MTV sat down with Ashanti and interviewed her for their webcasts on the First Ladies in pop culture. They took Ashanti back on a lot her 1st “firsts”. I thought it was a pretty good interview check it out above.

Ashanti is back with a new longly anticpated album, The Declaration. This album is not what I expected, but in a very good way. Ashanti has came out of the box and broaden her lyrics and melodies. This album is an R&B album but it’s an upbeat album that doesn’t give you a lot “ballads” which I feel would be a good thing especially listening to new music from Ashanti. I listened to Diddy’s philosophy on new tracks. Ashanti definitely passed the “5 second rule”. Ashanti collaborated with many great producers on this new project. She’s worked with Kanye West, Jermaine Dupri, Akon, BabyFace, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, and more. The first single, “The Way That I Love You” which is still in heavy rotation on the radio was one of the hottest singles and videos of 2008. Some of the tracks on this album that stood out the most would be, “In These Streets”, “Things You Make Me Do” featuring Robin Thicke, “Good Good”, and “Shine”. This is a great return for Ashanti. If you haven’t picked up this album it’s now in stores on iTunes.
Ashanti performed her current single, “The Way I Love You” to promote her latest LP, The Declaration, on Good Morning America. She even gave threw us back and performed her first single, “Foolish” and her first feature, “Always On Time”. Ja Rule even made an appearance for the first time in a long time just for Ashanti.
Check it out after this cut.

UK singer Leona Lewis graces the July 2008 cover of Blender Magazine. In the issue Leona talks about why she is not willing to show more skin and is proud of her clean image.
“I don’t wear little miniskirts and low-cut tops. If you want to show your bits off, it’s up to you. … When I was 18, I had a few glasses of Alcopop — they’re bubblegummy drinks with a bit of alcohol — and it was gross. I’ve tasted champagne, which is gross. And I tasted wine, which I don’t like.â€

American Idol winner Ruben Studdard appeared and performed at the 3rd Annual Cinderella Ball at the Willard Intercontinental hotel in Washington, D.C. The ball is an annual prom-like event for students with disabilities, and is sponsored by The House, Inc.

New music from Ashanti has hit the web from her latest and upcoming album, The Declaration (The Inc./Universal). The title of the track is called “In The Streets”. I’m actually liking the tracks that we’re hearing from Ashanti recently. Although, she has been off the music scene for awhile and I guess the name of her album suit it well. The Declaration due in stores June 3rd! Check out the following links.

Jayceon “The Game” Taylor covers the July 2008 issue of The Source Magazine. The Game has recently reached out to former G Unit member Young Buck to show his support.
In an interview last Friday, Buck said:
“To the homie Game. I’m aware of you reaching out. I haven’t gotten on no phone conversations and actually spoke to Game, but he’s reached out to a few people that’s around me just to show his support like, ‘Yo Buck, f**k whatever’s going on, I just wanna see your well being, as long as you aight.’ (He said) that type of thing.
‘That’s love and I ain’t even got that call from (remaining G-Unit members, Lloyd) Banks and (Tony) Yayo, and we ain’t got no issues with each other. The issue was from 50.â€
Glad to see they could squash whatever “beef” they had going on.

A brand new track has surfaced by Ashanti entitled Lose Your Love, the song appears to be a leftover track from the R&B singer’s forthcoming album, The Declaration, set to release this Summer off The Inc. I can see why it was scrapped. Lose Your Love, although exudes beautiful affection and passion in lyrics, sounds quite weak of a track for Ashanti; and to be honest I’ve heard better from her.
