eugene growled like an animal as he ate the 65-year-old Ronald Poppo’s face.

Police believe Rudy Eugene was high on a dangerous new drug called “bath salts,” the street name for the drug that is considered a replacement for cocaine or a synthetic form of the hallucinogen LSD.

Police in Miami believe that the naked homeless man who was shot and killed while he ate the face of another homeless man may have been high on a dangerous drug known as “bath salts.”

Miami police identified the cannibalistic attacker as 31-year-old Rudy Eugene. His victim — identified as 65-year-old Ronald Poppo — remains in critical condition in a Miami-area hospital after at least 75-80% of his face was chewed off.

Hospital staffers say Poppo is suffering from “some of the most horrific injuries” they have ever encountered, and he is completely unrecognizable after Eugene ate part of his nose, cheeks, ears and eyes.

The harrowing attack, which has shocked the world, took place Saturday afternoon (May 26) on a freeway bridge near Miami Beach.

According to police, Rudy Eugene, who they believe had come from a Memorial Day weekend beach party, stripped a sleeping Ronald Poppo naked, beat him, then proceeded to chew lumps of flesh from his face and head.

Eugene continued to eat the man’s face even after a Miami police officer shot him in the chest.

An eyewitness said that Eugene growled like an animal when officers told him to stop before they shot him half a dozen more times, killing him instantly.

Stomach-churning images of Ronald Poppo’s horrific injuries and the crime scene have gone viral.

The photos of the crime scene show a partially-clothed Poppo laying next to his fully nude attacker, and blood is everywhere.

Another set of photos, allegedly taken at the hospital, shows the extent of Poppo’s injuries, and the massive destruction done to his face and head. His facial features are non-existent, and all you can see is a bloody eye and a blood-soaked goatee.

Doctors, police and news reporters all theorize that Rudy Eugene was high on “bath salts,” a dangerous drug that mimics the effects of highly potent (and illegal) substances like cocaine, LSD and meth-amphetamines.

As Dr. Howard Mell, an emergency room physician from Ohio, noted to CBS News: “These are not the bath salts you buy at Victoria’s Secret … There’s not soap in them.”

Mell says that at least seven people — all under the age of 27 — have died in the two Cleveland-area hospitals where he works at as a result of using “bath salts,” which can cause severe agitation, rapid heart rate, high blood pressure and a number of other ailments.

The drug can also lead to the body overheating, which explains why Rudy Eugene stripped completely naked before his savage attack.

Users of the dangerous drug also experience hallucinations, lose touch with reality and can exhibit psychotic behavior, though calling Eugene’s behavior “psychotic” would be an understatement.

EMS workers who have responded to cases involving users who are high on “bath salts” say that they exhibit super-human strength and don’t respond to stun guns or tasers.

Several workers — and sometimes even burly police officers and/or security guards — are usually required to hold down a person who is high on “bath salts.”

“Addictive substances, whether they are bath salts, alcohol or other drugs, can have horrific and costly consequences. Sometimes these consequences can result from only one use; other times they are a result of the complex brain disease of addiction,” says Susan E. Foster, vice president and director of policy research and analysis at The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University.

“Together, risky use of addictive substances and addiction constitute our nation’s largest and most costly health problem. In the interest of health and public safety, Americans must begin to understand that substance use is a preventable public health problem and addiction is a treatable disease,” she added.

According to Jeffrey Scott, a spokesman for the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency, “bath salts” – the street name for the drug that is considered a replacement for cocaine or a synthetic form of the hallucinogen LSD — can be snorted, smoked, or broken down and injected.

Miami police have released the first photo of the naked homeless man who was shot and killed in Miami yesterday after he chewed another man’s face off.

31-year-old Rudy Eugene, pictured here in an old police mugshot, was shot dead by Miami police following a gruesome attack in which he used his teeth to rip pieces of flesh from his victim’s face and head.

His victim, another naked homeless man, is currently in serious condition at a hospital suffering from “some of the worst injuries staff had ever encountered.”

According to rescue crews who rushed the unidentified victim to nearby Jackson Memorial Hospital, at least 75 percent of his face was missing, including an eye, his ears and lips.

Miami Police say the attacker likely overdosed on what they believe is a new, more potent form of LSD.

“What’s happening is whenever we see that a person has taken all of his clothes off and has become violent, it’s indicative of this excited delirium that’s caused by overdose of drugs,” said Armando Aguilar of the Miami Fraternal Order of Police. “What’s happening is, inside their body their organs are burning up alive.”

Larry Vega, who witnessed the horrific attack first-hand, described to WSVN-TV exactly what he saw: a savage naked man chewing off the face of another naked man.

“And the guy was like tearing him to pieces with his mouth, so I told him, ‘Get off!’ You know it’s like the guy just kept eating the other guy away, like ripping his skin,” Vega said.

After witnessing what he described as a scene straight from a horror movie, Vega says he managed to flag down a Miami police officer.

“Police officer came over, told him several times to get off, and a police officer climbed over the divider and got in front of him and said, ‘Get off!’ And told him several times and the guy just stood his head up like that with a piece of flesh in his mouth and growled.”

When the grisly attack continued, Vega says the officer shot the man, but he continued to chew on the victim’s face, which at this point, was halfway eaten off.

Vega says the officer fired several more times — at least half a dozen, according to other witnesses — eventually killing the naked attacker.

Surveillance video footage from a Miami Herald security camera captured the aftermath as the two homeless men lay naked, side-by-side on the ground.

“It was just a blob of blood,” said Vega. “You couldn’t really see, it was just blood all over the place.

“It was one of the most gruesome things I have ever seen in my life in person. You know, you see these things in the movies but when you see it in person, it’s pretty traumatic.”

Traumatic can’t even properly describe an incident in which a naked man chewed another man’s face 70-80% off.

In what sounds like a scene straight out of one of those ridiculous zombie movies, a naked man was shot to death by Miami police over the weekend … while the guy was chewing another man’s face off. Unsurprisingly, police believe cocaine may have been involved.

According to confirmed reports from several media outlets, a police officer responding to reports of gunfire Saturday afternoon (May 26) found two men fighting — one of whom was naked, and literally chewing the face of the second man on a highway exit ramp, alongside the parking garage of The Miami Herald.

The officer then ordered the naked, cannibalistic man to back away, but he continued to chew the man’s face, so the officer shot him.

Despite him being shot, the naked cannibal continued to “eat” the victim’s face, so the officer shot him six more times, killing him instantly.

The other man wasn’t hit, but according to a CBS affiliate news station, police sources said the victim was unrecognizable and had “virtually no face” after the naked man had eaten it halfway off.

The second man was transported to a trauma center, and is said to have suffered critical injuries (obviously).

Miami police aren’t releasing any details about the incident, but investigators believe that the victim may have been homeless and laying down when the crazy naked man pounced on him and started chewing on his face.

Police also have a theory that the naked man was suffering from “cocaine psychosis,” which explains why he was naked … though there are no details that explain why he chewed half of the homeless man’s face off.

A Florida man was recently arrested and charged with murder after killing another man and eating parts of his body, including his eye and pieces of his brain!

Tyree Lincoln Smith (pictured above) was taken into custody after his cousin turned him over to authorities.

The body of Angel Gonzalez was found on the third floor of an abandoned building in the New England town, and a medical examiner ruled the cause of death as blunt force trauma.

The perp was turned over to the police by a cousin, who claims Smith turned up at her house on December 15 and said he wanted to “get blood on his hands,” before heading to the apartment building where he used to live.

The next day, he allegedly returned to his cousin’s with not only blood on his hands – but also his pants, while carrying an ax.

He said he had been sleeping on the porch when he was awoken by a Hispanic man, who he invited inside and then ferociously beat around the head and face, before plucking out one of his eyes, and removing brain matter and skull fragments.

According to the police report, the deranged killer took the victim’s body parts to a nearby cemetery where he ate them.

“At the cemetery he said he ate the eyeball, which tasted like an oyster, and the brain matter,” the affidavit stated.

What. The. F**k?!?

Just thinking about the gory details of this sick man’s crime makes us want to throw up in our mouths. The world may be coming to an end this year after-all, folks!
