Game back on! Now in its 6th season, BET’s “The Game” has returned to television … though this time things are a bit different, as everyone’s favorite couple “Derwin & Melanie” has been replaced by newcomers “Keira and Bryce.”

After months of searching, BET has finally found a new set of personalities to host their music video countdown show “106 & Park.”

The network made the big reveal on Monday’s (Oct 1) edition of the show. In replace of former hosts Terrence J and Rocsi, BET’s “106 & Park” will now be hosted by Miss Mykie, Kimberly “Paigion” Walker, Shorty Da Prince and Shad Moss, best known as the rapper Bow Bow.

As you can tell, BET has decided to ditch the two-person (1 guy, 1 girl) hosting setup in favor of a four-host (2 guys, 2 girls) production.

“106 & Park has always been home to me, so now it’s official,” said Bow Wow — who is coincidentally nicknamed ‘Mr. 106 & Park.’ “I’m here now. This is my job every day. I’m here now to bring y’all the hottest show on the planet.”

Last Friday (Sep 28), Terrence Jenkins and Rocsi Diaz were joined by Pooch Hall, LaLa Anthony, Jim Jones, French Montana, and many others as they bid farewell to “106 & Park” after 7 years.

“We’re so proud of Terrence and Rocsi as they head into the next phases of their careers,” said BET President Stephen Hill.

“They leave behind the legacies of being the longest running hosts of 106 & Park as well as the hosts that presided over the show’s most successful season ever. Terrence J is set to appear as a new co-host on E! News, while his co-host Rocsi will moving from New York to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career.

BET’s “106 & Park,” which premiered in 2000, is one of the longest running shows of its kind, and has long been a promotional platform for recording artists and entertainers.

“106″ will continue to air weekdays, Monday through Friday, on BET at 6 pm ET.

They used to be friends: Rick Ross and Young Jeezy greet each other at a party in Atlanta hosted by Jay-Z back in 2007.

Rappers Rick Ross and Young Jeezy — two of Hip-Hop’s biggest superstars, who have been beefing behind the scenes for years — were reportedly involved in a physical altercation backstage this weekend at the 2012 BET Hip-Hop Awards in Atlanta.

Details vary, depending on who you ask, but here’s the jist of it.

According to several eyewitness, after crossing paths backstage … Ross and Jeezy started pushing and shoving each other, forcing BET security and their respective bodyguards to have to separate the both of them.

The scuffle was captured on video, which can be viewed below:

In the video, security can be seen stepping in between the various combatants almost immediately, separating everyone before the fight got out of hand. A shirtless Rick Ross can be seen yelling before being escorted away from the scene.

Whoever Ross was yelling at tried to follow after him, but security stepped in before he could get there. There was one casualty however — a random mirror. [TMZ]

According to TMZ sources, after the fight had been broken up, while outside in the parking lot, a member of Rick Ross’ entourage pulled out a handgun and fired shots into the air.

A spokesman for the Atlanta Police Department said, “Shortly after 7:15 pm Saturday, a fight broke out in the parking lot at the Atlanta Civic Center (where the BET Awards were being taped) between two groups. Atlanta Police Department officers on scene responded to break up the fight and used OC spray in the process. Individuals fled the scene. There were no arrests or reports of serious injuries. Reports of shots fired appear to be untrue” … however TMZ’s sources maintain that shots were DEFINITELY fired.

DJ Drama, who was on his way out of the building to host his radio show when the altercation took place, told his listeners of the backstage brawl:

Some words got exchanged. There were some ‘What’s ups’. Security got hostile. [There was] some interesting conflict between Ross and Jeezy and it just went bad backstage.

I’m assuming that there is no way BET thought that these guys were gonna run into each other. Definitely not.  All parties walked away unscathed that’s for sure. One party went one way, one party went the other.

All this stuff about shots getting fired. I can’t confirm any of that. I left.

It was later revealed that another fight broke out in the parking lot between 50 Cent‘s crew and Gunplay — a Maybach Music Group (Rick Ross’ label) rapper with a very fitting name.

WorldStarHipHop posted grainy cell phone video footage of what appears to be Gunplay after being jumped by at least 5 members of G-Unit (50 Cent’s entourage).

According to the video’s description, the person recording the video started filming “after 4 members left and GunPlay was going toe to toe with the 5th member. The cops pepper sprayed him then he ran off toward 2 Chainz trailor.. soon after Gun Play was arrested.”

Multiple sources who witnessed the outdoor brawl confirmed to MTV News that Gunplay got into a physical altercation with members of 50 Cent’s camp; and Gunplay was “seen with visible wounds,” and put into handcuffs and detained, but a different source close to Gunplay later told MTV that he wasn’t arrested.

As MTV pointed out, most of the crowd inside the Atlanta Civic Center where the actual show was going on, were unaware of the drama backstage and outside — unless, of course, they were following it on Twitter or something via their cell phones.

The fights reportedly happened around the same time A Tribe Called Quest, Missy Elliott, Busta Rhymes and other rappers were paying tribute to fallen music mogul Chris Lighty, who committed suicide in August. Known rap rivals 50 Cent and Fat Joe even put aside their differences (even if only for the moment) to honor their late friend.

Meanwhile, in response to the various fights that went on between opposing rap groups, a rep for BET released the following statement:

“Tonight during a taping of the BET Hip Hop Awards 2012 (not the BET Awards which went down without incident two months ago) an altercation between two rap entourages broke out backstage. Atlanta police and BET security quickly defused the altercation.

“BET Networks works very hard to bring the best in entertainment to the city of Atlanta. For the past 7 years BET has celebrated the true art form of Hip Hop. Due to some misjudgment of select attendees, it is unfortunate that certain incidents took place. BET Networks does not condone any type of violence. Local authorities are working to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.

“Despite the actions of a few the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards embodied the true spirit of hip hop and was not impacted at all by any incidents. Tune in on Tuesday, October 9, 8P/7C to watch the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards.”

Young Jeezy and Rick Ross, both signed to Def Jam, have been beefing for years, with each taking shots at one another on various tracks since 2010.

Despite their alleged altercation, both rappers were able to successfully perform their respective sets during the Hip-Hop Awards, BET sources reported.

Unfortunately, the BET Hip-Hop Awards has somewhat of a bad rep when it comes to stuff like this. Five years ago, T.I. was infamously arrested on gun charges just before the show, where he was scheduled to appear and perform.

Following the sudden and unexplained departures of Tia Mowry and Pooch Hall from BET‘s hit dramedy “The Game,” the network has confirmed that actress Lauren London has joined the cast of the show.

Though BET hasn’t officially revealed what part London will be playing on the show, it is assumed that the her role will be similar to Tia Mowry’s “Melanie Barnett Davis” character.

Last month, TheYBF.com reported that the former “ATL” and “90210″ actress had landed the lead female role on the show and said that she will be playing a girl named Kiera, a former child star who has a job on a popular sitcom.

The website also revealed that actor Jay Ellis (“Hart of Dixie,” “NCIS”) would be taking on the new lead male role — Bryce “The Blueprint” Westwood (aka Blue), a star running back from the Ivy League who rubs some of the Sabers the wrong way … but so far, BET has yet to confirm that.

Returning for the upcoming sixth season of “The Game” are Wendy Raquel Robinson, Coby Bell, Hosea Chachez, Brandy Norwood and Barry A. Floyd.

With the season finale of “The Game” coming up in just a few weeks, it has been confirmed that Tia Mowry and her on-screen husband Pooch Hall will NOT be coming back to the show next season.

According to a well placed source, HipHollywood.com has learned exclusively that Tia Mowry and Pooch Hall will NOT return to BET’s highest rated show, The Game.

Our source also added that both are very busy right now, Hall is working on another project, while Mowery is still filming her Style network reality show.

Tia Mowry herself also confirmed the shocking news via her Twitter page:

“Just wanted to let all my fans know that I will not be returning to The Game for season 6. It was an incredible run and I had lots of fun along the way. I am looking forward to my upcoming projects…the release of my book #OhBaby [today!], season 2 of @TiaTameraShow on @mystyle premiering in June, and my @ABCFamily movie coming out in December…more to come!” love u so much

“The Game” — which is largely based on the lives of NFL star Derwin Davis (Pooch Hall) and Dr. Melanie Barnett Davis (Tia Mowry) — was recently renewed by BET for a sixth season, so fans of the show will definitely be shocked to learn that the central characters to the overall plot will be leaving.

Earlier this month, Pooch Hall told his Twitter followers that even though he is filming a new Showtime series, he would still be able to do “The Game,” and was hoping that BET would work something out … but it looks like they weren’t able to work anything out after-all.

Nicki Minaj‘s “Stupid Hoe” music video is already causing controversy. BET has reportedly banned the Young Money star’s latest video from airing on the network.

According to sources, the video is too explicit for TV and the lyrics don’t make things much better either, with Nicki singing Stupid Hoe over a million times in the song.

A rep for BET wouldn’t specify why they won’t be broadcasting it, but we should all know the answer to that one by now.

Hey … at least Nicki broke the Vevo Record of most views in 24 hours (nearly 5 million), so she’s still winning regardless!

The Season 5 premiere of BET’s most popular and most watched scripted TV series “The Game” was watched by over 5 million people Tuesday night (Jan 10), according to the Los Angeles Times.

If you recall, last year when the show’s 4th season premiered on BET after hiatus, it was watched by 7.7 million viewers, making it the top-rated ad-supported sitcom in broadcast cable history. Meanwhile, last year’s season finale reached 4.4 million viewers.

After returning for its second season on BET, though the show’s 5th season premiere performed impressively with over 5.3 million viewers, the L.A. Times notes that it failed to match last year’s record.

Still … over 5 million is pretty decent though, right?

Meanwhile, Malik and Tasha deal with a drunken Jenna. Later, Tasha corners Malik about his relationship with Jenna; and a wild night comes back to haunt Jason.

It was a big night in Hollywood Thursday night (Jan 5) as BET celebrated the return of two of their original series “The Game” and “Let’s Stay Together” at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

Some of the stars who walked the red carpet of the premiere party were “The Game” actors Pooch Hall, Tia Mowry, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Hosea Chanchez and Coby Bell, as well as R&B singer/actress Brandy, singer/socialite Teyana Taylor, “Let’s Stay Together” actors RonReaco Lee and Joyful Drake, and more.

Kyla Pratt even showed up with her boyfriend/baby daddy Danny Kilpatrick, as well as Larenz Tate, Vanessa Williams, Elise Neal, The Game’s creator Mara Brock Akil and a few others.

BET‘s top-rated scripted series “The Game” is set to return for a brand new season beginning Tuesday, January 10th 2012 at 10pm.

The seduction continues as infidelity, ambition, secrets and betrayal collide to make season five the most compelling yet.

Picking up where it left off, Melanie (Tia Mowry Hardrict) contends with Derwin’s (Pooch Hall) abortion accusation; Malik (Hosea Chanchez) and Tasha (Wendy Raquel Robinson) struggle to wrangle an intoxicated Jenna (Tika Sumpter); and Kelly (Brittany Daniel) is still off in the world trying to find herself, leaving Jason (Coby Bell) forced to come to terms with his feelings towards Black women.

The new season also ushers in a new love interest for Jason, who is sure to shake things up!

BET also revealed that R&B singer Brandy will join the cast of “The Game” as a recurring character (Maybe she’s Jason new love interest?).

According to recent reports, viewers can also expect guest appearances from Selita Ebanks, NeNe Leakes, Estelle, Shawn Marion,  Rockmond Dunbar, DeRay Davis and the Emmy Award winning Loretta Devine, among others.

“The Game,” created by Mara Brock Akil (who also created the hit UPN series “Girlfriends”), was canceled by the CW due to low viewership after three seasons back in May 2009 when it was averaging only 2 million viewers.

BET picked the show up in 2010, and its subsequent Season 4 premiere in January 2011 drew 7.7 million viewers, making it the best showing ever for the series on cable broadcast, and BET’s most watched telecast.

With renewed interest in the show and a star-studded list of guest appearances, it will most definitely be interesting to see how many people watch the show when it premieres in January 2012.

Rap veteran Heavy D took it back to the old school days of Hip-Hop with his BET Hip-Hop Awards performance, which closed out the 6th annual show.

Dressed in all black, a svelte Heavy D did some smooth, choreographed dance moves as he performed a medley of his chart-topping hits, including “Nothin’ But Love,” “We Got Our Own Thing,” and “Somebody for Me,” making the audience feel like they were on a time machine that took them back to the early 90′s.

And in the middle of his set, Heavy D was joined by R&B crooner Tyrese, and the duo performed Heavy D’s 90′s club anthem “Now That We’ve Found Love.”

The 2011 BET Hip-Hop Awards, hosted by comedian/actor Mike Epps, were held on October 1st in Atlanta, GA at the Civic Center, and aired on BET Tuesday night (Oct 11).
