Rapper Jay-Z brought out the big guns when he performed Friday night (Sep 11) in New York City’s famed arena, Madison Square Garden for the “Answer the Call” 9/11 benefit concert. The Brooklyn, NYC born and raised hip-hop icon performed some of his biggest hits from his old albums and some new songs from his most recent album, The Blueprint 3. Rihanna, Kanye West, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Diddy, Pharrell, Swizz Beatz, John Mayer, Kid Cudi and Santigold joined Jay-Z on stage during the sold-out concert. All proceeds from the show went to the New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund.

Mama Tina was even in the crowd showing her son-in-law some love and throwing up the Roc sign!

Beyonce and Jay-Z took in the 2009 Barclays Golf Tournament at Liberty National Golf Course in Jersey City Sunday afternoon (Aug 30). The couple watched Tiger Woods tee off and followed the golf champ around the course.

Later that day, the two of them headed to the Williamsburg Waterfront in Brooklyn to watch the Grizzly Bears perform at the Jelly NYC Pool Party. Check out all of the pics from their eventful Sunday afternoon below.

Rapper Jay-Z hosted a press conference early Monday (Aug 31) at Madison Square Garden in New York City for his upcoming “Answer the Call” charity concert, due to be held at MSG on September 11th, the day his album, Blueprint 3, drops. The show’s purpose is to raise money for the New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund.

Beyonce and Kevin Liles, Executive VP of Warner Music Group, were also on hand at the press conference for the benefit.

Here’s Beyonce’s new L’Oreal ad for the 2009 Holiday season. No need to say how beautiful or how hot she looks in the ad. That’s just so redundant :-D Beyonce has been with the cosmetics company since 2004 and her 5-year deal is worth close to $5 million, which is great considering she only has to work 10 days a year. That amounts up to about $125,000 for one day of work!

Anyway, according to “Project Runway” contestant Chris March’s attorneys, Beyonce is NOT the one who owes him money. Chris, the third runner-up in the fourth season of hit fashion reality show, is actually suing the singer’s designer Thierry Mugler, who served as the creative adviser for her critically acclaimed “I Am…” tour, after he and his company, Tancrede Prinz, LLC, failed to pay him for the extravagant stage costumes he helped make, reports Coco Perez.

“Chris March’s lawsuit is not against Beyonce, but rather against Thierry Mugler and Tancrede Prinz, who owe Chris money for having designed and fitted Beyonce’s costumes. Beyonce paid them, but they in turn have not paid Chris. Chris continues to be a fan and great admirer of Beyonce who looks beautiful in everything she wears, especially Chris’s costumes.”

MTV officially announced Thursday (Aug 27) that Beyonce would be taking the stage at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards to perform her latest single, “Sweet Dreams!” This makes the third time Beyonce, who’s up for an impressive nine moonmen, has performed at the VMAs.

Up and coming rapper Wale, along with legendary Washington, D.C. go-go band UCB, have been tapped to perform as the official house band for the night. He and the group will join forces with the All-American Rejects, Pitbull and 3OH!3 to perform versions of the year’s biggest hits

The 2009 VMAs are set to air live from New York City’s Radio City Music Hall Sunday, September 3rd at 9 PM.

Ever year, Billboard honors a female recording artist that has inspired the music business with her success, leadership and new ideas with their “Billboard Woman of The Year” award. Billboard announced Tuesday (Aug 25) that Beyonce was the woman that they chose to honor due to her many accomplishments over the past 12 months.

In the last year, Beyoncé kicked off her world tour “I Am…” in support of her third solo album “I Am…Sasha Fierce,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart in November and features the hit singles “If I Were A Boy,” “Single Ladies,” “Halo,” “Ego” and “Sweet Dreams.” The tour also showcased Beyoncé’s philanthropic side as she gave 2,500 tickets to families affected by the auto industry crisis in Detroit and joined forces with General Mills Hamburger Helper and Feeding America to deliver 3.5 million meals to local food banks.

“Beyoncé is a multi-platinum artist and a multi-talented woman who clearly embodies the qualities of excellence and achievement that the Billboard Woman Of The Year Award was created to honor,” said Bill Werde, Billboard’s Editorial Director, about Beyoncé, who is the only performer in the 51-year history of the Billboard Hot 100 to top the chart for 10 weeks or more with a group and as a solo artist. “She has not only influenced pop culture with her hit songs and signature dance moves, but has inspired women everywhere with her unique style, business savvy and dedication to charitable causes.”

Though it hasn’t been confirmed by neither her nor MTV, it’s being rumored that Beyonce will be performing at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.

Her backup dancer Ashley Everett, who can be seen in all the Sasha Fierce videos this era, broke the news through her twitter that Beyonce will be performing:

Lady Gaga and Bey’s husband Jay-Z are also expected to perform at the live event on Sunday, September 13th at 9 PM.

The man doing his job to protect Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z while the couple were spending some quality time together in Croatia last week will walk free of charges.

The charges originally brought against Julius the bodyguard were officially thrown out in court last week, meaning there will be no jail time for the big bodyguard, who had assaulted paparazzi and destroyed some of their personal property, including throwing one camera man’s tripod into the sea only after the same camera man threw it at him as his back was turned.

The bodyguard will reportedly be fined an undisclosed sum for the damaged equipment and police will not pursue further legal action.

Beyonce’s tour manager Marlon Beyince, who just so happens to be her cousin as well, took to his Twitter page yesterday and came at Rihanna (the “i” comes BEFORE the h, Mr. Beyince), claiming she can’t sing and that she is Def Jam’s version of Cassie. He posted:

“Is it me or i think The good ole Jay could of found SOMEBODY else to sing the hook on this song….She sound like a cat hurt in the alley”

“Rhianna – Roc Nation’s/Def Jam’s Cassie……Terrible voice, Sub Par Dancing, Nude Photos, Shaved Head…Rhianna’s just more successful”

“God please dont let me get in trouble for my tweets Lmfao!!!!!”

He later decided to delete the tweets but little does he know, it takes a while for Twitter to delete the messages across all of their servers. But some people just don’t learn. Posting something on Twitter then later deleting it doesn’t mean it won’t get out.

Let’s just hope it’s Beyonce that gets the news and not Sasha Fierce. We all know how she gets down! Sasha don’t give a damn about no nepotism…
