Henson, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kerry Washington, Lea Michele and Amber Riley from “Glee,” rappers/actors Common and LL Cool J, supermodel Heidi Klum and her husband Seal, TV personalities Kelly Osbourne and Paula Abdul, actor Laurence Fishburne and plenty others.

Retail chain H&M recently tapped chart-topping rapper Akon and R&B singer/songwriter Keri Hilson to star in their “Fashion Against AIDS” campaign alongside other celebs like Selma Blair, Penn Badgley, Sky Ferreira, Nikki Reed, Ginnifer Goodwin and the Scissor Sisters.

In the new campaign, the celebrities pose in clothes that consumers can buy to benefit AIDS research, with 25% of the profit going to Designers Against AIDS. Speaking on his involvement with H&M, Akon said:

“I’ve had a lot of friends who’ve been in the situation where their friends and family have been affected by HIV. As I travel the world, I see how much HIV affects people. It’s not like we have a cure for HIV, we only have prevention.”

The collection will launch April 26th at H&M stores worldwide.

R&B singer Usher headlined KIIS FM’s 2010 Wango Tango Concert Saturday night (May 15) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The bill of performers also included Justin Bieber, Ludacris, Ke$ha, Akon, Adam Lambert, B.o.B. and Kelly Rowland. In addition, folks like Ryan Seacrest, Rob Kardashian, Jason Derulo and others were spotted posing for pictures on the red carpet of the annual concert event.

International artist Akon has filed a lawsuit against his former business partners accusing them of using his name for a new perfume without his permission.

The Grammy nominee and Konvict Muzik CEO was reportedly in talks to develop his own scent, but according to recently filed court documents, Akon was met with a huge surprise when he found out perfume executives formed Konvict Cosmetics International and started selling a scent called Konvict without his prior approval!

So now, the Senegalese-American entertainer is demanding the company halt further production of the illegitimate fragrance. Representatives from the unauthorized company Konvict Cosmetics so far haven’t responded to requests for comment.

Producer/singer Akon has put it out that there that he is far from feeling Christina Aguilera jacking his artist Lady Gaga‘s style… or so he says. In a recent interview with Vibe, the CEO of Kon Live records is sharing his views on the newly created “Gaga vs. Christina” battle. Basically, people feel that Christina’s new sound and look are a rip-off of what Lady Gaga has been doing since she was signed to Akon’s Kon Live Distribution label in 2008.

“Aw man, that’s not even any competition,” Akon tells VIBE. “You are actually giving Christina too much credit. She always had her cool little look and way about how she went about things. But soon as Gaga came out everything switched up. Christina stepped out of her own shell to become something different. And the crazy thing is Christina is really talented. She has unlimited range when it comes to singing. Her voice is out of here. I just think she just needs to believe in herself more. I think sometimes she gets insecure because of all of the success Gaga has had not realizing that she was already successful before Gaga came out.”

Akon hopes Aguilera’s upcoming album Bionic showcases more of her dynamic voice and less of the up-tempo, electro pop bad-girl anthems typified by her latest single “Not Myself Tonight.”

“Christina shouldn’t have anything to prove or anyone to compete with,” he continues. “I miss the old Christina Aguilera. I like the old one better than the new one. Honestly, Gaga and Christina could probably get together and do something that’s amazing. But that’s impossible if they are both trying to do the same exact thing musically.”

As far as his own work is concerned, Akon is set to release his new album Stadium this summer.

What do you think about the Lady Gaga / Christina Aguilera comparisons?

People rarely talk about the fact that Lady Gaga is actually signed to Akon‘s label and she has made him a ton of money. In fact, her rapid success has put enough money in Akon’s pockets that he could retire TODAY.

“She’s pretty much retired me,” the singer said of Gaga, who is signed to his KonLive imprint at Interscope Records. “She was definitely a blessing. She came at the right moment. I’m glad I believed in her, boy. That goes to show you, if you believe in something strong enough, it will pay off.” Gaga, one of last year’s top-selling artists, was dropped from at least one major record label. She was available just as Akon closed his deal with Interscope chairman Jimmy Iovine, the Senegalese singer said in a recent interview.

“And I was like ‘Yo, I want to sign that right there. She needs to be under my umbrella,’” Akon said. “Jimmy was like ‘Yeah, whatever you want. Take her. Let’s get it done.’ And she just blossomed into a super megastar, man.” Gaga is one of several artists to be featured on Akon’s next album.

Lady Gaga is currently on tour overseas in the UK for her “Monster Ball” tour. Her opening night in Manchester Thursday was said to be a hit, despite a few technical glitches. But Gaga gets a pass seeing as as she re-did her entire show and only had a month to rehearse and get everything down for the UK/European leg of her tour. More info on that to come soon…

The music video for “We Are the World: 25 for Haiti” debuted Friday night (Feb 12) during the opening ceremony for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

This version of the song, featuring vocals from Justin Bieber, Jennifer Hudson, Lil Wayne, Janet Jackson, Miley Cyrus, Jamie Foxx, Mary J. Blige, Kanye West, T-Pain, Usher, Wyclef Jean and much more, is much more contemporary than the original but it fits today’s music era. The song’s original writer and singer Michael Jackson also appears in the song and video (his sister Janet sings the first chorus with footage of Mike thrown in). They also kept one of MJ’s original parts and show footage of him singing it (Nice!).

The 25th Anniversary recording features over 80 artists and performers. The recording of We Are The World 25 For Haiti embodied the same enthusiasm, sense of purpose and generosity as the original recording 25 years ago. Every one of the artists who participated, regardless of genre or generation, walked into the room with their hearts and souls completely open to coming together to help the people of Haiti.

Usher and Chris Brown are homies now?

R&B entertainers Usher and Chris Brown were spotted sitting courtside together last night (Dec 29) in Atlanta at the Hawks vs. Cleveland Cavaliers basketball Game at the Philips Arena. Other celebrities in the building include Akon, Young Jeezy, Polow Da Don and Chris Tucker. Atlanta Mayor-elect Kasim Reed was also spotted at the game.

Photographer FreddyO was on the scene (that boy be everywhere!) and spotted Usher and Chris Brown munching on some wings:

While at the Hawks vs Cavaliers game, I happened to spot the homies Usher, Chris Brown, Polo Da Don, and Akon chillin courtside. There were so many people there, you would have sworn it was playoff season. Apparently Usher and Chris were hungry as hell for some chicken wings…

Rapper Kid Cudi walked the red carpet and posed for pictures at the 2009 GQ Gentlemen’s Ball at The Edison Ballroom Wednesday night (Oct 28) in New York City.

Other celebs at the event were Akon, Chanel Iman, Gerard Butler and Braylon Edwards of the NY Jets.

Eighteen people were injured at an Akon (featuring T-Pain) concert in Melbourne, Australia Monday night (Oct 26) when over 50 people rushed security guards to get into the venue. Sadly 8 to 11 of the eighteen people had to be rushed to the hospital for serious trauma.  Although a lot of fans were involved in the chaotic brawl only a 21 year old male who knocked a security guard unconsciousness during the melee has been charged with assault.

To no avail, Akon jumped into crowd during his performance to try stop the crowd from fighting.  A YouTube video shows Akon jumping down with his body guards trying to calm the fans down while the crowd cheered. Akon, top of one of his bodyguards’ shoulders at this this point, directs his attention toward the crowd saying, “Hold on Melbourne…I need ya’ll to let me speak for one second. I don’t know if ya’ll know how hard it took me to get there. It took me almost two years for Australia… and I am not going to let them f*ck up our concert tonight.”

The remix video features vocal and visual appearances from Ron Browz, of course, Diddy, Swizz Beatz and Akon. AKON PLEADS GUILTY IN FAN TOSSING INCIDENT » Singer Akon, and owner of Konvict Musik, reportedly pleaded guilty to harassment last week for tossing a fan from the stage during a concert last summer in Fishkill, New York. He accepted a plea deal in which he will serve zero hours behind bars, but he must perform 65 hours of community service, in addition to paying a $250 fine.

During a June 2007 concert in the small town of Fishkill, NY, the “Right Now (Na Na Na)” singer threw the boy off the stage, as in literally picked him up in the air, and threw him into the audience, after he had apparently thrown something at the 35-year-old singer. A woman in the crowd claims she suffered a concussion when the teen landed on her. The incident hit Youtube and subsequently every major website on the planet.

After accepting the plea, Akon shook hands with 16-year-old Anthony Smith, the guy he threw in the crowd, apologizing to him and his parents. Akon’s lawyer released the following statement:

“We are pleased that the case has been resolved and Akon looks forward to putting this unfortunate incident behind him.”

Akon’s original charges included minor second-degree harassment and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a minor.

MICHAEL VICK MAY MOVE INTO HALFWAY HOUSE » After losing millions of dollars in endorsements, his multi-million dollar contract with the Atlanta Falcons, and basically ALL of his money, Michael Vick is now B-R-O-K-E. Broke as in having to file for bankruptcy broke. But, there’s a silver lining in every cloud. Because of his financial situation, he could be moved from a federal prison in the Midwest to a Virginia halfway house by January 20th 2009. He’s currently serving a 23-month prison term in Leavenworth, Kansas for holding and financing a dogfighting ring, and is scheduled to be released July 20th.

Last month, he pleaded guilty to a state dogfighting charge, which allows him to be released a few months earlier. This guilty plea also allows the option of him being transitioned into a halfway house. The suspended Atlanta Falcons quarterback’s camp says that his long-distance absence makes it hard to continue with his bankruptcy proceedings in Virginia, so they are working with the courts to get him moved back to the state.

But, there’s a flip-side. A bad flip-side. U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Frank Santoro ordered that paperwork must be completed to make sure Vick appears at a bankruptcy hearing set for Jan. 30th 2009 in Newport News, Virginia. Michael Blumenthal, one of Vick’s bankruptcy attorneys, said that the paperwork could take weeks to process and could possibly delay the halfway house program. Blumenthal asked Judge Santoro to postpone the court hearing by a week so that Vick could be transferred before his required bankruptcy course, but Santoro refused.

“Mr. Vick came into this court voluntarily,” the judge said. “I am not going to try to schedule around what may or may not be the convenience of Mr. Vick.”

In addition to refusing to move the bankruptcy hearing, Santoro also rejected a financial disclosure statement Vick’s laywers filed in the bankruptcy case, ordering him to submit a new one by Jan. 5th 2009. Major creditors objected to the statement because it “lacked sufficient detail about his finances,” and “failed to back up his statement that he believes he will resume his NFL career after his release.”

The new hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 30th 2009, and Vick must appear for another hearing on that same day to discuss whether or not a trustee should be appointed to take control of his assets.

SOULJA BOY ANIMATED SERIES DUE IN JANUARY » A three webisode run is scheduled for an animated series based on rapper Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em. The cartoon will make its debut in late January, and will be called “Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em: The Animated Series.” You saw a short little clip of it in Soulja Boy’s new video, Kiss Me Thru the Phone, featuring Sammie.

The series follows an animated version of the young rapper as he returns to high school. Alfonso Ribiero (Carlton from “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air“) plays the school principal.

“I got caught up in cars and this and that. Kept going in and out of jail. Three months here, six months there, two weeks here,” Akon said. “And it was to a point where I was like, ‘This really doesn’t make any sense. What am I doing?’ And the last stretch I did was six months in Dekalb County (Georgia) after I was pulled over in a stolen car. So I guess when I was being interviewed, and I would say, ‘Yeah I did about three years,’ I wasn’t saying I did a three year stretch, I was calculating the time from when I started to get in trouble to the time when I said, ‘Enough is enough.’ And I think that was mistranslated in the Smoking Gun article and other stories.”

Yeah … usually when you say “I did 3 years in prison,” it usually means you did three years in prison! Not 3 months here, 6 months there, a week here, 12 hours there, 72 minutes there. He knew what he was doing to get those album sales, SMH…

JENNIFER HUDSON WON’T BE RETURNING BACK TO “WORK” THIS SOON » Singer Jennifer Hudson, who recently went through a real-life nightmare, is reportedly not ready to return to work. According to a rep for J Records, the former American Idol contestant was set to record her new music video for her latest single, “If It Isn’t Love,” this week in Los Angeles.

“The video was set up before the tragedy and she felt like she should finish what she started, but she’s realized that she’s not ready to go back to work. It’s too early,” the J Records rep told US Magazine.

But according to a personal representative of Hudson, the J Records rep didn’t know what they were talking about, calling the statement “erroneous.”

“The video shoot was never confirmed, so there was nothing to cancel,” the personal rep tells US Magazine. “[J Records' statement] was erroneous.”

This would be the first time Hudson would be seen out in public since the shooting deaths of her mother, brother and young nephew. The man responsible for their deaths, William Balfour, was officially charged earlier this month. Personally, I know if I lost my mom, brother and nephew all at the same time, it would be a looooooong time before I was ready to get back to “work.” Take all the time you need, J Hud!

STEVIE WONDER TO “DANCE WITH THE STARS?” » In a recent radio interview, music legend Stevie Wonder responded to rumors of him possibly being on the next installment of the hit show, “Dancing With The Stars.”

“It’d be fun,” Stevie says. “It’s not impossible, but right now it’s just a thought.”

104.3 MY FM’s “Valentine in the Morning” host Sean Valentine also asked the singer about his dancing ability.

“Come on,” Stevie says. “You’ve got to think. If I have 7 children, I’ve got to be able to dance right?”

Well, if a chick with one leg can do it … why not Stevie?
