A Florida man named Thomas Marasciullo filed a copyright infringement lawsuit Friday (Oct 31) in a Manhattan federal court against rappers Lil Wayne and Birdman. The suit was also filed against their record label and various music distribution outlets.
Marasciullo is looking for recognition in a voice over that Wayne used back in 2006. The lawsuit against Cash Money states that Thomas recorded some Italian styled word arrangements and Lil’ Wayne and Birdman used them without permission (or pay) on a track entitled “Respect.”
AP reports: “The gold-selling “Like Father, Like Son” hit the top of the R&B/hip-hop album chart. Several short tracks that Marasciullo says he wrote, recorded and copyrighted — including “Loyalty” and “Respect” — feature a man’s voice delivering mob-movie-flavored repartee.
Among the remarks, from “Loyalty”: “The main name in this game is respect and loyalty. Family is a big thing. When we do this kind of business, everything is with respect.” The lawsuit says Marasciullo’s recordings were used in four tracks on that album and five on “5 (Star) Stunna.”

Baby aka “Birdman” and Lil Wayne have a strange relationship. A VERY strange relationship. Granted, Baby did take Wayne as a son in back in the day but that’s more than beside the point. A photo of the two of them greeting each other by kissing in the mouth leaked to the ‘net a couple of years back and ever since, people have been looking at them like Twitter’s default avatar … o_O.
But do you think either of them give a damn? Nope, not at all. In a recent radio interview with Tim Westwood, Birdman attempted to justify the kiss bringing up that Lil Wayne “is is son,” and he said he’d do it again. And again, and again, and again. Because that’s what father and son do every time they see each other. Right?

A former Cash Money Records producer named Tristan “T Mix” Jones is suing the label for over $2 million, claiming that he’s owed that much from them for his work with several of their artists including Birdman and their biggest artist, Lil Wayne.
In a federal lawsuit, Jones claims he signed an exclusive production contract with Cash Money Records in November 2005. Between 2005 and 2007, Cash Money allegedly released more than 40 master recordings produced by Jones on hit albums such as “5 * Stunna,” “Like Father Like Son,” “Fast Money,” and “Tha Carter II.”
In exchange for Jones’ exclusive production services, Jones says Cash Money promised to pay production royalties on the suggested retail list price. Cash Money has sold well over 3 million album copies in the United States and Canada alone, Jones claims, and has received at least $30 million from his recordings. Jones says Cash Money owes him at least $2.25 million, but has paid him only about $187,000. Jones seeks damages for breach of contract in Federal Court. He is represented by Robert Johnston of Fowler, Rodriguez.

This news comes shortly after reports of Lil’ Wayne’s forthcoming album, The Rebirth, being pushed back or possibly being dropped all together.

MIAMI // TUESDAY, OCTOBER 7TH 2008 » I’m gonna do something different, and go against the norm. I’m not gonna make any jokes about Lil’ Wayne & Baby and their highly disturbing “relationship” as father and son. But I am gonna remind you that they kiss each other in the mouth. No seriously … they do. Anyway, back to the subject at hand. Dwayne celebrated his 26th g’day in Miami Tuesday night, and guess what his “daddy” gave him as a gift? $1,000,000. We’re in the middle of recession and folks are handing out cash like it’s candy. Can someone please help me understand this? More flicks from the shindig after the break.
