The 2011 Soul Train Awards were held in Atlanta at the Fox Theater last Thursday night (Nov 17).

Hosted by Cedric the Entertainer, this year’s Soul Train Awards saw appearances from a variety of celebrities, including R&B singer Keri Hilson, model Amber Rose, actor Lance Gross, NeNe Leakes and Cynthia Bailey from the Real Housewives of Atlanta, Tamar Braxton, our blogger friend Necole Bitchie (who won the award for Best Soul Site — CONGRATS!!), and many more.

The show also featured performances from Mindless Behavior, Common, Cee-Lo, Melanie Fiona, Robin Thicke, Eric Benet, Mary Mary, Gladys Knight, Lloyd, Miguel and a few others.

The Soul Train Awards also paid tribute to the late Heavy D midway through the ceremony with a touching video of the rapper accepting a Soul Train award for 1990′s “Big Time,” and performances from Big Daddy Kane, Naughty By Nature, Kurtis Blow and Goodie Mob.

The 2011 Soul Train Awards will air next Sunday (Nov 27) at 9 pm on BET and Centric. Until then, check out over 30+ photos from the show and red carpet below!

After a very public falling out with her family earlier this year, it looks like Keyshia Cole is back on terms with her sister Neffe and their mom Frankie!

The R&B singer threw an album pre-release party for her new album Calling All Hearts (due in stores next week) in Atlanta at Opera nightclub in Atlanta, and invited her family to celebrate with her. KC’s mom Frankie is currently featured on the VH1 reality show “Celebrity Rehab.”

R&B singer Bobby V. (formerly known as Bobby Valentino) calls on his friend, rapper Plies, to help him pick up girls and get their 10 digits (because 7 digits is so 1999) in his new music video for “Phone #.”

The Plies-featured track is the lead single from Bobby V.’s upcoming 4th studio album Fly on the Wall, due in stores October 12th and the accompanying video was directed by Fat Katz. Check it out below:

Atlanta celebrities, including Monica, T.I., Bobby Valentino, Keri Hilson and Young Jeezy were all at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, GA Wednesday night (Mar 31) to watch their Hawks take on the Los Angeles Lakers. In the end, the ATL Hawks came out victorious with a final score of 109 to 92.

Keri Hilson performed the national anthem prior to the game and was the talk of the Internet due to her forgetting some of the lyrics to the “Star Spangled Banner,” but she corrected herself and finished the song off pretty strong. Minus the flub, she did pretty good!

The 2009 BET Hip Hop Awards went down in Atlanta, GA Saturday (Oct 10). We hear Jay-Z and Young Jeezy opened the show in a big way with a surprise performance! Other tidbits from the show include the late DJ AM being the recipient of the “DJ of the Year” award, Kid & Play popping up during New Boyz‘ performance and Gucci Mane performing like 3 or 4 times. The show also featured performances from Soulja Boy, Ludacris, Jim Jones, Snoop Dogg and more.

The show, hosted by comedian Mike Epps, airs on BET on Tuesday, October 27th at 8/7c and we hear it was actually the best out of the few that have gone on over the past few years.

Gossip On This was in the house Thursday night (May 21st) as Keyshia Cole, The Dream, Keri Hilson and Bobby Valentino took the stage at the Fox Theater in Atlanta to perform their respective shows for the BET sponsored “A Different Me Tour.” Continue reading for a full review and to check out lots of exclusive pics, taken by our CEO/Editor-in-charge Dustin Gary!

Bobby Valentino came out first, performing “Tell Me,” “Anonymous,” “Slow Down,” “Them Jeans,” and his most recent hit “Beep.” In the middle of his performance, he took it back to the “old school” for a minute or two and at one point ripped his shirt off, jumped off the stage and ran up the center aisle to meet a group of hundreds (yes hundreds) of screaming women. Surprisingly, security didn’t really trip and he went back to the stage and finished his show with “Beep” and brought out ATLien Yung Joc to perform his verse.

Next up was singer/songwriter Keri Hilson, who opened up her show with her most recent single “Knock You Down.” She also performed “Energy,” got freaky with “Slow Dance,” took us back with “The Way I Are” and made sure to let everyone know who wrote Mary J Blige/Ludacris’ song “Runaway Love” and Mary J’s song “Take Me As I Am.” If you didn’t catch the hint … Ms. Keri Baby wrote them! And she sung her butt off performing them too, we can’t even hate.

Before she made her exit, she performed “Turnin’ Me On” and the ATL crowd went wild (that must be their favorite song). Next to Keyshia (we’ll get to her later) she was the best performer of the night! We were really surprised. The dancing and the singing were definitely on point so it’s safe to say Keri Hilson brought her “A” game.

After Keri exited the stage, The Dream came out to perform his show. And let’s just say … his album sounds much better. He’s not really a great live performer, so that’s definitely something he needs to work on for the future.

Anyway, he performed a pretty healthy mix of songs from his two albums Love vs. Money and Love/Hate, including “Shawty Is Da Sh*t,” “Falsetto,” “My Love,” and “Walking On The Moon.” He ended his set with the explosive hit “Rockin’ That Sh*t.” Again, the singing wasn’t really that great and his dancing was … “okay,” but he made up for it with hit hot backup dancers and of course his equally hot songs.

After The Dream was, of course, the headlining act … Keyshia Cole! She performed all of the hits from her three albums, including “I Should Have Cheated,” “Love,” “Let It Go,” “I Remember,” “Heaven Sent,” “You Complete Me,” “Playa Cardz Right” and “I Changed My Mind,” the song that introduced her to the world just 4 years ago back in the summer of 2005.

During her part of the show, she brought out her artist/friend Amina for “Shoulda Let You Go” and gave Amina a minute or two of solo stage time. Gyant from Gyant Unplugged was sitting right behind us and we were tripping at his comparison of her and Babs from Da Band (and Rah Digga lmao) … funny sh*t! Haha.

Later in her set, Keyshia took us back for a minute and did her verse from “Last Night” and also performed her most recent single, “Trust,” which features Atlanta native Monica who came out as a surprise guest. (Sidebar: We actually met Monica after the concert and we will definitely tell you that she is the coolest chick in the game and is so down to earth!) She also let her backup singers have a little solo time and let’s just say … had they had even more time, they would have definitely stole the show! One performed “Sweet Thing” and the other sang “Ain’t Nobody.” Needless to say, they surprised everyone in the crowd and had everybody on their feet giving them a standing ovation as they faded away back into the background.

Keyshia ended her show with “Make Me Over” and that was that. The end. Overall, the concert was really good … if you can get past The Dream not knowing his own choreography and his subpar singing. We love him as a songwriter and his songs are definitely hot … but someone needs to either get some vocal training or make use of backing vocals or something. But Bobby V was pretty good, Keri Hilson was damn good and Keyshia Cole did her thing just as the headliner should. We’re definitely looking forward to seeing her, along with Keri Hilson, perform live in the future!

Here’s “Hands On Me,” a brand new music video from R&B singer Bobby Valentino, whose latest album The Rebirth, is in stores now. Bobby is also touring the country as a supporting act, along with Keri Hilson, for Keyshia Cole & The Dream’s tour. Peep the “Hands On Me” video below!

R&B singer Keyshia Cole is taking her third studio album A Different Me on a 20-city U.S. tour kicking off Wednesday May 13th in Cincinnati and ending June 20th in Los Angeles. And on select dates you’ll be able to see guest performances from Keri Hilson, Bobby Valentino and/or The Dream.

Keyshia also just wrapped shooting the video treatment for her new “Trust” single with Monica, the third video from A Different Me, and is already gearing up to shoot her fourth video for the album for the song “This Is Us” just before the tour starts. But she says going on the road and performing is one of the things she loves about being an artist.

“The most gratifying thing for me in show business is having the ability to be intimate with my fans. Singing directly to them is the most intimate thing I can do,” states Keyshia.

T.I., Young Jeezy, Lil Scrappy, and Ludacris (photographed from L to R above) were just a few of the names who took the stage Sunday night at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, and according to our boy Freddy O, “everybody that was anybody was in the building!” Other rappers who took the stage were Rick Ross and Shawty Lo.

T.I., brought out by Young Jeezy, was actually a surprise guest and wasn’t originally included in the line-up. Freddy said fans at the show were a little confused since T.I. was supposed to head to prison a couple of weeks back, but a quick Google search will let them know that ol’ Clifford has until May 6th to turn himself in. Ain’t the inna-net grate?!

Atlanta’s Luckie Lounge was host to the 11th Annual BMI Atlanta Unsigned Urban Showcase, which featured performances from Lil’ Wayne, Sean Garrett and Teyana Taylor. But Usher, Lil Scrappy, Polow Da Don, Lil John, and a host of celebrities (from Atlanta and beyond) came out just to party!

JERMAINE DUPRI, DEF JAM AND TAG BODY SPRAY TEAM UP FOR NEW LABEL » Rapper/producer Jermaine Dupri and Island Def Jam are working on a new hip-hop label called “Tag Records.” The two are said to be working on a joint venture with TAG Body Spray. Jermaine will take the executive position as president and will be responsible for developing the label’s musical talent, in addition to setting the creative vision of the New York-based company. Acts signed to the label are expected to be announced next month.

“Today, we make history in the music industry with TAG Records,” said Dupri. “This label is going to provide new artists with a chance of a lifetime. New artists will receive ten times the typical marketing support – a first in the industry. I’m hand selecting and molding these artists to make history in hip hop.”

LIL’ WAYNE’S “THA CARTER III” PUSHED BACK TO JUNE » Lil’ Wayne’s new album Tha Carter III finally got a release date less than 2 weeks ago, and now his label Young Money/Cash Money/Universal Motown has decided to push the album back a month – June 10th 2008 to be exact! According to a rep from the label, Weezy decided to hold off on releasing the LP because he’s putting the finishing touches on the album. I’m still tripping over that album cover though – genius! I also hear that that cover is the REAL DEAL!

BOBBY VALENTINO PARTS WAYS WITH DTP » Word on the sidewalk is that R&B singer Bobby Valentino has cut ties with his label, Disturbing Tha Peace. But he insists that there is no bad blood between him and Ludacris‘ label.

“DTP gave me the opportunity to go out on my own, and I took it. They have played an integral part in my career – and I am thankful for everything they have done and will continue to do as I evolve as an artist,” the singer said. “I consider the entire DTP/Def Jam group my family. Chaka Zulu, Ludacris, LA Reid and everyone – they all inspired me and understood where I wanted to go with the next steps of my career. They respected me enough to let me do what I wanted to do. I realize I am very fortunate. Most artists don’t have that kind of relationship with their label, but the Def Jam Group has been good to me.”

Here Disturbing Tha Peace’s Bobby Valentino can be heard on his possible new single ‘Sexy Girl’ for his forthcoming third studio album. I admit I was in favor of a couple songs off Bobby V.’s previous album, Special Occasion, even though I found some of the material a little bland for my tastes. ‘Sexy Girl’ is the same in this case, I don’t know what it is with him, his voice is oh so boring at times. But I will – definitely – be checking for him come this album, he doesn’t completely disappoint in my opinion. In other Bobby V. news: isn’t he going to be co-staring with Ciara in that new TBA Broadway movie Mama, I Wanna Sing?
