Hip-hop star Jay-Z and New York Yankees baseball player Alex Rodriguez (aka A-Rod) battled the cold NYC air as they rode down lower Broadway on top of a big float Friday afternoon (Nov 6). The Yankees were celebrating their big World Series win over the Philadephia Phillies in a 7-3 victory, which marks the Yankees’ 27th Major League Baseball title.

At the end of the parade, Jay-Z and Roc Nation artist Bridget Kelly performed he and Alicia Keys’ hit single, “Empire State of Mind” outside of City Hall.

Being over 8,000 miles away from New York City didn’t stop Jay-Z from repping his hometown to the fullest when he performed his hit single “Empire State of Mind” from his latest album Blueprint 3 Thursday night (Nov 5) in Berlin Germany at the O2 Arena for the 2009 EMAs (Europe Music Awards).
Alicia Keys is featured on the track and music video but was unable to make it to Germany to perform the song with Jay, so his new artist Bridget Kelly filled in and to tell you the truth, homegirl could really give Alicia a run for her money! The 21-year-old LaGuardia High School graduate is signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label. For more information on her, follow her on Twitter.
