
Rock star Bono and hip-hop great Wyclef Jean were honored for their charity work Wednesday night (Nov 18) at the RFK Center Ripple of Hope Awards dinner, held at the Pier Sixty at Chelsea Piers in New York City.
Wyclef Jean, who also performed at the event, was given the Ripple of Hope Award for his ongoing contributions o the Yele Haiti organization: a non-profit with a mission to inspire change in the country of Haiti, Wyclef’s home country. U2 frontman Bono was given the award due to his work in raising awareness about health issues and poverty in Africa.

Rapper Jay-Z came out and spat some verses as he performed “Sunday Bloody Sunday” with U2 in front of Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate during the 2009 MTV EMAs (Europe Music Awards) in Germany. This comes just a few days short of the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall (Nov 9th).

U2 partnered up with MTV Europe and performed a free concert to help the city celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
