The Hollywood Reporter’s annual “Power 100: Women In Entertainment Breakfast” took place this Tuesday (Dec 7) in Beverly Hills.

Many of Hollywood’s influential women were in attendance, but one in particular seemed to stand out. Halle Berry was like a busy bee flying from flower to flower! The hit movie “Precious” (nominated for an Oscar) took home a total of 6 awards Friday night (Feb 26) at the 41st Annual NAACP Image Awards, which aired live on FOX from Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium.

Newcomer Gabourey Sidibe was awarded with “Outstanding Actress,” while Mo’Nique picked up the “Outstanding Supporting Actress” award, Lee Daniels won the “Outstanding Director” award and Geoffrey Fletcher was named “Outstanding Writer.” And the film as a collective won “Outstanding Motion Picture of the Year” and “Best Independent Film.”

An incredible team of extraordinary actors and actresses banded together for a Disney classic remake of the “Princess and the Frog.” From the directors of “Aladdin,” and  “The Little Mermaid” outcomes this reprise of a fairytale for little girls with leading vocals done by Oprah Winfrey and Terrence Howard.

This past Friday the Disney fairytale collected over $25 million in box office and earned a No. 2 spot with 15.5 million viewers. “Frog” is a Disney animated musical staring Anika Noni Rose as the voice of a young woman in the 1920s New Orlean’s who turned into a frog by a kiss from an amphibian.

Disney’s first Black princess Anika Noni Rose is featured on the cover of the January 2010 issue of Essence Magazine and in the issue, the actress talks about her role as Princess Tiana in the new movie “The Princess and the Frog” among other things, including scoring the role, making history and what’s next for her career. ESSENCE.com: What was your initial thought when you heard there was going to be a Black animated princess?
ANIKA NONI ROSE: Oh my God, I was thrilled. [Working with] Disney has been my dream, so I just focused on getting the part and when I did, I called home screaming! [laughs] There’s no reason why a girl from Connecticut would end up being the first Black Disney princess.

ESSENCE.com: Well, there’s no reason why not, either! Weren’t Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys and Tyra Banks being considered, too?
ROSE: I read that they were, but I don’t know any details. Ultimately, that didn’t matter to me because I was competing against me. As an actor, if you spend so much time thinking about how many other people are coming into a room, you’ll psyche yourself out before you even get there.

ESSENCE.com: How did you feel when you saw Tiana on the big screen for the first time?
ROSE: When I saw Tiana, with my expression on her face, in color, standing in the moonlight, surrounded by sparkles–I was truly undone! I’ve been crying for a year– seriously.

British pop star Leona Lewis already has a reputation for being a good girl, but now she says she’s not only a good girl … she’s a “good diva.” And she’s not going around spending unnecessary money unlike her celebrity counterparts.

“The term ‘diva’ has such a negative connotation, but I see myself as a kind of good diva. I’m a next-door diva,” she said in the latest issue of Petra magazine.

Leona says she doesn’t make crazy demands and insists that she’s very frugal, unlike most pop stars in the industry. And her biggest purchases so far have been her house and her two cost-efficient environmentally friendly whips.

“The biggest things I’ve bought are a house and my two cars. One of the cars is a Mini Cooper. But in Los Angeles I always drive a Hybrid Toyota Prius which is very environmentally friendly.”

Anika Noni Rose and her on-screen love interest Bruno Campos walked the red carpet of the premiere of Walt Disney Pictures’ “The Princess and the Frog” at Disney Studios Sunday (Nov 15) in Burbank, California. Anika plays the princess and Bruno plays the frog, who later turns into her Prince Charming.

The movie will be released to a limited number of theaters in New York and Los Angeles next Wednesday (Nov 25) and everywhere else on December 11th.

Other celebrities at the premiere were Ne-Yo, Terrence Howard, Jenifer Lewis, Blair Underwood and Erica Hubbard.
