Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon‘s newborn twins Moroccan and Monroe — aka “Dem Babies” — made their big world debut during their parents’ highly publicized interview with Barbara Walters on ABC’s “20/20″ that aired Friday evening (Oct 21).

MiMi and Nick showed off their beautiful babies as they talked about everything in the interview, from being new parents to married life, their struggle to conceive, Carey’s high-risk pregnancy and much more.

“I don’t think I understood the enormity and the magnitude of what it really does to your body,” 41-year-old Carey told Walters. “Carrying two babies. Unless somebody’s been through it, it’s difficult to understand what I went through, because my pregnancy was very unique in terms of what happened to me.”

As for Nick, he said he doesn’t want them to follow too much in their famous parent’s footsteps, and he’s already planning ahead for his children’s future, calling the tins “little geniuses.”

“Society puts too much on entertainment and entertainers,” Cannon said. “They praise them like they’re royalty, especially in America, where it should really be about the teachers or, you know, the doctors. I want them to be able to sing as beautifully as their mother. I want them to be able to play instruments and everything. But I want them like … ‘Go get a Ph.D.’”

Back in June, Nick Cannon told US Weekly that his son Roc was “laid back like me,” while daughter Roe takes after her mother. “My daughter’s a diva like her mom,” he said.

After much fanfare and anticipation, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon welcomed their new additions into the world at a hospital in L.A. on their fourth wedding anniversary on April 30th.

Earlier this week during The View‘s “Hot Topics” segment, a discussion about how Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry has a rock outside his family’s hunting lodge that has the word “N**gerhead” printed on it (REALLY?!?) led to another debate about the general issue over use of the “N-Word.”

And as with any debate on The View, things heated up pretty quickly, with Sherri strongly disagreeing with Barbara Walters‘ use of the word in the middle of the discussion.

Whoopi Goldberg first used the word while quoting presidential candidate Hermain Cain, and Walters repeated it in context of their conversation, telling her co-hosts, “It’s very hard for me to say. … The fact that I just said it now gives me chills.”

When Walters let the word finally come out of her mouth, Sherri Shepherd, who has in the past shared how she’s been the victim of racially-motivated bullying, expressed how she was offended.

“I didn’t like the way you said it,” Shepherd told her co-host. “I don’t know if it’s a semantics thing, but it’s something that goes through my body.”

Shepherd told Goldberg, “When I heard you say it, it was fine. You said it a different way,” which prompted Walters to ask Shepherd point-blank if she took offense to the use of her using the word was because Walters was white.

“Yeah, it’s something about hearing you say it,” Shepherd said. “I don’t like it when you use the word. … When you say it, it’s a different connotation.”

Oprah Winfrey has had it up to here with people claiming she’s a lesbian, and that Gayle King is her “on the low” girlfriend.

The daytime television queen recently sat down with Barbara Walters for an hour-long TV special to air tomorrow night (Thurs. Dec 9) on ABC, and set the record straight on her relationship with her BFF Gayle King, who folks assume is her undercover lover because of how close they are.

In the interview, Oprah made it clear that she and Gayle King are NOT lesbian lovers, adding that Stedman Graham is the love of her life. Peep what Oprah had to say about she and Gayle’s friendship, along with her relationship with Stedman, below:

“I have said we are not gay enough times. I’m not lesbian … I’m not even kinda lesbian,” Winfrey told Barbara Walters. “And the reason why it irritates me is because it means that somebody must think I’m lying. That’s number one. Number two, why would you want to hide it? That is not the way I run my life.”

When asked to describe her friendship with Gayle King, Oprah got choked up and even shed a few tears.

“She is … the mother I never had. She is … the sister everybody would want. She is the friend that everybody deserves. I don’t know a better person. I don’t know a better person. It’s making me cry because I’m thinking about … how much … I probably have never told her that.”

Oprah and Barbara also discussed Oprah’s quiet and very private relationship with businessman and entrepreneur Stedman Graham, her partner since 1986 (they got engaged in 1992).

“Every time we showed up in public… there’d be another exploitive story,” Oprah said. “So I made a conscious effort around 2003, 2004, to pull back on my public appearances with Stedman.”

“The love … the lover … the man … the partner … the mate,” Oprah said, describing her significant other. “I do not know of another man on this planet who could have lived this life with such dignity, with such grace and such respect and humility in it. And still hold his own and be his own.”

Winfrey also spoke on the high level of work that’s required to run her own TV network.

“I would wake up in the middle of the night literally clutching my chest, like ‘What have I done? What have I done?’” she said.

“The Oprah Winfrey Show,” currently in its 25th and final season, concludes at the end of the year, and Oprah’s TV network, titled “OWN,” will launch on January 1st 2011. Oprah is also said to be in talks to star as a brothel madam in an HBO film adaptation of Lynn Nottage’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, “Ruined.”

Media personality Barbara Walters is said to be recovering from after having heart surgery. The 80-year-old star of ABC‘s “The View” had a valve replacement procedure done last week and should be released from the hospital any day now. Her rep released a statement Friday:

“Barbara Walters’ surgery went well and the doctors are very pleased with the outcome.”

Walters announced on “The View” last week that she needed to go under the knife in order to have a faulty aortic valve in her heart replaced.

“Nobody wants to have this kind of surgery,” Walters said on the show. “It’s not elective.”

She also said that she will take the summer months off to recover from the open heart surgery and will return to the show in September.

We’re so proud of Barbara. At 80 years old she’s still doing her thing!
