With the season finale of “The Game” coming up in just a few weeks, it has been confirmed that Tia Mowry and her on-screen husband Pooch Hall will NOT be coming back to the show next season.

According to a well placed source, HipHollywood.com has learned exclusively that Tia Mowry and Pooch Hall will NOT return to BET’s highest rated show, The Game.

Our source also added that both are very busy right now, Hall is working on another project, while Mowery is still filming her Style network reality show.

Tia Mowry herself also confirmed the shocking news via her Twitter page:

“Just wanted to let all my fans know that I will not be returning to The Game for season 6. It was an incredible run and I had lots of fun along the way. I am looking forward to my upcoming projects…the release of my book #OhBaby [today!], season 2 of @TiaTameraShow on @mystyle premiering in June, and my @ABCFamily movie coming out in December…more to come!” love u so much

“The Game” — which is largely based on the lives of NFL star Derwin Davis (Pooch Hall) and Dr. Melanie Barnett Davis (Tia Mowry) — was recently renewed by BET for a sixth season, so fans of the show will definitely be shocked to learn that the central characters to the overall plot will be leaving.

Earlier this month, Pooch Hall told his Twitter followers that even though he is filming a new Showtime series, he would still be able to do “The Game,” and was hoping that BET would work something out … but it looks like they weren’t able to work anything out after-all.

Nicki Minaj‘s “Stupid Hoe” music video is already causing controversy. BET has reportedly banned the Young Money star’s latest video from airing on the network.

According to sources, the video is too explicit for TV and the lyrics don’t make things much better either, with Nicki singing Stupid Hoe over a million times in the song.

A rep for BET wouldn’t specify why they won’t be broadcasting it, but we should all know the answer to that one by now.

Hey … at least Nicki broke the Vevo Record of most views in 24 hours (nearly 5 million), so she’s still winning regardless!

The Season 5 premiere of BET’s most popular and most watched scripted TV series “The Game” was watched by over 5 million people Tuesday night (Jan 10), according to the Los Angeles Times.

If you recall, last year when the show’s 4th season premiered on BET after hiatus, it was watched by 7.7 million viewers, making it the top-rated ad-supported sitcom in broadcast cable history. Meanwhile, last year’s season finale reached 4.4 million viewers.

After returning for its second season on BET, though the show’s 5th season premiere performed impressively with over 5.3 million viewers, the L.A. Times notes that it failed to match last year’s record.

Still … over 5 million is pretty decent though, right?

It was a big night in Hollywood Thursday night (Jan 5) as BET celebrated the return of two of their original series “The Game” and “Let’s Stay Together” at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

BET‘s top-rated scripted series “The Game” is set to return for a brand new season beginning Tuesday, January 10th 2012 at 10pm.

Picking up where it left off, Melanie (Tia Mowry Hardrict) contends with Derwin’s (Pooch Hall) abortion accusation; Malik (Hosea Chanchez) and Tasha (Wendy Raquel Robinson) struggle to wrangle an intoxicated Jenna (Tika Sumpter); and Kelly (Brittany Daniel) is still off in the world trying to find herself, leaving Jason (Coby Bell) forced to come to terms with his feelings towards Black women.

The new season also ushers in a new love interest for Jason, who is sure to shake things up!

BET also revealed that R&B singer Brandy will join the cast of “The Game” as a recurring character (Maybe she’s Jason new love interest?).

According to recent reports, viewers can also expect guest appearances from Selita Ebanks, NeNe Leakes, Estelle, Shawn Marion,  Rockmond Dunbar, DeRay Davis and the Emmy Award winning Loretta Devine, among others.

“The Game,” created by Mara Brock Akil (who also created the hit UPN series “Girlfriends”), was canceled by the CW due to low viewership after three seasons back in May 2009 when it was averaging only 2 million viewers.

BET picked the show up in 2010, and its subsequent Season 4 premiere in January 2011 drew 7.7 million viewers, making it the best showing ever for the series on cable broadcast, and BET’s most watched telecast.

With renewed interest in the show and a star-studded list of guest appearances, it will most definitely be interesting to see how many people watch the show when it premieres in January 2012.

Rap veteran Heavy D took it back to the old school days of Hip-Hop with his BET Hip-Hop Awards performance, which closed out the 6th annual show.

Dressed in all black, a svelte Heavy D did some smooth, choreographed dance moves as he performed a medley of his chart-topping hits, including “Nothin’ But Love,” “We Got Our Own Thing,” and “Somebody for Me,” making the audience feel like they were on a time machine that took them back to the early 90′s.

And in the middle of his set, Heavy D was joined by R&B crooner Tyrese, and the duo performed Heavy D’s 90′s club anthem “Now That We’ve Found Love.”

The 2011 BET Hip-Hop Awards, hosted by comedian/actor Mike Epps, were held on October 1st in Atlanta, GA at the Civic Center, and aired on BET Tuesday night (Oct 11).

Big Sean and Roscoe Dash brought the “Marvin & Chardonnay” to the 2011 BET Hip-Hop Awards.

Clad in a red hoodie and jean vest combo jacket, Big Sean kicked off his BET HHAs set with “I Do It” (a song from his debut album “Finally Famous”), followed by a performance of his hit single “Marvin & Chardonnay,” featuring a guest appearance from Roscoe Dash.

Kanye West, who also appears on the song, was not in attendance at this year’s Hip-Hop Awards, and wasn’t a part of Big Sean’s performance.

Lupe Fiasco, dressed in a black tee with the word “occupy” printed on it, tried to make a statement as he performed his “Words I Never Said” single alongside singer Erykah Badu (who, filling in for Skylar Grey, didn’t reveal her identity until the end of the performance when she took a black veil off that was covering her face).

One of the biggest surprises of the 2011 BET Hip-Hop Awards was when DMX, whose appearance wasn’t even advertised, hit the stage and performed a medley of his hits.

Joined by Swizz Beatz as his hype-man, the growling human dog got the crowd amped up with his performances of “Get at Me Dog,” “Ruff Ryders Anthem” and “Party Up.”

Maybach Music Group‘s biggest artists — Rick Ross, Wale and Meek Mill — graced the stage of the 2011 BET Hip-Hop Awards, which were held earlier this month (Sat. Oct 1st) in Atlanta at the Civic Center, and aired last night (Tue. Oct 11th) on BET.

90′s R&B crooner El DeBarge, who has recently been making a comeback and popping up at almost every BET awards show, opened up the performance by singing the intro the “That Way,” which lead into Wale’s appearance, followed by fellow MMG newcomer Meek Mill, who performed his single “I’ma Boss”

With flames in the background and to much fanfare, MMG’s head honcho Rick Ross joined his artists on stage, asserting his status as a “Bawse” as he rapped along to his verse on Meek Mill’s song.

A shirtless Wiz Khalifa jumped around like a little maniac as he showed love to the “Taylor Gang” with his performance at this year’s BET Hip-Hop Awards in Atlanta.

The Hip-Hop newcomer rocked a pair of skinny shorts and his signature Chuck Taylors as he chanted “Taylor,” “Gang,” “Taylor,” “Gang,” during the show that aired last night (Oct 11) on BET following its original recording in Atlanta on October 1st.

Following a grand entrance in the middle of Young Jeezy‘s performance, T.I. got the crowd amped up as he performed his new Big K.R.I.T. produced single “I’m Flexin” at the 2011 BET Hip-Hop Awards.

This particular performance served as Tip’s first televised performance since being released from prison last month.

Ironically, T.I. was arrested just fours hours before the 2007 BET Hip-Hop Awards outside a Walgreen’s parking lot after federal agents discovered he was purchasing an arsenal of unregistered machine guns and silencers.

The rapper recently joked that he had a “Love-Hate” relationship with the show because of that particular incident. But now, T.I. is finally out of prison and back to doing what he does best: putting on a damn good show.

Young Jeezy lit the stage on fire (literally!) as he opened up the 2011 BET Hip-Hop Awards with fellow ATLien T.I., who just days before was released from an Atlanta halfway house.

The BET HHAs were held October 1st in Atlanta at the Civic Center, and the show finally aired on BET last night (Oct 11).

Jeezy kicked off the festivities with his latest single “F.A.M.E. (Fake A** Mothaf**kas Envy)“ and was joined by T.I., who rapped his verse on the track, and later segued into his own solo performance of his new come-back song “I’m Flexin.”

One of BET’s highly rated nightly shows may have been cancelled, according to new reports that state that Oscar-winning actress turned talk show host Mo’Nique‘s nightly slot has been put on an “indefinite hiatus,” which is a big ol’ fancy phrase for CANCELLED.

According to AJCRadio TV Blog, writer Rodney Ho contacted the network to confirm the status of the much loved show. He later got an email from a BET rep which said “The Mo’Nique Show will be on production hiatus beginning in the fall.”

Sidekick to the show Rodney Perry is alleged to have confirmed in a text, “I was told indefinite hiatus.”

He later went on to say that his experience of working on the show has been enjoyable.

“We did some good work. And I think the show is significant. There hasn’t been an outlet for people of color late night since Arsenio. They haven’t had this type of investment ever. We did 300 shows over two seasons. That’s a huge investment.” He continued, “I’m selling out shows now, that’s a win.”

Awww … and another good show bites the dust! Wonder what the problem was though?

BET hosted its 2011 Upfront event this past Wednesday (Apr 20) at the Best Buy Theater, in New York City. Celebs who attended the event included “The Game” stars Hosea Chanchez, Wendy Raquel Robinson, and Pooch Hall, along with BET CEO Debra Lee, 106 and Park hosts Rocsi and Terrence J, on-air personality Wendy Williams, and more.

The press event also featured a performance from R&B singer Marsha Ambrosius and a surprise appearance from rapper Doug E. Fresh.

All of you ‘The Game’ fans can breathe a sigh of relief as the show has been renewed for a fifth season. According to Deadline, BET will make the official announcement Wednesday that they have ordered 22 episodes for the show’s upcoming season.

After BET rescued the show from cancellation its former network The CW, the series has brought in record ratings. When ‘The Game’ debuted on BET earlier this year, it pulled in an astounding 7.7 million viewers, which topped the 2 million viewers it pulled while on The CW network and the 4.4 million that said goodbye when the 4th season ended.

BET is also expected to renew their newest original series ‘Let’s Stay Together’ and announce a series pickup for ‘Reed Between the Lines’ which stars former ‘Girlfriends’ actress Tracee Ellis Ross as a busy psychiatrist, and also stars former ‘Cosby Show’ actor Malcolm Jamal-Warner.

‘The Game’ stars Tia Mowry, Pooch Hall, Hosea Chanchez, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Coby Bell and Brittany Daniel. In the BET revival season, the show featured multiple appearances from Meagan Good, Terrence J and others.

BET aired their annual “Rip The Runway” Fashion Show Monday night (Mar 21). The event, held last month in New York City, and hosted by Hollywood hotties Selita Ebanks & Mehcad Brooks, featured performances by some of music’s best and brightest including R&B singers Keri Hilson, Melanie Fiona, Miguel, Lloyd and rap newcomer Wiz Khalifa.

Yesterday afternoon (Mar 21), R&B sensation Chris Brown paid a visit to BET’s 106 & Park in New York City to promote his new album F.A.M.E.

While there, the 21-year-old crooner treated lucky onlookers to live performances of  his hit song song “Deuces,” (f/ Tyga) as well as “Look At Me Now” (f/ Busta Rhymes) and  “Ain’t Thinking About You” (f/ Bow Wow).
